Edwin Adler

"I am hardly a mercenary, Herr Polizist. I am a security consultant. May I be on my way now?"

0 · 239 views · located in South-East End

a character in “Blackburn”, as played by Uncle Shortbus

Description

Real Name: Edwin Adler

Nickname/Codename/Alias: When on the job, Edwin goes by the codename Jaeger. When not on the job, Edwin prefers to be called "Herr Adler", but will grudgingly accept being called Edwin if there is no deterring the other party from doing so. "Ed" is not an option.

Allegiance: Currently working for the Golems in an attempt to improve relations and open avenues for more people in his company.

Gender: Male

Age: 25

Appearance:
Edwin: Edwin is a scrawny man, only coming in at about 5'6" and barely 100 pounds, but his stature does little to dampen his icy countenance. He usually dresses in a tailored charcoal suit and dark blue tie, and always carries a black leather briefcase. His hair, a dark, nearly black brown, is almost always worn tied back into a ponytail secured with a simple leather band. His features are angular, complemented by the somewhat curved angles of his glasses, and rather unpleasant to look at. Edwin's eyes are a pale grey, which in his youth led to other children accusing him of being a robot more often than not.

Jaeger Jaeger's costume follows the sensibility of Edwin's own style, with sharp angles and clear delineation between the different colors. His suit is tight, providing support in some areas and reducing surface area others. Though overall a darker shade of grey than his usual suit, the colored panels on the undersides of his arms, his chest, legs, and hood are all the same dark blue of his ties. The suit itself is constructed of a neoprene type material with ceramic panels inside to provide some degree of protection at the expense of comfort and mobility.

Personality:Edwin is not a man who could be considered fond of jokes, or really laughter in general. In fact, Edwin's personality is colder than most people would consider healthy, to the point that he'd more likely stare someone down who approaches him unannounced than deign himself to shake their hand. He is a man of business, first and foremost, owing to his mercenary background, and steadfastly refuses to let things such as "emotion" get in the way of said business. When he's not on the job, however, Edwin has been known to unwind with a glass of liquor, though he won't open up much more than he would otherwise. He is more willing to listen to someone when he's had a drink or two, and anything marked as a secret in the conversation is a nugget of information he'd take to his grave without a second thought to value or ramifications of doing so.

Personal History: Edwin grew up not far from Munich, in a small town on the edge of a forest he refuses to reveal the name of. He had a somewhat unique childhood; he often heard tales of his family member's times in the army or other organizations that did much of the same work, and spent a fair amount of his time running through the woods in the pursuit of wild game with his grandfather. Not long after he turned five, his parents bought him a cheap computer for him to tinker with, though it went untouched for many years in favor of running outside in the forest. In school, Edwin was picked on for his size and affinity for hunting, earning the nickname "Kleinen JΓ€ger"(Small Hunter) and shaping his personality into the cold one he has today as well as driving him to play with the computer rather than play with his classmates.

When he entered college, Edwin was still the smallest person in his class, but he had earned the respect of his peers through his quick grasp of computer science and robotics. He began feverishly working on an aerial drone design considered far and above anything his classmates, or even his professors, could create, and ended up graduating much earlier than he had expected. After spending six months bouncing from tech firm to tech firm and finding each of them distinctly different from what he wanted to do, Edwin decided to follow his family's legacy of fighting wars for both their homeland and for cash and founded his own company of mercenaries, the Wildes Heer, or Wild Army. He currently considers his "home" to be a compound not far from where he grew up, though considerably more secluded and deeper into the same woods he roamed as child.

Powers, Weapons, Ect.:
Drones: In college, Edwin developed a drone platform capable of carrying weapons and surveillance equipment. As Jaeger, he employs a handful of his drones, mostly for surveillance, though at least one drone has a gun platform rather than a camera one. Each drone is equipped with a self destruct mechanism to prevent any unapproved person from getting their hands on his proprietary technology.

Sniper rifle: Edwin usually carries a sniper rifle with him as Jaeger, as he prefers to stay far away from his intended target to lower the chances he'd be retaliated against without preparation.

Pistol: Edwin has a pistol he carries in a shoulder holster as both himself and as Jaeger. Neither version of himself sees much use with it, though for Jaeger it's more as a backup than a normal weapon. As Edwin, it's a protective measure against the citizens of Fort Blackburn.

Weaknesses:
Edwin is a sucker when it comes to formality, and as such anyone who automatically refers to him as "Herr Adler" has his full attention. Additionally, anyone who assumes too informal a relationship between themselves and Edwin will find themselves being ignored until the appropriate level of formality is reintroduced. To cap it all off, Edwin is still somewhat physically frail, and in a hand-to-hand fight he finds himself in an immediate disadvantage, even in his armored Jaeger suit.

Any additional information we should know:
Edwin has a single tattoo of the insignia of his mercenary company on his chest. He refuses to show it to anyone.
The Wildes Heer is protected under the guise of being a consulting company known as Herod Security, and many of their contracts list them as such in public records.
Edwin's preferred liquor is apple schnapps, but this is only when he's away from home and only if it is an imported brand. Otherwise, he prefers the beer brewed in his hometown above all else.

So begins...
