"It's like they're shooting fish in a barrel....does that seem fair to you? Oh...you want to try it out on me? Go right ahead~"

Description

Shreya Nila

Image
Nickname:
Previously: Devil's Advocate
Currently: Bronze Fox

Age:
19

Gender:
Female

Appearance:

Shreya is quite tall for a female avatar, coming in at 5 feet 9 1/2 inches tall (and for some reason she never lets anyone forget about the half part). She weighs 145 pounds and her body is well proportioned, showing the amount of attention her player put into her. Her figure as it stands at the moment is slightly more on the willowy side, preferring to have only slight curves as a larger bust usually equals a poor shot.

Shreya's hair is long and brown-black in hue, often caught up into a high ponytail or even a braid if she has time. If she is in a rush she will just leave it out, I mean, who would stop to do their hair whilst being chased by enemies right? Her eyes are a pleasant lilac with silver flecks radiating out from the pupils, however if you are game enough to get close, you'll see that she has a pale brown dot in the iris of her left eye only. Her skin is a pale ivory and she rarely blushes. With gently curved lips and a slightly up turned nose, she could occasionally turn a man's eye.

It appears that she can be spotted on most occasions wearing two or three layers, even if it is a warm spring day. Her first layer consists of a black dress, the next layer is a cinched reversible overcoat and usually her last layer is a long sleeved mini jacket with silvery ribbon motifs around the collar and the sleeves. She also wears thigh high boots that have the same ribbon detailing as the jacket, going down towards the toes in an intertwining pattern. Shreya often carries at least 2 weapons with her at all times as well as assorted potions.
Her wings usually aren’t on display because Shreya fears that she will be automatically targeted by demonic players if they spotted them. Only in certain battle moves do her wings show up, the feathers are a silvery-white, like the colour of crushed pearls. The wings themselves are quite large, she has a wingspan of at least 7 feet, enabling her to fly and escape from battle if she actually used her wings more often.

Kaoru Shimizu

Image
Nickname:
Kao or if you're incredibly daring... Ru-ru

Age:
17

Gender:
Female

Appearance:
Compared to her avatar, Kaoru is alarmingly slight looking, weighing in at 120 pounds and 5 foot 7 inches tall. She has short, unkempt looking mid-grey hair and no...she didn't dye it that colour. She has a side fringe and her hair has started to grow again, now that she can't log out of the game to go to the hair dressers and get it cut. Her eyes are one of many shades of hazel-brown and can sometimes appear to be pretty. Her skin is a pale cream and she likes it that way as if she exposes herself to more sun than necessary she gets severe sunburn.

She has a frame in between slight and medium, her high metabolism somehow keeping her weight up just enough so that she has some noticeable curves....if she isn't hiding them with bulky clothes. The majority of her wardrobe is filled with darker colours as she prefers the way they look and although she has no set 'style' of clothing that she sticks to the most, she picks what works for her. Though she is never without the black cuffs that she ripped off one of her brother's old long sleeved shirts when she was 12, she will wear them even if others think she looks ridiculous with them shifting about independently on her wrists.

Personality
Kaoru is a surprisingly noisy young woman, she was always the first to arrive in her class at school and almost certainly the most helpful person on the school grounds. All you had to do was scream out her name and by some creepy yet adorably humorous way, she'd come and find you. However now that she has been trapped in Babylon for 10 months she has become increasingly selective about whom she helps, especially if her brother didn't like the vibes that the other individual was giving off. Though she still makes herself heard on a regular enough basis, she prefers to keep her head down and her true opinions to herself.

She loves to create things, which is why the walls of her room are littered with drawings, photos and sheets of hastily scribbled (most often half finished) musical scores. Her smile was the best thing about her, it used to bubble up so readily from beneath the surface. She survives by avenging those whom cannot avenge themselves and teaching weaker allied players protective spells. Both she and her brother made a point not to affiliate themselves with guilds and in game she usually creates bonds by making contracts first. If that fails, she will retreat. If she feels threatened she will try and evade, preferring to fight another day than to die because she fought against a more powerful opponent.

She knows that eventually someone will come for her, she's killed to defend herself and numerous others. She would expect nothing less...but those who come should remember her appetite for playing around a little. After all, in the game of your life you could always still try and have fun right? It's not like it became homework or something.

Background

In the months before her brother's birthday he mentioned time and time again that he would love to own Conquest of Babylon. Being the attentive younger sibling that she was, she got a part time job after school after looking up how much the game would cost. Kaoru had never really been able to keep a secret from her brother, but Yuuta had just assumed that his crazily talkative younger sister had gotten a boyfriend. After what seemed like an endless amount of week ends where she was paid double time, festivals that she missed and friends that walked away...she finally had enough money to get the game for him. She'd been ecstatic about it, going online to see if there were any sites that were still pre-ordering the game and she thanked goodness that there were.

On the day after the game was released, two packages came to their door. One addressed to her brother, the second to her.
"Ru-ru its here! Look, look! I pre-ordered it once I bugged mum and dad into getting it, isn't this so cool?!?!" He said to her, eyes all aglitter and she couldn't bring herself to offer him the copy that she'd worked to get for him. She remembered clutching the package behind her as she smiled and shared his joy. He then spun her around and grab the package, the paper tearing and revealing what was within.

"What's this huh? Kaoru....I didn't know you were interested in CoB, we can play together! How did you get mum and dad to fund yours tho-..." He then put two and two together, giving her a big hug before spinning her around.
"You got this for me didn't you...sneaky little fox!" He laughed and tousled her hair, looking at the two game copies before he gave her the one he'd bought. "Now I have your gift...and you have mine." She smiled and then for the next 3 weeks they played well together, working in unison with or without Yuuta's friends in their team.

