[Full Name]
Ritsuka Barratt (She's called "Barratto" because when she came to Japan, that's how her name was pronounced. Also she doesn't like her family so it's like her own last name.)
[Nicknames]
Ritsu by her non-existent friends and "that one" by anyone else. She has been called "... that one" so many times now she happily has adopted it as a nickname. The name "Spider" has been circulating around as well, because people have compared her to a spider in the way they both hang in the corner and scare you. She's not fond of the people who refer to her with that name.

17
Sexuality
Heterosexual (she'll answer this but she hasn't put any thought or experience into the answer)
[Species]
Class C Vampire

[Appearance]
Ritsuka possesses the same ethereal beauty as any other vampire, though perhaps she may look even more ethereal due to the colouring of her skin. It's pale, incredibly white-pale, to the point that if she steps into the sun she'll blind the person across from her. Her colourless skin is contrasted by her dark brown hair which she likes to wear in two short plaits. Her long fringe hide her ice blue eyes, which look to be in a state of permanent boredom. She has two beauty marks, one beneath her left eye and the other at the right corner of her mouth. She loves them dearly, happy to have something that breaks the otherwise "bland" symmetry of her face which vampires are "cursed" with. She named them as a child and secretly keeps those names to this day (Dip is the mole by her lip, Dot is the one by her eye).
Ritsuka is fond of wearing makeup, thinking that she needs some colour to her otherwise blank white canvas of a face, complete with a lack of expressions. She won't deny her appearance and wishes that people would look upon it more. Because she considers herself a "poor entertainer" (as in her face doesn't really do anything interesting in the expression department), she relies on makeup to work for her.
She's 5'7'' and has never bothered to weigh herself, knowing it to be pointless. She wears gothic lolita clothing when not in her uniform - all outfits made by herself. She designs them and stitches them up from scratch and would be happy to tell people but nobody asks.
[Likes]
o Cliche vampire romance novels/trashy young adult novels in general - Ritsuka's guilty pleasure, except she's not guilty about it. People assume that a diligent young lady like her is reading high-class literature at the back of the class, but...
o Winter - The cold doesn't bother her. She likes the way the window frosts up and how she can see her breath and pretend to have powers much cooler than the ones she has when she's bored. Mostly she likes the absence of the sun.
o Gothic lolita - She just really likes wearing it. They're the sort of dresses her parents make her wear, but more fun and as over the top as she wants because she's the one making them.
o Pressing flowers - She presses flowers in the books she reads and stashes them away in her diary. She knows what each flower "says" and puts only flowers in her diary instead of words to keep some sort of emotion log.
o Chocolate - she likes many other things, but this has to be in her top five. She wonders at how a food can feel so warm when it isn't technically warm at all. She wonders about a lot of strange things.
[Dislikes]
o Things taking too long - things such as fumbling with her bow or trying to create an account on some site. If either takes longer than the expected rate, she'll snap in a silent but frantic way. Such as tying the ribbon around her neck like a cowboy in a huff or slamming the laptop shut and storming out the dorm. She's a little short-fused.
o The sun - especially the sunburn that comes with it. She likes how the flowers come out in Spring, but she doesn't like how the sun accompanies them. While she may respect the sun for the gifts it gives her, she kinda holds a grudge and doesn't consider them even. She brings her parasol with her whenever she steps out into the sun.
o People staring - she'd rather you come and talk to her or just ignore her. Staring is unsettling.
o A couple of people she knows - I could specify which, but you know them, so I don't want you to go telling them.
o Dolls and stuffed animals - She knows this person who seems to be a bit obsessive over these childish trinkets. Now they really creep her out.
[Strengths]
o Independent - She doesn't really care about being alone. She thinks of herself as completely capable and doesn't think she needs anyone to lean on for anything.
o Plays the clarinet - Her parents made her learn an instrument because apparently music students are smarter.
o Intelligent - She entered Aurora Academy via scholarship and is one of the top students in the class. She would boast if she felt comfortable randomly coming out and boasting.
o Optimistic - Despite how sucky things are or how her current situation is, she always has something to be happy about. She isn't even aware that she is an optimistic person.
o Honest - She praises herself on her honesty, though most others see it as bluntness. If she's asked a question, she'll answer honestly. She won't give excuses or make up stories. She sees her honesty as a strength because she thinks that with it, she'll never be misunderstood.
[Weaknesses]
o Short-fuse - Though she seems to be the calm type, when things are taking too long... or when around the right person... she'll snap. She doesn't express her rage through LOUD NOISES and YELLING, but through actions. If she wants you to shut up you'll know. (Idiot: Hey there Spi - *smacked across jaw with book*)
o Lack of relationships - Her best friend is her cat Bitty and he's back home. The people she can talk to are teachers, but she hasn't got friends to confide in and even though she's not aware, it's really not good for her... as you can see...
o Oblivious - She reads romance novels and views them as fiction, not even once considering that stuff happens in real life. She's alienated romance from her as her "little bit of escapism". She doesn't even know how to react to it if it ever were to happen to her and probably wouldn't make the connection from her books to life.
o Trusting others - She can't let others do things for her and if someone ever asks her to do something for them she'll look at them like they're insane. She'll do it, but she now thinks that person is crazy.
o Intimidating - Something about her fringe and those icy glaring eyes and the white skin and the gothic getup... she looks kinda terrifying when deep in thought. Lets just say that she doesn't make the Day Class "Kyaaa~! Kyaaa~~!!" more rather "KYAAAA! O-Oh! I didn't see you there!" She likes the way she looks, but she doesn't realise it's not good for making friends. [/left]
[Personality]
"Oh, but I truly am a dull person. If you still insist to know me - ask anyone else. They all tell it better than I do."
Ritsuka is an independent person who does things solitarily. Always. She's incredibly confident with herself and thinks that she doesn't need anyone else to make herself better than what she is, so it's fine if they don't come near her. She's an overachiever in all of her subjects and strives hard to be, getting excited over the slight bit of process she ever makes, though her blank face doesn't show it. Because of her strive to keep focused at all times, she ignores those around her unless they are directly speaking to her, though lately her focus has been breaking. When she does observe a person, because of her impatience she finds it too much to try and spend the time figuring someone out and therefore is quick to make judgements on her peers, condensing down their character to a couple of words for convenience. The first impression is the only impression with her - and it usually stays that way because that's as long as people talk to her. She likes things to remains methodical and has a routine. If there is a disturbance in that routine, she'll be frustrated for a time then quickly adapt to it.
She's a very honest person who is often misunderstood despite being overly honest to prevent that from happening. She doesn't speak until she feels it's absolutely necessary (like, responding to someone) and you have to try and read her through gestures most of the time. For example in relationships, you won't know what she thinks of you unless you ask her straight because otherwise she won't tell you. She doesn't know how relationships really work because the ones she reads about are so fast-paced and even caricature-like to her. She expresses affection through gestures rather than words and when it is at last confirmed that yes, she does enjoy your company - then she will slowly begin to communicate more. She might even be the first to speak one day...? You'll probably feel the need to check up what she thinks of you regularly, though. She's just both oblivious and self-centred, so she never really pays attention. Or thinks about how uncomfortable the other person is.
So she seems like this loner weirdo girl that sits in the corner looking depressed, which is wrong - well, the last one. Despite looking bored constantly, she's believes herself to be happy. She's optimistic, enthusiastic and quite bright on the inside. She does smile when people do not ask for it, though she doesn't notice it. Her smile is a rare and special occasion and though she claims that she needs makeup to draw attention to her face, if she saw herself smiling then she'd admit she is wrong. (Aw.)

