History:
The Rockefeller name comes with a lot of privilege, and Ariana was introduced to that fresh out of the womb. She is the second child of David Rockefeller, Jr. (73), and Diana Newell-Rowmen (58), but only stole the second child spot by two minutes, since her her twin sister was born just minutes after. Besides the twins, David and Diana also conceived two sons together, one older, and one younger than Ariana. Her parents were both career-oriented people but didn't allow their children to be raised by nannies, as many of their friends did. Both parents were heavily involved in Ariana's childhood and were the main people who encouraged her to reach her full potential. It wash a major reason for her success in life, but also garnered an unhealthy level of competitiveness in her, especially when it came to her twin sister. No matter what her sister did, Ariana had to do it better. It is a trait that is still well and alive in her now, even though they're older.

She attended The Buckley School in Sherman Oaks for grades K-12 and flourished there. She was the top of her class academically and was the girl that no one dared to cross socially. Her popularity may have been obtained by instilling fear in her peers rather than adoration, but regardless, she was the Queen Bee. All it took was one wrong look and you could be sent to the bottom of the social ladder in an instant. Her parents wanted her to be the best at everything and she was determined to do so. If maintaining her spot at the top meant becoming a bully, then so be it.

Following high school, Ariana enrolled in Yale and earned a business degree in three years. It wasn't so much a necessity for survival as it was a way to further prove her intelligence. Ariana would never have to work a day in her life if she didn't want to, but after graduating college, she launched her own organic cosmetics line. It's been almost a year since the products have been on the market and with the growing number of eco-aware customers, the line is thriving. She's in the process of working on a line of houseware items made from recycled, environment-friendly materials which she hopes to launch this winter.

Secret(s):
She's cheated on Owen twice in the year they've been dating.

Positive Traits:
Observant | Quick-Witted | Astute | Well-Articulated | Appreciative

Character Flaws:
Competitive | Vain | Vengeful | Cold | Instigator

Personality:
Ariana would describe herself as being a strong and independent woman who knows what she wants and isn't afraid to take it. She's assertive, confident, outspoken and bold and believes all of those characteristics are necessary for success. Her leadership skills are exemplary, especially in the professional work space, but a lot of this can also be attributed to how manipulative and cold she can be. She knows how to word things to make sure people know not to cross her without having to explicitly say it, and she often leaves people wondering whether she just gave them a sincere compliment or an underhanded insult. Ari thinks that being aggressive garners respect, and while it sometimes does, it also creates fear and prevents people from wanting to get close to her. She's rarely challenged, but has never had many close friends, especially girl friends. She knows how to be sexy and flirtatious and captivate male attention, but when it comes to females, her character flaws always seem to destroy friendships.

Her competitive nature may have something to do with underlying self-esteem issues. Instead of recognizing that she's great as herself, she thinks it's necessary to be better than others to prove her own worth. If she's not the smartest, the fastest, the wealthiest, than what good is she? It didn't take long for her to realize that it's impossible to be the best at everything in life, but she isn't comfortable with just accepting this as a fault in reality. If she feels threatened in any way, she lashes out. It's never usually an obvious attack, but she's not above instigating negative situations and trying to ruin people's happiness to make herself feel superior. It's toxic, unhealthy and just plain mean, and more and more, she is beginning to feel guilty about it. She doesn't understand why she can't be happy with her own life without stepping on others in the process, especially now, when she feels like she's old enough to be beyond the petty games.

Despite the dominant negative traits, she isn't entirely frozen over. She's generous with her fortune, genuinely appreciates the people who work for her and help her, and is protective of her close friends and family. Although she has no problem screwing them over, she does take offense when other people wrong them and will stand up for them. Her reputation is extremely important to her and since she believes that "you're judged by the company you keep", she doesn't want anyone she associates with to be criticized or involved in scandal either.

Likes:
Social media | Sour candy | Healthy eating | Manicures | An even tan | Autumn in New England | The smell of the ocean | Febreeze | The Big Bang Theory | Money | Power | Competitions | Roses

Dislikes:
Losing in anything | Chocolate ice cream | Criticism | Beer | White bread | Overly salty foods | Sexism | Rejection | Unrequited love | One night stands | Rap music | The welfare system

Fears:
Being cheated on | Never developing close relationships with people | Sharks

She has no major phobias but is a noticeably jumpy person. She's easily startled and can't stand when people sneak up, surprise or prank her.

Aspirations:
She wants to run an empire and make a name for herself outside of her family's. Her cosmetics line is taking off and she plans on expanding it to incorporate other product types in the near future. Right now, she's more career-focused than anything else and while she does want to get married at some point, she's not ready to settle down just yet.

July Fourth was a big party holiday every year. The fact that it fell on a Friday this year, and that the California weather was as perfect as one could have asked for it to be, only pointed towards the idea that people were going to go bigger and harder than usual that night. Owen knew that his friend group was going to be no exception to that. This afternoon was the day when everyone was officially moving into his house. It wasn't as big of a deal as his father and stepmother made it to be before they left yesterday, considering that the Rockefellers, Slim-Helús, and Newmans all had houses or condos within an hour or two driving distance, if not less. It wasn't like they couldn't run off there, or with all of their money, to another state or country if the mood called for it, but they had all agreed to spend most nights in the Collins' abode. It was supposed to be a way for all of them to bond and reconnect, and Owen honestly liked the idea. How long had it been since he was able to hang out with Yesenia and CJ without it feeling rushed? He felt like he hadn't seen Colette in decades too. It was just going to be nice to have everyone he cared about under one roof. Owen wasn't some dreamer who was blindly optimistic and thought that everything was going to be perfectly. He was more of the opposite than that, actually, but he still had hope that all of his friends would want to have as much of a good and fun time as he, that things could actually go well.

It was three o'clock now, which meant that everyone should have been arriving, had they not already. The actual party that was being hosted at their house was scheduled for five o'clock, so they had time to all get settled in before the party guests showed up. With Owen's lack of enthusiasm when it came to partying planning, was going to be a lot more casual than it would have been had Ariana had control over it. Or Yesenia. Or Colette, for that matter. Tons of kegs of beer, a seemingly unlimited supply of hard liquor, a DJ, beer pong tables, a big fire pit, the pool (if anyone got frisky enough to go skinny dipping), fireworks that would go off at the end of the night, and a hell of a lot of barbecue food seemed like a good time for him. He didn't think they needed fancy finger foods, performers or any of the frill to have a good time, but he was sure that if he was wrong, he would never hear the end of it.

Ariana's family's house in Beverly Hills was being completely renovated while her parents spent the summer in New York and Paris, so she had left most of her things at their family's Venice Beach beach house. She claimed that it was an easier commute than her own place that she owned in Newport Beach, but she had promised that she was going to bring everything she needed to his house today so she wouldn't have to make a commute at all over the summer (or expect him to too, for that matter). She had left hours ago to do that, though, and since he hadn't heard from her since, it left him feeling uneasy. The fact that Colette, Chris and Yesenia had been pretty absent contact wise didn't make it any better either, so as he headed out of his bedroom and down to the kitchen, he sent a text message out to the group, one to Ariana, and then one to his sisters separately.

To: Nia, CJ, Colette, Leo, Rob
So... hoping you people show up sooner than later? Where is everyone?

With the size of the Collins' house, it was completely possible that some of them were lurking around the property without him knowing, but it felt safer to just check in with them directly.

To: Ariana
Hey, you on your way back?

To: Mari, Alexandra
You both ready for the party later? Come down to the kitchen if you have a second so we can make sure we're all on the same page. Idk where everyone else is

The drive from the Rockefeller's Venice Beach beachfront house to Beverly Hills was only around a half an hour drive. It was one that Ariana had made many times, considering that the family's main residency in California was their Beverly Hills home, which was currently being completely renovated. Owen's house was only a few minutes away from that one, so she was used to the drive from her beach house there. However, after she had picked up some of her things and Chris from their Venice Beach house, her brother had insisted on driving home. His car was already at the Collins' residency, but something he (incorrectly) claimed that he was a better and faster driver than Ariana and that he should get to drive them back to Beverly Hills, for time's sake. Throughout the thirty minute ride back, Ariana had no idea what had possessed her to agree to it. Christopher was just as reckless on the road as he was in his day to day life, and Ariana was genuinely surprised that they made it to Beverly Hills in one piece.

