Shangri-La (OOC)

Story:

Welcome to the year 2861, the world as you know still exists. Not much has changed: cars, busses, plains and etc now all run on either solar or waterpower. The buildings just got a bit modern and there is a bit more nature now since the rainforests became protected.
But their are two big changes that have happened. Both are related to each other.
The first one is that the world is now run by two large governments: the Atlantic federation and Eurasian federation. After the large economic crisis, that started in 1607, people got so desperate that wars started all over the world engulfing it in total chaos.

As America had went bankrupt and didn’t have the financial power to back up it’s once so all over powering army, there wasn’t a clear world power anymore. China and other countries tried to take it over but no one succeeded until one day.
In America a man called the Priest and in Britain a woman called the Nun suddenly rose to power. Under their control they unified all the countries in the world, some by overpowering them, others by threatening them and others just by bribing them.

Tough they may seem bad persons, people followed them blindly as they led them into a new age. One off peace, prosperity and happiness. The one big downside to it all was the second greatest change.
As their names suggest, the Priest and the Nun were deeply catholic and forbad it for people to be public gay, lesbian or bi-sexual. Who dared to go against this rule got beaten up, thrown into a deep black hole called a jail and was never seen or heard of again.

At the first people protested and held large protestations against it, but they all were broken down by deadly force. Even now, years after the dead of the Priest and the Nun, this law is still in effect and people are terrified to brake it.
There are some underground groups, who still follow their feelings and admit that they are gay.
With their combined funds, they have opened a private school for youngsters where they can publicly admit their feelings.

The college’s location is the most protected secret in the world. Both the Atlantic as the Eurasian federation know the rumours about it and they are franticly looking for it. The only thing they know about it is its name: Shangri-La


Plot:

You will be one of the students that enters the college. So you will be a bi-sexual, gay or lesbian student or teacher. The students and teachers that are at the college have been screened to perfection and no-one is a fake.
Tough they fear that one of the two federations could raid the place, they live their lives there, hoping that they could find the love of their lives and are happy they don’t have to hide who they are.

So it’s pretty simple, it’s a school rp but only about gay-lesbian-bisexual students and teachers.

the Atlantic Federation:
The Atlantic federation was founded by the man known only as the Priest. What first used to be United States of America, soon expanded and took control over Canada, Mexico, Jamaica, Cuba and all the other small islands around it. After a lot off power display in Mexico and Cuba, it wasn’t difficult to threat or bribe the governments of Oceania , Central and South America and all the small islands in the Oceanic and Atlantic ocean.
Since he controlled almost all the countries around the Atlantic sea, the Priest changed the name from United States of America to the Atlantic Federation.

The Eurasian Federation:

As powers shifted in the Americas, the Nun started to rise in Britain. Using the European parliament, she soon got her hands on each country in Europe. Then she suggested a joint leadership with China and combining Asia and Europe together.
But soon she bribed, killed or threatened the right people and she got her hands on the entire Asian territory. Thus she changed the name to Eurasian Federation and even when she took over control of Africa she never changed the name back.

Shanri-la:

Is a college that’s got everything for their students and teachers. It has six different buildings:
• The dorms
• The school
• The cafeteria
• The sport centre
• The library
• The aura

People who are accepted there, are brought in by little private plains and are supplied so they don’t have to leave or rather aren’t capable of leaving the college grounds. It’s a security measure to keep them save and also so that they can spent all their time together with the persons they care about.

4) Cursing and such will be allowed but don’t do it every sentence.

Appearance: He has A unique eyes, where they are orange, green, red, and brown, could be called Hazel or Heterochromia because even though both of his eyes consist of all these colors, they don't have specific placement within his pupils. Light brown skin, almost tan, a sweet coffee color. He has no acne, or body deformities, though he does have stubbly facial hair around his jaw and a slight mustache. He has what could be considered a 'handsome face', rather then cute or childish. He has a rounded face though strong chin that doesn't stick out.. He has a pair of thin lips pinkish lips. His eyelids always look partly closed though only slightly, gives him a slightly 'lazy smile guy' look.He has Short, incredibly soft, and white looks patted down almost, and as though it is naturally spiked forward forward. His hair is neat, though appears slightly messy in some ares mostly on the top as though layered. He has longish sideburns. He has a slim, though nice athletic build body. Standing 6'5" and 275 pounds. Also a small Silver hoop in his left ear. He has a tattoo of a large holy cross that is on the right side of his body, starting from beneath his left chest and ending down to his inner thigh, the arms of cross go from his mid body to wrapping around the side of his ribcage, it is designed with a blue rose in the center of it and thorned stems wrapping around cross itself. He also has tribal tattoos on his muscular left arm, and a tattoo that reads 'Fallen' on the back of his neck.

Balthier dresses usually in comfortable clothing..he usually wears a pair of straight legged jeans, a single colored V neck t-shirt, and a pair of tennis shoes.

