Aquila, she is an aloof, placid, and tranquil being. Little is known about the woman's true heritage, other than
the fabled belief that she was the only surviving offspring sired by 'Icing Death,' a black knight of Stormhale.
Outwardly, she is a woman of few words and entirely lacklustre in every aspect, in personality and even
appearance. Though beautiful, her choice of knighthood greatly diminishes whatever feminine beauty she
possesses. Aquila is incredibly loyal to King Aleus, and Stormhale, and would gladly relinquish her life to
preserve their longevity.

What is your character's name? Aquila Mornmist.
What do the locals call them? Ser Mornmist (or) Aquila, Icingdeath.
How old are they? Thirty-nine years.
What is their profession? Knight.

In short, what characteristics do they posess? Aquila is an enigma to some. Though she displays exceptional
vigilance, valour, and vigour, she is seemingly cold of heart and lacks empathy for any aside from the weak and
innocent. She is void of mercy for her foes, and she is chivalrous towards those who deem respect. She devotes
both her body and mind to the sword, and seems to hold no interest in practically anything else, aside from the
occasional smith work. There is no doubt that she is a fierce warrior, with a wise and amicable mind.

A summary of their history would be... Aquila's antiquity often haunts her, and presents many others the
opportunity to belittle and doubt her. She was the bastard child of the black knight, Icingdeath. The black knights
were often regarded as some of the best warriors with adept battle prowess, and appeared in in tournaments
without sigils. Her father, at least under the alias of Icingdeath, never claimed allegiance to any kingdom. Who he
was truly, no one knows; it was rumoured he was in fact a noble or royal of one of the five dominions. Aquila's
mother was a mystery. Upon her birth, Icingdeath put her in the charge of his friend - a strict but kind blacksmith
named Argus. He raised her as his ward, taught her the history of the realms, how to read and write, and how
to forge steel. However, when he passed away, Icingdeath returned to her when she was sixteen years of age,
and took her on as an apprentice. She proved to be a prodigy, but regardless of how much she pleaded, he never
once revealed his face to her. After three years of training her, he simply disappeared from the realm. She lived
her life after that as a mercenary and journeyed the wilds and roads of Stormhale for almost two decades. Aquila
occasionally entered tournaments as a black knight, and won practically each one, until rumours began to surface
that the true Icingdeath had indeed returned from the dead. It wasn't until three years ago, at the tourny of
Summerhall, that she unhorsed one of King Aelus's best knights, and later approached the sovereign with the
request to join his guard. He knighted her instead. Aquila regards Aelus as not only her king, but an incredible
individual who granted her respect her for who she was, and not what she was.

What equipment do they carry? Aquila's forged her armor herself to fit her frame. Her main suite is
light-weight, forged of steel with a pale copper finish, embellished with silver intricate designs located on the
spaluders and bracers. She carries a black leather cinch, and a black scabbard integrated with silver. Her boots
are made of a thick black leather and stretch up to the bottom of her knees. Her clothes beneath are sable, and
she carries a small dirk on her cinch, and another in her boot. Her sword, Frostfang, was a gift from her father
and a weapon he himself once used. It is an old weapon, forged of the finest steel in all the realms with an onyx
handle. The blade itself is incredibly cool, and its' silver shade is seemingly pure and chaste. A large moonstone is
embedded in the pommel, and there are a series of runes etched down its spine. In the moon-light, when there
is snow atop the ground, it gleams and glows.
Anything else? None.

Did you read the rules? Certainly.

So begins...

The tumult of Stormhale’s anger plagued the knight’s ears as she posed sentry atop the upper terrace; even the afternoon winds sighed heavily amidst the turmoil, and caressed her skin with a cool breeze. The sun was high in the azure, bearing down upon her post. She listened to her king address the throng of dissidents and their conceptions. There seemed to be two majorities: Those who feared the strength of the magi stones and desired their ruin and those who sought to empower Stormhale with their magic. Aquila, however, was rather blithe regarding either option; outwardly she did her duty and supported Aelus’ decisions, but her personal beliefs were assorted. Perhaps the stones could help the kingdom with its campaigns against Valtrenna, or perhaps they were too powerful and unpredictable to exist. She could not make that decision, because she had never seen them; Aquila did well to not cloud her judgment with presumptions.

