The young prince of a nearly extinct race seeking justice
Ember is a bit more fiery than those in his race usually are, but these are different times, and they call for a different approach. His is fueled by his thirst for justice, and deeply feels the tragedy of his people. His past has had its affect on his nature, and the lighthearted nature that once defined him had turned somber. He has very depressed moods that can come on quite suddenly, but this is true of most of the massacre survivors. Though the Regals were once a tranquil race, the murder of their kind now defines them, and many are undergoing great changes.
Ember does try to remember the qualities his race were once known for: grace, mildness, kindness, and he endeavors allow those qualities to shape him. But, he no longer allows himself to shrink from confrontation as he once did, and always tries to make the noble choice where he used to make no choice at all.
He will always treat all people with dignity, though not always with kindness. He has learned to be cautious of his enemies, and, like all of the bird races, no longer trusts the Ferals. He does respect those Ferals who have chosen to side with his kind over their own, but he cannot bring himself like them.
Overall, Ember is a mild-tempered individual who seeks justice for his massacred people above all else.
Ember does not have much in the way of equipment. He tried to learn how to use a bow and arrow, though he was not very successful. He still carries one with him though, a long bow made of white birch with a golden string.
He wears light-weight robes, mostly white, but he will wear other colors when they are available. He keeps a gold pendant with a smooth, round moonstone in the center around his neck. It was given to him by his mother before she was murdered.
He, like the rest of his race, has the ability to read and manipulate the emotions of others. He can create calm, panic, sadness, happiness, love, hatred, etc. He only has power over a small group of people at a time, and the larger the group, the less of an effect he has. When someone around him is feeling a particularly strong emotion, it can be difficult for him to focus. He feels what others feel, so a strong emotion can be uncomfortable.
He was also taught to identify certain herbs with medicinal value. He carries a few medicines on his person, and can make more from herbs that can be found in forest, rivers, shops, etc. Knows very basic first-aid.
Ember lived in the forest of his people, hidden from the outside world for his entire life until the day of the massacre. He lived a happy life as a member of Regal Royalty, studying various things. His father, the Regal King, and mother, the queen, loved him and his sister very much. When he they reached adulthood, his parents decided to have more children. Life was tranquil and uneventful until the massacre.
That day shaped him as a person more than any other day in his life. The Regals had given up the only weapon they possessed long ago and had no way to defend themselves. They were a proud race, and even those who remembered the ancient art chose to die rather than betray their ideals. It was pure slaughter. The Feral army killed without mercy, and Ember could do nothing more than watch helplessly as his family and people were murdered. It was only by a miracle that he and his sister, the last of the royal family, made it out alive. A member of the Feral army, evidently feeling the guilt that was well deserved, helped create a distraction while a small group took flight, beyond the reach of the Feral's bows.
The journey to Circa Island was long and bitter. Still more wounded Regal died during it. After word of the massacre reached Circa, the small group whom the prince escaped with were met by a Circan relief party.
The two years since the war began are a bloody blur for Ember. Above all, he remembered the loss of many of his kind. He lived, hidden away with his sister in Circa castle. Every now and then he would come up with some crazy idea he thought would help their chances. He alone is responsible for the Regal giving up their peaceful ways and joining the fight.
