Introduction

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

My grandmother used to tell me about men. Big, hairy creatures as violent as the rainstorms that swept across our plains in the flowering season.
Beings who were supposedly like us females, but different in ways I couldn’t imagine, having never met one myself.

And on those nights when Grandmother’s crackling voice whispered secrets into my ear, I would lie awake in my bed for hours afterwards, frozen with the fear that they would breach Eagle Talon’s walls and kill us all.
Or worse, that they might drag us off to their village where we would suffer a worse fateâ€Ļ

Character places:

Conduits:
Conduits are Guardians who possess special powers. Fire, water, air, healing - They can only use their powers when they have something near them that relates to it. A river, an already lit flame etc. (apart from a healer)Their powers are very draining and they can only use them for a short while before becoming exhausted. They are also strong and lithe and can fight with their swords. Their powers aren’t a sustainable weapon and they cannot rely soully upon it. No woman is born with the Conduit powers, they gain their powers gradually. Any woman can become a Conduit but they are rare. A fire conduit is the rarest. Powers come from their hands- if their hands are bound together with their palms facing one another (as if praying) they cannot use their powers unless they wish to blow their hands off!
Conduits: Open
1: Brea- Taken by WhiteTiger08 (fire)
2: Seren- Taken by Nivosity (air)
3: Reserved for Just sayin' or ToccoaClark
Healer: Open
1: Reserved for Jigokunoshinzo

____________________________________________
Guardians:
Guardians are women trained in combat, their duty is to protect their home and their sisters. They are talented in combat as they are both quick and lithe, they have keen swords and sharp spears. Guardians are not conduits but they are capable of using small amounts of energy to stun their opponents. Using this particular talent is costly though- it drains their power quickly and will leave them dizzy and fatigued. A guardians first and only job is to protect and fight. They dislike the Huntresses and believe they are the only sincere protectors. Energy Powers come from their hands- if their hands are bound together with their palms facing one another (as if praying) they cannot use their powers unless they wish to blow their hands off!
Guardians: Open
1: Reserved for Michaelis_xXx_Elly or Sunshinexdeath
2: Corin- Taken by Cienpher
3: Leotie- Taken by Shmband

____________________________________________
Huntresses:
Similar to Guardians the Huntresses are women specifically trained in the hunt. Lithe, tall and graceful. They can read the earth and hunt anything from man to beast. They prefer their bows and arrows but they can wield a sword as well as any Guardian. Their job is specifically to hunt and they hold themselves above the guardians because they are the providers. Energy Powers come from their hands- if their hands are bound together with their palms facing one another (as if praying) they cannot use their powers unless they wish to blow their hands off!
Huntresses: Open
1: Assah- Taken by Meesha
2: Hollow- Taken by Bubbleyum
3:Katarina- Taken by Korrye

____________________________________________
Men: Can be young, old, middle aged. They belong to a make shift brother hood. They do not get along alike the women. They are quite selfish and only band together to achieve their own goals. Men possess no powers, they only have their general strength and size as an advantage. It is still a vast advantageâ€Ļ
Men: Open
1: Aedan- Taken by AlmostInsane
2: Callous- Taken by Meesha
3:Baccus- Taken by Shmband
4: Wylfred- Taken by Rarikou

[font=Papyrus]PLOT: Don't worry! There is a plot going on! I'm just keeping a fair bit of it in the dark to make it more exciting for the rest of you but I will be revealing things over a short period of time.

Please read the prologue of Conduit: Prologue : It’s only a page long but it holds essential information and sets the scene for those roleplaying so you understand exactly how men and women view one another.
Reading conduit will give you a great foot up in the roleplay. I've covered basic's here but it'd be brilliant if you could read a few chapters to really understand it and well...FALL IN LOVE WITH IT!

The setting:

Set in days where horses are used to get around. It's all quite tribal. We can all collaborate on the scenery but keep this in mind when describing things. There are vast lakes, forests, wild beasts and animals- plenty of nature!

Rules and Extra Information:

+ Any questions or queries don't be afraid to ask :) As GM i'm hear for questions.
+ All basic roleplay rules apply so please follow them, no godmodding etc. and please stay realistic despite the fantasy themes.
+ Romance, betrayal, death, life etc. It'll all go on in this roleplay but keep it in IC. Let's not brandish our spears and beat our chests in the OOC.
+ Did I mention how much I love questions?? - If someone asks a question on the OOC and you already know the answer don't hesitate to tell them as it saves me repeating myself

+ Please follow the character skeleton I set up. It's nice to have a consistancy within profiles. Do spend time on your profiles. I'll be disappointed if you don't include detail etc.
+ Swearing isn't a priority so lets not do it too much.
+ I'm looking for mature players who will be able to carry off this roleplay- people who can really get into their characters.
+ If you join. Stay with me. It's the least you can do ;) Or I'll be forced to hunt you down and do terrible things!!

+Everyone on here is literate otherwise they wouldn't be joining a roleplay site but I would like people who enjoy writing decent sized posts. You can get an idea of how much you should write from my first post. I'm not expecting 2000 words within every post but a decent amount would be LOVELY!
+ Reservations can be made but nothing is yours for certain until I accept your characters. More than one person can reserve a spot.

I Can't think of anything else just yet but if I think of something I'll sling it here!!

