Casey Moore's Story

Taya woke up to the sound of her alarm clock. She sat up and stretched. She yawned as she looked at her clock that read 5:00 am. She glanced at her calendar. "Today's the day huh?" She said sighing happily.
She hoped up out of bed, her dad was still asleep as well as her 5 year old little brother.
She always got up earlier than anyone else. She went into the kitchen wearing her white long sleeve t shirt as well as her pink and white polk a dot pajama pants with pink slippers. She fixed her hair and make up. She went into her little brothers room and woke him up. "Aiden wake up" She shook him slightly. He rubbed his eyes and sat up. Aiden adored his sister usually. She was like a mother to him and Taya adored him too.
She then dressed Aiden and got him ready to go to preschool. She finished making breakfast and her dad came out still half awake. "Morning dad," She smiled as she brought over food to the table. "Morning sweetie." He rubbed his eyes and sat down as well as Aiden sat down. She made eggs, bacon, and waffles. as well as some fruit. She poured Aiden a glass of orange juice and she got her and her dad some coffee. After she was finished she brushed her teeth she grabbed her bag from her room and as she did she noticed the picture on her desk of her mother, her and her dad. It had been almost 5 years when her mother died. Her mother was ill when she was pregnant. birthing Aiden was hard on her but she still pushed through until 3 months after he was born she died. Taya was the mother of the family practically. She did everything but rarely complained. "Wish me luck mom!" She laughed and ran into the kitchen. She said goodbye to her family and hurried off at the bus stop. She was anxious since this was going to be her new school but she was also excited. She got on the bus when it arrived and took a seat by a window.

Taya had head phones in and her eyes closed. She was nervous but everyone seemed nice. She looked out the window to see a guy running. 'whoa!' She thought as she took off her head phones. "Um, shouldn't the bus driver stop?" She exclaimed to the students riding in front of her. "naw, that's just Casey. it'd be better if he didn't make it. he's just a waist of a seat." They said plainly. Taya felt heart broken and didn't understand. She smiled when he was finally able to get on. Taya watched him sit down and everyone throw stuff at him. 'I wonder what he's drawing?' She thought. She put her head phones in and wondered what to do. She sat quietly watching him and wondering about why everyone thought badly of him. They finally arrived at the school where everyone rushed off. She sighed sinking in her seat and then stood up. She walked out of the bus and looked around confused of where to go.

Taya watched him being pushed around and felt bad. She saw him walking away to and isolated place so he decided to follow him. She watched him as he drew pictures. She decided to go up to him. "Wow, your drawing is amazing.." She stated as she came up from behind the tree. "Aw, sorry I'm new here, My name's Taya...I saw you on the bus..are you ok?" She asked with a genuine concern on her face.

Tayas expression was slightly scarred and she backed up when he threw the clip board.
Although frightened she bent down and tucked some hair behind her ear. "I don't have any friends...But,..you worked hard on it..." She said quietly. She picked it up and looked at it carefully. She wiped the mud away with her sleeve getting her sleeve dirty. "It's good, you should keep it.." She walked forward a little timidly and placed it in front of him then turned around and quickly ran away to school. She felt embarrassed and sad for me. She thought he was misunderstood and if only others could get to know him maybe they wouldn't treat him badly.

Taya was wondering around in the hallway. She found her locker and was putting her books in it. She got out her stuff for writing class and hurried to class. along the way she saw Casey. He was all banged up and looked like he could faint. "Oh my, are you ok?" She ran up to him. "You should go to the nurses office.." She said looking him over and seeing all the bruises.

Taya frowned. "there's no way you can sit through a class like that." She walked closer to him and held out her hand, "Let me help you?" Her voice echoed with a motherly and gentle ring.

"Yea, let me help you, ya know, help, take you to the nurses office, help make you feel better?" She chuckled softly and smiled warmly.

"Weird or not, I wanna help you!" She ran in front of him and stretched out her arms. "Now, just let me help!" She called out angrily.

