The vampiress Danae has a secret caring soul, though she is harshly cold and morbid in demeanor, and easy to anger.
Danae has developed a very morbid sense of humor, and little makes her laugh, let alone smile. Quick to anger and reluctant to forgive, she will hold a grudge for years. She carries a great burden on her shoulders and the shadow of her past follows her relentlessly. Before the tragedy, she was a happy woman, creative and full of dreams. Her hatred and sorrow fester within her, though her good heart shines through at times. She refused to drink human blood at first, but when she discovered it could very well kill her, she resigned to preying on the homeless and criminals for sustenance. She is harsh and cold on the outside, but she cannot seem to lose her kind heart and caring soul.
She recovered the emerald throwing knives her beloved husband gave her, and has accrued many more over the years. She is very skilled at hiding them all over her body; at the base of her neck, at her wrists, tucked in a belt, boots, and various pockets. She wears her husband's beautiful and deadly rapier at her side.
Danae was once a French noble woman, high ranking in society and loved by many. She married a handsome count, Jean-Jacques and they were deeply in love. Later they were blessed with twin sons who looked much like their fair, dark eyed father. The daughter born several years later resembled her mother. The family's lives were filled with joy as they raised their children to learn great works of literature, music, and politics. Little Christelle was taught everything the boys were, including how to ride horses, hunt, and fence. Jean-Jacques insisted that his wife and children know these things in case one day he could no longer protect them.
He taught her to fight with small swords and bows, but when he found she excelled in dagger-throwing he bought her a beautiful, emerald hilt set. She rarely used them because of their beauty. They loved to play games together, whether it be fencing or tennis, or chess and other logic puzzles. Jean was the love of her life and he made her a better person every day.
One evening, as the family dined in the garden amidst glowing candlelight, they were surrounded by dark figures. Her baby girl was swept up around the middle and held tight against the chest of her captor, kicking futilely. The boys were easily held by their arms, unable to struggle against the large men. Jean-Jacques stood up in alarm and was promptly knocked unconscious by a bow to the back of his head. Danae screamed and was also knocked out cold. The group carried their prey into the house, the children screaming the whole time. Their cries did not raise the servants, as they had already been slaughtered and drained of blood. In the fine sitting room, they propped the parents on the sofas, and proceeded to bite the necks of the children. Jean awoke first, and leaped at the attackers, fighting with all his strength to save his children. But the bloody struggle was soon over, and the bastards tore his head from his body cruelly. The children lay pale and lifeless on the floor when Danae finally opened her eyes teared streamed down her face. The silver haired leader of the massacre held her close and gave her the kiss of death, making her a vampire.
He had intended to keep her as his own, but Danae was too smart for his and deftly escaped. For many years she ran and hid, avoiding France altogether. Eventually she went back to recover some of her belongings, but found her home burned to the ground. A local antique dealer had the items she sought, and the bought them and immediately left France again, as the place held too many memories.