While they were driving, Christopher had given Ariana his phone, telling him to put on one of his playlists, since he was apparently brazen enough today to think that he was a better driver than her and had better taste in music. It was laughable, really, but Ari was in a good mood today, so she humored it. Plus, she didn't set his phone back down on the center console right away. CJ either didn't notice, or didn't care that she looked through his phone for a good twenty minutes. His text message thread with Owen, with Yesenia, with Colette, his photos... she looked through all of it. She didn't think her brother had anything to hide, but Ari liked knowing people's business. She liked having dirt on people because it gave her the upper hand. The power. And she would have had a ton of power had she had the brains to check his "recently deleted" photo album, where a couple photos of Alexandra half-nude and wrapped around him would have really taken her by surprise. She wasn't looking that intensely though, and as they pulled through the Collins first set of security gates, she set her brother's phone down on the car's center console. "You drive worse than Colette does," she remarked as she leaned forward to grab her Hermes bag from the floor. "And that says a lot." Her own phone had been tucked away safely in her bag, so she was only seeing Owen's texts now, and despite being there, she still couldn't focus on them completely because of Chris' driving. "What are you doing? You don't need to drive it to the garage. Leave it here and someone will take care of it," she scoffed. Surprisingly, she and Chris actually got along but she had her dose of her brother for the day with this car ride, and was ready to get out. When the car stopped and she did get out, she took a moment to respond to Owen's text before heading into the house. The house staff would take care of her bags too, she assumed, so she didn't worry about them.

To: Owen
Just pulled in. I'll find you ;).

After briefly questioning a housekeeper about Owen's whereabouts, Ariana was directed to the kitchen. She found her boyfriend there, and greeted him with a smile. Ariana's relationship with Owen was complicated in her head, but probably seemed legit enough to most of the outside world. The fact that it was founded on jealousy and made up feelings just to take him away from Colette made it a shaky relationship to begin with, but she did feel something for him to have been with him for a year. If she really didn't like Owen at all, she would have stayed with him for a couple of months and then dumped him. All she needed was two or three months to make the "that's so wrong to even think about dating my ex" card valid if Colette ever tried to pursue those feelings for him again. It was wrong, so wrong, for Ari to purposely try to squash something that she knew would make her sister happy but she couldn't help it. It would have been one thing if she had been in an amazing relationship herself, but even then Ariana didn't know if she would be able to stand seeing her sister get someone like Owen. As the #1 male model in the world, he was a bit of a trophy boyfriend, even if he wasn't someone who she was automatically attracted to as boyfriend material to begin with. "Hey you," she smiled, setting her bag down on the kitchen counter as she made her way towards the table he was sitting at. "Miss me?" she teased, leaning down to kiss him.

Thankfully, within a five minute period, he had heard back on four of their whereabouts. Mari and Lex were still MIA, as was Rob and Leo, but since Nia had answered, she was sure Leo was fine, and since Ari had answered, the same had to go for Rob. His own sisters... he wasn't as sure about. At least Lex. Mari could take care of herself and was probably floating around somewhere, and he knew that his mental health was better off not knowing where or what Alexandra was doing.

To: Nia
No surprise. I'd put money on Colette over you any day of the week :P

He didn't answer Ariana and CJ, knowing that he'd probably see them before they even had a chance to read his responses, and he was right. First came Ariana, and that brought the realest smile to his face. Owen knew how lucky he was to have her as a girlfriend. Some of his very close friends would try to tell him otherwise, that maybe her intentions with him weren't so pure, or that she was too far out of his league to actually like him, but he didn't believe it. She had been the first girl who he had a real relationship with, that had lasted more than a couple of months. She seemed to love him and from his opinion, things were really going steady. He would never say it to her because he knew that taking things to fast scared people off, but she was the kind of girl he could see himself marrying someday. Sometimes he wondered if it was just his teenage fantasies egging him on, and if he had actually grown up from that fifteen-year-old boy who lusted over the most popular girl in school... but no, this was good. Just because he had felt some sort of way for Colette a couple of years ago, and maybe, just maybe still kind of did, didn't mean anything. He was in a happy and healthy relationship. Fuck the haters. "Of course," he answered as she approached and kissed him. See? It wasn't just him making all the advances. "I was scared everyone had went MIA on me. Nia and Colette are on their way in, I think. They were out playing tennis," he explained.

All it took was the mention of her sister and Yesenia for Ariana to feel a little more tense. She didn't think of the two as competition, since she already had Owen securely wrapped around her finger, but... still... she felt some sort of way about the two of them when it came to her boyfriend. It made her feel enough of whatever that feeling was, that she grinned at Owen, leaned back in for a kiss, and found herself sitting on his lap. She knew it was silly, and she definitely wasn't a big advocate for PDA, but if she needed to stake her claim once more, than so be it. Plus, it wasn't like Owen was a bad kisser... but when she heard Christopher walk in, she had to pull away. She didn't get up from the comfortable seat on his lap, and just loosely wrapped her arms around his neck, but she turned her head slightly to watch him come in. "I don't know how we're going to get enough privacy in this house this summer," she whispered to Owen, accompanying it with a playfully seductive wink.

Obviously, meeting Christopher and the Wicked Witch of the West at the front door was not a part of the plan since, by the time the girls met one of Yesenia's favorite drivers there for their Health Nut delivery, both of the other Rockefeller siblings had just made their way inside the mansion. Not like Colette was trying to see either of them any time soon. Rather, not like she was trying to see one of them any time soon. Gracias , Amancio . Dile a todos a comportarse mientras que yo me haya ido," she said upon grabbing the large bag while Colette took the Strawberry Mango Iced Greentinis from him. Amancio only nodded. "Por supuesto , señorita. Disfruta tus vacaciones." He replied, nodded again as a parting, and then headed back to the Mercedez Benz town car he typically drove the Slims in when they were not using their respective vehicles. "We have food, good. Now you can stop whining like a little bitch." Colette said and turned towards the front door. Yesenia, busy smirking through biting her lower lip at the response from Chris, took a minute before following her friend. "Hey, I resent that! It takes a lot to maintain all," and dramatic or not, she had to emphasize with her hands the voluptuousness of her rump, "of this." Colette sneered at her. "Dramatic, much?" Yesenia replied very simply, "Pot, meet kettle."

While Colette typically adherred to a vegan diet - pescatarian, initially - she was actually willing to have a weekly free day to eat as she pleased. Nothing too absolutely hectic for her stomach since the adjustment to her newer diet took some time and she wasn't that privy to killing herself. At the same time, it was early and she already knew that there would be copious amounts of meat later for the Fourth of July party Owen wanted to host. She didn't need to partake in any of that food just yet, and when had she ever denied herself the deliciousness of Health Nut? Which was how she had gotten Yesenia to get have Amancio pick up an organic quinoa salad for Colette, and a High Protein salad for Nia. Who apparently could not live without meat to save her life.

Who also was still smirking at her phone a bit in contemplation.

"You're flirting with my brother," Colette accused after a beat, heading into the direction of the main kitchen. It was a typical place for meeting up in the Collins' home, which she couldn't ignore since Chris had sent her her own little text which had her glowering. Yesenia didn't answer, just set to actually responding. Colette's face morphed into one of faux disgust. "Stop flirting with my brother, you slut." Yesenia grinned, pressing send and bumping Colette lightly with her hip. "What's wrong, Bitchlette? Jealous?" She purred with a leer and Colette rolled her eyes. "Puh-lease, I'm just saving you another STD screening trip." Not that she had a particular problem with her best friend and her brother...since the two of them were best friends. And obviously cared about each other. And flirted way more than normal best friends did, which defeated the purpose of being...friends. But of course...

...who was she to judge?

To: Chris
Not so fast, loverboy. Can't have u thinkin I'm 2 easy, can I?