"Ouch!" Taya said as she rubbed her arm. But, she still wouldn't give up. "Just except my help! hurting me won't do you any good!" She called out and again stood in his way.

Taya coughed and rubbed her neck. "I don't believe any of that,.." She said while coughing. She ran up beside him and put her arm around his back while taking his arm and throwing I t over her shoulder so she was helping him walk. "Just shut up ok? Don't try to act all tough when it's clear you're about to faint" She frowned and tried to help him walk.

Taya backed up and frowned. She was about to say something when the teacher from her classroom came out. "Is there a problem here?" He asked in a stern voice. "Ah, Is Casey bothering you miss?" He asked and stared daggers at Casey. Taya ran and stood in front of Casey blocking the teachers view of him. "A-Actually, I started it..." She said in a quiet voice. He looked and
Casey then at Taya. "Starting trouble on your first day Miss Swan?.....Come with me to the principles office." He stated and
began walking down the hallway. Taya sighed and followed him as they reached the principles office the teacher went back to class. The principle gave Taya a warning but had a long talk with her.

The school bell rang for lunch to which Taya got her tray of food and looked around for an empty spot. There was 1 table left empty. It looked kind of dirty but she sat at it anyway. As she sat down the whole lunch room looked at her in surprise but then went back to eating. She sat down cautiously and began eating.

Taya stood up and slammed her hands down on the table. "Hey! Shut up! You guys don't even know him!". The whole room went silent. "What a bitch.." Some girl commented. Some people continued to gossip quietly but most everyone sat silent and ate their food. Taya plopped back down and shoved a fork with food on it in her mouth. She was a little annoyed at their comments but didn't take it to heart. "Are you ok?" She asked looking at Casey.

"Stop it!" She poked his head. "Until you get your head on straight I'm not leaving." She stuffed more food in her mouth. "Call me persistent or obnoxious but I'm not leaving." She stated and huffed. 'I know I'm probably being annoying but I can't leave him alone, although I did sit here by accident' She chuckled to herself. "Just because you get bullied doesn't mean you have to be one." She stared at him, not adverting her gaze.

Taya stood up annoyed and dusted off her clothes. She sat back down on the bench even closer than before. She poured some water from her water bottle on her napkin. She moved his hair out of the way and placed the napkin gently on his head. "AGAIN. LET. ME. HELP. YOU!" She yelled and kept her hand on his head. "I know you're just trying to scare me away so I won't get bullied, but that's my own decision, not yours." She puffed.

Taya sighed. "Finally some sort of agreement....." Taya looked through her bag and then began to unwrap something. She put it on Casey's head, it was a band aid. "Geez." Taya sighed and pushed her tray of food towards him. "Let's share. I know you want to reject, or you'll just throw this tray across the other room, but how about instead you just shut up and eat it." She growled. Taya was normally motherly and kind but it was obvious that until he gets more open with her that wasn't how to help him.

Taya smiled sweetly, she tried not to laugh but a few cute chuckles escaped her lips. 'He looks just like a little boy!' She thought and chuckled even more. Taya checked her time on her phone, "I have to go to the principles office for some final paper work. Go ahead and finish my food. Thanks" She smiled and grabbed her bags and started walking off.

Taya walked down the hallways sighing breaths of relief for it was the end of the day. She hand her books held tight to her chest and her mind was on what to make for dinner. She saw a bunch of commotion down the hallway and ran towards it. She was in shock when she saw them hurting Casey so much. "Stop it!" She pushed her way through the guys. " She hovered over Casey and looked up at them, "Go away!" She yelled angrily but also with a hint of sadness.

Taya felt like crying. To think there were people as horrible as them who would do something to someone as innocent as him...it made her sad. "Casey,..come home with me today." She stated plainly looking him in the eyes. "Schools over...and we should treat your wounds...You don't have to stay long in case your family would worry.." She sighed sadly. "Let Me help you?." She touched his cheek lightly as not to hurt him, but to see his bruises more clearly.