Personality: Balthier is a very chill guy, usually doesn't cause drama, even if its after him. Balthier might be slightly stubborn though, if he doesn't want to do something he refuses to be forced into it without a fight, he also hates people fighting or messing with his friend.Balthier likes sports, his favorites are Track and Football, though he treats them all equal.

Balthier is overall a loyal guy who is protective over his friends, though he likes to drink. It isn't a problem, he just likes the taste, he can get drunk though he knows his limits, hes a little giddy when he drinks, just like when everyone gets drunk, he splits. He gets a little more friendly, likes to be a little to 'touchy feely' with the people around him, he also becomes a little loud, though still a fun guy.

Bio: Balthier knew he was gay ever since his junior high years, he kept it as a secret for 'acceptance' reasons. He was a very successful lineman on his school football team, came from a high class family, got good grades in school, and stayed above the influence. He seeked refuge in teen gay chat-rooms where he could be himself, he had a crush on one of the cheerleader boys at his school, though he had to pretend not to want to be around him.

They hit High School, Balthiers Senior Year. Balthier finished his puberty stage, and girls started to start to like boys more. He was forced to go to parties many times, though he never did anything with the females. One day he got invited to the Cheerleader Boys home birthday party, and after the party it was just Balthier and the boy, and it just happened...They got caught by the Cheerleader boys parents, who told Balthiers parents, it eventually spread around the school. Balthiers career was crushed, his parents kicked him out. And he started to drink, and started getting tattoos, letting the painful ink enter his skin. He lived with a couple of gay lovers who took him in.

As the years passed by, he found work as a yard worker. Though he recently reserved a letter that accepted him into Shangri-La, so that he could go to college. He took his chances, and he wanted to be successful. So he took it.

Misc: Balthier plays the Guitar, and he has okay singing skills.

@Haruka: You're accepted but change a minor thing in your Bio; Like I said, the location of Shangri-La is the worlds biggest secret and only a few "resistance groups" know about it, so in order to get in, either you have to be invited or pay off one of these groups. So if you just mention somewere that Haruka's parents have payed a lot of money to a resistance group, then everything is perfect. Thank you!

Appearance: With her 5”1 and just weighing about 94 lbs, Maria is a tiny doll. Because well people always compliment her about her beautiful tanned skin, that she has from her father who’s a Costa Rican, her long curly brown hair and jade eyes, she earns the nickname off doll.
The only problem she’s got, is finding clothes in her size since she is so tiny and slim but isn’t a child anymore. But she solved that problem by starting to make her own clothes. This goes from simple shirts, tops and pants to complicated dresses.

Personality: Maria is a very open and active person. Not afraid of anyone, she talks to every person that meets her path and has some time to spare.
She’s friendly towards everyone and treats everyone the same.

But if you get on her bad side, you find out that she can be a cold person that isn’t afraid to yell or even slap you. Off course you need to do something really wrong to be on her bad side. And Maria is also a person who does anything for her closest friends and family.

Bio: Maria was born into a loving family with three older brothers and a younger sister. Her father, who’s a Costa Rican, had a found him a great job and made a lot of money to support his family and her mother, who was an American with Russian roots, stayed at home and took care for them.
Growing up they got everything they ever wanted but weren’t spoiled. Her parents always taught her that not everything’s granted in this live. If you wanted something you must show that you earn it, one way or another.

As she loved her time in their house with her family, she also loved her time when she went back to Costa Rica to her grandmothers ranch.
The nature, the open spaces, all the different flowers that bloomed around the ranch, she loved every aspect of it.
It also was her grandmother who taught her how to make her own clothes.

And when Maria was sixteen an noticed that she started to fall in love with another girl in her class, it was her grandmother she told the first about this.
Not knowing what to do, she asked her grandmother for help. Because she knew it was highly illegal to love someone off the same gender but her feelings said it was the best thing that ever happened to her.

But her grandmother told her that nothing was wrong with her and if that was how she felt, that she just had to live her life like she wanted too. Yet she also gave her a huge warning never to show this to anyone in the outside world.
After the great talk with her grandmother, she decided that she also needed to tell her parents, brothers and sisters about it.

When she had done it, she saw on their faces that they were shocked. None of them had ever even thought about the possibility that Maria could be a lesbian, so at the moment she had told them, their world turned upside down.
They asked her if this wasn’t a phase or if she was serious about it. So she told them she was dead serious.

Not knowing what to do, her family was torn in pieces. No one wanted to report Mya to the authorities, she was their daughter or sister but they also knew that if the authorities found out that they were hiding a lesbian amongst them, they would all be arrested and most likely be killed.
Thus they decided to ask for help and tried to get in contact with an underground organisation that supported homosexuality.

After a few months, they finally succeeded in getting in contact. Talking about their problems, the group suggested about taking Maria away and transfer her to the school complex called Shangri-La.
Maria couldn’t believe what was happening to her, but she took this opportunity with both hands.
And after saying goodbye to her family and grandmother, she relocated to Shangri-La at age 17.
Now she’s been living there for 5 years, she is one of the most popular students with both the teachers and other students both male and female. The only downside is that trough her popularity, nobody has been honest with her when it comes to love and only wanted to be with her to also be popular. So she still is hoping that she can meet her loved one here.