To: Owen
Ummm, rude. No bff pts 4 u

And as luck would have it, Ariana and Owen were actually...there. In the kitchen. Greeeeaaaaaaaatttt, Colette thought, a rather tight smile forming on her face at the sight of her sister...very possessively seated on Owen's lap. Because it wasn't enough that Colette knew they were dating. Had heard it through the grapevine like a broken record: Don't you think Owen and Ariana are the cutest couple ever? They're sooooooo precious, right? Obvi adorbs, huh? You must be, like, soooooo jealous! He's such a catch. And yes, she was jealous and yes, she was aware at how precious they were and no, she did not need a fucking show, Ariana. Thank you very fucking much. What made it worse was that, in the midst of inadvertently (or advertently, since at this point Colette did not know nor really care) showcasing her relationship, Ariana looked perfect. Not a speck of anything short of perfection on her. Curls perfectly placed. Makeup flawlessly natural. And Colette - despite her hundred dollar sportswear, hair which most girls could not rock as perfectly after a surprisingly intense game of tennis, with her makeup still intact - felt and was bland. "Well, don't you all look cozy in here?" It wasn't really a question, but it was something to be said and it made Yesenia's eyebrow twitch upwards. Because she knew.

Of course, she fucking knew.

Which was why she didn't really react to Ariana and Owen. Didn't even look in their direction for much longer, opting instead to turn her amused gaze in Christopher's direction. "All this PDA in the room and you're just standing there?" She inquired, heading over to the kitchen island so that she could set her and Colette's bag of food on it. Smirking growing ever so slightly, she added with a lascivious twinkle in her eyes, "Don't tell me you've gotten into voyeurism without me, now?" It was enough to dispel whatever...sexual...unnecessary...unfounded...air that might have been in the room before the girls' arrival. It was also enough to knock Colette, which was her main goal, out of her funk for the brunette's nose wrinkled with disgust as she hurled a "Ewwww!! their way, coming over with their drinks so that Yesenia could eventually dig into her salad. Working out and being a good friend was hard work, after all.

Chris was no Owen. He wasn't that super protective older brother who would threaten to stab any guy that gave his sister a second glance. Maybe it was because the age gap between him and the twins was only two years, compared to Owen and Alexandra's seven year gap. Maybe it was because he knew his sisters wouldn't give a damn about what he had to say about their personal lives. Maybe it was because Owen could get a little psychopath-ish, and Chris was just too lax to care that much, unless someone seemed like they were definitely going to hurt one of his sisters. Even with that difference in personalities, he still didn't care to see his best friend all over his sister like that. It was his sister who was technically on top of Owen, but still, it seemed a little disrespectful. Chris couldn't talk though, but he did consistently remind himself that if anyone had stepped into the sister territory first, it had been Owen, so was he that wrong for messing around with Alexandra occasionally?

He was just glad that Ariana pulled her face away from Owen's when he walked in, but it wasn't soon enough before Colette and Yesenia walked in. Compared to Ariana (which was something Colette had to hear a lot), Colette was the most emotional person on Earth. That was why it didn't surprise him when the first comment she made was referencing how "cozy" Owen and Ari looked. Even with his tendency to stay out of his sisters' personal lives, Chris was aware of the... whatever it was... between Owen and Collette. He didn't know that she actually had a crush on him or that Owen had, at least at one point, had a crush on her too, but they were close. And compatible. And just because Ariana tended to steal everything that Colette had or wanted, it seemed like jealousy was a frequent emotion in the younger of the twins. He didn't know that Colette had a real reason to be jealous, since Ari had knowingly snatched Owen right out of Collie's reach on purpose, but he felt that at the very least, she was bothered by her friendship with Owen being tossed to the side the second Ari decided she wanted him. CJ couldn't blame her. He knew just as well that this little show was Ariana being possessive and trying to prove something to someone. And despite whatever snide remarks Nia had to say about it, Chris couldn't have cared less. He had grabbed a water bottle before the girls had gotten into the kitchen, so he took a slug of it before mirroring Collette's disgusted reaction. "I second that 'ew'," he said as he followed Colette towards the island that Nia was by. "You two bring food for just the two of you, then think it's cool to sit here and eat it in front of us? Does Ariana need to give you another lesson on manners, Collie?" he said, making fun of both of them in one sentence. His focus switched quickly though as he just now had a chance to look at his phone and read Yesenia's message, and yeah, it did have him smirking as his eyes moved away from the phone to look at her, before he looked back down to send her a message.

To: Yesenia
Known you for 10+ years and haven't gotten to tap it yet. Easy's not a word I'd associate with you. Come on... just a shower ;). It'll be harmless... unless you're scared that one shower's gonna leave you head over heels for me

Things fell into place, and her timing was perfect as Colette and Yesenia came into the kitchen just a minute after Christopher. It meant that things didn't have to go too far with Owen, and yet far enough so that her point was definitely made clear once Colette commented on it. Ari had looked back at Owen between the time CJ came in and the girls did, and she made sure not to pull her eyes or his hands away from his face for a few seconds after the comment was made. She responded to it with just a giggle and ignored Yesenia's comment to her brother. She would rather her tease Christopher than Owen anyway. With one last peck to Owen's lips, she slid off of his lap and opted to stand by the side of his chair, her fingers absentmindedly playing with his hair as she watched the events by the island unfold.

CJ was right. Colette and Yesenia whipping out their meals without an offer to share, or a text earlier in the day asking if anyone wanted to put in an order too was rude, but it wasn't all that surprising. She had eaten earlier in the day and had had a snack again before leaving Venice Beach, so she wasn't hungry and definitely wasn't interested in sharing either of their meals, anyway. Still, Ariana had decided years ago that Yesenia lacked basic manners and class, and it went without saying that Colette was rude in more ways than just eating a salad in front of them. Coming back to New York and not even attempting to contact her was rude enough in itself for Ariana to know that it wasn't worth it to try to give her sister an etiquette lesson on something else that was so trivial. It wasn't like that Ari had reached out to Colette either over the past month, but she actually had a real job and was a busy woman. She would blame Colette for not making the attempt. "Don't be an instigator, Christopher," she warned. At this point, she didn't even realize how much she sounded like her mother sometimes...how her relationship with her siblings had gotten to a point where she was sometimes so condescending that she actually did feel like an adult dealing with children. "Speaking of manners though," she said, stepping away from Owen and closer to her sister, "how has New York been treating you, Collie? Mom said you don't bother to call her much either, so I guess I shouldn't be offended that I don't know what's going on in my own sister's life."

Colette made an entirely displeased face as her brother peered down at her, inquiring if she needed Ariana to teach her manners. Sure, right after she teaches you about chastity. Heard of it? And the thought was at the tip of her tongue, but Colette only rolled her eyes, turning away as Yesenia pulled out Colette's salad to hand it to her before the Latina perched herself rather comfortably on one of the stools. Yesenia peered down at her phone, just for a moment, to see Chris' response via text messaging and giggled outright, a bright and coquettish smile on her face. "For the record, there's like a gazillion different foods being prepared in every kitchen in the house. Not to mention the fact that I need seven meals a day and you know this for a fact, Chris. I can't be held responsible for you not taking the initiative to provide yourself sustenance." Colette didn't even move to question the expression on her bestie's face (because that did not look, in any way, innocent), sitting in the stool next to her bestie just in time to hear Ariana admonishing Chris. Which meant she was next. Well, she could hope not.

And hope, she could not have.

"New York's fine," Colette replied, voice a slight octave higher without her meaning it to be. It was a sign of the strain their interactions - the accusations - invoked within her. She sipped at her own tea before continuing. "And I've already spoken to mother about this. I needed space and New York was the perfect opportunity to get it." She wanted to include, To get away from all of you. More you, but you get the picture. And she knew Ariana did get it, in some way. In whatever twisted way she thought things through. Colette put on a much more convincing smile though, more relaxed, as she idly played with her salad using one of the spare forks. "Of course, that doesn't mean I haven't kept up with you...all of you, really. How is everything?"

Yesenia didn't bother to allow herself to be dragged into whatever thing the sisters were sharing at the moment, didn't feel the need to. Not yet anyway. Besides, she had a certain Rockefeller sending her a very...compromising text message. Which she started, that much Nia could admit. However...was she even being...fair? Was it smart to be influencing this, especially now? Especially when Yesenia knew exactly who Christopher had been recently dealing with? It was enough to make her not respond and she dipped her fork into her own salad before smirking again, turning to offer Chris the forkful. "Come on, you big baby. I can share." It was only a second later that she recalled that there wasn't just four people in the room. Well, Yesenia didn't forget that her other best friend was in the room. She had just been...distracted by the other one. Totally not her fault, here.

