Kia just screams cuteness. He’s the kind of guy that makes girls have nosebleeds, and can turn a straight boy gay… Though that may be because it’s not too hard to imagine Kia as a girl, but still. Kia doesn’t even do it on purpose (though he can). His big eyes, cat ears, and tail all add together to make him physically attractive to just about everyone. His innocence seems to have escaped out of him and emerged onto the outside… Which makes it hard to believe that this guy could have killed anyone, let alone done so without any mercy or hesitation.

Innocent
Looking at him, he looks a lot younger than he actually is. This also holds true with his personality. He’ll run around in curiosity, and wants to know everything and anything. When he isn’t doing something he becomes frustrated, having lots of excess energy to get rid of, and is prone to pacing or randomly hoping up and down. His emotions are usually positive, and even if you do get him down he’ll pop right back up without a moment’s hesitation. Thinking is complicated, and he likes to keep things simple… Well, not to say he doesn’t think, but his mind isn’t as sophisticated as other people his age. You could blame it on his power.

Cat-Like
That’s really the only way you can describe it. He purrs when he’s happy, likes taking random naps in warm and comfortable places, and even enjoys the same toys as normal cats do. Yarn ball? Heck yeah! He is easily engaged in simple games, and amuses himself with the strangest of things. Like a cat he can watch other people do things with a curious look, like he’s not quite sure what they’re doing but finds it interesting anyway. He also has a habit of sticking his nose in just about everything, even if it isn’t good for him, and likes knowing what everything is and what everything does… As you can imagine, he’s gotten quite a few unpleasant shocks within his life.

Curious
Like I said above, Kia can’t keep his nose out of anything. They say curiosity killed the cat, but it hasn’t killed him… Yet. Whether it’s a secret or a hard to open box, Kia will gleefully spend hours of his time trying to figure something out. Give him one of those box-within-a-box things and he’ll open each and every box, one at a time, and get a mildly disappointed look when he realizes that it’s just a bunch of boxes… But then he’ll become happy, once he realizes that they’re boxes, which he loves to play in. Referring to above, it’s hard to get him down, even when he’s disappointed by a ‘discovery’. Puzzles are one of this cat’s favorite things.

Emotional
Whether he’s a bubbling pot of happiness, or a cloud of sorrow, Kia doesn’t have mild emotions, only the extremes. While his default is being happy, cheerful, or generally carefree, he might wallow in sorrow for a few minutes or become extremely fearful depending on the occasion (like thunderstorms). This also means that, if one manages it, he can become a raging wild cat trying to claw your eyes out. So yes, you may want to keep on your toes, just in case… Though, come to think of it, you’d have to seriously want to anger him to push him that far.

Power: He can turn into any cat, from house cats to big cats. This has actually screwed so much with his DNA that he permanently has cat ears and a tail, though he can change the color/pattern.

History: Kia did not have a normal childhood. He was born with cat ears and a tail, something that really set off red-alerts when the doctors realized that. Unsure of how this was possible, they ran his DNA through a machine and found that it had been tampered with, and was highly unstable. While the doctors didn't know who did this, why, or what that meant for him, they still let Kia go home with his mother and father (albeit hesitantly). There his parents made a choice; they were going to try to give their son the most normal life possible, and that meant keeping him away from pretty much everyone else and ensuring that he felt completely normal and at ease with his cat-like features. Despite this, they hoped and prayed that nothing bad would come from their strange son.

Kia had no other siblings and grew up alone, his parents using various online programs to make sure that he had a good education and would still know what he was doing if the time came when he would be able to walk around other people without being treated differently. However, Kia was told that he was not allowed to go outside without his parents watching, and that other people would be mean to him because of his strange looks. As he grew up, Kia never understood this, but accepted what his parents said without another word. After all, they protected him, right?

Still, he couldn't quell the feeling of loneliness that often washed up over him, and even when his parents got him a kitten for his sixth birthday, it still wasn't the same. Kia would constantly look outside the windows, taking small catches of the children that played outside. Whenever he asked his parents if he could join them, the answer would always be a variation of 'no', followed by some unspecific answer. Deep inside, Kia was becoming restless, but on the outside he was still good as gold. The real problems started happening when, on his eighth birthday, his mother realized Kia had stopped growing.

It was also the same year that, desperate for someone new to talk to, Kia turned himself into a cat and had an hour-long conversation and playtime with his house cat. Needless to say, his parents were starting to panic. It wasn't easy to schedule things so that Kia would have someone with him all the time, and it didn't help that he was starting to use his new-found powers to get into all kinds of crazy situations. It was really bad when he learned to turn himself into a lion, since the neighbors called animal control and Kia had to be locked in his room for a whole hour, and that's putting it simply. Kia's restlessness was growing, and it was starting to show itself on the inside and out.

The first time Kia interacted with other children was when he was twelve. His parents had given up, deciding that Kia would be too scared to even think about venturing outside and playing with other kids, who were all much taller and generally scarier than him. They were wrong. As soon as his father's car disappeared, Kia ran outside and tried to befriend the other children. At first things went all right, but then one of them decided to grab his tail and found that Kia's sounds of pain were amusing. The watching parents pulled the other child away, only to scream in fear when they realized Kia's tail and ears were real. His parents were contacted by multiple doctors, scientists, and government officials about Kia, but they weren't required to hand him over until something else happened.

This time Kia escaped at night, thinking that he was old enough to go and see the streets he had only heard about, or seen in movies. Walking around with a hood over his face and his tail awkwardly hidden in his pants, he made it all the way to downtown before he ran into two drunks. They decided that he was a little kid and would make a good, quick screw. Kia panicked when they started pulling at his clothes, and turned into a lion, roaring in fear. He went on a fear-filled rampage, and it wasn't until the local animal control managed to knock him out (thus transforming him back to normal) that they realized it was the boy from years and years ago. The Facility was his only chance to live safely, because of the number of people who wanted the monster caught and killed.

Feelings:

Jerico: The spec scares Kia, but, true to his childish personality, the boy still wants to become friends with Jerico. Besides, 'JJ' (as Kia has nicknamed him) has his good moments, even if they are few and far between. Kia thinks that Jerico just needs a big hug and more friends, and very little is going to stop him from befriending Jerico.

Kaili: It's hard to say exactly how Kia feels about the spec. Sure, Kia likes spending time with him and seems to childishly flirt or turn-on Kaili every time they're together, but he doesn't do it on purpose. Still, Kia seems to be taunting Kaili, so it's only a matter of time before the cat-boy figures out his feelings or is screwed... Literally.

Other: You might think that his favorite food is fish, but it’s actually deviled eggs. If you make them/get them for him, he will love you forever. Another thing is that his ability seems to have also screwed with his aging; as such he appears to be in his childhood (around seven or eight). Kia has a soft spot for romance; as a child he would watch the movies and want someone else to be that close to him.