She became known for evening out her brother's zeal, often telling him to think things through before charging head first into a situation. Despite this her brother somehow managed to step on someone's toes, needing her to mediate between both sides. This earned her the nickname Devil's Advocate as she could see where both sides were coming from, and more often than not they parted on well enough terms.

However that day in the arena everything changed, two of Yuuta's friends testing Ramasama's words...killing each other thinking that they would respawn. Unfortunately they didn't, panic and bloodshed soon ensued and the siblings decided against staying too long in the arena. As Yuuta and Kaoru battled their way out of the arena, one by one their friends stayed behind to fend off attackers until finally it was just Yuuta and Kaoru at the exit. They only had a moment to look back on the horrible scene, bodies scattered everywhere, players falling so quickly that the NPC's weren't able to remove them fast enough.

In the 8 months and 3 weeks since, she'd changed classes; from human to angel. They created a base in an abandoned mill, going out on dungeon raids when they needed more potions or gold. However their last raid went horribly wrong, a group of humans ambushing them after they left the dungeon...obviously they hadn't wanted to chance going in and dying, so they'd left it to someone else and laid in wait. She'd tried so hard to shield Yuuta, supporting him all she could but there had been too many of them. He got seriously wounded and Kaoru had just enough mana to teleport them back to their base.

On Sunday...he was getting better...it was taking such a long time though, and he barely smiled. Kaoru made several barriers at the cost of a fair few mana potions. On Monday he took a turn for the worse, trying to tell her jokes and keep her spirits up. Tuesday Yuuta slipped into a coma. Wednesday he started turning cold. Thursday he was barely breathing and wouldn't get better, no matter how many health potions she dripped into his mouth. Friday he woke up, only to tell her that he loved her and that she shouldn't hate the people who killed him. She tried to argue, calling him names as she begged him to stay with her. She was so scared....so scared. Where would he go? Would he be safe and sound? Would their mother know? Would they bury him?

Saturday was the worst, she had to renew the barriers, whispering a warning to trespassers in case they pushed through. When she returned he was watching her, his face so grey....she took his hand and he told her that she'd survive. He'd be watching over her, trying to keep her safe. All the usual dramatically soppy stuff that had her sobbing and screaming at him not to leave her here, clutching at his chainmail so hard that it sliced her fingers to ribbons. Just before an NPC came to take him away, he gave her a mask. The NPC however was greeted with a hostile and offensively skilled angel, the system deciding against taking the body from the devastated girl just yet. Kaoru learned that the mask was their reward for the dungeon raid, it was the Mask of the Wise.

Equipment

Mask of the Wise

A mask which depicts the face of a fox. It is mainly white with russet, orange and black designs. It is a rare item that surprisingly can only be used by an angel, there are two other masks similar to it: the Mask of the Fallen and the Mask of the Just. The other two masks can be used by either of the other two races. The Mask of the Wise protects the wearer from minor curses and tracking spells, allows for stronger barriers and increases stealth points. 15% increased Magical defence while equipped, 15% Mana increase and 8 stealth points.

Note at times the mask, for some unknown reason glitches and shows Kaoru's real face to other players for only a few seconds. As of yet she has no idea how to rectify that.

Quickstep Boots

Thigh high boots with silver ribbon detailing, 5% increased armour 15% increase speed and 4 stealth points. Classed as light armour.

Quickstep Coat

A black jacket with silver ribbon detailing, the body of the jacket stops just under the bust-line and the detailing is on the collar and sleeves. Classed as light armour, 5% increased armour 5% increased speed and 2 stealth points.

Blood Angel Tunic

A long sleeveless tunic which is black on the outside and has a red inner lining. 10% increased armour and 10% increased attack damage. Classed as medium armour.

Belt of Fortitude

Red and black leather belt with iron fastenings. 5% increased armour. Classed as light armour.

Angel's Lace

Black dress which goes 1/2 way down the thighs, can also be found in white. Made from a small piece of heaven's clouds, can be dyed black. Classed as medium armour. 10% increased magical defence, 10% increased mana, 10% increased magical attack.

Lady Luck

A long sword which was supposedly blessed by one of the archangels, made of steel with a silver filigree hilt. Reasonably uncommon weapon, increased attack speed and damage.

Cupid's Bow

Japanese style bow, multicoloured arrows. She named it Cupid's bow as a little ironic joke, because it looks nothing like the traditional image people think of when they hear the name.

Cat's Paw Gloves

Black gloves with armour on the back of the hand and down the fingers, allow for increased grip when climbing, increased speed and stealth.

Blessed Souls’ Shield

A steel kite shield with purified soul gems embedded beneath the steel outer layer. Twisting the grip under the shield’s boss in the centre will cause sharp spikes to come up along the outer border and around the boss in the middle. Medium class armour.

Assorted health and mana potions.

Magic Abilities

Angel's Kiss

Healing spell, regenerates 20 points of health every 1.5 seconds. Mana cost: 20

Cleansing Shriek

It is a spell that takes the form of a 'sound wave' and repels enemy players in a complete 360 degrees around Shreya. It deals slight magical damage if the player is within 3 feet of Shreya's position. At lower mana usage it slows enemies down for 1.5/2/3 seconds, at higher mana usage it stuns enemies for up to 4 seconds.
“Give me space!” – 3 word chant

Knock 'em Down

A spell where Shreya plunges Lady Luck into the ground before pulling the sword back out, causing what appears to be an earthquake to emanate from where the sword was pulled out. It deals physical and magical damage but costs quite a bit of mana to perform.
“Hope you’re readyâ€Ļhere comes the boom!” – 7 word chant

Teleport

This is a spell where Shreya removes herself and her party from a battle if she feels that they can no longer continue without loss of life. Mana cost varies on how many players and how far she can take them. Her limit for teleportation is 5 players (including her); distance limit is not yet known.