"And there better be good music today, Owen. I swear if you hired that guy from last time..." Yesenia had to shudder at the memory, fork still poised to feed Chris if he took up her offer.

To: Owen
Date. Omw

To: Lex
Surprised u haven't killed Owen yet. Omw 2 ur place

Once those texts were sent, Leo slid his phone into his pocket, securing the device in its position with a click of a button. The last thing he needed is for Yesenia to go in on him - again - for dropping his phone while on his bike. Well, it was less about actually dropping the phone and more about the five cars that would have already rolled their heavy asses on it and virtually destroyed it, but who was really keeping track. Afterwards, he kicked his Vyrus 987 C3 4V into gear, revved it up, and headed in the direction of the Collins' estate. Luckily for him, his things were already situated at the luxurious home.

Despite what some (his sister) would say, Emilio Slim-Helú was not asexual and no, he didn't lie to Owen. He did just come from a date - with Maggie Lindemann. The two had begun their little affair some time last year, when she was in the middle of breaking up with the asshole-who-shall-not-be-named. She was a fun internet celebrity and singer, and Leo couldn't deny that she was pretty. Stupid pretty. Amazingly pretty with a really nice smile. Goofy without meaning to be and honestly should be a model and - not Alexa, he mind supplied, causing Leo to coincidentally speed up and leave the thought on the open road.

It didn't take long to reach the Collins' expansive estate and Leo purposefully sped up the long driveway, the imagery along the sides of the neat road swishing past him in a blur before he pressed for the breaks, his bike rumbling loudly, as if announcing their arrival. Emilio wasn't claiming that he was getting over Alexa; he was naive, but he wasn't foolish enough to believe he would get over...whatever this thing he felt for his best friend just because he willed it so. At the same time, it wasn't like he couldn't at least...try to get over it - expidite the process in some way. And no, there was no part of him that thought, hoped that maybe...just maybe...Lex might see the two of them and well...maybe get a little jealous?

Yep, no part of him at all.

Alexa had no interest in spending her day at home dealing with Owen and the crazy mood he was sure he was in with everything that was happening today. She felt like her brother put Bridezillas to shame with how uptight and nasty he could get over every and anything. It probably wasn't the most accurate comparison but that was how Lex felt. No matter what the dilemma was or what he was reacting to, she would blame him for overreacting. Rather than deal with him being him, on top of Marisol and Ariana and Colette and Yesenia; all people who she knew would blindly follow Owen's lead on any and everything, Alexa spent most of the early part of the day out. She took a yoga class with Kendall in West Hollywood before getting lunch and getting their nails done. She was so tempted to just stay out all day and sleep at her mom's that night, but she knew she couldn't abandon Leo with all of those buzzkills. Even though he didn't have it as bad as she had with her older sibling, he wasn't living easy with Yesenia either, and if he had to spend his last summer before college with her still on his back, he was going to have a miserable time. She couldn't let that happen to her best friend. He was going to live it up this summer, whether he thought he wanted to or not. She wasn't going to give him a choice.

She got home before Christopher and Ariana got to the house, and she knew that because she had specifically asked the security team if Chris was there yet. Disappointed that he wasn't, she knew it worked to her benefit because it gave her time to get ready. She still wasn't sure about what she wanted to wear later to the party, so for now she only showered, blow dried and straightened her hair and put on a casual Moschino tracksuit. With California summers, it was definitely too hard to wear something like that outside midday but she had no plans of leaving the house. She had just finished getting ready when Owen texted her and after reading the message he sent to her and Mari, it was promptly deleted. The last person she was going to willingly socialize with was her brother, and Mari could be just as bad when she was by Owen's side, but she was craving one of the Strawberry Lemonade GoodPops that were located in the kitchen's freezer...

To: Leo
Prob will have to momentarily... find me in the kitchen... possibly with his corpse

After texting Emilio, her cravings led her to the kitchen, and she was too far in before she could spin away at the sight of... everyone. Or mostly everyone. Ariana, Owen, Colette, Yesenia and Chris. Before Mari became family, those five were the original "big kids". She, Rob and Emilio were the younger siblings and would socialize with each other at events while the older five were all friends. Okay, friends probably wasn't the right word to use when including Ariana in that mix, but that wasn't the point. The point was that Alexa felt like they all had alliances with Owen that were stronger than with her, and to her, that automatically meant they couldn't be friends. Besides Christopher, who Alexandra was convinced she could be more than friends with. Just seeing him standing there gave her butterflies but with Owen sitting there, she couldn't do anything. Lex was brazen, arguably stupid sometimes, bold and provocative, but she knew better than to dig her own grave on what felt like the first official day of this summer. Seeing him (even if it was seeing him lunging towards Yesenia's forkful of food which made her want to slap the girl) made her smile. After getting her ice pop, she spun around and moved past the island and towards the table her brother sat at. "You wanted to chat?" she asked casually, surprisingly almost cheerfully as she stood beside him so that she could watch Chris. And Yesenia too.

Chris knew that Nia was right, and that there was definitely someone in the house preparing food. With a house that had multiple kitchens, and especially hours before a big party, it only made sense that there were personal chefs working for the family. Chris had spent a lot of time at the Collins' growing up, so it was something he knew anyway, but he could still make a big deal out of not just having the food handed to him without asking. Hell, he could still make a big deal out of having food literally handed to him, but not enough of it. He pushed Collete's food down enough so that he could pull himself up to sit on the edge of the island without crushing it, and accepted the bite full of Nia's food. "Wow, thanks for that. One bite of salad and suddenly I'm full," he responded, with sarcastic appreciation. He had seen her looking at her phone moments before but his phone hadn't vibrated since, so it seemed like it needed to be a little bit more direct. "No longer craving food, but strangely, I definitely am craving a shower," he continued, with a brazen smirk. He would have continued with an "Anyone else?" while grilling Nia with his eyes, but Alexandra walked in then, and he decided to hold his tongue. Not because he would have particularly minded showering with her either at the moment, but because Owen was sitting right there and Chris was trying to not make this summer more difficult for everyone. He didn't feel badly enough to have stopped engaging with Lex in the months following her 18th birthday, but he had enough respect to not do it in front of Owen's face.

The only plus to throwing Lex into this mix was that the way that she and Owen could go at it made his bickering sisters look like they were best friends. He had tossed Colette to the wolf and then backed out of it while making his comments to Nia, but when she asked how everything was with them, presumably just trying to act like she cared, he jumped back in. It seemed like a safer conversation to be involved in at the moment than Lex and Owen's, even if as of now, there was nothing hostile about it. Hopefully, Mari would show up just when needed and bring the balance to that pair of siblings that she sometimes could do. "Everything's been perfect with us, Coll. Even better that you're here now, though, since Ari isn't as good as competition as you are for the title of Alcoholic of the Family," he said.

It was a typical Colette excuse, a perfect example of how her sister always let her emotions get the best of her. She couldn't take the pressure in California, so the second she had the chance, she ran off to New York to blow their parents money on an additional apartment and oceans worth of alcoholic drinks. Ariana refused to even humor the idea that Colette was doing things on her own, that maybe her career in fashion was actually something that could be taken seriously and was going to support her for the rest of her life. On one hand, Ariana told herself that she just needed to be thankful that the heavens had bestowed all of the classic Rockefeller traits in her, since they clearly were not as generous when it came to her other three siblings, but at the same time, she liked competition. And Colette running away to New York and doing something that Ari had no interest in beating her at was boring. She couldn't demean Colette and her career, outside of the whole "is this really what you're doing with your life?" question, if she didn't know the side of the fashion world that extended just being an avid shopper. Ariana Rockefeller was not lazy, but she also didn't have the time to do what her competitive edge wanted her to do, and just dive into the world of fashion just to show Colette up. It was an unrealistic goal that would take years of her time and focus off of her own career. "Mom and Dad won't be here for ever, Collie, and I just think it's really selfish for you to forget your own family in some unrealistic quest to find yourself in New York," she wanted to say to her, but she bit her tongue. It wasn't too offensive of a comment, definitely not when compared to things Ari had said to Colette, but she would play that card at another time, preferably when Christopher wasn't there to make everything she said into some joke.

