In Japanese culture, cats may become demons if they achieve certain requirements. To become a bakeneko (monster-cat), the cat may've either: lived over ten years, weighed one kan (8.25 lbs), drunk lamp oil, or grown their tail too long. This later option is said to result in a cat with a forked tail, which is a particular type of bakeneko, the nekomata. Nekomata are particularly known for causing poltergeist activity, but like all other bakeneko, they may also transform to achieve other powers. When a bakeneko transforms into a demon, they may appear as long as five feet in length as a monstrous cat who walks on hind legs. This form of the nekomata can talk, fly, create ghostly fireballs, go into people's dreams, leap over a fresh corpse to make it a zombie, and, in some cases, shapeshift into a human form. A nekomata usually shapeshifts into someone's image if they intend to eat them in their sleep and take over their life, as bakeneko can eat anything and everything in their way, no matter size; they even feast mainly on a poisonous snake unknown to humans. However, other nekomata may appear as a beautiful woman in order to marry and have children with the owner of the house they reside in.
Personality/History: "There once was a small house cat that loved it's owner very much, and the owner loved it. The owner was poor, but he sacrificed some of his own meals every night to feed the cat as well. However, the man became ill and at the same time, his cat disappeared. He was very sad, as it seemed the cat he loved so dearly had abandoned him to his death bed. And so the man was sick for three weeks, unable to work of buy food and without any family or nearby neighbors to help him. When he awoke the next morning, he knew this would be the last day, his disease would surely kill him in the coming hours. However, he heard a soft voice asking him for permission to enter. In desperation, he agreed, but only on the condition that the woman bring him water to drink. He waited and soon a beautiful young woman entered, with a large jug of water and plate full of delicious food, which she sat in front of him. He ate greedily, praising the ancestors for sending such a blessing to him on his dying day. He thanked and blessed the woman many times over before he recognized her from the nearby village. However, when he asked her name, it was not the same as that woman's. He soon felt tired and fell asleep, asking the woman to return the next day with water again. However, a villager came first, with news. The woman from the next town over had been attacked by a vicious creature and died. The woods were dangerous, but this messenger gave the ill man some water out of pity. The man mourned her, fearing it had been only her spirit that had passed by. However, later in the day, she came to him again. He questioned her, why was she haunting his doorstep, was she a good spirit or a bad spirit? At his questioning, the woman turned into his dear cat, but with two tails. The man screamed and tried to fight what he knew was a demon and angered, the cat slew him. And as the messenger came back to check on the dying man, he found only the corpse..."
Chiasa claims to have come over from Japan many years ago, still speaking with a slight accent on her 'l's and 'v's. She never speaks of family or work, but she seems to have somehow come into a great amount of money, as she lives in a nice home with a maid, never leaving. She has an aristocratic air about her, despite how young she seems, but is prone to outbreaks of anger. Nothing much else can be known about her past without asking her directly...