Purifying Arrow

A spell that infuses her arrows with purifying fire, which burns demonic players if they are hit. It deals mainly magical damage. Costs 20/40/80/120 mana
“Burn baby burn!” – 3 word chant

Quicksilver

Increases Shreya’s speed for 1.5/2/3 seconds and also boosts her stealth. Costs 20/40/80 mana
No chant needed

Saving Grace

Only becomes able to be activated when Shreya is below 45% health the spell itself lasts for 45 seconds and allows combos within that time limit. The spell itself regenerates health of her and her allies and then in turn poisons enemies for up to 2/3/4 seconds. High mana drain, rarely ever used.
“Hell hath no fury like an injured angel.” – 8 word chant

Skills

Fortune’s Wheel

Where Shreya spins in a 360 degree circle for up to 4 seconds with Lady Luck drawn, stunning the enemy each hit and therefore allowing for stacks. Total stacks allowed 10, with attack damage going up by 5 each time.

Battle Blitz

Shreya (if Cupid’s Bow is equipped) will launch up to 3 volleys at an enemy target, slowing them and dealing both magical and physical attack damage. If Shreya has Lady Luck equipped, she will rush forward and strike the enemy rapidly before flying backwards to her original placement on the battlefield.

Wiseman’s Waltz

A move that allows Shreya to get a little closer to her opponent, striking where she can to do as much damage as possible. The skill ends after 3 seconds and she then jumps back out of the way with a final strike from Lady Luck.

Fencer’s Focus

Shreya is able to detect weaknesses in her enemy’s armour and attempts to strike it. Can lead to minor or major damage depending on where she hits, can become a combo attack with Wiseman’s Waltz activated at the same time.

Foxtrot

A retreating move, allows Shreya to dodge attacks and teleport out of the area to a safe place she knows. It also stuns the surrounding enemies for up to 3 seconds, the teleportation can be completed in 2.5 seconds at the slowest.

More could be added if she learns others at a later date.

Passives/Techniques

High flyer

Passive, increases attack speed and defence against physical attack.

Dark Magic Weakness

As she is an angel, Shreya is weak against attacks from the creatures of darkness.

Light Magic Resistance

Shreya is a creature of light, making her a little more resistant to magical attacks from her own kind.

Mask of the Wise

Passives and such that are attributed to the mask are found below.

Owl Eyes

Passive and a buff, increases vision (both distance and her ability to see things in the dark). Also allows Shreya to see if she is being followed, i.e. if someone is trying to attach/use tracking spells or abilities on her. Attributed to the Mask of the Wise.

No Trail, No Tail

Passive, makes Shreya leave an extremely faint trail; only high level players would be able to track her at the best of times.

Sweet Tooth

Passive, when she eats or drinks something sweet, she gets slightly faster health regeneration.

It was a wonderful day, or at least for all appearances sake it was. The lone individual moving smoothly through the sun soaked surrounds, the being went unnoticed unless one was paying enough attention. A few birds twittered sweet nothings into slightly pointed ears from the relative safety of their homes as she slid past. The femme was in no mood to be slowed down today, her barriers needed more mana from her and she was running low on mana potions. Lilac eyes slid around in their sockets as they searched for stealthed players and wards, though she was in a slight hurry she was not stupid. No....she couldn't afford to be stupid or defenceless, she didn't have her bro-...alright that was it, no more thinking of him till she had returned to the mill.

She shuddered slightly at the thought of returning to the mill, but she had no choice. Get out...then get back. Out then back. She tossed up for a moment whether or not to just waltz into the little neutral town via the front gate. At this train of thought she reached up to brush her fingers against her-...no, oh she'd forgotten that she'd had the mask on. The tips of her pale fingers brushed against painted porcelain, a sensation rising from her chest as she almost missed the feeling of her warm skin. Her throat worked before she took to the left in a sudden sharp turn, going from patches of sunlight to dappled coolness as the trees welcomed her willowy form as she stepped among them.

The town wall was not far from her position, but if she were to vault over it too close to the main gate it would cause a lot more trouble than if she did it behind the pub. Y'see she may have accidentally punched a town guard, mistaking him for an enemy. In her defence it had been an incredibly dark alley, but nooooo....he'd wanted to cart her ass to the gaol. So she'd gone for the oldest trick in the book, she ran. Either way, that very same guard was watching everyone coming through the front gates like a hawk. She was an angel yes, but that doesn't mean that she was completely repentant for that. I mean, who comes up behind someone like a creeper then grabs their arm?

She shook her head and once again focused on getting to where she needed to go. The young woman hopped lightly over a bubbling brook and then found herself facing a clearing around the wall, drainage ditch included. Huh....well, nothing ventured nothing gained. Shreya almost laughed as her body went down into a sprinter's starting position. Never gets old then....inserting parts of an old life into the new one. Her boots gripped the grass and then she launched forward, skidding slightly as she braced herself before leaping over the drainage ditch. Her hands pressed against the stone and mortar before she spread them out and then scuttled up the wall. She was in and out in 6 minutes flat after negotiating with one of her NPC potion sellers.

