Introduction
"In honest work, the food is bad, the wages are low and the work is hard. In piracy, there is plenty of loot, it's fun and easy and we are free and powerful. Who, when presented with this choice, would not choose piracy? The worst that can happen is you can be hanged. No, a merry life and a short one shall be my motto."
Welcome to the land of Melonii. Welcome to Hell. Of course, it’s not Hell in the actual sense, but it’s just about as close as you can get without dying. Melonii was once a prosperous world filled with magic and united under the just and peaceful council. Then, everything changed.
Science was discovered. Science brought things like guns, which could be used by anyone, even a fool. People embraced science, for it appeared to them so change life for the better. It created better living standards and provided people with luxury they were unaccustomed to. People began to forget the magic that had once protected them.
That was when things went bad. The council became corrupt. It began horrific experiments where it merged the flesh of animals with science. It created horrific monsters that ravaged the world. The council banned the practice of magic, and executed all who were caught using it. The council taxed the people of the world heavily and they began to starve. It came as know surprise when people began to turn to other means of receiving food, such as thievery, and piracy. The council tried to stop the pirates and thieves by banning maps so they could not see the location of cities. But this did nothing to stop them.
A thousand years passed and the world of Melonii sank deeper and deeper into blackness. Only a few people remain who have the ability to wield magic, and the names of the countries in Melonii have been forgotten. Times are hard. One day, a pirate captain discovers a treasure worth all the gold in the world. This pirate captain finds a map, a treasure map.
You are a member of the crew on board the ship of this pirate captain. How you ended up there could have been anything from free will to fleeing executioners. But there is something you don’t know about the ship, something no one, not even the captain them self, knows. Everyone on the ship has magical abilities, and the map came to the captain for a reason.
These are roles available on the ship. More can/will be added as necessary.

The Setting
This Rp takes place in the world of Melonii. Members of the council hold the only known maps. Also there is THIS MAP which the captain of the ship has. This map depicts the route to the treasure, several cryptic messages about certain places, small pictures showing important locations, and the layout of the land of Melonii. The style of this rp is steampunk. If you don’t know what steampunk is, google it. The fact that this is a steampunk Rp means that people dress according to steampunk fashions and the science and inventions of the time are similar to those of the steampunk genre.
Powers
Each person on board this particular pirate ship has a sort of super power. Below is a list of available powers. Please note that you can reserve a specific power, as well as role, but all reservations are forfeited after 2 days have passed without a character being submitted. The Story So Far... Write a Post » as written by 9 authors
“Good riddance,” Jinx said to herself as turned to face the sea. Apak was great and all, but Jinx couldn’t help but think that it was high time she was back on the sea. On the sea she was free and powerful, on land she was bound to an earth that did not move beneath her feet. Jinx was ready to be off pillaging and charging into battle once more. However, pillaging would have to wait for this was a very special journey. Jinx patted the map she kept in her pocket. She had had not yet told her newfound crew what it was that they were seeking. She had merely mentioned that she knew the location of a great treasure.
Jinx turned to look at Apak once more only to find tat it could no longer be seen on the horizon. She grinned, now that the ship was well out to sea it was time to tell the crew what it was they were seeking, and how they would get there.
Jinx stood on the top of the bridge and shouted out to all the crew, “Set her on a southern course and then meet me portside!” It was not a question it was an order, and Jinx expected them to comply.
Before she stepped down from the bridge Jinx added, “It is high time you Bilge rats learned what exactly you’ve signed up for!” Grinning Jinx stepped calmly down the stairs to the main deck. She stood tall as she walked portside to await her crew.
Silently he stowed his few belongings next to his chosen bunk. There was nothing valuable; there were a few science instruments which it was unlikely anybody else on board even knew were for. His gun he kept on him. Not only was he keen for it not to be stolen, but he had to keep in mind that he was aboard a pirate ship now. So whereas in past sea voyages the dangers had consisted of pirates, now they consisted of the council, legal privateers and other pirates. Self defence could no longer be considered a mere precaution.
Moving up onto the deck he made his way up to the bridge in time to hear Jinx's command. A southerly course...it stood to reason, since that was more or less the direction they'd struck out from port on. He examined the bridge desk for the first time, looking at the map that was laid out. It was curiously unmarked...clearly a fairly new map which had been put in place for Martin himself to plot a course on...but conspicuously did not bear any marks made by the captain. Did she possibly have her own map elsewhere? It did not mind him much if she did. Again, she would tell him what he needed to know to do his job.
Silently he sauntered down to the deck and waited along with the others for the captains instructions.
Her scanty belongings had been carefully placed in the bunk she claimed. One of Nyclora's goals was to enlarge her amount of possesions by the time this voyage was over. Since she was on a pirate ship Nyclora had sewn hidden pockets in her bag to conceal some of her more valued items. She doubted a small book, some medical ointment, and some dried peppers were items that would be on the top list of things that people wanted, but one could never be sure.
Where exactly was this ship going? Nyclora wan't sure, but the captain just sent out the word she would be revealing what the crew had plunged into. As she walked towards the portside Nyclora became aware of smoke coming from her mouth. Not now! She took a flask of water from her belt and took a swig. To her relief, the smoke stopped drifting out.
Nyclora arrived at the place the captain had said to meet at and waited for her to speak.