Female images: Click here

Not all images on either of the albums are suitable for this roleplay, I will leave it up to you to decipher which are okay and which aren't. Don't hesitate to ask if an image is suitable if you really, really like it. You obviously don't have to use any of the images in the album they are merely there if you want them and also to get the wheels turning when you're selecting an image for your character.

I grew up hearing about men. Big, hairy creatures as violent as the rainstorms that swept across the plains in the flowering season. Being allegedly similar to us females but different in ways I could only imagineâ€Ļand on those nights when the stories were most vivid, I would lie awake in my bed, frozen with fear that they would breach Eagle Talon’s walls. And kill us all.

Assah opened her eyes. The surroundings of her room were dim but light shone through the cracks in her window where the cloth had become frayed. She’d fallen asleep again. With a sigh she swung her legs over the side of her bed and sat up straight. The significance of today had kept her up for most of the night and into the early hours of the morning where she’d taken it upon herself to pack essentials and to check that every single arrow head in her possession was sharp enough to bury itself deep into any carcass whether it be man or beast. The result had been her sleeping in on debatably the most important day of her life.

Freshly out of slumber she collected her bow and arrow in a hurry and swooped out of her home with the rest of her gear. The skies were tie-dyed with various glorious shades of orange suggesting it was deep into the day. With her long legs and lithe figure Assah covered the ground between herself and the caravan swiftly like a gazelle. Luckily for her preparation for their journey had been slow and the various sisters around her were just loading the last of the goods aboard the wagons.
In the past the wagons had been horse-drawn but since such a time two new wagons were invented specifically powered by the air and water conduits. It was a much more efficient way to travel if not slightly faster. While the goods were transported that way Assah would be riding her horse. A pale mare with silver markings upon her rear she was a beauty and Assah loved her almost as dearly as she loved her sisters. The magnificent creature waited for her in the pen with all the other horses travelling with them.

Looking around at all the familiar faces and giving out a few quick greetings to those who noticed her Assah smiled when she spotted Aria nearby. Jogging forth with the skirt of her tunic rising at her thighs Assah joined Aria placing a hand on the huntresses shoulder.

“Look’s like we are nearly ready to go” She hoped Aria would confirm her speculation, for today they would be travelling with the caravan between Eagle talon and Eagle eye to trade goods and good greetings. The journey would take approximately 2 months and it would be the first journey Assah had ever been assigned. There wasn’t an unexcited bone in her body and the sheer adrenaline in her system had her dying to mount her horse and ride like the wind.

In the space of a hour, Leotie had achieved about seven stiches. Which if she were fashioning a piece of apparent purely for pleasure or relaxation, wouldn't be a problem. But this was a repair job she was doing for the blacksmith, as a return favour for repairing some damage to the blade of Leotie's axe. And at the current rate, the tunic would never be finished before Leotie had to leave with the trade caravan heading for Eagle Wing. And the smithy was unlikely to be willing to wait for her to get back in two months time to finish the job.

But it was no good. As she held the tunic in front of her, all she could think about was the journey ahead, how strange it would be to be away from Eagle Talon for so long. She had done the tour before of course, but it was part of her training, and was at a time when she was craving a change of scenery from the village anyway. This time there was something that much more...real about it. And this time she couldn't expect any benefit of doubt for being a younger member of the guard; to the contrary, it seemed that there were a few younger women making their first journey and Leotie was one of the 'experienced' ones. That was a frightning thought.

The sound of hooves approaching rose above the din of early morning chatter, and the sounds of people setting up their respective trades, and exciteable young girls being followed by weary mothers, many of whom had no doubt been awake since before the rising of the sun. Theirs was a job Leotie did not envy. Parenthood was like going to war, it seemed, except that you did it alone. On the plus side, at least you could decide how badly you wanted to be outnumbered. One to one, two to one, three...four? It depended how many times you were called.

The noise rose higher as a sound - which had still not yet become commonplace enough to be 'familiar' joined the sound of hooves. This sound was a strange wooshing and churning; it was the elemental carts. The first time Leotie had seen one she'd almost wanted to laugh; something about the cart moving 'all by itself' seemed comical. But the practical benefits were undeniable. Of course, there would still be horses on the journey. Which reminded her that she still had to saddle up her own.

Gritting her teeth she laid her eyes on the tunic in her hands and worked as quickly as she could to repair the tear. The effort paid off. In less than twenty minutes the garment was serviceably once again. She hung it up in front of her abode where she knew the blacksmith would find it, and strode towards the epicentre of the commotion. Immediately she spotted Assah, one of the aforementioned 'greenhorns' on this journey. Leotie thinned her lips and nodded an amicable greeting. If she could steer clear of hot-heads like her, it would make the excursion a lot more pleasant.

Katarina "Aria"
Huntress

It was barely dawn when Katarina was aroused from her sleep. Her body woke of its own accord as the mourning doves kept in the coops next door began to coo and rustle restlessly. Despite her physical desire to stay in bed the lithe twenty year old rose from her loose sheets and twisted bedding to go to the bath and dress. As she rose and slid her feet into a worn out pair of sheepskin slippers her eyes cleared from sleep to focus on the faces of her blood family. To her left was her mother curled up on a small bed in the corner with her six year old sister Osha. She stepped gingerly over her second sister Manon, thirteen, who slept on a mattress beside her own bed. As the eldest, Katarina was the provider. While her mother was an expert seamstress and textile worker, her hands had become crippled with pains and agonies that limited her ability to work. While her blood sisters tried to learn, Aria was left to her own devices to provide. As she stood in the doorway to their bedroom she pulled her huntress tunic off of the wall and a loose cotton shirt to wear over it. With the clothes over her shoulder she turned to look back on her family, her face dim and tired. Manon blinked twice and met her gaze before rolling away from her bitterly. They were so divided.