"Well now...back to the mill I go." She murmured to herself, moving on auto pilot as she did every evasive trick in the book just in case anyone was following her. See...there were rumours brewing about a fallen demon's treasure nearby and if she had any guesses she knew who had started the rumours. But she'd promised not to harm them, she had not however....promised that she wouldn't strike down any who came to seek monetary gain. She drank at least two mana potions as she made her way back inside the mill, whispering messages into her almost transparent barriers. They had different colours that changed according to their strength. Blue being the weakest and silvery-pearl being the strongest. As she passed through her final barrier she looked over at a figure lying down on its back, completely motionless.

"I'm home brother...I'll let the NPC take you if they are strong enough to come through all five barriers, I promise. Tell...tell mum that I'm sorry, that I did what I could....okay?" She said gently, looking at the bags of treasure that they'd amassed here...they only had three left now, not much of a 'treasure' any more. Dust motes spun lazily in the shafts of sunlight that came into the dim room from the boarded up windows. The femme wondered what she would do after her brother was taken from here.....would she leave? Or stay?

Shreya went and sat down on her pallet to ponder this further, the scratchy steel grey woollen blanket warming her behind. She sighed lightly as she reached up to undo the ribbon that held the mask to her face. She thought about the possible future for a good amount of time. After a while however, she stirred at a shattering sound, mana flowing back to her in a rush....the first barrier had been broken. She twitched minutely and then grasped the fox mask in her hand, heart jumping like a jack rabbit. Whether in excitement or anxiety she could not tell, but it was not the time to think about that at the moment. Now was the time to wonder....who was coming to see the fallen demon and the bronze fox?

It had taken over an hour for Shreya to let her brother's body go, a high level NPC finally breaking through her barriers in an effort to retrieve him. However when she checked the surrounding area map she discovered a congregation of guild members in one of the nearby lower level village. Now that....was unusual to say the least, unless they were gathering to do some sort of quest nearby. But the young woman highly doubted that the Saint's Order were coming out of the wood work unless they were doing something that they deemed important.

When she noticed a red dot enter and then engage one of the purple guild member dots after a few moments and she frowned a little before curiosity began to niggle at her. She bit her lower lip, contemplating her options before sighing and leaving all unnecessary items underneath her sleeping pallet. She grabbed Lady Luck and slid the sword into its sheath on her right hip, slinging her bow and quiver onto her back, her last piece of necessary equipment was the Mask of the Wise. She looked down at the shiny markings on the fox mask for a moment before she tied the ribbons back in place, pulling her dark hair up into a ponytail around the ribbons, hiding them.

This all done, Shreya walked out of the mill, placing various traps about the place as she did so. She stood in the shadow of the white washed building before crouching and concentrating hard on that village where it seemed that something was afoot. In a burst of blue-white she was gone, magic glittering in the air for a moment before going away. The young woman found herself in a much more volatile situation than she had first thought, shimmering into being just behind two kneeling angels. Without a second thought she touched their injuries gently, using Angel's Kiss to heal them.

She turned her head at the sound of a hollow thunk, metal sinking into wood as an angel attacked a weaker level demon. The demon was defending weakly....obviously wounded and the angel was spouting off in a creepy voice.
"No hard feelings Haruo. I was just stronger, and you weaker. But don't worry... you'll be the light to guide them all to a new order." As the angel raised his weapon she took in a breath.
"MAY THIS PROTECT!" She yelled, throwing up her hand and a silvery bubble flew from both of her hands, one going to land on the ground before the demon, the other enveloping the two slightly injured angels. That was the strongest barrier she had...now was a good time to prove that guilds weren't all that they were cracked up to be.

It was a dangerous game she was about to play, a game of bluffs and occasional attacks. The angel it seemed, hadn't really taken notice of the young woman behind him...until this point. Onlookers were murmuring to each other, elbowing others and continuing in the twisted game of Chinese Whispers.
"It's her.....The Bronze Fox.....but why would she defend a demon?" Cold murderous eyes bored into hers and she tilted her head slightly to the side, her main option was to think on her feet now.
"Don't you think it's a little disturbing that angels are attacking others just to make an example of them? It's like bobbing for apples on Halloween but getting a mouthful of worms instead." She said calmly, unsheathing her sword and holding it in front of her.

"Y-...take down the barriers this instant or I'll kill you for defying the Saint's Order!!" The angel snarled at her and she twitched subtly as his goons spread themselves out.
"Call off the dogs otherwise I'll put them down and you'll be left with no back up." She said smoothly and she sensed the guild members move back of their own accord. So they'd checked up on her huh.....darn.
"What right have you to tell me what to do?!" He advanced towards her threateningly and she stepped toward him.

"I have the right to advise you against your current course of action, I have said right because I chose not to live under oppression or fear." She returned in a heartbeat, only for him to strike at her with his blade. The femme brought Lady Luck up in a flash of silver, the distinct clash of metal against metal ringing out in the village square. The tall girl stared into his eyes for a moment before shoving back against him to test exactly how much give she would get. Not much it seemed as she hopped back lightly, meeting his head on charge again and again before....for a moment she had a reprieve, throwing a health potion through the demon's barrier.
"Hey Circle....don't lose faith 'kay? I gotcha covered." Shreya said encouragingly without taking her eyes from her target, knowing that the poor demon was feeling pretty despondent right now.