He heard the Captain's orders. Jinx, a face he recognized, a female captain. Of course, he can remember meeting the captain when he was younger, just a runaway girl with a lot of potential. Of course, she's really matured now.
Diamonte tied some wire around a plank on the nest, and he changed his clothing to a blue, clean, expensive looking pirate outfit, and had a white eye patch over his right eye, and a cloth tied around his head, like a pirate. Using the wire to make his fall slower, he jumped down onto the main deck. It would look like he came from nowhere. Jinx would have already known it was him, for he didn't change his hair or face, but nobody else knows yet that he was even on the ship. They just knew this first mate as Lloyd Exburna.
"My my my," he said casually, "Anything important?" he leaned against a post. with a calm grin on his face.
A gentle smile formed across her face as she fondly remembered the better days, and how she'd never be able to get back, those fond days...
The captain's order was clear, and without any hesitation, the young woman carefully swung back and forth to ensure every inch of rope, sail, and mast was cleared and ready for a tough journey. The cabin boy that had helped her tie everything up brought a poor experience. It explained why the lad was so careful, and there was no doubt he had rarely ever been up a mast for more then two minutes.
After everything was said and done, the Rigger took one last glance at the now disappearing border that was Apak. A new adventure awaited her, a tough one, but an adventure nonetheless.
The blonde woman quickly, but carefully let herself slide down the mast. A satisfied sigh escaping her lips as both her feet touched the wooden deck. A thought sliped through her head, so rushed was the departure, that the rigger had little time to actually take a good look at her room.
The captain wouldn't be too bothered by a bit later arrival, and the young adult had to go grab her gear anyway. Better to be late and prepared, then early and arrive with empty hands.
As expected, the room was all but surprising. The crew's quarters would generally be nothing more then bland rooms with bunkbeds, a lantern, and a bit of room to drop whatever gear you had with you. With a rushed attempt, the rigger slung her gear, a large custom made rifle, over her shoulder and made her way back topside for the debriefing.
At least, she thought it was a debriefing...
“Nina reporting for duty, ma'am.” The blond girl had arrived portside, and squeezed her inbetween any crew members that had already arrived. She gave her captain a quick two fingered salute before leaning back against the ship's railing to hear whatever plans her new guide had in store...
Sheer cursed the Apak silently, her lip curled, eyes narrowed in distaste. Her last captain had tried to sell her off as a slave girl. What nerve... The little sailer gazed up at the sky, sadly, she had rather liked the crew she was with. Too bad the captain was a dumbass. So when the female captain approached her, how could she not say yes? Maybe the captain would try to sell Sheer off too, but then again, maybe not. Who knew? She didn't really care as long as she got to get back onto the ocean. She had missed the salty pray and the smell of fish so much. Three months on land was too much for her to handle. It felt like she was going to die. If things came to the worst, she would just fly off to somewhere safe until she could find a new captain that would want her theiving skills.
No matter, she was where she belonged and she felt great. Sheer started laughing happily, out of the blue. She felt so happy.
Her ears twitched, taking in her new captains order. Sheer grinned, it felt so great to be home. She walked over to the riggers and started helping, her movements confident and sure. This was the only life she knew afterall. After she had done her share, she patted down her pockets, making sure her weapons were there, she had put away her other belongings down at her bunk. Sheer Breeze was excited, the other crew members looked so impressive to her earnest eyes. It would be an honor to work with them, maybe even that cabin boy.
Then she headed to where the captain, Jinx, had told them to meet her, Sheer beamed up at the older woman, ready for anything