She found herself playing with Owen's hair again as she tried to ignore Yesenia flirted with her brother. Maybe it wasn't even flirting since Chris and Yesenia had always been good friends, but when Ari wanted to be petty, she could make anyone out to be a slut. It just so happened that this time, she was right and they were flirting back and forth, with the food feeding and then Chris' outlandish comment about showering. The only reason why you should be craving a shower is because you probably just got herpes from eating from her fork, she thought, but it wasn't something she could vocalize when her own brother was the one who slept around more than all of them combined. As Alexandra walked in and made a pitstop at the fridge, she smiled at Colette, but unlike her sister, didn't do her best at pretending that it was relaxed or genuine. She refused to acknowledge Chris' obnoxious comment. "Everything is good. I've - we've -" she paused, glancing back at Owen for a second, "never been happier. I'm even happier now knowing that my baby sister is happy too though," she finished. Oh, how easy it was to slide back into this relationship with her sister. And the worst part was, that Ariana never got tired of acting this way. After speaking, she gave a quick glance back towards Owen and Alexandra. She really did do her best to be the good cop to counteract Owen's bad cop when it came to dealing with Alexandra, but she hoped that this summer, the girl would have enough sense not to push her brother. She wouldn't admit it, but Alexa was one person who Ari hadn't mastered the art of putting down yet. The girl was innately rebellious and it was like no matter what was said, she would push back with more attitude.

Owen was the kind of boyfriend who would have another house built on their property if that was what it took to make Ari happy with the level of privacy, and still continue to get the night time action that he never knew existed on such a good level until he started dating Ari. So, when she whispered about the lack of privacy when Chris came in, all he did was chuckle a little bit. They would find privacy, without a doubt. Owen was excited to be able to socialize with all of his friends all summer, but that wasn't going to get in the way of his relationship with Ari, that was for sure. Although Ari had turned him on a lot, he was glad when she slid off of his lap when the girls came in and Colette made a comment that was followed by Yesenia teasing Chris. The dynamics between Chris and Nia were still on point, and Owen couldn't resist laughing quietly at Nia's comment, inaccurately calling Chris out for something so wrong. However, he felt weird that this was the first way that he was running into Colette since she left for New York. He wanted to get up, say hello, say something more personal than a hello... even a "how have you been?" would have sufficed, but it just felt weird and unnatural seeing her again in person after what felt like forever. Especially with Ariana there, her hands toying with his hands in a way that would have made it awkward for him to actually get up anyway.

After her comment about them seeming cozy, Colette didn't pay him any more mind anyway, so Owen guessed that he was just overthinking things. She seemed more excited to see that salad than him, so he just relaxed back in his chair, listening to the Rockefellers go back and forth, and watching Chris and Yesenia flirt. Neither one had actually told Owen of the feelings they had for each other, but as someone who ahd hung out with the two of them for years, Owen knew. Maybe better than the two of them even knew. He had detected the chemistry between them years ago, and Chris' chemistry with Nia was different than the chemistry that he had with Nia, which just left them as really good friends. It was sexual, and Owen couldn't blame Chris because for a period of time, he had shared those urges too, but he also knew that if Chris only had sexual feelings for Nia, they would have came and gone. This was something that had more potential, at least compared to the never ending string of one night stands that made up Chris' sexual history. "Come on, he wasn't that bad!" Owen protested when she brought up the last DJ he had hired for a party. He was... but he didn't want to admit it. This time, he had made sure to get the name of the guy that Yesenia used for her parties just so that he wouldn't hear any complaints. "But Leo sent me your guy's info, so you'll be happy to know that's who is going to be providing the music tonight."

Alexandra's entrance was subtle, but still gave him an excuse to stop focusing on trying to avoid looking at Colette. He watched his sister as she made her way from the doorway to the fridge, and then to his side, before offering him an innocent "you wanted to chat?". Today, he couldn't say that he had any issues with her, but that was only because he was trying to clean his slate with her every night, and start fresh the next morning. Otherwise, he would still have twenty thousand complaints from the day before to take up with her, and he didn't have the time, energy or desire to be that stressed out today. "I just wanted to make sure you were home and that you know people are going to start showing up here at five. And that you're not drinking tonight." He didn't want to spur a screaming match in the kitchen around everyone else, but at least now, he had witnessed to attest to the fact that he had tried to stop her when she ended up dead from alcohol poisoning in twelve hours. Seeing Alexandra reminded him of Leo, who he hoped and prayed would be able to keep his sister under control tonight so he didn't have to turn into that overprotective and controlling older brother. "Wow, you better watch your back," he teased, looking up from his phone after reading Leo's text and looking towards Nia. "Leo's late to hang out with us because he's on a date. Looks like he's got a new lady in his life who's more important than his own big sister."

Yesenia was caught in the middle of pointing an indignant - because that DJ was fucking horrible and a total waste of money - look at Owen and meeting Chris' gaze, which burned her from behind the veil of her long hair. The result was still, a look Owen's way, but her lowering her gaze back to her salad, sucking her plump lower lip under her teeth and biting it. I bet you are, she thought in his direction when he expressed a sudden "craving" for a shower. Shower, my ass. She thought and bumped Chris lightly with her shoulder, giving him a pointedly playful look just as Alexandra entered the kitchen. Colette, who would have normally made a comment about the two of them by now, firstly punched Chris lightly on the arm for his comment about being an alcoholic with a petulant "Jerk!" on her lips. Eventually, she nodded slowly at Ariana's response.

"Well, I'm glad. That you're happy," she replied, a bit more honestly than she would have believed earlier in the week. Her opinion might change, when more of their group didn't decide that the kitchen was the absolute perfect place to convene. But she was glad that her sister was happy. Was she glad about who she was happy with? It was at that moment that she was able to flick her gaze over to Owen, who coincidentally noted his sister's arrival, before returning her gaze back to her best friend. "I'll be even happier when this party starts...what are you wearing?" The question was posed to Yesenia, who chewed thoughtfully on a small mouthful of salad.

Yesenia was momentarily distracted, her gaze discreetly fixed on Alexandra when the youngest person in the room - and she really felt like there needed to be sign stating that for dumbasses like Chris who liked robbing the fucking cradle - entered, her gaze washing over Chris like some lovesick puppy. And honestly, since she reminded herself that Lex would technically always be a child before her, that meant that Yesenia shouldn't have felt so...bitchy. She shouldn't want to out both Chris and Alexa just to revel in one best friend getting the shit knocked out of him and Lex getting some "Beyond Scared Straight" monologue. Then again, she would be the first to tell you that she wasn't perfect. She did, however, decide to send out a text before speaking up again.

To: Chris
The nite & fun have only just begun. B patient ;D

"Don't know yet. Though...we should probably hit the showers before we figure that out. Definitely craving a thorough," she may have lowered her voice for a moment, but she really also shouldn't have sent a look Chris' way just because she knew Alexa was watching, "cleaning after that workout." Colette rolled her eyes. She definitely noticed that - whatever that had been. "Uh huh, sure. I'm just making sure you don't pull out that American flag bikini. I cannot be seen with you in that." Yesenia faked an offended look. "What's wrong with being patriotic?" She inquired and Colette replied dryly, "It's tacky. Now, eat your food." Yesenia only nudged her as she, playfully petulant, obeyed.

Colette was sure that if they finished eating soon, she and Yesenia could take their drinks upstairs and begin to get ready. They had an entire two months for Nia to spend flirting her way into not getting into bed with Chris. Surely, her best friend could be an actual best friend and comfort her. Or, at least, make her that one fruity drink that only Yesenia could make that tasted like pure heaven with a powerful punch alcohol that didn't even hit Colette until her third one. Totally worth the near-death experience, at this point. Owen spoke up again, which had Yesenia's eyes widening. "Ummmm, excuse you, no. I'm the best thing in that kid's life."

While most rich people went along trusting that the staff they paid for could take care of their vehicles, there were a few things Leo was actually just a bit crazy about. His bike, being one of them. It was one of the most expensive motorcycles in the world with a Ducati-engine - he would be damned. It was the one non-nerd, Yesenia's words, thing that Yesenia was actually proud of him being such a dude about. The first time he let her ride it without him had consisted of him practically threatening her with death. For some odd, twisted reason, that alone was enough to warrant him two shots of Patron. Go figure!