"It seems....that we are evenly matched, though I never did catch your real name..?" She pointed out when she once again found herself hilt to hilt with the angry guild angel. "We're going to be at a stalemate for a while I think, if we keep fighting. How about...you give me the demon and the two injured parties and we leave it at that. Let the demon get stronger, so you can actually have some honour in beating him when he is at your level....rather than annihilating him now and not saving face." She proposed, blinking those strange lilac eyes for a second before listening to the crowd around the square. For a moment Kaoru wondered if she would have gotten this notorious if she'd gotten into scraps in the real world rather than the virtual one. But this was a very scary situation to be not paying attention in...even if it was for such a brief second, so she refocused her gaze on her opponent's with nothing short of sheer determination. Surely his pride would win out and he'd realise that there was more merit in defeating the demon at a later time. Hopefully? Maybe?

Haruo laid on his back, expecting to die any moment until he heard a female voice.

"MAY THIS PROTECT!" He heard her say and a barrier formed between him and Tano's blade, effectively stopping it from reaching Haruo.

"It's her.....The Bronze Fox.....but why would she defend a demon?" Haruo could hear the hostility in their voices and he struggled to prop himself up on his arms to look at his savior. It was an Angel.

"Don't you think it's a little disturbing that angels are attacking others just to make an example of them? It's like bobbing for apples on Halloween but getting a mouthful of worms instead." She said calmly, unsheathing her sword and holding it in front of her.

"Y-...take down the barriers this instant or I'll kill you for defying the Saint's Order!!" Tano snarled at her and she twitched subtly as his goons spread themselves out.
"Call off the dogs otherwise I'll put them down and you'll be left with no back up." She said smoothly and the guild members move back of their own accord.

The femme brought her sword up in a flash of silver, the distinct clash of metal against metal ringing out in the village square. The tall girl stared into his eyes for a moment before shoving back against him, then meeted his head on charge again and again before....for a moment she had a reprieve, throwing a health potion through the demon's barrier.

"Hey Circle....don't lose faith 'kay? I gotcha covered." Shreya said encouragingly without taking her eyes from her target.

Haruo caught the potion and nodded slowly even though she couldn't see him.

Let the demon get stronger, so you can actually have some honour in beating him when he is at your level....rather than annihilating him now and not saving face." She proposed.

Haruo popped the lid and downed the potion, waiting for his health to rise back up. He knew full well how Tano was going to handle being 'evenly matched'... he wasn't going to accept a 'stalemate'.

As expected, Tano struck lightning fast, but this time, metal and ancient wood clashed against each other as a rejuvenated Haruo stood against Tano yet again.

"That's enough Tano!" Tano's eyes widened at the tone that Haruo was using. That tone that he used to use back then when Tano had gone too far.

"Tsk... stop thinking you can order me around Haruo. I'm not afraid of you anymore!"

Tano stepped back from their clash, causing Haruo to fall forward as he lost his balance. With Haruo's balance broken, Tano struck advantageously at his exposed neck.

"Don't make me do this Tano."

"DIE!"

In reply, Tano was shoved aside by a large wing before he could complete his attack. As he fell to his back for the first time in this fight, the square erupted with gasps. A little stunned, Tano looked up to see Haruo floating with his feet slightly off the ground, with a pair of black feathery wings that looked like they were dying, dark feathers strewn all over the place. The wings folded themselves inside Haruo and disappeared, causing Haruo to drop down on his feet and look at Tano.

"BASTAAAAAAAAAAARD! MAKING ME LOOK LIKE A FOOL!"

As metal and wood met again in a deadlock, Tano and Haruo struggled for dominance, Tano growling in anger and dissatisfaction as he failed to overpower Haruo, Haruo grunting and gritting his teeth as he fought to maintain the deadlock. It seemed that Haruo was beginning to lose his footing, he glanced at his savior and rocked his head side to side, telling her not to assist. He turned his attention to Tano again.

"Remember when I said that this 'petty sword' was called the 「Black Accommodo」? Here's the thing-" Haruo smiled at Tano. In response, the wooden sword seemed to darken in shade, turning it into the color of black wood.

"-the stronger the opponent's weapon, the stronger it becomes! It's the ideal weapon for PvP fights!"

In that instant, Haruo weaved backwards as if to force Tano to lose balance, but then moved to the right, then forward. It was almost as if Haruo was doing the hula-hoop. But this was not the case, this wasn't an active skill either... it was a style of combat. A style of combat that Haruo used when he was the 'Angel of Death'. A combat style that all players had learned to associate with the 'Angel of Death', and termed 'Angel of Death's Disarming' by those who admired it and those who feared it.

It was a split second too late for Tano as he finally realized what he was caught in. This time, as Haruo weaved to the side, he flicked his blade, bringing Tano's attacking arm forward, causing him to move out of balance. In a flurry of movement, Haruo slashed, cut, diced, minced Tano's attacking arm, causing polygons to erupt everywhere and Haruo's combo meter to fill up like mad. To finish with a flourish, Haruo swept Tano off his feet and sent his flying towards his subordinates. In that instant, the square stood in stunned silence as they contemplated what they saw, whispering amongst each other.

"W-was that... 'Angel of Death's Disarming'?"

Tano cradled his injured arm in pain while his sword fell onto the ground near Haruo's feet. Picking it up, Haruo approached his fallen opponent. Quickly, the members of the Saint's Order stood between him and Tano, some surrounded him. Regarding them cautiously, he tossed the sword to the ground near Tano and sheathed his own weapon before raising his hands up.

"I'm clean boys." he told them, then to Tano. "You're lucky you're stronger than I am, even with 「Black Accommodo」, that's all I could do to you."

Haruo pointed at Tano's health, which Tano glanced at. Nothing really changed that much at all.

"You know what would've happened if I was any stronger, don't you?" he asked, the matter-of-fact tone evident in his voice.