Slowly she closed the door behind her and as quietly as she could moved on. The kitchen and sitting room were both still dark. She moved around their house knowing where everything was, her hands sliding over the wooden counters and into the cupboard to find a breakfast packed for her by her mother the night before. She pulled the paper bag down from the cupboard and slid it into a small leather backpack left on the kitchen table. As she pulled her tunics over her head her long red brown hair became tousled and filled with static. The day was dry, which was good. It meant there wouldn’t be any rainstorms and the animals wouldn’t be restless.

Aria moved into the bathroom and looked into the mirror, seeing her electric looking eyes and steely gaze. She sat down on a beat up wooden stool and pulled a brush through her nearly hip length hair, pulling it over her right shoulder to braid it tightly before winding it into a tight bun at the base of her neck. A few loose strands hung over her forehead but she left it messy. She cared little for her looks. A huntress had to be functional, not pretty.

As she washed and prepared for the day she found herself focusing on the trip at hand. She had been on a handful of convoys before but had often stayed behind in order to pick up the slack when the other huntresses traveled. This time it had been demanded by the elders that she go and while she didn’t quite understand why, she could not disobey them – much to her family’s chagrin. Manon hated the idea of her sister leaving the village and they often fought about Aria's occupation. Her blood sister complained about Katarina abandoning them to die in the midst of her trees – trees she seemed to love more than her own family. She fought back and said that she provided and used her skills to ensure they didn't starve or become dependent on others. Her mother sat quietly by all the while, merely disappeared with her daughter’s decision to pursue such a violent profession. Hunting.

Aria pursed her lips and sighed. While her family seemed to disagree with what she was doing, she knew it was right. It felt natural and she never felt better than when she was in the woods. With that she collected her lunch and satchel off the kitchen table, heading outside.

As she left the house she moved to a rickety shed behind their small abode, unlocking the front panel gingerly and entering the musty building to collect her pride and joy – her bow.

The weapon was a deep colored wood, lacquered and painted a deep mahogany but detailed with an ivory grip and emerald colored details that allowed it to blend with the woods. As she gripped it the bowstring echoed and the vibrations went up her arm – a feeling that seemed to put her in harmony. She moved swiftly to collect her quiver and hand-made arrows before taking a worn path behind their house into the woods.

The sun was beginning to rise as she walked swiftly and alone through the thick brush. The huntresses didn’t often like that she went out alone but she so preferred it. She walked skillfully and as light as a fox, her balance not allowing her to snap the slightest twig or branch and disturb the hunt. Her breathing slowed as she reached a thick cedar tree. Slinging her bow over her shoulder she took a running start at the base before scaling three levels of branches to perch, her back to the base of the tree and her feet balancing on a thick beam. She smelt the air, crisp and fresh with the morning sun, and began to scan the area, her bow in hand and an arrow notched and ready. As she sat there she watched the sun cresting over the hills, careful not to be late this morning when she knew she would be leaving with the caravan quite early. It hadn't been necessary that she hunt this morning but it was routine for her to start the day off doing so. Why break with that?

It may have been minutes or an hour, but she was still all throughout it. When a doe walked cautiously underneath the tree her eyes honed in on it, watching the animal gracefully lower its head to nibble at the underbrush by the base of a nearby tree. She watched its muscles quiver and pull with the arch of its neck to the forest floor. She watched it eat for several minutes before raising her arrow and bow to take aim. She leaned her head to her shoulder and back again, closing one eye then the other. Aria exhaled deeply then inhaled, releasing her arrow on the latter before watching it fly with killer precision.

Right as she released the arrow a branch snapped behind the base of the tree a few feet away. The doe snapped alert and bolted and Aria’s arrow landed in the back of its thigh as a result. The creature screamed and kicked, its leg immediately lamed. Aria growled her frustration, leaping down from the tree and rolling to prevent injury. She stalked the animal as it attempted to limp and run away. She notched another arrow quickly and took an archer’s stance with precision. Within seconds she fired another arrow into the creature’s heart, watching it struggle and collapse a moment later. Aria turned to look over her shoulder, snarling as she watched a small apprentice huntress meekly look at her from behind a tree. Ren. She was no more than thirteen and horribly unsteady on her feet. She had olive colored skin and crudely cut black hair, all paired with the most earnest looking eyes. “I’m sorry Aria!” she shouted, rushing over to the twenty year old with sincere disappointment in her face. “But you still got it at least!”

“It shouldn’t have had to suffer such fear,” Katarina snapped, sighing lowly and turning away from the apprentice and approaching the animal. She knelt at its feet and closed its dead eyes. She placed her hand first at the base of the arrow in its right thigh, feeling the warmth of its flesh under her fingers. The pelt was beautiful, but its blood still coated her hands and quickly so. She closed her eyes. “I thank you for what you give us and for your life giving us life,” she murmured, before pulling and twisting the arrow out with a violent tug. The apprentice grabbed the bloodied arrow from her, and then second one as well. When Katarina rose to pull the deer over her shoulders the apprentice remained silent, walking slightly ahead of her as they returned to the village.

