Nespral

"I will show you the path, whether you follow or not is up to you."

0 · 409 views · located in Nigerius Lands

a character in “Battle of the Elements”, originally authored by Midnightclub, as played by RolePlayGateway

Description

Name: Nespral

Pack: Spirit Pack

Gender: Male

Description: Nespral is invisible to the naked eye. But his spirit form does have a basic shape to it. Nespral stands at just under 3 feet tall from the shoulder and about 5 feet long from nose to tail. He takes the form of his Vessels when he possesses them. The Vessel's fur coloring shifts when it is being possessed. This shift is unique to each individual possessed.

Personality: A spirit with wisdom that comes from hundreds of years of watching and guiding, Nespral is genuinely kind and completely honest. He looks to help every wolf he can and lead them onto the path of good. He looks past the outward nature of even the most bloodthirsty wolves. He tries to find the good in every wolf he encounters and he aims to bring the good out of them. He has a hierarchy of those he helps, starting with the ones in direct need of aid and then moving down with safe or powerful wolves coming in last. Having never actually been in a physical conflict, he has no idea how to react to danger towards himself.

Abilities: The Spirits use their own type of element. That of the soul. Other packs can only think of the use of this element as Spirit Magic. A Spirit Wolf can affect the souls of wolves or other creatures around him, causing their auras to shift in response. This ability allows Spirit Wolves to do things like, subtly change the emotions of others or give them thoughts or paths of thinking they might not have otherwise. They also have a great effect over the realm of dreams, where they typically visit mortals in an attempt to converse.

Nespral has a unique ability gifted by the gods that allows him to borrow the bodies of wolves who willingly give him the right to do so. The Wolf that he inhabits becomes a Vessel. When possessed, a Vessel loses it's natural elemental abilities and they are replaced with Spirit Magic. Nespral can speak at will to the creature he possesses and has full control over their body for as long as he needs to. If his host dies while he is inside, he dies as well.

Equipment: Not equipment per se: Spirit Fonts (special wellsprings where the elements themselves have so much sway that they actually have spiritual presence) exist throughout the world that have strange and interesting effects on Spirit Magic.

History: Nespral's previous life was very simple and ended simply. He lived and gathered food until he died of old age, nothing special. But he felt that he should have done more for the good of all before he died. So he came back to guide wolves and help them make good decisions and in turn help others. Over the many years he did this work, he became very good at it. It was this renown as a great Spirit Wolf that led the gods to assign him a task. Something is killing the land itself and it is his job to investigate this phenomenon.

Kryn

Deep in the Valley of Iron, a lone Deon covered with armor strode carefully but bravely. He had eschewed his spear for this endeavor, knowing that he would be heading into cramped caverns. The Knights of Deon had charged him with his first quest: to find a valuable metal and to forge a weapon out of it. While normally, many Knights had gone out and found cold iron, steel, or sometimes even tungsten; Kryn had decided to search for a legend. He had studied for long nights looking into the annals of history for a metal worthy of being legendary. He discovered what he was looking for when he stumbled across the fabled metal Adamantine. Super hard and durable, Adamantine was said to be able to cut through anything. It was also one of the most dangerous metals to harvest and forge.

To Kryn it was perfect. He learned everything about the metal that he could, what it looked like, smelled like, felt like, and the best places to find it. He learned about the hostile environment that usually surrounded the fabled metal and was not deterred. He headed out immediately for the Valley of Iron, looking for one small, forgotten cave.

He walked past many different mine and cave openings before finally coming to a very small opening. He stopped to sniff at the entrance. It smelled slightly of sulfur and azure. Kryn grinned, his metal capped teeth glinting in the moonlight. This was it, this was where he would find Adamantine.

He squeezed his way into the cave and felt around for the raw metal. His powerful nose brought him farther and farther down, deep into the earth. It was starting to get very warm…

Nespral

The Spirit Wolf was honored. Here before him were the very creators of the elements themselves. The Deities had called for him and he had come, as quickly as he could. The Gods were all revered greatly by the Spirit Pack, regardless of who they worshipped in life.

