Alanys Mayor

"Survival is a concern for someone who has something to loose. I don't."

0 · 306 views · located in The Rud'bul System

a character in “A Few Credits More”, as played by Kohananinja

Description

Appearance: Alanys is a slim blonde woman standing around 5’7 with almost unbelievably wide blue cobalt eyes. Like most inhabitants of her planet, Cicero V, her skin is a burnished tan color that Emperor Hiron Cozzak found to be the most attractive pigment wise. Her face is rather pretty, though in the natural worker class way found on her planet, which is in stark contrast to the striking near genetic facial perfection surgically implanted on those of the ruling class. Her eye color is also unusual coming from natural means, though most attribute the color as part of her genetic mutation.

Personality: At one time, Alanys was surprisingly a rather laid back and cheerful person. Prone to wisecracking at inappropriate times, and perhaps as part of her mutation, she brought a level of lightheartedness to a sometimes stressful job aboard the Fat Dragon. She could also be a bit of a mother hen, as she cared deeply for the members of the Fat Dragon's crew. They were the closest thing to family she'd ever known. Once, Alanys was a likable person who got along easily with others, if at times difficult to form deep relationships with. Being trapped for three years in the Rud'bul system though, has taken a toll. Her addiction to the drug Xinso, became a serious issue for her functionality as she became cut off from any supply. She learned to cope, some ways healthier than others. The end result has been a hardening of the once cheerful first mate and security officer, but it is with the execution of her best friend and captain, Franz Malhotra, that her icy transformation has become complete.

Survival is a concern for someone who has something to loose. Alanys once escaped a planetary civil war as a child. Part of her finds it ironic she's found herself in the middle of one now, but at lest this time she's got something to fight for; revenge. Once Alanys Mayor was a person who hated using her genetic mutation on other people. Once, Alanys cared about the ultimate outcome of the Rud'bul conflict, and the system's ultimate stability. That Alanys died with Franz Malhotra. The corpse that remains is nothing but an icy wraith hell bent on destroying the Corp, and damn the consequences. What ever it takes, whatever she has to do to achieve this goal, Alanys is going to watch the Corp burn, or die trying...

Natural Genetic Mutation: Alanys was born with a genetic marker that made her an ideal candidate for the process of mutation farming developed on her home planet of Cicero V. The resulting mutation developed by that process allows her to affect people in a way that is manipulative. The genetics research lab on Cicero V had labeled the ability Mental and Emotional Suggestion. This allows Alanys to “control people” in a sense, though it falls much more along the lines of subtle manipulation. For example, people who are complete strangers might feel a sudden emotionally attachment toward Alanys, or an angry aggressor might find themselves hit with a wave of sudden euphoric calm long enough for her to slip away. She can also fan the flames of emotions people are already feeling naturally. The tiniest of suspicions can be transformed into full thrown paranoia is so has the will to make it so. Her ability regarding the “mental” part of the suggestion is more complicated, but in essence, people can feel a sudden desire to do things she asks when she uses it. This ability is not fool proof, as people can fight off the wave of emotion or subtle coercion, especially if they are aware of what she’s doing. It works best on people caught unawares, those without a high level of will power, those who deep down want to do it anyway, and children. Alanys no longer has any qualms over using her alities when necessary, which has refined her control somewhat, though she does not always have control over her draw. This natural draw makes people feel attached to her in ways that can affect people differently, though it is not particularly powerful unless she focuses it, or someone is already prone to obsessive tendencies.

History: To understand Alanys’s history, you have to know about the history and conditions of Cicero V. A smaller planet, but richly endowed with natural resources, wildlife, and conditions similar to that of earth, Cicero V is the only inhabitable planet in its star system, This, coupled with its independent sustainability, gave the planet a certain kind of isolation. The colonies originally settling on Cicero V were mutation geneticists, and independent farm families looking to cultivate the planet’s agricultural resources under the promise of free land. A plague indigenous to the planet itself brought on a crisis that ushered in the era of a new regime that changed the free market farm society into an empirical kind of dictatorship with two very distinct goals and classes. The Ciceronian Empire, broken up into its educated and armed ruling class that controlled all the ports off planet and the limited inter planetary trade, and the uneducated working class that labored for the agriculture and mining industries, is famous on the inter galactic market for purchasable genetic enhancements. The Empire itself is rather obsessed with genetic enhancement, and achieving the perfect human form.