"Tsk..." Tano signaled to his subordinates, some which helped him up. With the help of the members, Tano took his sword back and sheathed it, although he continued to cradle his arm. Slowly, he and his assistants backed away.

"I know... that's why I can't let someone as strong as you walk free outside our guild." Tano explained slowly as he looked at Haruo. The remaining members of the Saint's Order that did not accompany Tano began to circle around Haruo. Haruo looked around him warily. "You should've let me kill you, for being old friends' sake, Haruo."

As Tano slowly backed away, he laughed rather hysterically and turned back to give Haruo one last crazed look before he teleported.

"Have fun, friend."

That was it before they disappeared in a flash of light, leaving Haruo to deal with the other Saint's Order members. As they drew their weapons, he glanced at his savior.

"...I need your help again. You down?" he asked, drawing 「Black Accommodo」 from it's sheath again and readied himself for combat.

Apparently this guild angel didn't like being evenly matched with a girl...? She she narrowed her eyes slightly as she saw the flash of his sword and she expected a blow. But none came because of that familiar sound of wood against metal, the demon had come back into the fray.
"That's enough Tano!" She wisely ducked out of the way as the two young men decided to have another scrap after exchanging a few words.
"Tsk... stop thinking you can order me around Haruo. I'm not afraid of you anymore!" Shreya almost winced as 'Tano' stepped back and then went for Haruo's neck.

"Don't make me do this Tano."
"DIE!"
The resulting reaction from the angel made Shreya think that there were a few screws loose in his head. Though she was still a little perplexed at the gasps in the square....what, was this angel that high up in the guild that everyone thought he was untouchable? Honestly....the foolishness that could come of believing the mythology surrounding some players.
"BASTAAAAAAAAAAARD! MAKING ME LOOK LIKE A FOOL!" Ohhh she was so very tempted to point out that the angel had started this whole hullabaloo but no....that would be silly, better to keep her mouth closed than have her tongue cut out.

The two males had deadlocked again, struggling for dominance as the de-Haruo looked over at her and shook his head. No interfering....gotcha. Shreya then covertly looked through her inventory and grabbed out a teleporting scroll. She scuttled over to the barrier with the angels still in it, passing the item to them by pretending to stumble for a second.
"I'm assuming that you guys don't have a teleporting spell of your own yet. Hold onto each other when you use it and be good to each other, okay?" She murmured gently, listening to their whispered thanks before one of them managed to bite onto the other's clothing and they then used the scroll. The only reason that they were able to do it was because the scroll itself hand an anti-binding clause on it...funny how the world works right? She then dissipated the barriers and reabsorbed the mana they'd cost her.

"Remember when I said that this 'petty sword' was called the 「Black Accommodo」? Here's the thing-" Haruo smiled at Tano and the girl watched as the wooden sword seemed to darken in shade until it was black wood."-the stronger the opponent's weapon, the stronger it becomes! It's the ideal weapon for PvP fights!" Confusion made her tilt her head to the side slightly as Haruo did a complicated- ohh.....it was a combo move. One that she remembered trying to replicate the footwork for jokingly when the game had still been 'safe', her brother laughing as she fell into the mud on the side of the road. Shreya's skin crawled as she watched Haruo practically make mincemeat out of Tano's attacking arm before he sent him flying back to his subordinates.

"W-was that... 'Angel of Death's Disarming'?" The murmurs filling her ears again as everything else happened a bit quicker than she expected. Hmm....maybe the Saint's Order wasn't all it was cracked up to be....but you gotta admit, they weren't stupid. They were protecting their unit's leader and surrounding Haruo at the same time.
"I'm clean boys." Then the demon male spoke to Tano. "You're lucky you're stronger than I am, even with 「Black Accommodo」, that's all I could do to you."

Shrey tuned out some of the conversation, deeming it none of her business. She opted for watching as Tano signalled to his lackeys, some of whom helped him up. With their help, Tano took his sword back and sheathed it despite still cradling his arm. Slowly, he and his assistants backed away.

I know... that's why I can't let someone as strong as you walk free outside our guild." Tano explained slowly as he looked at Haruo. The remaining members of the Saint's Order that did not accompany Tano began to circle around Haruo. Haruo looked around warily and Shreya sighed a little...what a mess they were in. "You should've let me kill you, for being old friends' sake, Haruo." As Tano slowly backed away, he laughed rather hysterically and turned back to give Haruo a look that let his mental status as obvious as a Made in Australia sticker on the bottom of a kangaroo plushie before he teleported.

That was it before they disappeared in a flash of light, leaving the two unlikely allies to deal with the other Saint's Order members. As they drew their weapons, he glanced at her and she inwardly groaned. No chance of getting out of here without bloodshed then huh?
"...I need your help again. You down?" He asked, drawing 「Black Accommodo」 from it's sheath again and readied himself for combat.
"You're not just going to let me teleport his ass out of here are you? Alright, alright....I get it, you're meant to murder us and then report back to your master. Haruo...if you want my help you'll have to accept my party invite or my spells will hurt you instead of the dogs." She said the first parts to the Saint's Order, the last to Haruo as she sent him a party invite.

"I'll help you because you're a demon, if you were human I would have left you here. Humans are in my black books at the moment." She said, her voice sounding just a little hollow because of the mask as she did a little slide between two Order members. She ducked as they went to strike her, only to slice into their ally. She tutted at them like she would at a puppy's antics, moving to protect Haruo's rear. "So why the change from angel to demon?" She asked almost casually before deflecting a hasty attacker, the edge of her sword slicing into the foolish angel's fingers as his hilt failed him. She kicked him away, leaning against the demon for support at the briefest of moments before bouncing forward to begin her attacks.