The creatures before him were all brilliant in their radiance and Nespral was unable to even glance in their direction for too long. As it was, he was unable to guess which Deity had spoken to him. Even though he knew only one was speaking, it sounded to him as if they ALL spoke.

“You, Spirit Wolf called Nespral, you will go to Nigerius.”

“Of course Masters,” Nespral said, confused that they’d tell him to do the job he’d been doing for ages.

“The land is dying, Spirit Wolf, the affairs of mortals are no longer your main concerns. Now it is your duty to find the reason behind all of this. War destroys our Wolves while sickness and spiritual disaster kills the land. Discover why.”

Nespral bowed, “Yes masters, of course. Where should I-“ But when he looked around, he was back in Nigerius with no idea of where to start his investigation.

Widget

While the other members of the Borak sought allies and worked towards becoming stronger so that they might win a war they weren't part of, Widget was building. The Alpha had come to her with a request, not an order, to find a way to use the water ways of the Arlyne.

The idea came to her even as she was about to refuse. The Borak weren't great swimmers but they wouldn't need to swim. She got to work immediately, requesting several different chemicals and materials. Her designs were drawn in several minutes and after a day of restless work, she had two prototypes ready.

She brought the Alpha into a room that had a pool of water. “Alright. Here we go. This first one,” She signaled to a nearby gamma that brought a metal cube over with some difficulty, “is what I like to call the Beaver.” She nodded to the wolf who threw the cube into the pool and then sent a bolt of electricity at it. The cube began expanding immediately, becoming thinner as its sides and bottom began splitting into segments that pushed outwards until they embedded themselves into the walls of the pool, cleanly cutting it in half.

“That’ll make this second one easier to use on a downstream waterway. “ She said, picking up a small bluish ball. “You may wanna step back. “ She said, tossing the ball into the pool. It quickly sunk into the bottom and began to glow bright red. Bubbles began to rise to the top, first slowly then coming out more quickly. In an instant the water that had been on one side of the pool surged upwards into steam.

The room was quickly aired out by attendants as Widget stood calmly, looking at the now half empty pool, divided by a segmented metal wall. “Well, am I good or am I good?” She asked the Alpha, who stood with his mouth hanging open.

Kohe

The sandstorm raged out in slow motion, sand flying like waves in an ocean. Kohe stood, like a statue staring out into the cutting storm. He had weathered many like it before and would do so in the future. But this storm was different in that it brought in strange tidings. The sand no longer felt warm or soft as it usually did, instead it was cold and gritty. It was as if the life had been taken from it. Kohe saw the future and it was a dark and gloomy place indeed. So he slipped away to the past, back to a time when this desert was at the bottom of an ocean. He lay there for what must have been decades, slowing time so that the sand wouldn’t harm him, lost in the view of prehistoric underwater currents.

Kryn

Deep down in the bowels of the earth Kryn wandered, Lava traveled on either side of him and beneath him. Where he stepped, wet footprints were left behind that quickly evaporated. His tongue lolled out as he panted in the stifling heat. It was getting harder to separate the smell of the Adamantine from the smell of the lava around him.

He finally entered a cavern lit by swirling floes of molten rock. It was as if he was standing on a bridge, the magma flowed on either side of the thin land upon which he tread. He continued forward, the only way to go, knowing full well that he was nearing the end of his quest. Then he heard a snort from behind as two deep red wolves jumped up from the lava in front of him.

“Well look here brothers.” Said one of the Canicus. “Seems like this Deon’s lost.”

“Oh he’s not lost,” said a voice from behind him.

Kryn turned back towards the voice. A Tenneth stood grinning and looking at him menacingly, his fur ablaze. The Tenneth was flanked by two more Canicus.

Kryn chuckled, his voice deep and hearty. “That one is right, I’m not lost friends. I’m here because I choose to be. But if you think I came for you five, you are sorely mistaken. You should let me pass.” He stood patiently waiting, falling silently into a relaxed fighting stance.

“Nah.” The first Canicus said. “See, there’s five of us and only one of you.”

“Yeah, let’s get ‘im! Let’s get ‘im now!” said a particularly jittery lava wolf.

