Feral leader of the Rebellion. She's fought hard for her position, and doesn't take crap from anyone.
If somebody were to use one word to describe Kateri, it would be 'controlled'. She has spent a long time hiding her feelings for the Military, developing a great poker face, and she strives to deal with the members of the Rebellion in a calm manner. However, make no mistake that she is as controlled all of the time - she lets completely loose in her fights, attacking quickly and savagely, earning the nickname 'wildcat'. People think twice about crossing her. She is known for being just in all of her dealings with everyone, and saves all of her hate and anger for thoughts of the Military.
She treats the men like brothers, joking around with them, and doesn't really know how to act around the women - however she has a soft spot for them because of her sisters, and enjoys stopping by to converse and watch the children.
She is weak whenever she sees families together, reminding her of what she lost. She is determined to find out what happened to her own, but has had no luck so far, and despairs of ever finding them because it as been such a long time apart.
While Kateri has made sure to become proficient with most weapons, such as a bow and arrow, spear, dagger, etc. she is most comfortable and most deadly with her short sword, which she carries on her at all times. It is the most suited to her style, allowing her to fight close range and brutally. She also carries a small knife in her boot, and when caught without weapons, is not averse to using her fists.
Kateri's family did not agree with the principles of the other Ferals. They lived peacefully away from the upheaval and unrest of the cities, minding their own business. She had a good home life, peaceful and happy, the middle child of 3 girls, until she was about 10 years old. Then the military came for them. Her father was a former general, but had left and refused to come back, because of his family, and he disagreed with their opinions of the bird races. Angered, the higher-ups decided to make an example of him by taking away his family. They left him alive, held down, while they slaughtered Kateri's mother and stole the children. Her older sister, already a great beauty, was sold as a bed-slave, and her younger as some rich family's maidservant for their child. Kateri was not pretty enough or old enough yet to be some rich man's bedmate, and definitely not docile enough to make good money being sold as a slave. No one would pay for her, seeing her lash out at them and snarl like a caged animal. Finally, they just stuck her in with the boys training for the military, half for amusement, and half because they hoped someone would beat some sense into her.
Surprisingly, she excelled at training, channeling her rage into becoming the best fighter she could. She was forbidden to see what had become of her sisters or her father, treated like a pet, The Military members amused by this girl the boys were so afraid of. She learned quickly not to let them see how much she hated them, otherwise what little freedom she had would be taken away from her. So the years passed, Kateri slowly forgetting what it had been like to have a normal family. The other boys she was training with became her family. Then, the war started. She went along with the rest, thinking nothing of what she was supposed to do, until she saw the bloody forests, bodies laying everywhere. She had killed the occasional member of the bird races before, but never had she seen something of this scale. Her entire being rebelled against it - she knew, without a doubt, that this was wrong. She took advantage of the fighting and deserted, knowing that she could not return and pretend she was one of them anymore, this injustice was too much.
And so she hid, and eventually found her way to the Rebels. She spent a year earning their respect and fighting towards the top of the ranks. Now, she is the leader of the Rebellion, organizing attacks against the Military and helping the Regals, while smuggling ferals who are trustworthy out of the cities.