With a grunt, she swung her legs from the bed and slowly (very slowly) walked towards the group of people. Sky allowed her eyes to roam, taking in the ship. It definitely wasn't grand or of high quality (though never on sea, Sky did live near the docks; she'd seen tons of ships in her lifetime), but that's about all she knew. Her eyes scanned the horizon, looking for the tell-tale dot that signaled land, but it seemed they'd already gone too far out for it to be seen. With a scowl, she walked to the group, staying on the very edges. Many people announced their appearance, but Sky didn't utter a word; instead she clenched her fists and stared at the ground, trying to swallow past the anger.
Tightly clenching her jaw, Sky slowly lifted her head and swept her gaze over the people around her. She then proceeded to say a few obscenities about them under her breath, but stopped herself before she got out of hand. How would she ever survive here? She couldn't even look at these people without hate in her mind. And she was to do all of the dirty work around here? If only she could scream!
She smiled as Nina arrived and stated, “Nina reporting for duty, ma'am.” Jinx nodded in return and waited for the majority of the crew, save one of the sailors who’d become sick, to arrive.
Once she was sure everyone was present Jinx began to talk, “Now, as you all know we are on a journey for treasure. If you didn’t know that, well you’re a half-wit and I’m not entirely sure how you got onto my ship. “
Jinx stared icily at the crew as she continued, “What you don’t know is location of this treasure, or how I learned of it. Well you see, I have recently come to possess a map.”
Jinx reached into her pocket and pulled out the rolled up map, “ As you all know, maps are illegal in accordance to the councils laws. But then again, so is piracy, and I don’t see that stopping any of you.”
She unfolded the map and displayed it to the crew, “This map shows the route to a great treasure, a crystal of some sort. I must also warn you that beyond treasure this map shows several dangers. These include what appear to be giant metal fish, dragons, lions, and various other obstacles. “
Jinx folded the map up quickly before the crew had time to read some of the more ominous warnings printed on it. She then placed it back in her pocket and said to the crew, “All right that’ll be all.”
She walked up to the navigator, a man by the name of Martin, “I’m going to show you the map so you can copy the route. I trust you’ll be discreet about what it says?”
“Oh? And I thought we'd be here on the most gentle cruise of all times. Relax, maybe pick a few flowers...” Okay, one minus point for trying to prove a point towards the captain. Though Nina couldn't help but act all sarcastic when Jinx exclaimed they were on the hunt for treasure.
Although, any kind of adventure would do for Nina though. Hell, it wouldn't even bother her if the captain decided on going for a 'forest-hiking' contest. As long as it's entertaining, and not boring.
“Excuse my remark, ma'am. I should not have spoken that out loud.” The young rigger stood as stationary as a statue would, her expression swaying between bland serious, and a slightly nervous smile.
That said, it was time to take a quick glance at the supposed map, the captain had found. Once again, that obvious remark. And Nina had to do her best not to say anything sarcastic or blunt.
'Danger...' Nina pondered about what was explained, and what little she could gather from the map before Jinx had folded it once more. “Aye, aye, ma'am. I'll be on the lookout should you need me.” The blonde woman exclaimed, giving her superior another salute before heading into the crow's nest.

Lliyd decided to go into the quarters for a second. He took a bag made out of steel threads, with a weird knot closing it. Of course, only he knew exactly how to open it. Opening it, he shuffled through it untill he found a small piece of gold. A fake gold tooth, shaped to cover one of his real teeth. He carefully put it in his mouth, clipping it onto one of his molars. He held a toothy grin for a little bit, and then it was in place. This was specially made for his pirate disguise, and it sure cost a lot, despite it not being real gold. Lloyd walked back up to the Main Deck.
He casually walked the main deck, with a rediculous grin, as he watched over people. He then looked out at the sea. Large expanse of blue and green, filled with waves, stone, plants, corpses, treasure, and... Fish. Just the glimse of a cod breaking the surface due to the waves made him uneasy. Lloyd was afraid the waves would throw one of those stinky, and unaturally flopping things at him. Looking away from the ocean with a weird look on his face, Lloyd practiced a couple card tricks.

