One would think that life for a member of the wealthy Delacroix family in safe, secluded Black Water would be easy, but Sampson's early life was marked by tragedy. Born and raised on the picturesque Delacroix Estate, four of Sampson's brothers had already passed by the time he was born. Over the years, due to an impossible combination of illnesses and accidents, he was one of four surviving brothers.
Sam always dreamed of being a writer, and as soon as he was old enough he took a job at the local library to be surrounded by books as much as he could. Since graduating from Spring Arbor University, he has been helping his family manage the ever-growing group of Delacroix packs as well as resuming work as an assistant librarian at Black Water Library.
He spent four years away at college, and now that he's back, he's reconnected with one old friend in particular: the youngest child of the Eklund family. The two grew up together, but their time spent apart has allowed them to see each other with new eyes. They were together in the forest when they found Miles's body.