Aelus’ message echoed through the crowd and temporarily sated their unease. When the herald had be adjourned, the king retreated back into his chambers with a face encumbered by affliction. She watched him depart soundlessly and joined him off the terrace. Aquila was still and silent as ice, so much so one could often forget her presence, and when she stood guard, she was seemingly a statue forged or rime. The king made his way to the hearth and took a seat, and she stood away in a corner void of the fire’s radiance. Her lackluster eyes flickered for the flames and watched them twist and contort in a savage dance, until the sound of footsteps deterred her eyes from the jive. Her fingers did not move for the hilt of Frostfang, but were always resting casually upon the pommel. When the owner of the steps entered, she listened…

“My King, the knight you have summoned is awaiting your audience. Do you wish I bring him in?" the guard spoke. The man’s boldness irked her, but she ignored the slight. Weapons after all, did not speak. The rest of the cabal gathered into the chamber, and she studied the vessels of each soul.

Interesting.

King Aelus glanced over at Aquila. "This is Knight Mornmist, if you do not know her do not be quick to judge her as a woman. She is one of my most competent Knights and will be accompanying you on your journey to locate both Scholar Makarrah and the Magi Stones." He stared deeply into the dancing embers within his fireplace as another log was thrown onto the fire. Some of the embers had flown high up within the domed roof of the balcony chamber, safely fizzling out before landing on the ground.

The King gripped his seat tightly as the ground begun to shake violently. The walls vibrated, furniture shifted slightly and paintings had been turned crooked. A chandelier rocked dangerously back and forth above and small pebbles fell from the ceiling. The violent vibrations had ceased as fast as they had begun, lasting a total of three seconds. "Damned Magi Stones!" Aelus exclaimed, he was rather quick to connect them to the earthquakes. Aelus saw them as nothing but trouble and was certain they were causing the earthquakes. This was not the first to plague Stormhale, there have been a total of three earthquakes so far, each lasting some three seconds each. They were not deadly, but they weren't natural.

"Make haste, travel to the outskirts of Stormhale's walls. You will find Scholar Makarrah's tower due west in the plains, not far from the Highway of Avion. Tell him you were sent by me, and he will know what to do," Aelus instructed the three.

"Shouldn't be hard! Good ol' Deborah and I can fly on over! She got the wings!" Zechariah was feeling confident, as usual when talking to 'fireheads', as he calls them. He already had his equipment in his pack. "It's the least I can do, Aelus, since you and your crusaders came to Falcon Forest in time to distract that assassin after my sister and I. That, and the scorgids in Eagle Forest are much more aggressive than usual, and I think the rift has something to do with it. Nothing goes wrong in the wild without me knowing! It's a hunter's instinct!" He turned to Knight Mornmist. "Don't matter what gender anybody is! You got the blades, I got the arrows! We watch each other's backs!"

This was more than he usually had time to say in Eagle Forest. However, he never had to opportunity for much chatting, to begin with. That makes him pretty rough around the edges. Immediately, we went to the door.

"Well, fellas, you comin'?"

Aquila Mornmist
Aquila knelt before the king awaiting his command. Her mind was filled with an eager anticipation awaiting his command. She lay ready to give her life to the man that garnered her such respect and gave her a place as a knight in his kingdom. As the king began to speak the ground trembled and shook as if it was crying out in pain. The king let out a sigh and cursed the magic stones. Aquila had no direct knowledge regarding the stones, but her faith and loyalty in the king was unquestionable. If he felt the stones were a threat then on her honor as a knight she would destroy every single one. The king regained his composure and told her and several others in his presence to seek out scholar Makarrah at his tower. She had heard Scholar Makarrah was one of the most renown historians in Avion. If anyone could give her information regarding the whereabouts of Icingdeath he would be the one. She collected her thoughts to respond to the kings request. "Yes my liege I will leave for Markarrah Tower right away." Whatever aspirations she had for finding her father the kings request would always come first in her mind.

As Aquila left the king's chamber she raised her sword Frostfang in the air checking for cracks or dents. After her inspection was done she slid it back in her scabbard and draped it over her back. She stopped by a few local shops to gather food and equipment for the journey. Aquila exited the castle gates and noticed a large eagle landing in front of her with two warriors riding upon it. She noticed one of the warriors was the impatient hunter that was recently in the kings presence with her and other knights. The other warrior was a young woman wearing a light plated suit of armor. The armor had a faint resemblance of a royal soldier. Aquila stared at the hunter for a moment pondering who his companion was. She nodded in their direction and then started down the Avion Highway hoping to reach Markarrah Tower by nightfall.