"You're not just going to let me teleport his ass out of here are you? Alright, alright....I get it, you're meant to murder us and then report back to your master. Haruo...if you want my help you'll have to accept my party invite or my spells will hurt you instead of the dogs."

<< Shreya Nila >> has invited you to join a party. (Accept)?

He pressed the (Accept) option and quickly retracted his arm, nearly getting his finger chopped off when one of the Saint's Order members slashed at him. Off the corner of his eye, he saw the fox-masked player moving into action.

As one of the enemies moved towards him, he retaliated with 「Black Accommodo」, giving both of the player's knees a good rap causing the player to collapse into a roll. Haruo observed the others and readied his sword.

"I'll help you because you're a demon, if you were human I would have left you here. Humans are in my black books at the moment." He heard the girl speak in a hollow voice.

"Ah... sounds interesting, no doubt. Perhaps we can talk about it after we get rid of our problem?" He replied with genuine interest as he fended off another attacker. They met blow for blow, a higher leveled fighter against a lower one, yet Haruo was able to stand his ground, using his previous experience to assist him in battle. He could hear his partner fighting, although he could not see it. As he flicked his sword with expertise to send one of the fighters off balance and blocked the next attack.

"So why the change from angel to demon?"

He heard one of the Saint's Order being kicked then felt someone leaning against him for a short moment before it left him.

"Well, you see. Healing, barriers, support, bows. All nice things, yes. But-" Haruo shoved one of the Saint's Order members backward. "-as you can see, that didn't fit me at all."

"But that's not really the point. It's the second reason. The Saint's Order." Suddenly, Haruo's eyes seem to look threatening as his posture changed while he looked at the Saint's Order members.

Darkest Flight skill activated flashed on Haruo's optics.

"They are everything an Angel isn't." Haruo's dying black wings spread and he began to float up, a dark energy forming around his sword and body. "They hunt others of their own kind down, and give them no choice but to join them in order to live. Angels with wings should not be held down. We are free. We have our own choices to make!"

A battle roar erupted from his lips as he charged at anyone within his AoE range, darkness and polygons spreading around like wildfire as he struck with 「Black Accommodo」.

"If the Saint's Order is a corrupt light, I became a Demon to strike them down with just darkness!"

As he finished, several members were down, either on their knees or their backs as they stared at the Demon before them. He floated down slowly, his wings folding into him and the darkness fading. Dropping to his feet, he pointed his blade at the nearest member and walked towards him.

"Unlike you guys, I don't kill so I will let you leave." Haruo told them before sheathing his sword. "But if you do not heed this warning, I will kill you."

"Go back to where you came from and tell Tano that I will be waiting for our next meeting." He told them in that deadly, quiet tone that they feared. "And when we do... warn him that he will be facing the wrath of a fallen angel."

He looked towards his teammate, "Is it safe to assume that I can leave those to you?"

As one of the members behind him recovered and charged him, he managed a quickdraw and deflected the guy away, sending the man sprawling into the ground.

"Oh... and don't kill them... if you can help it." he added.

"Ah... sounds interesting, no doubt. Perhaps we can talk about it after we get rid of our problem?" Her ally replied with what sounded like genuine interest as he fended off another attacker.
"Oh no, quite a sorry tale....I'm likely to turn into a crying damsel in distress when I tell you." Kaoru said in a very ambiguous tone as she stepped to the side and weaved her way through the other angels. She only struck when necessary, slicing into shoulders and if they didn't get the hint to move back then she attacked parts of their legs.

"Well, you see. Healing, barriers, support, bows. All nice things, yes. But-" Haruo shoved one of the Saint's Order members backward. "-as you can see, that didn't fit me at all." She was about to respond when one underhanded little upstart grabbed her tunic and pulled her backwards, the demon continuing as she brought Lady Luck down to stab her very hands on opponent.
"But that's not really the point. It's the second reason. The Saint's Order." After that she twisted her blade and she heard a sharp screech as she was released, her turn to face her opponent was unnecessary because he had backed off.

"Hey....angels aren't all pretty little darlings that are useless up close and personal. But with the Saint's Order...I'm not surprised that they've left me alone till now. They'll probably come after the both of us eventually though." She mentioned, switching to Cupid's Bow before activating Battle Blitz as her own wings unfurled. The colour of crushed pearls and just as shimmery, they stretched out and propelled her into the air, three volleys coming from her to strike out at the players that weren't fighting with Haruo.

His battle cry sent a chill down her spine as her lilac optics flicked over the square, many of the spectators had scattered, others were staying to see the outcome.
"If the Saint's Order is a corrupt light, I became a Demon to strike them down with just darkness!" At this she felt her wings fold into her again, despite her being up a few feet in the air.
"Oh shiiiii-....." They were weak from lack of use....this was the one moment she cursed that fact as she fell down straight onto her back on the ground. "Ow..."

She hastily rolled and then scrambled up to her feet as many of the other angels about were on their knees or backs. She watched as Haruo pointed his blade at the nearest angel to him, walking towards him.

"Unlike you guys, I don't kill so I will let you leave." Haruo told them before sheathing his sword. "But if you do not heed this warning, I will kill you." Kaoru on the other hand kept her weapon out, listening to the rest of the demon boy's words before smirking beneath her mask as he asked her a question.
"Is it safe to assume that I can leave those to you?" She looked back at him and gave him a nod before shooting an arrow into one of the other angels' thighs.