Once he saw that his bike was being ridden in the direction of the very spacious garage, Emilio ran a hand through his lightly tousled raven hair, sighed, and headed inside. His phone vibrated in his back pocket and he pulled it out to see Lex, and he wasn't surprised by her location. Knowing his own sister, she would probably be in that exact location, which made Emilio hasten his footsteps. Regardless of how chill Nia could be when she wanted to be, it was no secret that Lex didn't like her and the feeling was mutual. Which really, honestly, should not have been that much of a surprise...considering...her recent entanglements. Lex had a thing for Chris and Yesenia...Yesenia was complicated, but even he knew that there wasn't just friendship between those two. Already, Leo could feel a headache arising.

Soon enough, he could hear his sister's indignant claim that she was the "best thing in his life," which had Leo chuckling to himself as he stepped into the crowded kitchen while saying, "Okay, one, it's not that deep." It was his way of announcing his presence and noticing that there were other people, which made him falter for just a second, Leo smiled and waved to everyone else. But his gaze immediately found his sister, lips wrapped around a straw. "And two, really, Nia? The best thing?" He pressed and she cheesed at him, arms stretched out for the hug he reluctantly returned. "Of course, Hijo. The very best." It only made him roll his eyes, but Leo couldn't help but smile affectionately and nodded smilingly at Colette's own beaming welcome.

He wasn't surprised that Colette didn't respond with claws when Ariana responded to her question by being a typical Ariana, and yet still punched him. That was how they had to be with Ari a lot. Let her win, pretend you're over it and accept it, and hope that she lets whatever the conversation was about, go. There was never any use in trying to argue or compete with her, because she would always win. Chris thought he had found a secret weapon by being able to get under her skin by making her nagging into a joke, but if he was being serious, he would have grown to respond to Ari in similar ways as Colette. Hell, if he had spent his entire life having every single action he made compared to her, he would have been on a plane to New York the day he turned eighteen.

Even though Yesenia was clearly playing with him, trying to get him wrapped around her finger to where she was in control, with that comment and then the text, he couldn't resist smirking. She was good, he would give her credit for that, but she wasn't good enough to beat the master at his own game. He tried to figure out a smug response to the text as Leo walked in, and sent it after the boy had pulled away from his sister.

To: Yesenia
Do better, Nia ;) you make it too obvious that you want me but you're scared to admit it. shower or else you're clearly in love with me

"I'm seriously craving a grilled cheese right now. Who wants the honor of making one for me?" He then asked, pretending all was normal as he hopped off of the counter and made his way to the Collins' fridge. He very well could have asked Owen to ask one of the members to the house staff to do it, but for one, he didn't want to be the one taking anyone away from party preparations and two, what would be the fun in that? Not when he had Ariana who would act like a mom in every way besides ones like these, where she could actually be helpful, Nia, who was actually a good cook, and Alexandra, who he had somehow convinced into make him a grilled cheese one night after a night of pretty one-sided sex. Yeah, that night had definitely left him feeling a little cocky, even if he knew that he wasn't some super magical sex God, and she was just really desperate and in too deep with him. Chris knew the way he treated Alexandra was wrong, but she also didn't seem to have a problem with it. He felt like he had made it clear time and time again that she was just a fuck buddy to him, and she continued to answer his clearly drunk texts when he asked her to spend the night or drive him home so he could get some in the back seat of her car... so was it really his fault? Maybe not towards her, but towards Owen, yeah, he knew he was. And it was probably more wrong to test it right there and see if she would offer to make him a sandwich... but Chris found it hard to care about other people's feelings sometimes. Especially when it was something like this, where he was being playful and not taking things seriously.

Marisol was awake in her room, on her balcony as she was meditating to get ready for their guest arriving. Plus, to put up with Owen and Lex's arguing she would need have her body and mind completely at peace. Call her a hippy if you'd pleased but she wouldn't care. Ever since changing her outlook on life when she was nineteen she had hadn't any serious enemies and arguments with people. She was always able to cool down the situation before it escalated too far. She didn't even hear her phone as she took a deep breath in and out taking a big whiff of the outside air. She stretched her hands above her head before releasing them, letting them fall to her side. After about thirty-five minutes give or take into her meditation period. The young woman opened her eyes. She moved her sunglasses to her head so she could rub her eye to adjust to the sunlight. She got up and again stretched before making her way into her room to get ready for the day. She still had boxes in her room from her moving some things back from when she was in India for the past four months filming the last film in the 'Leona Rivera' series. Which killed her. She couldn't believe it was over and she balling when they filmed that last scene. Everyone was and she knew it would only be worst at the premiere in a couple of months when she would have to do a speech. But, that was months down the road so for the moment. Marisol brought her mind back to the present and the thought of getting ready.

The 'Amazon' had already showered and where he room was located she got just enough shade where she didn't have to worry about sweating from being outside. But, she did need to change her outfit. At the time being she was in a pair of compression shorts and a tank top and she couldn't go like that downstairs not with probably everyone down there. Sure, if it was just Owen and Lex, and maybe Yesi then that was a different story but in front of everyone else she was pretty much known to always being put together even while having on one of her many flowing dresses.

When she had on her black dress and a pair of black wedges to match. She fixed her hair into her peasant braid and didn't even worry about putting on any make up at the moment. It was a lot of wait and she honestly didn't feel like wasting another thirty minutes on makeup when she could be downstairs with her friends. Mari just now looked at her phone as she silently cursed at the time it was sent. She always was on of the worst at looking at her personal phone. Which is why most people used her 'professional phone' to get a hold of her quickly. She read it but didn't bother replying but she did reply to Yesenia's text about Owen planning the party. She chuckled as she sent the text.

      To : Yesi
Oh, I'm sorry for just getting home from India after filming a movie for the past four months. It kind of slipped my mind to not let him plan. lol. It'll be fine. He couldn't fuck it up that badly.

She closed her phone and held it in her hand as she started to head down the stairs of the very large house to head to the kitchen. Along the way she could hear voices belonging to their friends. She couldn't say for sure who was taking and when but she did know the voices didn't just belong to Alexa and Owen. She rushed into the kitchen to see everyone and smiled. "No one's gonna make you a damn sandwich, make it yourself, Christopher." She was already starting shit. She had to. She had been away from this crazy bunch for months. She had to make up for lost time. She smirked before leaning against the turned off oven. "I'm kidding... But, feel free to make me one too. Thanks, buddy."[/b] She winked with a chuckle before turning her attention to everyone else who she hadn't seen in a while other than her siblings. "So, long time no see people. What's goin' on? I thought I heard somethin' about little Leo going a date. Since when was this a thing?"
      The Hispanic teased before chuckling.

"Mhmm, I do listen when you talk, you know, Owen," Alexandra responded as her brother told her the same things that he had said every day for the past month. The party was starting at five. She needed to behave. No alcohol. No drugs. No leaving the property to go to another party that was more fun when his failed. She had heard and comprehended his words every time he had said it, but that didn't mean that she was going to follow through and listen to his instructions. Especially the no alcohol one. Did he honestly believe that she was going to spend Fourth of July sober? Like, really? She didn't even think Yesenia gave Leo problems about drinking, and with good reason. At eighteen, they were clearly old enough to make their own decisions and it wasn't like she didn't indulge legally when she went to Europe or Mexico or any other place where the legal drinking age wasn't twenty-one. Her brother was just a boring, stick in the mud, stickler for the rules, and she was over it. With CJ present, she just didn't have it in her to be in a bad mood though. Her voice was actually sort of sing-songy and even Owen's ugly face couldn't wipe the smile off of her face.