This voyage was a treasure hunt and a dangerous one at that. There seemed to be a large amount of different types of beasts that the crew would run into. Giant metal fish was a type of monster. Nyclora had questions about them. Were they solid metal? Were they sentient? Were they controlled by humans? Lions were among the listed creatures and probably the least interesting. The captain said there would be dragons, too. Nyclora unconciously fingered her throat. She could breathe fire like the dragons of the legend. She had often wondered if there was any connection between her and the flying fiery creatures.
Shaking her head Nyclora snapped out of her reverie. The food and drink stores needed to be checked on and she had to think about the evening meal. She began walking to the place where the food was kept. Once there she examined the supplies and made mental lists of the amounts. Then she walked to the kitchens to see the equipment. To her satisfaction there was already pots and pans along with various utensils cleaned and ready to be used. What should she cook for dinner though? It would have to be enough for the whole crew. A challenge, but Nyclora was sure she could overcome it. She went to the stores again and took out some beef, flour, onions, potatoes and mushrooms. It took a couple trips to carry it all up. Might as use up the fresh stuff while it's still fresh, she thought.
Nyclora began cutting up the beef into strips and then started to cook them. She mixed the juices from the meat with flour and water to make gravy. The onions and mushrooms were sauteed until they were limp and then mixed in with the gravy. She peeled the potatoes and boiled them to make them softer. When that was finished she began to mash them in a large pot. She tossed the cooked meat into the gravy and seasoned it with some salt, pepper, and a little thyme. She let it simmer for a while as she chopped up some chives to put into the potatoes. When the potatoes were ready she stirred both large, cauldron-like pots before going up and announcing dinner was ready.
The surprising remark from the girl who's name he remembered to be Nina (for he had made a point of paying attention to everyone's names as they were read off on boarding the ship) did, however, cause him to raise his brow. Clearly there was a certain spirit - or possibly stupidity - about that girl. What was her role again...a rigger? It was a job that took tenacity, that was for sure. At the same time, he was certain he'd seen her bringing a very interesting firearm onto the ship, and remembered that he'd intended to ask her about it. After all, any technology worth mentioning on the ship might as well be noted...from the initial condition of the ship's own guns he couldn't rule out that using personal weapons might not be a better option in some circumstances. But hopefully he'd be able to clean up the cannons and get them looking a bit more like reliable ordince before long.
He remained standing in his place as some of the others disperesed, and Jinx put the map once again under his gaze. Curiosity could not resist scaning the map for whatever it was that the captain may not wish for the men to have a close enough perusal to see, but in truth what he found were a lot of fairly cryptic messages. The one which did capture his attention was "Knowledge is power". Now that sounded like an interesting endeavour to Martin, though it did not directly intersect the indicated route...which curiously took the long way around Prophets Island...though at the same time it also indicated the reason, "beware what lies below". Martin couldn't help wonder who had made this map, and how Captain Jinx had come into posession of it.
But already he was taking longer than he needed to.
"I can do this captain." he said obligingly, "We'll remain central in the cape to avoid detection from council ships and any shallow waters, and update our heading when we see this western peninsula. For now, your southerly heading seems like the right course."
He nodded finally, "And of course captain. I know what I need and I'll ask no more. Questions are easiest to deflect when one truthfully does not know the answer."

She leaned against a railing, feeling the wind blow in her pretty pointed face. This is what she lived for. She was just drifting into her own little thoughs when a voice anounced that dinner was ready. Sheer pushed herself up, brushed a strand of hair away from her face and grinned at the cook. What was her name? Sheer mentally scolded herself. Forgetting names already? She pinched her cheek hard. There. Maybe that would help her remember.
"Something smells great! I'm Sheer by the way, and you are?" The young 15 year old girl grinned at the cook. Maybe she might even make a friend?