"Hang on tight, Lanna! Deborah, Hip, hip!"

Once again they were in the air. They were so high up, Zechariah had to shout. "How do you expect to get there in time by foot, Mornmist? It will be faster if you at least had a mount! Oh, well! Don't worry! At least we're going to the tower!"

Aquila Mornmist

Aquila looked to the sky at the majestic bird flying throughout. A sudden dizziness overcame her as she thought of the uncomfortable nature of flying through the sky with no control over your destination. The dizziness turned to discomfort and forced her to stop for a moment to gather her composure. After travelling a ways further down Avion highway she noticed a farmer delivering his goods to an unknown location. The farmer was more than happy to give her a lift in exchange for protection from bandits and miscreants that lurked around the area. With the aid of a passerby farmer Aquila neared her destination much sooner than expected. She was close enough to see the Gates of the Tower of Makarrah. Aquila notice the hunter and his companion at the entrance to the tower.

Aquila remembered the hunter from the king's summoning, yet the female warrior was a mystery to her. To her knowledge the king had not given this task to anyone except her, the hunter, and another knight. The king would not entrust such a high priority task to just anyone. Perhaps this woman could be an enemy agent seeking knowledge regarding Stormhale's progress with the Magi Stones. She had no direct knowledge of the hunter for that matter. Aquila decide not to let her suspicions guide her judgment. Soon she would be meeting with scholar Makarrah and decided to leave the decision regarding these strangers to him. She cautiously approached the two and greeted them before entering the gates of Makarrah. "Good eve to you my lady, and you sir hunter. "

"Ah, visitors!" Rubius said aloud to himself as he heard the beating of an extraordinarily large pair of wings. The man stood up and shuffled over to his door rather quickly. "Good evening, good evening travel-" Rubius stopped himself to correct his mistake, "knights!" The man let out a rather hearty and jolly laugh that was probably unusual for someone of his old age.

A quick observation led him to believe they might not all be nights, namely Zechariah. Something gave Rubius an air of familiarity about Zechariah though what it was he did not know. Perhaps he had seen him somewhere before. Or perhaps it was simply Rubius' old mind failing once again. Something else, maybe?

"Come in, come in please! Do make yourselves at home so we may discuss the task at hand in comfort!"

Rubius stood aside with his arm outstretched to signal them to come in and sit down on couches. There were three couches in total in his tower, all made of a fine white wood with red silk cushions.

Ever quiet and driven to go with the flow of things, Lanna had waited silently alongside Zechariah, happy to let him ramble on as they watched the sun drift lower in the sky. She did not realize how quickly the change of altitude, having traveled by such unfamiliar means, had exhausted her, and she felt barely awake as the armored woman from earlier approached. Again, she gave Lanna the impression she questioned something, a sense of caution in her gaze despite her politeness. Speaking of politeness, Zechariah's ability to be gentlemanly had caught Lanna off-guard when they had landed, but she was glad for the display as he helped her climb down from the great eagle's back.

Though slowly growing tired, Lanna felt a buzz of excitement once more as the old scholar introduced himself. A slight smile showed on her face, eagerness to hear what he had to tell them overcoming her. As he signaled them into his home, Lanna allowed the others to step in before her, stopping briefly to speak in her soft voice.

"It is an honor to meet such a man of wisdom. Thank you for your hospitality." She bowed slightly, a lifetime of being a lady long before being a traveling warrior showing in her actions, and then she joined the others inside.

Zechariah was not used to couches, but he sat in one, legs crossing like he would when sitting on the ground of the forest. There was much about the lives of non-hunters he had forgotten, especially while staying alive with his sister at Falcon Forest. Now that he is a hunter from Eagle Forest, the man felt he could adapt to his evironment when necessary. He brought out a bag of berries from his belt, holding his hand out for anyone who wanted any. He was accustumed to offering berries, since they are the main sweet food the forest had to offer, and many visitors to Eagle Forest had a sweet tooth.

"Well, Makarrah, you're the boss! What's the scoop on these magi stones people have been talking about?"