Surprisingly, the smile did falter slightly when Owen brought up Leo and a date. He hadn't told Alexandra that he was going on any date, or at least she didn't recall him doing so, and that seemed weird. He was her best friend. What kind of best friend didn't tell their best friend things like that? And aside from that, what stupid bitch was he out seeing? It made her jealous almost the instant that Owen said something about it. It wasn't jealous in a way where she was vying for his heart, per se, but she was territorial. She didn't necessarily want Leo in that way, since it wasn't something she had ever even considered, but she also didn't want another girl taking him. If he had a girlfriend, she would be pushed to his second best female friend and that was not something that she was going to allow to happen. Especially not this summer, when he was going to be the only person that was going to make things bearable for her. Before she could even consider whether she wanted to inquire further on the matter or text Leo herself, Yesenia was talking, and then Leo appeared, speaking for himself on the matter. It was beyond petty, but the fact that his sister got a hug and she didn't made her actually roll her eyes, as if she actually had a right to be offended over that. Really, she knew that she was just taking her currently very, very strong dislike for Yesenia, over the comment she made a moment before, out on Leo. That little comment about needing a thorough cleaning... the way that she had undeniably purposely looked at Chris while saying it, and the seductiveness of her voice while doing so made Lex feel her chest tighten. Of course, as soon as her eyes roved back over Christopher's form, she was smiling again, and she allowed herself to focus on that for just a moment. When he hopped down from the counter and requested a sandwich be made for him, Alexandra jumped at the opportunity. She passed by Mari, who came in trying to shut the idea down, without a hello, and met him at the fridge.

"I'll make you one!" she offered eagerly, eagerly to a point where if she was feeling like she needed to step up her game with that comment from Nia, she would have been embarrassed by it. Alexandra wasn't a great cook, but she knew how to make the basics. AKA cereal, salad and grilled cheese sandwiches. The only reason why she had insisted on cooking him a grilled cheese that night a few weeks back was because it was the only thing she knew how to cook, since cereal and salad was just throwing ingredients together. And even still, putting bread and cheese in a pan on the stove wasn't the most impressive thing in the world. "Do you want it the same way I made for you the other night?" she questioned, much quieter than, but purposely being said as they passed the island that Yesenia sat at. Obviously, Marisol's request for someone to make her one to went ignored and as Lex laid the ingredients out next to the oven, she hoped the girl got the message to move. Lex never even cooked for herself, so it said something that she was cooking for CJ, and Marisol definitely was not as high up as Chris was on her list of favorite people.

She had reestablished her relationship with Colette, made a clear claim for Owen, and had analyzed Yesenia enough to know that she still wasn't much of a threat. Ariana was done in the kitchen and with less than two hours until the party, knew that she needed to start getting ready. Getting dressed wouldn't take that long but she was sure Owen would want her to be ready by four or four-thirty to make sure that everything was in order and welcome those overly-eager guests that showed up a few minutes early. With Alexandra here now too, luckily in more of a perky mood than a sassy one, Ari figured it was time to get going anyway. Keeping the pair from fighting would be impossible, but if Lex was in a good mood and Leo was here to keep her grounded, removing Owen from the mix would only increase the likelihood that maybe they could get through the night without Ariana having to listen to her boyfriend rant about his sister. Plus, if they stood in the kitchen any longer, she was sure some conversation would arise where Owen would have to converse with her sister directly, and Ariana didn't want to give Colette the pleasure of thinking that Owen even cared about her in a friend-way yet. "Why don't we head up and get ready? If we go now, I'm sure we'll have a little bit of extra time to... relax," she smiled, taking his hand and toying with his fingers for a moment as she gave him her best flirtatious smile.

Owen was the human version of the heart eyes emoji when Ariana was flirting with him, or kissing him, or touching him, or just by his side in general. It went back to the whole thing about him never thinking he had a chance with her, and finally winning the girl that every guy in high school wanted. Even a year into their relationship, he still felt immensely lucky when he looked at her, and god, was that even more true when he looked at her when she was hinting at sex. Compared to Chris, Owen was no sex fiend, but what guy wouldn't want a girl like Ariana Rockefeller in bed with him? It was just a no brainer and he immediately stood up with a swift nod. "Sounds like a plan," he agreed with a smirk as he intertwined his fingers with hers. He had been so enthralled in admiring Ari that he had gone deaf to a lot of the conversation going on between the rest of the kitchen occupants. Marisol and Leo had made their entrances within that time, and both had received a genuine smile from him, but with Ari's offer on the table, hellos and sincere conversations would have to wait until later. He didn't even notice the way that Alexa was looking at Chris or consider how unusual it was for his sister, who refused to things for herself, let alone help other people, was offering to cook him lunch. Since he barely noticed, he didn't consider the sentiments behind the action, and in turn, didn't become enraged and inclined to punch Chris in the face for disrespecting his sister. Ignorance was bliss, and in the case of what was secretly going on between Chris and his sister, that was more than true.

"Ariana and I are going to go get ready," he announced when they were making their way out. Then, he looked towards Marisol and clearly in a hurry, said, "If any of the staff have questions about party stuff, just made up an answer, you don't need to come find me. Oh, and make sure she doesn't burn down the house," before giving Ariana's hand a gentle squeeze and following her up to his bedroom.

With her brother present, Yesenia definitely was not looking back in the direction of Ariana and Owen. As much as she loved her best friend, he was being Victoria Beckham's posh twin's little bitch for not really saying much other than few interjections, and she mentally filed it away as something to bring up when she snatched him away from Ariana later. Right now, she had another interest. First thing's first: Yesenia's countenance brightened at the arrival of Marisol, the only other female in the room second to Colette that she was actually pleased to be around. Especially with the way Alexandra hopped to basically suck Chris off. And so blatantly in front of her brother? Guess she can't help that her thirst game is strong, Yesenia thought as she exclaimed, "Hey, my Latina Amazon! So gracious of you to visit us peasants." It was a cheeky greeting and she knew it, and Colette smirked lightly taking a few more bites of her salad. A beat later, however, and Yesenia was digging into Leo. "So, who is she?" An immediate flush rushed to her brother's cheeks, making her grin even more-so teasing despite the fact that her phone vibrated on the flat surface her food currently sat upon.

Before Emilio could see it, Yesenia scooped it up with an expectant stare at her brother. "Out with it, Slim. I will stalk your Instagram feed," Colette threatened, mindfully trying not to stare back in her sister's direction when Owen and her announced that they were leaving. Nope, her gaze was fixedly solely on Emilio. Didn't even feel an inkling of her chest tightening at the way Owen grasped Ariana's hand. Absolutely not, no ma'am. "Guys...it's not...it wasn't that deep. It was just a date." Yesenia and Colette both narrowed their eyes at the same time - and no, Yesenia's didn't narrow because she caught the whisper that Alexa tossed Chris' way as if she wasn't even there - and smirked conspiratorially at each other. "He's still blushing." Yesenia piped in, "Totally." And Emilio groaned dramatically while lamenting, "I can't win with either of you."

"Nope." "Nope." They answered at the same damn time, causing Emilio to throw his hands up in the air and turn to Alexa, even going so far as to round the kitchen island so that he was standing closer to the youngest of the Collins clan, who had only reacted minimally to the announcement of his aforementioned afternoon plans. It wasn't like he had expected some grand reaction, but still. Couldn't he have anticipated...a bit something more. And not her making swoon-y - because that was totally a word - eyes at Christopher. "Lex, you seen Rob yet? Thought he'd be here by now." It took him only a second before he was pulling his own phone to see about the youngest Rockefeller.

To: Rob
Dude, where r u?

With her brother not over her shoulder, Yesenia peered down at her phone to see Chris' text, fighting back every impulse to gawk because...really? Did he not know who she was? It was enough to have her sending him an almost scathing look before taking two bites of her salad, purposefully making him wait for a response. Yesenia didn't like feeling out of control, off her game. Nope, that didn't work for her. After she was done chewing was when Yesenia finally typed out her response, and she finished the rest of her salad in a jiffy.

To: Chris
Got u all desperate already, bae? Cute ;D Btw, don't kno how u run thingz w/ jailbait, but i ain't as easy. U want this? Work 4 it?

"Well, I'm heading up too. This dress is sticking to me and some people have work," she did not hesitate to stare blatantly in Chris' direction, levelling Alexa with a gaze for a hot second before turning away, "to do. You two hit me up when you want to start getting ready." She directed the last part of her sentence to Marisol and Colette, with the latter giving her a raised brow that Yesenia shook her head to in answer. They could talk about it later. At the moment, she was throwing her container away and taking her phone and drink upstairs. For a shower. Very much alone. Colette's inquisitve stare only turned to Chris for a second before her gaze flitted over to Marisol. "So, tell me about the shoot. Wasn't it your last day filming for Leona or something?" Colette asked, actually interested and not ready just yet to go upstairs. She didn't want to accidentally run into the white Annelise Keating and her Calvin Klein drone.