The center square of Talon was incredibly busy with the caravan’s multiple wagons being prepared for their two month journey between their sister villages. As she approached her shoulders were beginning to minutely strain under the dead weight of the doe. She walked past many of the sisters, nodding her head, before she headed to the huntresses keep where the doe would be prepared and distributed.

With her catch left behind she washed the blood from her clothes and returned home. Her sisters were at the table, eating. Manon looked up and upon seeing the bloodied white tunic turned her head back to her breakfast. Osha’s eyes widened but her view was quickly blocked by their mother Ceri.

“Quickly change. I’ve left you your clothes on your bed for the journey. No need to be late,” her mother ushered her.

There was no comment as to what she had caught or why she was bloody. She simply moved and dressed in her formal huntress attire, the deep green backless tunic and boots and greaves. Instead of the formal skirt, however, she doned a pair of tan leather shorts that hit above the knee. She tied them with a dark belt. She packed the rest of her essentials in a larger over the shoulder bag made of red cotton and beaded. When she moved into the kitchen her blood sisters remained quiet. Her mother kissed her forehead and pushed her down into a chair, pulling two black feathers off the table.

“They fell from Dani’s raven. I thought you would like them.”

“I do,” Aria murmured, holding one her hand while her mother undid her hair and knotted the feathers above and under her right ear. Once they were knotted her mother swept her long wavy red brown hair to the right and pinned it into a side pony tail, allowing short pieces to remain loose if they didn’t pull through. When she was done Katarina stood, looking at her mother silently before finding herself pulled into a tight hug.

“You will come back to me. Promise. It’s the only way I'll let you go,” Ceri told her. Aria swallowed and pushed her forehead into her mother’s shoulder. “I will. I promise.”

“I am so proud of you,” her mother told her, pushing her back and smiling weakly. “I’m not,” Manon chimed in. The twelve year old looked bitterly at her. “I love you too Manon. You had better take care of Mama while I'm gone.”

Aria moved around the table and kissed Osha on the head in the crown of her blond hair. “And you too Oshi. I’ll be back. It’s only two months.”

With her goodbye’s finished she returned to the village center, dressed and ready and praying her family would be fed and taken care of by her village sisters while she was away. It wasn’t like Ren could fulfill what she provided.

As she stood there mulling in own thoughts Assah approached, content with the weather. “Look’s like we are nearly ready to go,” her fellow huntress smiled. “I should hope or else we’ll be late,” Katarina replied. She knew her full name would be of little use these next two months. Only her mother called her by it. To all others she was Aria and they all seemed to know that she didn’t wish to spend more than a minute longer away from the village than she needed to. As she waited for them to leave she kicked the dirt with her boots, uncomfortable in them and their weight. She was uncomfortable with the entire idea of a journey to be honest but with the others so excited she hid her dread behind a thin smile.

Hollow

Her timid, almond shaped eyes sprung open at the speed of light, her body fell awake her nose smelled the crisp air that surrounded her. She sighed as tiny pecks of dust pasted her eyes, she yawned loudly as she stretched out and resisted the urge to jump out of bed. She scurried into the bathroom and bathed and dressed herself in a mud-colored tunic. She slipped into sturdy worn-out boots whose laces are breaking apart, she tied her shoulder-length hair into a ponytail that barely touched her back. She easily stepped out of her small tent, grinning of course, she was excited to start the adventure as she slung her bow behind her back.

Prior to the day before, she was practicing shooting her arrows her feet meeting with the crunchy leaves that fell and laid upon the floor. Her eyes dimmed she hid behind a small bush and narrowed her eyes and watched the little rabbit that was running around as prey. She took out one of her arrows and pulled back her draw string narrowed her eyes and aimed for the rabbits little pupil and boom. In a literate blink of an eye, the rabbit was dead and she slowly walked over to retrieve her bow from the rabbits eye. The rabbit was all white with a pink nose and long whiskers and ears, the rabbit was chubby and had a lot of meat and the blood dripping from it's eye stained the furry coat. She quickly left wiping the juicy ink like blood of the tip of the arrow with the palms of her hands.

She watched as her fellow sisters packed the last of the things onto the wagon carried on this year by the water and air conduits, although this method was much faster she liked the horses much better since she herself had nothing much but a fat dark brown female cat named Bontaya, who was to be staying at her tent taking care of by her fellow sisters. Nervous she bit her lower lip waiting, awaiting for their adventure to be gone and to travel afar away from home a part of her wanted to stay..a part of her wanted to be brave and go. 2 months she wondered with nothing more than the wilderness as a friend and the crisp cold air for comfort.

Her eyes scanned the area she spotted some people she knew, they were all joining on the journey. She walked over to Leotie on of her favorites for some reason even though she had a fire like temper, she was still pleasant to chatter with. She looked down at her feet and raised her head and smiled at Leotie and greeted her. "Are you well prepared?" she asked now wondering if she supplied everything she needed to survive. She waited for her to answer and smiled before walking away and greeting some of her sisters such as Assah and Aria, whom seemed to be indulged in a conversation and didn't want to disturb them.