Children like Alanys who were born with the genetic markers necessary to create and farm genetic mutations, and without the benefit of being part of the educated class, were typically seized by the state under the premise of being either a government threat, or asset. Regardless, all were taken to the testing labs in the capital city of Remus, where their natural mutation was scientifically enhanced, and then developed into distinct superhuman enhancements. Data was then collected on the nature of their mutation, and how to synthetically duplicate it if possible. Depending on the manifestation of the mutation, the process can be invasive, painful, or in worse case scenarios; fatal. Once no more data could be collected, they were separated throughout the city to be of further use to the state. Some, whose mutation were mostly of a cosmetic and superficial nature, were sold for the private use of wealthier citizens currently in favor with the emperor, most however, were given over to Circa, or more commonly called “the games”. Circa worked as Cicero V’s private televised form of entertainment, working as a wide spanning variety show, dabbling in everything from beauty pageants and athletic competitions, to reality TV segments featuring some of the more popular children. The most popular event however, was the Melee, which took place twice a year. It was not the only blood sport involved with Circa, but it was the most popular. The theme changed every season, though the general premise of teams was popular. There was also an age limit of 13 to those assigned to the event. Technically speaking, once a child in Circa reached the age of 18, they were released as private citizens for their service to the state. The number of children who actually make it out alive however, was slim to none, and was generally rigged that way by the Melee.

Through the duel efforts of the ever growing discontent amongst the working class, members amongst the ruling class (many of which having children with mutations, or natural mutations themselves) with moral objections to Circa, and human rights activists from off planet, a successful staged a rebellion ten years ago against Emperor Hiron Cozzak, who was considered by many to be a bit unhinged as it was, and his regime. Alanys was 14 at the time, and already survived two Melees. Cicero V currently exists in a state constantly swinging between militaristic faction wars, and all out anarchy, making it a less than desirable planet to live. Alanys, like many other children from Circa, chose to leave planet immediately with the human rights activists. Having little to no memory of any family she might have had to begin with, and having nothing but bloody memories involving the planet, she had very little to keep her on Cicero V’s war torn surface. Alanys has been in space ever since, having no desire to grow roots on any planet or serve any particular government, preferring instead the freedom of private trade. She’s spent 10 years working on such vessels, before settling in as first officer aboard The Fat Dragon.
Her addiction to the drug Xinso began soon after her departure from Cicero V, though her first exposure to it was on the planet itself. It proved successful in curtailing the unpredictable anxiety attacks she used to suffer from, as well as the nightmares. The drug is highly addictive, is known to have corrosive effects on the liver over time. Add that to the typically deadly withdrawal symptoms, makes it a tough addiction to kick, even if the user wants to. Most times they don't. Three years ago however, that choice was made for her. After becoming stranded with her crew in the Rud’bul system, with no outside trade to supply her needed fix, Alanys was forced to detox. The experience almost killed her. Alanys only survived the experience because of Mal; another debt the former first officer is keenly aware she’ll never be able to repay.

Alanys has always been somewhat of a lost soul, adrift without any real purpose or conviction to drive her course in life. Mal’s ambitions had been enough for her, a trait that made her an excellent first officer and friend. If events had transpired differently, the two might even have been something more. Sometimes, life just isn’t that kind. With Mal’s death, Alanys’ world has been set on fire. She’s driven in a way she never was before, single mindedly focus on a single goal; revenge. Whatever it takes, no matter who she has to go through or destroy, those responsible for Mal’s death are going to burn with charred remains of her former life.

So begins...