It wasn't even his ego talking when he genuinely wasn't surprised by Alexandra eagerly offering to make him a sandwich, even after Marisol had playfully shot down the idea. He was caught off guard for a second when he spun around to address Marisol, only to find Alexandra right there, reaching past him to retrieve contents from the fridge. With Owen right there, despite being distracted by Ariana, Chris made sure not to stare. Lex was definitely hot but as Yesenia had put it, she was just a kid. No amount of makeup or lip injections or times seeing her naked would change that. And Chris was what Mari would so kindly call a slut, but when he was sober, he was able to realize things like that better. It was even just evident in the way she would interact with Owen, or how immature she was about somethings. What was probably rebellious seeming in her eighteen-year-old mind just reminded him that she was a kid, and the only thing that would probably ever change that view in his mind, was enough tequila. Unless he was completely plastered, he would always see her as Owen's little sister and while he could live with that since all he wanted from her was sex, it reminded him that he didn't need to invest there. He didn't need to invest his time or energy into a girl that he would never have a future with. It was wrong, but it made it all the more easier for him to not feel bad about letting her make him a sandwich. He waited until his sister and Owen left the room, trying not to think about the only reason why Owen wold have that look on his face with his sister's hand wrapped around his, before responding to Lex. "I don't care how you make it, but extra cheese would be cool." It probably wasn't the response she was looking for, since he sensed too, that her reference to one of their nights together was probably supposed to get a rise out of someone, but he wasn't playing into that. If anyone got to play with Nia's head today, it was going to be him... and he would continue to reject the possibility that maybe she would be able to do the same to him.

He was waiting for her to answer his text after he smirked at the look she gave him, that had to be in relation to the message, but it didn't come automatically. He busied himself with responding to some other friends' texts about that night's party, but he definitely was waiting for that message, and when it came, he was haughty enough to chuckle aloud before sending his own back.

To: Yesenia
I guess we're gonna play the waiting game then ;). By the end of this night, one of us is gonna be begging, and I can promise you it's not gonna be me

He had missed most of the conversation between his sister and the Slim siblings, but decided that it wasn't too late to add his own thoughts on the matter in, and no, it wasn't because he needed to distract himself from the comment that Nia left them with. "Just remember the motto, man: hit it and quit it." His sister was talking to Marisol, but he didn't hesitate to add in, "Be like Colette. Live and die by the motto. Better to be single than to be weighed down by someone else, right, sis?" When he realized what the girls had been talking about, he decided to add his two cents in there too, because when was his opinion not wanted? Plus, Lex was moving at a snail's pace with that sandwich."Yeah, how was India? Find yourself a nice Indian dude? I knew white guys weren't your thing when you got over me so easily."

For a party that he planned on his own, Owen thought things were going pretty well. It was only 5:30, thirty minutes into the event, so he knew it was optimistic to be calling it a complete success at this part, but he was in one of those good moods where he was close to doing so. Spending a while in bed with Ariana would put any guy into a good mood, and once he had finally gotten out from underneath the sheets with her, he showered, got dressed, and made sure all of the party preparations were in order. Now that the party was thirty minutes in and a lot of people were already here, the chefs were opening up the grilling stations and beginning to whip up steaks, chicken, hot dogs and burgers. There were tables lined with other dishes, some as simple and American as french fries and macaroni and cheese, and others like grilled lobster tails and gourmet salads that possessed more of the Beverly Hills flair. The food was only just beginning to roll out and his mouth was definitely watering, but Owen decided to wait a few minutes before making a plate for himself. He wasn't some grand host who was spending hours making sure that he spoke to every guest, because he honestly didn't know a fair amount of the people there. If anything, it felt like he was hosting the party with the Rockefellers, Slims, and Lex and Marisol. They had all invited friends of their own, and for the summer, the house was just as much theirs as it was his. Despite not knowing everyone, he did do his best to mingle with people outside of Ariana. Her friends from high school were all there and she had went off with them, soon after people started arriving, leaving him to socialize with his friends.

Owen had had a lot of friends growing up, but he was never what Christopher was. He was never the person throwing crazy house parties, clowning around in school, or being okay with getting into trouble. He wasn't as boring as some of his friends still liked to tease him for being, but he just wasn't into the craziness. A good party now and then was great, and it wasn't like he had went a minute since the party started today without a cold beer in his hand, but he didn't need to blackout to have a good time. That had always been the main thing that got between he and Chris, and the thing that differentiated the people they hung out with. They had a fair amount of mutual friends, but now that they were out of high school where popularity mattered the most, Owen didn't feel weird about being friends with some of the kids that were too focused on sports or academics in high school to fit into the partying, popularity scene. Though not making a plate for himself, he walked with an old friend, Ty who was talking about how he had recently graduated from Stanford and had been picked up by Google as an employee in the spring. Owen told him about Leo and how he was planning on going to that school in the fall, and made small talk before Ty left to eat the mountains of food he had piled onto his place.

To: Christopher, Yesenia, Marisol
U guys eating yet? Come make a plate if not. At least u can't say I didn't do good in the food department.

To: Ariana
Don't wanna intrude on your girl time lol but do you want to eat? I'm by the food.

After sending out texts to three of his friends and Ariana, he came so close to sending a message to Colette too, but he couldn't bring himself to do it. He wanted to say something and he knew he could have easily included her in the message to the first three, but he knew that she wasn't a big meat eater, so it wouldn't have made sense. And yeah, he was at a point with her where he was overthinking that much, to care about the specifics. So, he did nothing, just like he had done for the past year, and waiting by the food tables to see if anyone was going to eat with him.

Chris made a point to socialize with twice as many girls as he normally would have within the first thirty minutes of the party, just because Yesenia had made it clear that she wasn't going to be an easy catch. He was cool with that. He liked a challenge, but Chris still was in the mindset where he wanted her to play by his rules. He could wait it out, but only if in the end, it meant that she was the one crawling over to him... and into his bed. Not the other way around. He would show her that she wanted him more than he wanted her, and that it had been that way all along. He would admit that he wanted her, and that after he had caught a glimpse of her in that red romper earlier, he wanted her a lot but he needed her to want him more. He didn't know why, why he needed that validation that he wasn't going to have to chase her, or even that it would be a mutual amount of lust. He had an ego, but he didn't think it was that big. He considered that maybe it was because Nia was one of the strongest girls he knew. She was headstrong and when she knew what she wanted from people, it was incredibly easy for her to get it out of them. He was like that too, and he wanted to see her lose that control before he did. He was the king of this lifestyle, and her text saying "game on" only made him want to prove that. Yesenia was unlike any other girl he had ever wanted, but this was Chris, and he still didn't think he was going to need to give up his reputation and control for anyone.

Chris was busy talking to some girls from the Wilhemina modeling agency when he got Owen's text, but he didn't open it right away. After a couple of minutes passed, he broke away from the girls but only because he had heard talk about the food being put out. He'd be back to woo their pants off later in the night, once his stomach was full and after he had a few drinks in him. Which reminded him that he needed to stop at the bar before heading over to the food area. Leo and Alexandra were there, but he offered them just a friendly nod before his drink was ready and he took it towards the food area. Before the tables were even in sight, his mouth was watering. Chris arguably had addictions to a couple of things, but food was definitely at the top of that list. He could eat ten meals a day and still be hungry, and the food that was on the menu tonight made him wish he could eat ten meals of it. He looked at Owen's text as he walked, but didn't respond to it. Instead, he took the opportunity to snap a quick picture of Colette and a fellow model, Devran Taskesen, who Chris didn't know personally, and send it in a group text to Colette and Ariana. Along with the picture, he wrote, "Ari, did she ask you to be the maid of honor bc I haven't gotten my groomsman invitation yet..."

He didn't see Owen and Yesenia right away, but as he worked his way through the food stations, he realized it was because he had started at the other end as them. He met them halfway through, with a plate that was already overflowing with various grilled foods. "Come on, Nia. You're gonna need to add a little bit more to that plate if you want the energy to keep up with me. Game on, remember?" he grinned.