She sat down and was approached by her blood mother whom seemed to have been crying recently. "Mother?"she asked "Why do you shed tears on such an exciting day?'. Her mother stared at her with her green eyes much like her own, her same round face and complexion and basic body features, just older and with more wisdom. "Be careful" she muttered before kissing her on the forehead and running back to their tent, which she was not in when she woke up. Hollow did not have any blood sisters and this meant her mother was her only blood family. She didn't take the words lightly because of the reasons, she waited waiting for the time to leave. She was not just excited she was curious, she wanted to see the animals that she would encounter while there, the weather changes and patterns, her bow and arrows were also in top condition nothing less. She was ready, but her gut was whispering doubt feelings to her brain, warning her this was not the best idea. She shook it off she didn't become who she was by listening to her gut.

Brea opened her brown eyes softly. Realizing the day, she sighed. With half her body still asleep, she heaved herself up and stretched. She bent one knee and extended the other, dropping her weight on the bent one. Doing the same with the other, her limbs slowly came to. Sinking down to a split, she muffled a groan and held it. Pulling herself up, she bent down to touch her toes. With her nose almost to the floor, she noticed her knapsack in the corner, full of her supplies. Straightening herself, she dressed and laced up her boots to her knees. Grabbing her bag, she met her mother at the door. After a few reassurances and a tight embrace goodbye, Brea headed down the steps and walked to the group of sisters waiting around the stable.

A trip to Eagle Wing sounded great at the time being, but as of now, Brea's stomach was in a knot. She had been on several trips before, but none like this. The journey would take two months. Which meant two months away from her mothers. Two months in the wild. And two months away from the safety offered at Eagle Talon. Nightmares had been haunting her the past few weeks prior to the trip. Last night was uneventful, with a gray, dreamless sleep. Probably due to the fact that Brea was too exhausted to create anything to scare her out of her wits with.

The trip would be on horseback. She wasn't scared about that part, for she had been riding since she was young. She was more afraid of the dangers that lie ahead. And not just any specific danger. Men. The large brutes that roamed the area outside of Eagle Talon. The creatures everyone had heard of, but had never seen for themselves. The dark figures lurking in the nightmares of all of the sisters. The beasts that scared Brea the most.

Brea had been training since she was young. Training, but not just with weapons. She was a conduit. One of the rare sisters with the ability to control the elements. But not just any element. Fire. If a flame was near, Brea could summon a blaze out of the palms of her hands. The only fire conduit in Eagle Talon, she had a big job. Spreading light throughout the tribe, and keeping everyone warm. The job took much out of her and unfortunately cannot be relied on as a useful weapon. Having skills in archery and knives, Brea can surely defend herself;she just wasn't sure how long she could hold up against a man.

Walking into the stables, she notcied several other girls already with their horses. Brea nodded in a silent hello an headed for her mare. A large black horse with white markings around the eyes, and a white handprint on the rear. Brea whispered words of reasurrances to calm the mare, waited for the signal to mount.

The first thing one noticed about situation was the smell. Stenches of unwashed bodies, animals, excrement, urine, smoke, meat, and several stenches that Aedan did not care to name. Nonetheless, he was at least fortunate enough to be heading for a camp towards the edge of the forest he normally dwelt in. A normal settlement smelled worse, though it provided more coin, trade, and entertainment. He was curious about what the other men were planning. He had heard that some big-shot was planning on a raid on a caravan. A caravan belong to Women, carrying Women's goods, and guarded by Women warriors. Aedan smiled slightly in anticipation. He had fought women before and they were intriguing creatures, rather like Men, but different: less hair, cleaner, spell-bindingly beautiful, and, most importantly, incredible and plentiful treasures. The risk was high, but the prize... He could only begin to imagine what his share of the loot was, assuming no one tried to cheat him.

He glanced around the encampment, somewhat approvingly. There were plenty of tents made from animal furs and skins, a huge firepit in the middle of the encampment, the horses coral led in a corner away both from the forest and the fire, but with plenty of grass and water troughs, and a large amount of men. Good. They would need numbers if they wanted to get the women's goods The camp tents were huddled together and stakes of wood surrounded the encampment with guards at the only entrance, making it defensible. It was over to these men that Aedan swaggered over to, an easy grin on his face.

"Who are you supposed to be?" one asked, more burly and therefore dumber looking than the other. Aedan grinned slightly.

"I'm a women disguised of a man through sorcery and potions. I'm here to devour your children, poison your crops, and enslave you with my witchcraft," Aedan said sarcastically, causing both to grip their swords. Alright, either they weren't too bright or they had no sense of humor.

"What do you think, you pignuts? I was invited here by your boss. Callous or something. Got to get my share of the plunder, aye?" he told them with a shrug. The thinner one sneered.

"Who are you calling a pignut? Besides, how do we know you're not really a woman?" he asked mockingly.

"Why, my dear friend. If I were a woman, I'd be charmed by your good looks," he told him, patting him on the shoulder before slipping between them faster than they could react, "Now, if you excuse me, I have some herbs to sell, dice games to win, and a tent mate to find."

He never bothered with tents himself, being able to find caves quite easily and possessing a small treehouse towards the middle of the forest, but it was good to plan for contingencies, even if he had to part with a little gold or a small piece of the goods he was to pillage.

There was annoyance iin the air... was it men talking? He was used to such talking, but they interuptte his train of thought... what was he going to do again? Such was life, and as such, you got used to it. Wyl simply shook his head with a small smile, fully used to it. He was sitting on the ground, having just set up a tent of his own. Relaxing slightly, he reached into his bag, grabbing some hrbs had had obtained on his travels, and began mixing them toger in a small cup shaped-looking thing, applying other things when nessacary.