[History]
Her father is English and her mother is Japanese. She spent her childhood in England under her parents' harsh rule - and I say rule because rules were everything. Her parents' goal was to climb up as high as they could in vampire society and the most convenient way to do so was through their own daughter. Studying and routine was her life and when it came to play, she was forced to play with the "friends" that were hand-picked by her parents. One Aristocratic vampire especially, Marilene Banister, was decided to be "best friends" with little Ritsuka by her parents. Ritsuka couldn't stand going to Marilene's palace and sitting on her knees as she combed Marilene's hair and listened to her talk about nothing but petty lies and opinions passed down to her by the same hands that fed her. She especially couldn't stand being 16 years old and being commanded by her parents to go over to Marilene's house "to play" once she had finished her study and clarinet practise. Marilene acted exactly the same as before when they were children, though less ignorant and more aware of how awkward their situation was... and how much she could exploit the girl unable to do anything else than what was commanded of her.
Her parents sent her off to board at Aurora Academy after she achieved the scholarship they pushed her to get. They instructed her to become acquainted to the Aristocrats through her connections with the apparently well-known Banister family, with the intent to marry Ritsuka into one of the Aristocratic families, but when Ritsuka touched down in Japan she realised something. She didn't know how to make friends. ... That's what happens when you're put into a room with someone and told "now you're friends!" all throughout your childhood. The first year, despite not making any friends, she she grew into the person she could call herself. She could grow without being pushed into a mould and she had a sense of freedom she had never experienced through childhood. Some habits remained the same such as her routine, but the amount of character building she did by herself in the space of a year was incredible. Every time she was sent back home, she had changed even more, until her parents could no longer deny the confident glint hidden in her eyes. They couldn't completely control her anymore and neither could Marilene.
Unfortunately, that doesn't stop the permanent damage that was done. She remains friendless but doesn't mind which is a serious problem that needs to be solved. Her past isn't destructive like other characters, but there's a certain... creepyness about it.
[Other]
Her vampire power is camouflage. She can blend in with her surroundings if she stays still enough, which is why "KYAA! OH I didn't see you there haha" happens a lot. Her disappearing habits can also lead to her phasing through solid objects which is the more useful side of her power.
