Rai smiled, apparently he was doing something right. "I am all yours, Aurica. I would love to spend as much time with you as I can." He said softly. "Shall we walk? I bet the flowers accent your complexion beautufylly."
Aurica smiled as she replied, "I would like nothing more right now." She took Rai's hand and walked with him through the garden, leading him to a small patch of petunias. She explained to him, "My mother planted these herself, they were her favorite flowers. When I was very young she used to take me out here and we'd tend to them together..." This recollection seemed to be bittersweet.
He walked with her, listening. Her hand felt so delicate. "Well your mother seemed to have great taste in flowers." He said. "Tell me, what is your favorite flower, Aurica?"
Aurica took no time to think of her answer when she replied, "I love roses, they're not only pretty but they teach you how to treat people. Handle them gently and they'll do great things for you, but handle them carelessly and you'll hurt yourself." She led him over to some roses in the garden as she mentioned this.
The sun began to shine over head making the small girl shine. He took a step back to admire her before she lead him to the roses. "They are beautiful, but they just can't compare to you." He said before bending down and smelling of of them. He looked peaceful the whole time.
Aurica smiled at his praise but also blushed a little as she told him,"You're very sweet Rai, but I don't think I'm incomparable to these roses, I planted them with my mother when I was three years old. I still remember that day, it was the last time we gardened together." She added with a giggle, "Thank you for the compliment though, I find you ever so handsome as well."
He nodded as a thank you. "Your mother taught you well I see. My flower would be a gardenia. The smell just hypnotizes me, like you." He smiled and glanced at her. For once he smiled, "I am sorry. I may be overdoing it on the compliments, but you are well worth it and deserving of it."
Aurica shook her head and reassured him with a smile, "You're not overdoing it at all. Actually it's rather uplifting to know somebody in this world thinks of me so highly, besides the maids no one else around here seems to think so. I see not even a slight error in your interactions with me so far." She thought for a moment, as if almost forgetting what she wanted to say before asking, "Rai? What is your favourite colour? Mine is actually aquamarine."
He thought about it for a moment, "I would have to say, my dear, would be lavender. It is a calming color and the flower itself is very calming in teas and baths. What calms you down, my dear ray of sunshine?" He asked, taking her hand, and walking around the garden some more.
Aurica thought about this before replying, "Well, I sometimes do breathing and stretching exercises in my room to relax, or I also love a nice hot bath to soothe my body and soul in one refreshing package. I also might take a nap if I'm tired enough." She giggled before backtracking, "I mean I might take a nap after or instead of a bath, not in the bath." She smiled at Rai and told him, "As of lately, I'd say you're very soothing to be around also. You don't yell, you don't curse at me, you don't threaten me. Instead you speak softly, praise me, and protect me. Thank you very much for that."
They talked for a while and made a loop back to the front of the garden when a maid came to meet them saying her father requested her in the throne room. "Ahh I see it is my time to go, glad I could be of service to you, use me any time, my dear." He smiled and kissed her the back of her hand before escorting himself out.
Aurica met with her father, who wasn't too harsh today since he still believed that the date with Griffin went according to plan. She went to bed with a smile on her face for the first time in a long time, thinking about all that had happened in the last three days.
The courtyard was absolutely amazing to Lyle. He looked up towards the roofs of the surrounding buildings and to the well decorated lawn and perfectly painted walls. It was easily the nicest place that Lyle had ever been. He smiled as he thought how it was purely by accident he was here. Fate was very funny sometimes. He wasn't sure how long he'd been rubbernecking around the room before he had noticed the table and indeed the princess. His face flushed red with embarassment as he waved over at her.
"Excuse me princess, I'm so sorry, its just, this courtyard took my breath away.."
He seems almost paralyzed realizing that not only is she here, but that he had also probably been seemingly ignoring her for who knows how long. He started to walk towards he table and the princess.
Aurica smiled at Lyle and shook her head as she replied with a giggle, "It's no big deal, I'm glad you like it." She motioned to the seat next to her and told him, "Also, you may just call me Aurica, no need to refer to me by title okay? Title shouldn't be a factor in a lovely occasion like this."
"Well, uh, my names Lyle!" he exclaimed, probably just a bit too loud. "My title is 'Begone!', I think. At least that's what they call me in towns. On the roads no one calls me anything." A smile beamed across his face and he extended his hand out towards her. Everything about the gesture seems more like he is shaking the hand of a blacksmith rather than a Princess, but it doesn't seem to be out of disrespect, just sheer innocent ignorance of culture.
Aurica smiled at what she perceived as a gentlemanly gesture and shook Lyle's hand as she declared, "It's a pleasure to meet you Lyle." She released him and tilted her head to the side ever so slightly as she reassured him, "So long as you treat me with respect you'll always be welcome here. Not even the respect a princess deserves, just what a normal human being deserves, okay?"

"What is it like being royalty? I've never even been in a castle, I can't imagine living in one." He began to get wound up with his questions again. "Is it true that the guards have to do whatever you say? If you tell them to do a handstand they have to do it right?"
He quickly realized that he was once again probably being a bit grating. It was very hard for him to help himself. He looked back at Aurica for an answer.
Aurica considered her answer before replying, "Well, I'm sure anyone else would love to live my life, but I hate being royalty. Everyone seems almost scared of retaliation by going anywhere near me, I can never go out anywhere without a caravan in tow, I even have escorts to my lavatory for a bath. The guards are nice enough but I don't like ordering people around, I should have no right to even if I'm the Princess. They do technically have to obey whatever I say but I would never demand anything of them, I always ask and give them the option to say no." She sighed as she admitted, "I know it sounds like I'm ungrateful, I am grateful for what I have. It's just... I never asked to be a Princess."
It had been 3 weeks and several fights against bandits since he began his travels to the Kingdom, all for a chance to marry the princess. The knight by the name of Alistair Scott finally arrived at the glorious Castle Mayflower, battered and tired from the journey to the castle. Upon arriving at the front gates he simply rode his horse past the guards, not fearing them in the slightest knowing they were more likely afraid of him and his intimidating appearance. Unlike the rest of the suitors who have arrived to woo The Princess, Alistair did not put on and fancy clothes... In fact he was still wearing his armor which had a light layer of dust and partial blood splatter from the Bandits.
Alistair hopped off his Clydesdale Horse, tied it to a random pole in the courtyard and proceeded to head to the main chambers. He approached one of the younger guards on duty, and asked him in a blunt but kind tone of voice a single question.
"When might The Princess be available? I'm here to become her husband."
He spoke with confidence, believing that the other suitors stood no chance in winning The Princess's Heart. Although he did speak with confidence he looked exausted, caused by his lack of sleep while traveling 3 weeks with constant threats around him.
Alistair looked agitated, he didn't travel such a long distance to be told by a measly guard that he had to wait. He made himself look more intimidating by slightly puffing out his chest and taking a bolder stance, he then spoke with a more stern voice to make sure his point got across to the guard.
"I don't think you understand, I'm here to marry the princess... not to wait on some hopeless suitors who think that they compare in any aspect to me."
Alistair wasn't about to move because a guard told him to, although many people sing praises of him being kind and thoughtful they all know that he is nore stubborn than a sunburnt mule. He made sure that the guard knew his place compared to a Knight of the People.
