Description
Character Name: Zhou Lin (čæ)
Age: 15
Gender: Female
Nation/Element: Earth (not a bender)
Side: Neutral
Personality: Zhou was raised to be a guard for the royal family, but her timid, passive nature made her a less-than-ideal soldier. While she's usually too nervous in social settings to speak more than a few stuttered phrases, she has a huge heart. She lives to help others, but oftentimes she doesn't realize that she's simply letting people walk all over her. However unobservant she may be at times, she still takes things very personally and can't cover up her emotions, and she probably wouldn't if she could. Zhou sleeps better at night when she knows she's been honest about her thoughts - as long as they don't hurt someone else's feelings. Sometimes, she can be a burden to the group because she is absent-minded and easily frightened, but she is also willing to do whatever it takes to help another person. In short, Zhou Lin is a loyal follower who aims to avoid confrontation and support those she loves...like Roshan.
Brief Biography: Zhou was born to two guards of the Earth Nation's royal family, and from birth she was expected to be a soldier herself. Even as a toddler, though, she tried to avoid fights and feared people in general. Determined to turn her into a fighter, her parents forced her into training, where she was physically and verbally pummeled for most of her childhood. Not only did the experience fuel her hatred of fighting, but it also destroyed her self-confidence. Finally, when Zhou was ten, her parents gave up on her, and she became a direct servant for Roshan.
Over the next five years, Zhou slowly but surely fell in love with Roshan. She didn't mind doting on him, even though he ran her ragged with errands for him and wouldn't even give her the time of day. Simply by making her fetch his meal or clean his shoes, he made her feel needed by someone. As they grew older, however, Zhou tried to do away with her childish infatuation. Roshan didn't really appreciate the things she did; after all, she was only performing her job. She still tries to resent him, but she finds that she never can. And as he is about to embark on the most important journey of his life, she begs to go with him.
Appearance: Small, pale, and scrawny, Zhou looks a little younger than she is. Her oval-shaped face is round with remnants of baby fat, and she has no definition in her hips or bust. Most of the clothes she wears hang off of her stick-like frame. She usually keeps her thin, black hair pulled back with a bandana of some sort, revealing the wide, dark eyes that give her a look of constant surprise. Her smooth skin is slightly marred with light scars from training when she was young.
Other: Since Zhou knows the basics of how to use a sword, she occasionally carries one with her, but usually only when she is forced to. Oh, and in case this wasn't mentioned before, Zhou is in love with Roshan. Zhou is madly in love with Roshan. And, um...The Last Airbender.