From what he gathered, they were after Women, or something of the sort. He didn't really care for the details... if he knew them, chances are he forgot them. Pointless things didn't manner. He was here to provide support. Medicine didn't make themselves, weapons didn't make themselves... he WAS intrested in the beings known as women however... He would have to ask for one when they completed... whatever they were doing. His eyes gave a littl sparkle at the thought of dissecting a woman, and he licked his teeth as he did. That was his calling, he felt. Dissect a woman, hopefully find the source of their 'legendary' abilitties.

He calmed himself, adding some water fom a pouch he carried, making the paste more liquidy, more easily appliable. That would do, a appliant to help wounds heal was complete. He smiled in satisfaction, putting it in a small bottle on his chest. He would have to set up a small area later and find some metal. That way, hee could provide his second job here: providing weapons. Throwing knives were his speciality: they didn't take much metal, and they were SO useful...

He stood up, the chains on his waist giving a sudden rustle as he moved up. He walked outside, staring at the sky for a few moments, before walking out, passing the guards. "I'll be back. I'm off to look for herbs and plants and... whatnot." He said, walking away while waving non chalantly. Rosemary, herbs with white tails... he hoped he had everything he needed, and some things he didn't. He planned on staying up tonight, and begin experimenting. He gave a big grin, though it was seen by no one. What an exciting feeling it was, tearing open something un-torn-up before. Just that felng alone gave him a burst of energy. Off to exploring he went.

Leotie glanced to Hollow and offered a subdued smile. It was difficult to know if a pleasantry from a huntress was truly on amiable terms or whether there was something to be read between the lines. However, Hollow's simple question seemed innocent enough.

"I hope so." Leotie replied, "Half the challenge with these journey's is that you cannot know for sure whether you are preparing for a hiking trip or an ambush."

She eyed the girl as she continued towards the other Huntresses, paying heed as Hollow's mother approached her and kissed her as though it would be the last time. Nobody was under any illusions that these trade routes weren't dangerous. The understanding between the settlements of the women and the nomadic male groups was less stable that one would be comfortable with, but it was difficult to imagine that the men would be bold enough to attack a caravan of this scale. It wasn't as though anyone could fail to recognise the mutual dependence men and women had on each other, even if it did seem to extend to nothing more than the continuation of their race. That was a topic Leotie didn't much like to think about, since she personally hoped that it would be a faculty she would never personally have to contribute to!

With an impatient sigh she returned to her hut and gathered the things she had already prepared for the journey which were not loaded onto Azalea, her horse. Pulling the wolf pelt over her shoulders always felt like a sort of 'point of no return' when it came to the execution of any given task. It wasn't something she chose to wear at any other time, and in some ways it helped to demarcate the times of action from the times of ease. It also felt like it gave her body a bit more of a balanced weight whilst carrying her polearm.

With everything she needed, she returned to where the caravan was gathering, noting that the crowd had not yet grown much. With another sigh, she took a few steps towards the three huntresses and stood nearby. There was no point standing all alone and sticking out like a sore thumb.

Seren

The sun shone on Seren’s closed eyelids, and with a short grumble, the young Conduit of Air flickered open her eyes to reveal their dark irises. Today was the day that her journey was finally going to start. All she saw were the waving leaves above her, and realized with a start that she had fallen asleep underneath a tree - probably from watching the stars late at night, unable to sleep with the exciting anticipation resting in her stomach. Pushing herself up off the hard ground, she cracked her spine with a sigh of contentment.

Seren turned her large brown eyes towards the sky, just in time to see a small robin take to the air from its perch and start flying, its wings flapping as though its life depended on it. A small smile rested on her face, before she closed her eyes. Seren spread her arms like wings, imagining exactly what it would be like to join the avian. In flight, she could tickle the air currents and finally really be part of her element, Air.

But there was no point in being sentimental in such a time. It was a time for action! Not for wallowing around in the mind. She was supposed to be a member of the caravan, where they would be going to visit one of the villages - she forgot which one exactly. But whatever it was called, and wherever it existed, she really was supposed to conserve her energy and strength for when it was really needed.

Giving a sigh of annoyance, Seren tossed her messy white hair over her shoulder. If they were supposed to arriving sometime soon, there really was a need for her to actually get her stuff together. She glanced around where she had lay for mere moments, vaguely remembering through the haze of drowsiness that she had thrown her stuff somewhere nearby. But no - they weren’t there. Narrowing her dark-colored eyes, she turned with one practiced step and started to make her way back towards her house. Her gait was smooth and almost sinuous, as she strode with her head tilted backwards as usual. Her short sword had to be there if not here; there was no way that she could have lost it in a mere month’s time.

Entering her small hut, although spacious for its singular occupant, she saw that there was a small pile of three blue feathers neatly placed on the table, along with that obnoxious disappearing sword. The rest of the hut was like a sea of chaos compared to that small spot of neatness. Picking one of the largest feathers, she tucked it neatly behind her ear, and sheathed the sword sword in the leather scabbard that hung by her side. Seren had still not gotten down to choosing it a name, but there was no need. It was just a tool after all. With that in mind, she turned her attention back towards the feathers, and tangled the two left into her hair. She always loved having some shade of blue - like her element.

