You Find Yourself in a Room

You Find Yourself in a Room

0 INK

It isn't big. In fact, it's rather small, with no windows or doors. Just small enough to make you claustrophobic. Next to you are four other people trapped in very much the same room. It's your job to get out of this room. By the way? I hate you.

Introduction

I picked five random humans out of their dimension, and plopped them into a Room. You could say this Room was a pocket dimension, being only about the size of a standard living room, and yet it's infinitely more massive than the stars themselves. These humans will be tested, their soft flesh curiously touched and their minds playfully plucked. Do I know them? Of course not, what would I want to know about something as mundane as a person? I simply want them to know the extent of which I despise the very quantum fabric of their being is all.

So, I have devised a series of puzzles both treacherous and soul breaking to complete, not to mention difficult. If these humans really wish to live as they so jovially boast, let them for once live as base as they possibly could. Back in the primordial waste, when their minds were malleable and their bodies a mere thought of evolution. They lived outside for so long, under the sky, ignorant and full of potential. Then they caged themselves in boxes they called living spaces, or rooms, to protect themselves from the thing that kept them alive for so very long prior. I take the image of this shackle, a distorted beacon of safety among a sea of nothing else. Ungrateful, unforgivable, unforgettable, unflappable, undeniable humans.

These carefree organisms know a type of slavery, wherein another human needed something to be done. I need nothing done, and we have all of the time, forward and back.

Firstly, there shan't be any rule breakers inside of the RP. The Room is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent, and as such has a set of guidelines to follow. This doesn't mean you can't be clever or solve anything in your own way, but you can't go against the rules that Room has given you. This is a team effort. This also means that you may not challenge the Room on equitable grounds. You may die in the worst way, since the Room will do with you as it will.

Second, no griefing. Do not inflict harm or death on another character unless you've taken the steps in building your character (such as hatred for them, or general insanity) to do so, or if you're instructed to do so by the Room*. Suicide will be discussed**. Do not potentially ruin a puzzle or otherwise inhibit the progress of everyone else without first taking the steps in building your character to do so, or if you're instructed to do so by the Room*, or if you believe that it's plausible that by ruining the puzzle, it can be solved.

Third, keep it PG. You weren't put here to molest your teammates. If you do, since this is technically about the human condition, keep sexually explicit acts extremely vague. In the case of murder, details to the extent of your sanity is welcome, but talking about the stringy muscles and bits of sinew is going a bit far.

-----------------

*You do not have to do what the Room says, but there may be consequences.

**In the case that you are unable to continue the roleplay, there is one way out. Death. Since you are going inert, and have not escaped the Room, it's requested that you tie up loose ends. Suicide or throwing yourself on the mercies of the Room are two ways to accomplish this.***

***If a player dies before they can escape the Room, a space will become available for another user to fill. As soon as the remaining four aren't looking in any particular corner of the Room, the new character will "appear" there, bewildered most likely.

(It is suggested that you first play YFYIAR to get a better understanding of how this will work. It is also suggested to download and listen to this: http://tindeck.com/listen/lzoe on a loop when creating a character on and roleplaying "You Find Yourself in a Room" to properly emulate the atmosphere from the game. Due to the prospect from myself of a virus, I would not blame you if you didn't. As well you should protect your hardware than I should get atmospheric tension right.)

(P.S. Comments such as "Wow, room sounds weird now." or "Room doesn't even sound like a real word anymore." will be met with horribly explosive death.)

(P.S.S. Not really, but now you know not to do it.)

Erin:
Shaken, and nauseous she looked up.

"Wh- where am I?" She said

She was in a completely white room and it was empty.

Mikasa's head snapped up, amber-brown eyes running over the newcomer. About her confused wonderings of where she was, well, Mikasa honestly didn't know either. He had only arrived there maybe an hour ago, but thus far it was quite boring. "Hell if I know." It would probably be a long time before anything big happened. He himself was taking to the room quite well, but any others... Screwed up as he may have been, Mikasa Mikoru still knew it would drive most other people insane. The assassin sighed, flipping open a decent-sized pocketknife and proceeding to simply watch the blade, how the strange light seeming to come from the walls of the white room itself ran along its edge.

Re: You Find Yourself in a Room

I can do three lines or longer. Giant paragraphs aren't exactly my style, so no need to worry about that.

I'm pretty sure she is. One doctor diagnosed gall stones, another said hepatitis, and the third one, ...I can't remember. But she went to China a little while ago, didn't take shots this time, so that's what we're thinking.

Re: You Find Yourself in a Room

I don't think you did actually. I would rather enjoy posts at least three lines or longer, but I don't suggest making long paragraphs of skimming, tl;dr material.

I'm really sorry about your situation, man. Is she going to be alright?

Re: You Find Yourself in a Room

So sorry I took so long...I've been busy with school, also my grandmother's in the hospital for possibly up to three different reasons. I'll have my character sheet up in a few minutes. Also, is there a minimum post size?

I think I've asked before, but I forgot... >.<

Re: You Find Yourself in a Room

Those who still have character slots reserved, how long do you think until you'll all be ready to go?

Re: You Find Yourself in a Room

if somebody dies i'm up for this o.o

wait... that sounded bad... i mean... i'll shut up now o.o

Re: You Find Yourself in a Room

Also, that should be fine, Cinto.

Re: You Find Yourself in a Room

Who did I possibly mistake lilacwest for? Now is an appropriate time to stomp up and down to pull my hair, but I won't. Lilacwest, if you happen to read this, I'm sorry, but if you didn't mind you'd be in a queue in case somebody from the original five die.

Re: You Find Yourself in a Room

It might take me a while to finish my character sheet, I'm having a strangely hard time writing it. Can I use pictures for the appearence?

Re: You Find Yourself in a Room

Yeah, that's what I thought, but by the looks of it, she has a character for this..?

Re: You Find Yourself in a Room

Actually, I don't think any lilacwest has ever posted in this forum. There's yourself, KayEyeEmm, Cinto, VidiDici and Nasurate6.

Re: You Find Yourself in a Room

Yessss, thank you :) Wait... so it looks like we'll have three girls now, Lilacwest, KayEyeEmm and myself?

Re: You Find Yourself in a Room

That's a yes, and all slots are now taken. One girl for akjadestar.

Re: You Find Yourself in a Room

There still a slot left? :) if so, can I make a girl?

Re: You Find Yourself in a Room

I be seein'. Alrighty then.

Re: You Find Yourself in a Room

The Room didn't go through all of the trouble of picking different time periods. It just stuck with one, and took all of the subjects from present day earth. Time inside of the room, however, is subjective. You don't need food or drink, but your internal clock is still on earth time, meaning that you still need to sleep. The Room cannot directly make you or stop you from sleeping.

Re: You Find Yourself in a Room

Sah-weet. I'm writing a bio right now.

Re: You Find Yourself in a Room

That's one more male for Nasurate6.

Re: You Find Yourself in a Room

Pleeeeaaaase tell me I can still reserve a male character.

EDIT: Alsoalsoalso.

The intro mentions 'all the time, forward and back' and the term 'dimension' is very vague. Does this mean I could conceivably play a character who lived in a different time period (saaaaaay Ancient Greece) prior to their finding of themselves in the Room?

Re: You Find Yourself in a Room

Alright, we have Cinto reserving one male character, KayEyeEmm reserving one female character, and VidiDici for one more male character. I'll put the reserve count in with the introduction, along with a character sheet. Also, thanks a lot for the positive feedback. I wasn't quite sure if I was doing it right.

Re: You Find Yourself in a Room

Could I reserve a male character? This looks very interesting and well thought out, good job. Is there a specific character sheet, though?
