XXXXXCenturies ago, intricately weaved tales of otherworldly, fox-like creatures permeated the lands of East Asia. Such stories, ones in which invaded the ears and minds of those who listened to the accounts of others, peasants and kings alike, quickly became common among the humans. All recollections of encounters with the being resulted in the same illustration: a fox not unlike those of the average nature in appearance, turned transcendental by the multiple tails in which it grew and it's inhuman powers and abilities. Now in modern times, the Nine-tailed Foxes are known as little more than fictitious, fabricated elements of Asian folklore, literature, and mythology. The overall accounts of the being portrays them in multiple situations- monsters that terrorized the people, dutiful wives of human men, tricksters who lead foolish travelers astray, and lovers of those who had such desires.
▐║ ABILITIES :
XXXXXPerhaps the most notable, and well-versed, ability of the nine-tailed foxes is their aptitude for conjuring illusions, utilizing the distortion of the senses to create misapprehensions. Many have taken payment or reward from Nine-tailed Foxes initially in the form of money or material wealth, only to find that part or all of the sum consisted of old paper, leaves, twigs, stones, or similar valueless items under a magical illusion. Despite having a human physical manifestation that is solely their own, the fox Fae have been known to duplicate the appearance of others. However, consistent physical contact is required for the Nine-tailed Fox to retain such appearances, and one look at their shadows, a fox in shape, easily reveal its true nature. If necessary, the Nine-tailed Fox will willfully manifest in the dreams others as a device of communication. As they are reputed to be the source of its magic, the tails of the Nine-tailed Fox will generate either fire or lightening under the command of the Fae. Other less noteworthy abilities of the Nine-tailed Fox include increased strength, agility, and sense of smell.
