Backstory: Ruari lived with her parents until she was in kindergarden. Then they all- her parents, siblings, and herself- had to move in with the grandparents on her father's side. She was too young to understand everything that was going on, but she soon caught on after a couple years.
She figured out both of her parents were addicted to crystal meth. Her grandmother achieved custody of her and her two siblings. She remembered how her father used to be until one day, he flipped from being the desired, friendly father-figure into a violent, angry... monster. Her mother preferred to be around in hiding, so Ruari couldn't see her mom often. She knew that her mother loved to draw and would stay up all night to get that one picture done.
They were both caught, of course. They usually do get caught one way or another. Her father had to go to prison for so many years and her mother went to live with her own mother. Her mother's substance abuse caused her schizophrenia and bipolar genetics to shine through and get the better of her.
For a few years, her mom seemed just fine, taking her medication almost perfectly. Ruari would go visit her from time to time when she could.Her mom would slip sometimes. Ruari found that when her mother slipped on her medication, she can be frightening. Ruari never noticed how much her mom had deteriorated until that one day, a few days before her seventeenth birthday, her mother blacked out and got into a head-on collision. Sudden death, and Ruari was without the mother she loved.
All of the disaster that occured in her life caused Ruari to decide she wanted to be a rehab doctor. Ruari studied hard to get ahead and achieve her goal quickly, becoming the doctor she desired to be at the age of 23. She has hopes of possibly saving people's lives if they choose to get the help.
