The Flincher
Species:
Nightmare
Gender:
āMaleā
Age:
Unknown
Appearence:
The Flincher appears as a shadowy, dog-like creature, with features that seem to bend and twist like smoke in the air. He has thin, narrow eyes, with a primal and often evil glare. His mouth is constantly screwed into a smile, revealing a set of sharp teeth.
Personality/Bio:
The Flincher is a manipulative, fear-based creature, that thrives in chaos. He claims ownership of the city, and acts as its undisputed ruler. Owing to his āgod complexā he kills off those he deems unworthy, or simply obstructions to his plans. His plans are unknown to most, but relishes in whispering in just the right ears to cause more chaos, fear, or destruction. The Flincher seems to distort space hiding himself completely to those he doesnāt wish to speak with. In this way, he can move throughout busy streets, completely invisible. Like other Nightmares, he has limited powers allowing him to disorient and āchangeā space, usually through delusions or other types of simple illusionistic magics. He uses these to spread fear, often by creating a āfamiliarā area, then twisting it into something wicked.
History:
As recovered by the 1923 investigations
The Flincherās history with the other clans is little, but his influence into the occult families that dot Londonās past. The earliest known mentions of the Flincher is an ancient script back when London was a simple Roman city, when a higher member of the city was āvisitedā by this creature. He then told the Roman that he had taken control of the city, and any who opposed him would be removed. This message spread quickly through the city, but the Roman was believed to be a lunatic, and was disregarded. The next actual reference to the Flincher was during the āRipper affairā. As the unidentified killer Jack the Ripper claimed victims, the police began to receive a large influx of letters. Several of these believed to be from the Ripper himself. In one of the letters, a ācreature of complete darknessā that had influenced him into the killing was mentioned. Unfortunately this letter has been regarded as a hoax by the police.
Beyond the influence of the human realm, the Flincher also seems to have avoided the reach of most of the clans that exist in the city. To most, heās a legend, while to others heās a name with no meaning. However, most humans in the city can trace back their influence to the Flincher. He hides behind them, guiding their hands, moving their magic.
Now the Flincher holds little power in the human realm, if only due to the sudden rise in constant conflict that has stricken him from the cityās core.