Now is not the time to be thinking such gloomy thoughts, she chided herself. Life was good! Sure, there were some accidents peppered in here and there but it was worth the ride. One always had to remember that.
"Something smells great! I'm Sheer by the way, and you are?" a young girl asked. The girl looked upbeat and cheerful, a good combination in a person as far as Nyclora was concerned. Nyclora felt a small pang of sadness when the girl mentioned the food smelling good. Why couldn't she smell? It frustrated her. Turning her attention back to Sheer she said, "I'm Nyclora. It's nice to meet you, Sheer."

"Michale," Sky replied, after a moments thought. Though she didn't see him as a potential friend, and they didn't get along very well on the streets - maybe on the ship, she could learn to like him. After all, he was the only one that came of a similar background, as far as she knew. And he knew what happened to her family, and how she had changed. He understood. The hell, Sky? Trying to convince yourself you don't hate everyone? He's just another human being, only concerned with himself, and he'll die just like everyone else. Leaving you. The thoughts whispered through her mind, and she turned her steely gaze away from him, then back. "Fancy meeting you here." Was all she managed.

As he approached her with caution, he waited for a moment outside earshot and far enough away that he wouldn't interrupt her business waiting for her to acknowledge him once that was done he would attempt to approach her in a conversation. "Mam rigging is secured is there anything you need from me or am I free to find my way to my quarters for now?" Michale asked cautiously as he stood there moving his hair out of his face before adding "And if i may ask although i might be slightly out of place asking, Whats with the other cabin girl.....Why is she here?"
As he lay there with his feet hooked into the ropes to keep him from falling into the water Alto over heard a small conversation below between the cabin girl and another man. He laughed a little to loudly as the man walked away. "Not the friendliest of people now are we? Though i suppose its to be expected from someone who was practically dragged aboard." He pushed off with his hands swinging himself using his feet as a pivot point and landing upside down with his head about level with the girls. "but while your here you might a as well make the best of it right? If we die so do you." He laughed at the slightly morbid comment but it seemed genuine, more like he actually thought it was a funny comment than a teasing one. He stretched his hand through the mesh towards the girl. "Names Alto, could I have the pleasure of knowing your name madame?" This time his voice was thick with sarcasm, adding a very pompous accent to the comment. Truthfully he already overheard her name was Sky but he preferred if she told it to him herself.

"Not the friendliest of people, now are we? Though I suppose it's to be expected from someone who was practically dragged aboard." Sky spun around once more to see who was speaking. A man, who she had seen below decks not long before, was laying against some type of network of ropes, that rose beside the mast, and resembled a large net. He pushed himself forward, keeping his foot locked between the intersecting ropes, and landed upside down. His face now level with hers, he spoke again. "But while you're here, you might as well make the best of it right? If we die, so do you." Sky clenched her teeth as her hands curled into the familiar shape of fists.
"Names Alto, could I have the pleasure of knowing your name, madame?" Sky looked at the hand he offered, then back at his face.
"What business of yours is it, whether or not I'm 'friendly', or what I make the best of?" Sky replied, her gray eyes assuming their usual intensity and fierceness. "It's none of your damn business at all." With one last glare, she spun on her heels and stalked away, the loose shirt she had on swaying lightly at the force. Her boots met the deck with a thud as she stomped away, though she didn't know where to go. Sky then noticed the pots of food and felt her stomach rumble. Could she eat now? Or was she supposed to eat last, being the cabin girl? "To hell with pirate etiquette." She murmured, running a hand through her auburn hair.

"Nyclora.. What a gorgeous name..." she exclaimed sincerely. She took a seat, her stomach rumbled and she petted it softly. "Now you, hush be a little patient for once!" maybe talkin to herself looked weird to some but she didn't really care. She was the one person she could truly trust after all But Nyclora seemed really nice. Then she glanced at the others. No one but the Cabin girl seemed to realize dinner was ready.
"Oi! Dinners ready people!" she shouted out waving her arms gleefully. There was nothing so refreshing as a hot meal between crew members. Smiling, she waved the Cabin girl over. Damn, she swore silently to herself. What was her name? She pinched her other cheek painfully. Whether it killed her, Sheet was determined to learn the names of everyone on the boat.
"The food looks great," she gave a thumbs up to the older woman. "Now if everyone just got their butts on over here, I could try this beautiful creation you cooked up for us!"

