"This is the way the world ends, not with a bang but a whimper" - T. S. Eliot
Sgt. Drake is a very gruff and strict man. His soldiers usually call him Sgt. Strict because of his rigid enforcement of discipline in the men under his command. Although he often appears to be uncaring and unsympathetic towards his men, he understands that most of them are young men that are afraid they won't ever see their families again, and he knows they are right. He has made his men a promise however that he will always make sure they go home, living or dead.
Sgt. Drake also carries about him a sadness as if their is something in his past he regrets deeply.
Sgt. Drake carries the standard equipment issued to men in the British army and one very large knife that is distinguished by the fact the hilt is made of ivory.
When still a young lad Benjamin got in an argument with his father and ran away. Having nowhere to go and no employable skill Benjamin turned to the British Army. He quickly displayed an aptitude for all things military Benjamin was stationed in Africa. Upon arrival he quickly became enchanted with a beautiful young lady who soon became Mrs. Drake. A year later the great Beor war broke out. Sgt. Drake town came under siege. During the siege his battalion was ordered to try and make a sortie to try and stop some of the large guns that were shelling the city. Every man under Sgt. Drake command was slaughtered with him just barely making it out alive. When he made it back to the town he was informed that his wife and soon to be child had been killed by falling shells. Sgt. Drake was forever scared by that and blames his own inability for his families death, this gradually grew to him blaming himself for the death of his troops. When the war began he immediately signed up to serve, trying to seek some way to ease his own tormented soul.
