The streets of Tokyo teem with life, but there are more than just humans traversing these concrete paths. Demons and ghosts, yokai and yurei alike travel among the humans, sometimes causing harm, but most times, just unable to go anywhere else. There are a few places in Tokyo, though, that are free of both the taint of humans and spirits. Most of them are shrines and places where Essences dwell.

But something has come to steal these Essences and defile these places of purity, something that has a hunger for human souls. No one knows what or who this new threat is, nor how to stop it. Only a handful of people with the abilities to see spirits and exorcise them, and few with the abilities of magic may rise against this unknown terror and reclaim the souls that have been stolen.
