The church was filled with every elf in the village to celebrate the day of the goddess Tarellethiel. Aranel was happy, since this was the first time she was celebrating this day as a priestess. Everyone kneeled down on the floor in prayer, when the doors flew open to reveal a horde of trolls. They came in, shoving people out of the way and kicking them. They took anything of value and stuffed it inside of bags. Aranel was paralized. She felt someone tugging her shoulder and looked. It was the high priestess. "Aranel , go out of the backway, we'll take care of this." Aranel ran out of church, into the forest, and kept going. She finally fell out, exausted, and slept the rest of the day. When she woke up, she walked back to the church with no difficulties since she knew these woods by heart. When she got inside, everyone was dead, and the shrine was destroyed. "I should have stayed," she said, sobbing, "I should have fought too." She curled up on the floor and cried for hours. When she was done, Aranel backed what was left of her things, and set out to Jotunheim to avenge her village.
Aurelier was late to the celebration of the goddess. She had been distracted as she flitted about the garden tending to her roses. She ran to the church, careful not to tear her dress. She kept running over the twigs, careful not to break them. When she finally reached the beautiful church, she lingered outside the door. She hoped no one would notice her when she pushed open the door. On the floor layed the bodies of her friends and the closest thing she had to family. A troll ran out a back door with a sack full of gold. Aurelier let out one of the loudest screams in all the land. She went back to her house and gathered all of her things and began running to a nearby town, looking for help. She wasn't sure if any elves were left in existence. She prayed to multiple goddess that she was not the only one.
