Introduction
Vampires. For centuries humans have feared their power and their mystery. Few thought, even once, that they might be real. But they are –they are very real, they are very alive, and they are all around us. Everywhere. All the time.
They are not, however, the monsters that human myth has made them out to be. At least… not all of them. There are those humans who, once bitten, descended into madness and became mindless blood-sucking demons, but the vast majority of the vampire race is civilized, organized, even polite. They prefer to stay hidden from the eyes of humans, to prevent panic amongst their prey.
There are even those vampires who seek a way to stop drinking the blood of humans altogether. That is the purpose of Cross Academy.
Disguised as a prestigious boarding school, Cross Academy is a safe-haven for humans and vampires alike, though the humans of the Day Class have no idea what the Night Class really is. Cross Academy is a dangerous experiment, which has brought the vampire and human worlds dangerously close together. Several times the entire project has come close to falling apart, but things seem to be improving on campus. Tension has eased. Cynics are beginning to think that perhaps, just maybe, there really is a way for vampires and humans to exist in the same world.
Of course… that is only true as long as someone does not come along to disrupt the peace.
Whispers have risen amongst the vampires, gossip-hungry creatures that they are. There is talk of a Pureblood whose power is too strong, who wishes to challenge the Council, to become the dictator of the vampire race. The Academy’s resident Pureblood does what he can to silence such stories, but not even an all-powerful Pureblood can stop the word from spreading. The vampires grow nervous once more. Withstanding the temptation of human blood has taken a back-seat in the face of this new and terrible threat to their way of life. It is only a matter of time before events come to a head.
Will you be a part of it?
The World
Rank in the vampire world is determined by the purity of one’s vampire blood. The purer the lineage, the more powerful the vampire. The ranks go as follows:
Level A – Purebloods
The heritage of these vampires hasn't been diluted by human blood. They're the strongest type of vampire and have the most significant powers. Despite the fact that Purebloods are very powerful, they only make up for a very small portion of the vampire population. The Council hold Purebloods in extremely high regard. It is taboo to kill or to even harm a Pureblood. As a result, Purebloods are treated like royalty.
The powers of Purebloods are dangerous to both their fellow vampires and humans. Purebloods have the ability to compel lesser vampires to do their bidding. If a human is bitten by a Pureblood that human will turn into a vampire. The Pureblood and ex-human in question become bonded as Master and Servant – the master is able to control their servant’s every move with a word, while the servant becomes incapable of ever killing their master, even if they wish to. When purebloods die, their bodies slowly disperse into small sparkles and then shatter like glass. Subsequently, the death for a pureblood is different to the death of any other type of vampire.
Level B – Aristocrats
They are elite vampires with specialized abilities – more powerful than common vampires, but not nearly at the level of a Pureblood, as their bloodlines are contaminated very slightly by the blood of humans. When an aristocrat is killed, they turn to dust, as do the other levels below them. These aristocratic vampires are still able to be compelled by purebloods, but enjoy a much more independent lifestyle in general. The Council of Elders is usually made up from their ranks. Aristocrats, also called Nobles, are commonly able to control a single element – i.e., fire, or blood.
Level C – Common
Average vampires with no significant powers. They were changed from humans, but have had the fortune to drink the blood of the Pureblood who created them, and so will never descend to Level E.
Level D – Ex-Human
These vampires are humans who have been bitten by Purebloods but have not had the fortune to drink the blood of their Master. Though these vampires may maintain their sanity for a time, they will be constantly plagued by bloodlust, and are often unable to satisfy themselves with blood tablets – some of them are made sick by the pills. If they do not find their Masters quickly and obtain a taste of their blood, they will eventually descend to Level E.
Level E – Monsters
The most dangerous of vampires, responsible for the terrible reputation the race has been given. These Ex-Humans never attained their Masters’ blood, and their own bloodlust drove them mad. They lost themselves to the thirst, and became senseless monsters.
The Rules
1. No power-play or godmodding.
2. One character per person – if you want more, ask, and accept the answer whether it is positive or negative.
3. There may not be another pureblood. There may only be five vampires in all.
4. This will be an advanced literate roleplay. 200 words per post is the bare minimum which will be expected of you. If you can not write this much with proper grammar, punctuation, and use of tenses, you will not be accepted.
5. You must obey the Pureblood. It is simply the way things work in the world of vampires. You are unable to obey him if he gives you an order.
6. If you have read these you know that you must write “I am an Ichijo” on the bottom of your profile in bright red letters.
7. This roleplay is expected to be PG-17. This means that when the clothes come off, you fade to black. Don’t swear too much, and don’t get too gory. This is a vampire roleplay – there will be blood – but don’t knock me off my chair describing the wounds.
8. The GM reserves the right to refuse the chosen aristocratic powers, or indeed anything submitted to the RP.
9. More characters may be added later, when the roleplay gets a little further along.
10. If you have read all the way down to here, you know to ignore the instructions about the bright red phrase. Instead, write your favorite blood type and your favorite fruit in bright green at the bottom of your profile.
Your Characters
There will be a limited number of characters in this roleplay, to keep a lid on chaos and ensure quality control. Below is the list of characters.
Character histories are always negotiable – PM the player of the other character to discuss it. When doing something drastic – being something more than friends – PM Everscale for permission.
There will be no reservations. To have your character accepted you must qualify for the position in the eyes of the GM – It does not make sense for me to shut down the position if you may not make it anyways. Thus, no reservations.