The whole purpose was to let people know 'Kamen Diamonte, Wizard of the Skies, is among you, hiding on the ship. The Sky's Lie shall see danger on the Septette of Seas.' Now that sounded golden. Lloyd was getting excited thinking of the magic tricks and epic lines he'd pull off.
Lloyd put his cards back in his pocket when he had a smell. Immedietly, he set off for the first deck. A smirk was wiped off of Lloyd's face when he walked into the kitchen. "I see dinner is ready, I'll go alert the Captain," Lloyd wasn't planning on eating with the others, because you give so much away of yourself, but you are distracted. He glanced at Sky. She seemed almost Lloyd's true age. He gave a liitle smirk, and as he left the room, he said this; "What if I was French? I should have at least 20 years on this ship, but it seems I only brought 3 less than needed on board with me, shame, well, nobody can tell, right?"
Getting back to the main deck, Lloyd approached Captain Jinx. "Inner-Day is Eady-Ray," he told her, "Or so it is in a language even an English Pig can't understand."

Re: [OOC] Come Hell or High Water
Unless Wild1 is waiting everyone to post their reaction on
EDIT:
Unghh, I feel so demotivated when I've worked fairly hard on a character and the role play dies. Makes me wonder why I even tried in the first place.

Hmmm, perhaps when Jinx was was wandering she hid in the stables at Kamen's house one night. He could have discovered her, but let her go, therefore giving her reason to not only trust, but owe him.
Re: [OOC] Come Hell or High Water
Also, @Wild1, Is there any way Kamen Diamonte and Jinx could know each other? I find it hard to believe for some random famous theif, who has become part of a crew for the first time, become First Mate. Sure he's snuck on to ships for transport, but not actually be a crew member. Maybe Lloyd and Jinx have some sort of back story? Sure Jinx was poor, and Lloyd was partially rich and well educated, but how can they be related in a way so that Kamen Diamonte can be trusted by her?
Re: [OOC] Come Hell or High Water
The flag: Jinx sails a pirate flag. On her flag is a skull in white with dragons wings.
The crows nest: Perched among the sails is the crows nest. Those who are very heavy or afraid of heights should not attempt to climb up to it.
The top of the bridge: You can reach the top of the bridge by climbing up the steps leading to it from the main deck. It is here that you will find a desk set out for the navigator as well as the steering wheel of the ship.
The main deck: self explanatory
Inside the bridge: Inside the bridge you will find the captains quarters. The captains quarters includes a desk, a locked cabinet for treasure (and a certain map), a weapons case, a clothing trunk, and a bed. While more comfortable than the rest of the crews quarters this pirate boat is not so rich that the captains quarters are lavishly decorated.
First level below deck: If you open the door adjacent to the one that leads into the captains quarters you will find steps leading down to the first below deck level. The first room you enter is a large room filled with hammocks and trunks. This is the crew's quarters. If you go to the end of that room you will find yourself in a hallway with two doors to the left and right. On the right is the kitchen, domain of the cook. On the left is storage. This is where treasure that is not designated to specific persons is found along with weapons, gunpowder, food, ropes, and extra sails.
Second level below deck: If when you reach the first level below deck you continue down you will find yourself on the second level below deck. The first room you enter is the room which contains the giant motor that powers the ship. If you continue past that room you will find a hallway containing several prisoner cells.

*Glares at Nina's history* Okay cool, I believe I covered all the basics, explained the skills. Family, environment she grew up in.
*Browses through the characters and reads the ones who have a history* *Glares back at Nina's history* Mother of- I should stop writing endlessly long histories. (xD)
@Reianna:
I second that with Nina. Although I wager Lloyd has read my reply, and is wary of possible 'forced' plank walking should Kamen ever try to annoy her. First Mate or not. (>:D)
I think she wouldn't get on well with anyone, except for maybe Jinx, 'cause she's the captain. And probably anyone who can keep their problems, nuisances, and oddities to themselves.