She exited her hut, walking with a lighter step. While it was slightly immature of her, the only comfort that she would grant herself during the journey was the ability to wear something blue. If only blue dye wasn’t the luxury that it already was, and all so rareâ€Ļ Perhaps there was a reason for this trip after all. Other than the excitement that it would bring, it would be a strike of perfection if they had some to trade - a sky blue tunic would be heavenly.

The tripâ€Ļ what was it that had completely slipped her mind?

Something about the transportation systemâ€Ļ

â€Ļ

It would be by horseback. With that dreaded fact in mind, she headed towards the stables - and hopefully, that Fire Conduit, Brea. Seeing the woman with her horse as always, Seren walked closer. “Brea!” she said with a neutral expression. “Have a horse that I can borrow for the trip?” While horses were such an important part of the village life, she had never really gotten along with those four-legged beasts, and therefore, never really had the interest in owning one. But the Fire Conduit would. Brea was so obsessed when it came to those animals, it almost made Seren wonder if humans or horses were placed higher up in the Conduit’s heart.

Katarina "Aria"
Huntress

Katarina stood and swallowed as she watched several sisters quarrel over the way in which one of the caravans was being packed. The huntress impatiently shifted her weight foot to foot, discontent that it was growing later and that she was literally standing and doing nothing. Sighing she walked over to the back of a caravan, watching as one of the younger traders struggled to lift a box. Without thinking Katarina extended her hands, palms facing the box, and willed her energy to help lift it. As women they had all been blessed with powers by the Goddess Marianne. It was known that some became conduits but they all had the basic telekinetic powers. Her fingers felt the spark of energy leave her and lift the crate and she smiled when her fellow sister no longer looked strained. She recognized the girl as one who typically travelled. Her name was Rae.

“Thank you Aria,” the trader smiled. “Only a few more to go.”
“Of course, not a problem. Where are they?” Katarina replied, more than willing to keep helping if it meant a quicker departure.

With the last three crates she aided in lifting them into the last caravan. Once they were stacked Rae leapt onto the pile of goods gracefully and began to tie them down with the help of another sister. “Aria, it would be best to get your horse ready. It won’t be long now before we depart,” Rae advised with a smile as she secured a long rope to a clip at the base of the wagon.

Katarina was quick to head to the stables where several apprentices and stable girls had been taking care of the fleet of horses. Aria had used one horse in her lifetime whenever she needed one. The mare was large and daunting to most of the women, and brutally stubborn with most. She was jet black with a silky mane and tail, what one of the elders called a thoroughbred. Aria had named her Jet as a foal and ever since she’d began her huntress apprenticeship she’d worked with the mare. Most were content to offload the horse onto her as she had a habit of kicking and biting unfamiliar people.

Katarina bridled the horse and saddled her simply. The more elaborate gear had been claimed by the conduits and guardians leaving some riders bareback. Aria didn’t mind as she was a seasoned rider. Several times a week she was hunting on horseback in the woods, especially if a larger bear or cougar was running afowl. It was some of the others she worried about, especially some of the younger girls not used to days on end atop a horse.

When she was adequately prepared she walked the horse back out to the caravan gathering. Most of the sisters appeared to have assembled and others encircled the village center to say good-bye. She spotted her mother and little Osha but Manon was nowhere in sight. Katarina swallowed, blowing her blood family a kiss and hiding her fear. She pulled Jet towards the caravan and swung onto the mare's back with ease and grace. She shuffled herself in the seat and the horse pranced sideways for a moment before Aria tightened her reins. "You're as hesitant as I am," she murmured to the horse. She patted the mare's neck soothingly and sat tall in her seat, bow and quiver over her shoulders and saddle bags packed with extra necessities and her own personal belongings. All she needed was the command to go.

Brea grabbed a bridle and swallowed thickly, already nervous for the journey. Trips were nothing to her, as she had been on several before. Week trips to the lake where the banished lived, and simple things as such. Two months was longer than she was used to, but nothing she couldn't handle. Something just seemed wrong. A dark feeling the the pit of her gut made her rethink her decision in going. Noticing someone had spoken to her, she snapped back to reality, letting her train of thought derail.

Seeing Seren, she smiled. She had seen the conduit around Eagle Talon, and had spoken to her on occasion, but had never really gotten to know her. She nodded in answer to her question, and pulled the reigns of a dark bay mare from a stall to the right of Brea's stall. "She's already set up. I was going to bring her along, just in case she was needed." She handed the reins to the air conduit. Brea loved horses, and had always gotten along with them. She raised her mare from a foal, and gave her the name Kaia. The mare was given the namesake of a horse Brea's mother had had when she was younger. She lost the horse in a battle against the manly brutes known as Men. Not knowing many sisters in Eagle Talon, Brea usually spent her time riding the terrain with her mare.

Placing a red blanket under the dark saddle, Brea mounted her horse, and guided her through the stable. Noticing Aria, she waved and smiled. Being as huntresses believed they were better than the other sisters, Brea befriended Aria, thinking she was different. After departing, she guided Kaia to a caravan.

Placing a hand on her throat, she fiddled with the necklace that lay warm against her skin. A single ember rest slowly burning in the small gem. A conduit always needs a piece of their element near to use their power at hand. For Brea, being a fire conduit, the smallest of burning flames could supply enough energy to give her power. The chain of the necklace was dark leather braided thinly together. The jewel itself was black, with a faint red hue. It supplied Brea with enough power to light a candle, or enough to burn everyone in her path.