Appearance: Keith embraces his physical appearance and always dresses sharply, whether it's a night out partying, a formal dinner party, or a day of shopping. Generally, he can be found in form fitting shirts or jackets, rear-end flattering jeans or slacks, and stylish accessories including designer watches, pendants, Italian shoes, and stud-style earrings. When it's appropriate, he chooses to go about shirtless. He has a tattoo of a cobra on his left bicep, and he always keeps his hair clean, short, and stylish. His eyes are a soft but intense green. There are two noticeable scars on his right inner thigh and on his lower back.

Personality: Keith is what some would call a "social butterfly", though he never admits to this fact himself. While he enjoys meeting new people and socializing with a crowd, he equally enjoys his quiet time in front of a TV playing his favorite video game, or lounging on a sofa reading books. A little fiery at times, Keith tends to speak his mind without thinking, and his temper rises quickly when he's angered or cornered. He is, however, the best and most loyal friend anyone could make, and he'll go out of his way to do anything for the ones he loves.

A bit of an exhibitionist, Keith tends to - subconsciously - flaunt both his physical appearance and his intelligence, both of which are above average. Depending on who he's talking to, this tendency can lead to bad first impressions and unflattering opinions. Keith also shuns television - he never watches anything other than the morning and evening news, and he finds TV shows and the actors starring in them repulsive and pretentious. He does, however, enjoy a good movie. Keith is deathly afraid of heights, and gets extremely dizzy when forced to ascend to high places. His unnatural fear of dogs was spawned when he was young.

Bio: Keith grew up in a poor immigrant community in America, his father from France and his mother from Bulgaria. Life was good for the first few years, but the stresses of making a living in an unfamiliar place eventually took it's toll on the family. Keith's father struggled to find stable work, and often took to the bottle. His mother, while a wonderful, loving woman, became increasingly afraid of her husband, and was unable to predict or control his violent outbursts. As such, Keith suffered beatings at the hands of his drunken dad several times a week, and his mother often had bruises all over her arms, back, and neck. An incident occurred when Keith was 10 that spawned his unusual fear of canines - his father, deeply inebriated and belligerent, flew into a rage when Keith accidentally dropped a plate on the floor that shattered into pieces. Already unable to see clearly, his dad hoisted Keith over his shoulder and flung him roughly into the junk yard behind the house, a known gathering place for stray dogs. Already bloodied from his landing, the dogs sniffed out his scent and dove in to attack, at least a dozen of them, barking, biting, trying to rip and tear at Keith's body. Luckily enough, he was able to escape with his life, but he had suffered two deep wounds on his leg and back, wounds that left scars until this day.

Soon after the incident, Keith's mother took him and fled from her husband, finding safety in a local women's shelter. It was here that Keith could finally find some peace and begin to enjoy his already fading childhood. His mother found a job at local dessert bakery, and - with her knowledge and expertise of the art - quickly moved up to the position of lead pastry designer. Keith, meanwhile, began attending high school, where he excelled in academics and joined the swim team. One day in the showers after practice, Keith noticed that he felt a certain attraction for one of his now closest friends, a Daniel Thorpe. As they spent more and more time together during breaks and after school, Keith realized that he had more than just a friendship with Daniel. Afraid for what might happen to his mother if anyone found out, Keith made the painful decision to break off the relationship, leaving both him and Daniel heartbroken. But Keith had acted too late - someone had already seen them together and raised an alarm. When Keith arrived at his mother's bakery that afternoon, his usual stop, his mother was being questioned outside by a pair of dangerous looking men. When she saw him, she begged him in a panic to run as fast as he could, but the men were faster, and caught up to him. As they were dragging him away kicking and screaming, a gun shot rang from behind a line of nearby bushes, and one of the men dropped, blood pouring from his cranium. Another shot missed wildly and struck a nearby vehicle. Taking the opportunity to break free, Keith struggled away from the remaining man and darted towards his mother.

"You don't need to explain," she said hurriedly, gathering her courage. "You need to get out of here, and I know just who can help you." Another gun shot sealed the fate of the other man as he attempted to escape, and his mother ran back into the bakery to place a call. Keith looked into the bushes and was shocked to see his lover Daniel, holding the gun in his hand with a solemn grin on his face.

"Daniel!" Keith cried out, but there was nothing he could do. The authorities swooped in to avenge their fallen comrades, and Daniel was shot dead on the spot. Stricken with grief and sorrow, Keith could do nothing but stand there as more men closed in on him. His mother was ready, however, and darted outside screaming bloody murder. Distracted by the ruckus, the men turned away just long enough for Keith to dash in the other direction, tears pouring from his eyes as he heard three more gun shots behind him. He felt it in his soul - he knew his mother was dead. But he kept running, and running, and running, and somehow, the folks that his mother had called finally found him and took him away to a place where he could be safe.