“Alright.” The Tenneth said, his orange flames turning blue, “Attack.”

Nespral

The Spirit Wolf found himself in a great forest. He traveled inwards, looking for the Spirit Font there. If something was affecting the life force of the world, the Spirit Fonts would be the first to go. He passed several wolves invisibly. He wished he could hear what they had to say, or maybe even help them to some extent, but his current mission was of utmost importance. He would have to eschew any other desires until he completed his God Quest.

The young wolf basked in the praise and adoration of the Alpha and of the other wolves there. It was nice to be recognized for the genius that she was. Her inventions had worked perfectly, as always, and wouldn’t have expected anything different.

After the display, a wolf walked up to her. She assumed it was a general, since all of the others (even her assistants) had left. "Excellent it's about time something went right."

“I assume that means you’ve tried other tactics before coming to me, because things always go right when I’m working on them.” Widget said smugly.

"So I can expect more of these soon?"

“You’ve got the blueprints there. It’s shouldn’t be too hard to figure out, I simplified it down as much as I could. If you really need help, I guess I could spare one of my assistants. I personally won’t make those anymore; it’s no fun to make more of something I’ve already invented.” Widget said, turning to the next general in line to talk to her.

Kryn

Magma blasted at Kryn from both sides as the Tenneth snapped at him with teeth that blazed with blue flame. Krynn ducked under the lava and brought his spiked armor in an upwards trust into the Teneth's side. The fire-wolf yelped in pain and skittered backwards. Two other Canicus' took their chance to spring up from the lava on either side and into Krynn's armor. Their lava flaked fur burning into the steel plate some. Kryn took one around the neck with his metal capped teeth and bit down, hard.

He shook his head and the wolf's neck snapped. Then he tossed the limp body back into the lava. He growled turning to face the aggressors who'd all congregated to one side of the pathway. He charged at them just as the Tenneth let loose a gout of flame. Kryn took the blast square on and felt his fur starting to burn away, the metal that coated it turned red hot as the skin beneath began to cook.

He jabbed his armor spikes directly into a Canicus who yelped and then fell limp. Kryn then used his full strength and weight to hurl the dead wolf into the Tenneth who then toppled over into the lava. The Tenneth, unable to stay afloat in the melted rock, sank to the bottom. Kryn's eyes flashed as he turned again towards the two lava wolves. One of them stepped forward and tried to swipe at the knight. Kyrn grabbed the wolf's leg in his teeth and the wolf yanked it out, tearing several gashes into it in the process.

Both of the Canicus were shaking in fear. "Please, please don't kill us!" The wounded one said, his blood dripping and hissing on the stone floor.

"Do you surrender?" Kryn said, not changing his stance.

The wolves didn't respond. They just ran away, the wounded one limping and staggering as fast as he could.

Kryn blinked twice and watched them leave. He sighed and shook the molten metal off of his fur. "Very well then."

The brave knight then turned back towards the sweet smell of Adamantine.

Nespral

As the Spirit Wolf approached the border of the forested area he was in, he came much closer to the spirit font he was looking for. Near it was one wolf with light green fur and further behind him, another with white fur seemed to follow. They both looked as if they were travelling straight towards the Spirit Font, but it was odd. There was no way that they could know it was there, right? It was invisible to them, or it should be, just like he should be. Nespral became curious and trotted to catch up along side the green one. He looked to see what the wolf was doing and what he was looking for.

Widget

Widget called out for one of her assistants. "You heard the wolf. Go and help them build some weapons." She watched the assistant turn to leave. "Oh and hey. If I hear that any of my creations didn't work perfectly, I'll know who to blame. I'll invent something special just for you." The assistant just turned away and hurried out the door with the other Boraks.

Then the young wolf watched the two generals argue with muffled excitement. She hoped that they would fight, that would surely be a show to see! But, instead, they just yelled some more and then the male general, Bane, left in a huff. Widget sighed. "Oh well."

Then she realized that the female was talking to her. "Oh? What? A business opportunity?" She looked longingly back towards her lab, she had so many ideas, so many thing to build. Her list just kept growing. "Sure, whatcha got?"