Hollow breathed in and out felt her heart pounding upon her tight chest. She coughed, a sudden feeling of dizziness arose. What was happening? she thought biting her lower lip, till it bled. Her mother had excused herself and sobbed away into the tent. She was nervous, too nervous. She wanted to quit and not go, be taken care of and eat some warm soup... but then this was her first mission, her first adventure. After her last one ended in a drastic fight, which she lost most of her vital memories..and blood.

She glanced back at the girl she was recently talked to. She was not well-know, nor did she want to be or so it seems, she herself never seemed to make real friends, maybe some acquaintance who occasionally waved and said ''hi''. She was now surrounded by a group of girls chattering about the upcoming adventure. She gulped, held her breathed and forced a smile. The closer it seems to leaving the sicker she gets. She held her stomach as a young girl and her engaged in a small conversation. She stood kicking muddy rocks with her worn out boots, the wind blew her hair blew to one side covering half of her face, as about know her hair was disturbing her she gained a rubber band and tied her hair together in a messy ponytail.

She found her lazy pussy cat wandering in the grass, trying to hunt. She couldn't help but chuckled, it was surprising seeing something so fat engaged it self in such activities. She chattered a bit with a girl named Brea, she was young and tall and everything Hollow is and it was like for her looking in the mirror, by now the feeling of homesickness had drifted and

The humid air had a sudden chill to it as the departing transportation made it's way around and suddenly a gasp of goodbyes overfilled the air, although she said goodbye to her mother she skimmed the crowd looking for her again, saying goodbyes to random strangers she didn't know, even their first name. By now Homesickness has showed it's ugly head...and she couldn't help but barf, up her previous meal on the shoe of a girl she perceived her name was Assah?
She looked up at the disgusted girl wiped her mouth and disappeared in the crowd. In hear mind only one thing ran "Punk ass bitch"

Tala rose from her small bed as the purple light of dawn shined on her through the window. She gave a large yawn and stretched as the light shone brilliantly on her lovely skin, warming her to a degree. Today would be the day that she was to go on her second trip to trade with the bigger village of Eagle's Wing and she was a bit nervous for it. She was certain that should the trip not go well, the blame would be placed on her as she was the oldest Guardian. She ran a tough brush through her long, black hair and hoped the trip would go well. She set about finding her clothing and armor in her little hut and upon finding it, slipped the lighter bits of armor on. She packed the remainder of the clothing as well as supplies need for repairs to armors and weapons. She also packed a whetstone, a handy piece of stone that sharpened weapons to a fine, deadly point.

Tala braided her hair in a slow, meticulous manner. She always enjoyed doing so and it reminded her of how her mother used to plait it for her. There was no mother now to play with the hair she so valued in life. There was nobody but Tala in this little hut built for two. it was true enough Tala valued her "sisters" so to speak, but she felt they never truly understood her the way her only flesh and blood did. Illness and disease had been a large factor in killing her own ancestors off, leaving her to hope she didn't fall prey to it as well.

She sighed as the morbid thoughts ran through her head. It's best not to dwell on this, she thought to herself It will only make you all the more anxious. She finished plaiting her hair and grabbed her sword and shield. She strapped them securely onto her back and grabbed her deer hide pack of supplies and left her hut. The morning was inviting and women were setting up booths to sell their produce and such at market. Tala mulled over buying an apple before her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of crates being loaded into the trading caravan. She looked around to see Aria using her power to load crates onto the caravan. What a waste of energy. she thought absentmindedly. Aria then turned in the direction of the stables and Tala thought it best to get her horse, Pema, from the stables as well. Dismissing the idea of buying an apple just yet, she made her way briskly toward the stables.

Upon arriving just behind Aria, she saw that the stables were a little crowded with some of the trading party. She didn't feel very much in the mood for conversation today so she gave a small nod to Aria, Brea, and Seren and saddled up Pema for the trip. She quickly finished the task and gave Pema a once over making sure that sh felt well enough for the long journey. She gave a satisfactory nod to herself and lead Pema from the stable out into the daylight.

Tala came to a stall and bought an apple for herself and Pema. As she was feeding Pema her apple, Aria was getting atop her horse. She walked over to her and spoke. "If you'd like, you may give this apple to your horse. It will be a long journey after all." she said holding out the apple for Aria to take.

I'm not the most experienced with roleplays, so I have a question. If someone tags me in their post and interacts with my character, do I have to reply right away, or does someone else reply first? Do I have to wait for everyone to post before I can post again\?

Re: -C O N D U I T -

I don't know. I never read the book.

Re: -C O N D U I T -

I was also going to ask if the main good or evil characters in the book would all be NPCs since we have Neta as one.

Re: -C O N D U I T -

Should I play Brea like Terne is in the book? I've been reading the book lately and I can't stop reading it. I noticed that Terne can be hostile but warms and opens up at the end. Should Brea be like that?

Re: -C O N D U I T -

Still, should check. Better safe than sorry.

Re: -C O N D U I T -

people are posting in the wrong places lol."the land" as opposed to "the brotherhood" or "caravan"

and appendicitis is usually abdominal pain as opposed to back pain. (ie you lean forwards in pain grasping your stomach as opposed to grabbing at your back lol)

Re: -C O N D U I T -

I've got a really back pain in my lower back that's lasted a couple of days now...really worried it's my appendix :( what do you all think?

Re: -C O N D U I T -

I did post. Haha. :P I'm waiting on other people too it seems.