"It is safe to assume that, though I could easily just try and stun them all then teleport us out of here....unless you'd prefer to give them more time to try getting reinforcements?" She pointed out, pulling the draw string back and loosing another arrow before switching back to her sword.
"Oh... and don't kill them... if you can help it." He added and she laughed softly, striking a player in the stomach with the flat of Lady Luck before kicking the back of his knee when he crumpled on the ground.
"You haven't heard of what I'm like then, have you? Otherwise you wouldn't be asking me that." She teased in response as she fought her way back to his side....oh my this boy was interesting. She wasn't so egotistical to think that everyone should know her...but the mask had given her the new name, wasn't he the least bit curious about the girl helping him right now?

"So...you wanting to keep fighting? Or stun and run?" Kaoru asked before an Order angel charged at her, only to get the hilt of her sword brought down on the back of their head, knocking him out. She pushed the male angel's body to the side as it crumpled under its own weight. "....and before you ask, yes I have a safe place for us to stay." She added as an afterthought, wondering if the Order would be bothered enough by her aiding this guy...to come all the way to the mill to get them.
"My real name is Kaoru by the way....but if you call me Ru-ru I'll kick your ass, 'kay?" She mentioned to him before continuing to fight while she assumed he was thinking everything over.

"You haven't heard of what I'm like then, have you? Otherwise you wouldn't be asking me that."

"Not exactly, that's why I wanted to talk after we get away from all this. I'd like to learn more about my savior. Especially an Angel like you." He told her as he rested against a wall. "And, I'd like to take a look at the face beneath that mask."

"Nice to meet you Ru- eer... I mean, Kaoru." Haruo told her, giving his mouth a small pat for almost calling the girl Ru-ru. "Real name's Haruo."

"I'd like to see this 'safe place' of yours, so let's stun and run." He told her, but made no move to attack. With much embarrassment in his voice, he added. "Uh... I'll have to rely on your for that, because I haven't learned my stun skills yet."

"Not exactly, that's why I wanted to talk after we get away from all this. I'd like to learn more about my savior. Especially an Angel like you." She looked over at him as he rested against a wall and she tilted her head slightly. "And, I'd like to take a look at the face beneath that mask." So he was in fact curious....that was all well and good, but once he knew, what would happen then? A small part of her wished that she'd just left it all to fate rather than intervening, but the majority of her being remained glad that she'd helped out. After all, one good turn could one day be beneficial...right? Kaoru realised that making contracts with people was....much like romance, partly necessary, partly just..empty fluff. It was much better to become friends through helping others out, even if they weren't of your race.

"Nice to meet you Ru- eer... I mean, Kaoru." She let out a genuine laugh as he patted his mouth for almost calling her Ru-ru. She still wasn't ready for someone other than her late brother to call her that. Heck, maybe she never would be...but she just had this feeling that one day she could let someone call her Ru-ru again. "Real name's Haruo."
"Ahh...you almost called me Ru-ru~" Kaoru teased, stretching as she checked if she had enough mana left to try her moves if he chose to let her teleport them outta there. "It's a pleasure to meet you to Haruo."

"I'd like to see this 'safe place' of yours, so let's stun and run." He told her, but made no move to attack. With much embarrassment in his voice, he added. "Uh... I'll have to rely on your for that, because I haven't learned my stun skills yet." She blinked before nodding her head slightly, sprinting over to him and with or without his protests she then reached up as high as she could. Just before she covered his ears, lilac looked up into steel grey and she cleared her throat...darn...Haruo had certainly put a lot of effort into Circle...if this avatar was in a manga in the rea word she'd be drooling right now.

"Hold onto me real tight...don't want you flying off into some unknown area, if I have to fetch your ass out of a dungeon I won't be happy." She said the last part half-heartedly, the grin showing in her voice before she covered his ears to block out the spell she was about to cast.
"GIVE ME SPACE!! She cried out, a ring of concentrated magic blasted out around them with enough force to stun the Saint's Order angels for at least 3 seconds.

She then wrapped her arms around the large demon and concentrated on the doorway of the mill. She closed her eyes and let out a slow deep breath, the pair then disappearing in a flash of blue-silver just as the stun wore off. They appeared moments later and she released him gently, not wanting him to get giddy as sometimes her teleports did that to first timers.
"Well...here we are, let me break the barriers for you when we get to them and remove the traps." She said letting her hair down as she undid the ponytail, touching the slight blue sheen in the doorway of the mill. There was a shattering sound and then a hastily whispered message that she'd left embedded in the barrier.

She moved on quickly, picking up traps and breaking barriers for him until he was in the main living quarters. Her brother's old pallet lay undisturbed and she cleared her throat before going back out to put the barriers up again.
"Make yourself at home...you can look through the stuff here if you want any of it. I shared with a demon so there should be some gear that he left behind just in case." She said as she came back, going through to the wash room to get a damp cloth before she pulled the ribbons that kept the mask on her face.

Kaoru pulled the mask off then wiped her face with the cloth to cool it down a little. The mask may have been pretty, but porcelain didn't really breathe. She put her weapons down beside her pallet and then stretched her arms up as she turned to face him. Lilac eyes shimmering a little as her delicate features were revealed to him.
"Can you tell that I put a lot of effort into Shreya's face?" She asked with a slight smile before tucking some loose hair behind one ear. "Oh yeah, are you hungry or anything?" Kaoru questioned as an afterthought as she looked through her inventory.

"So....Haruo...sounds like a Japanese name, whereabouts do you live in the real world?" She blurted out before looking down, yes...if she was a cat she too would be dead because of curiosity but she couldn't help it. Now that she wasn't fighting her own kind, she was wanting to know everything that he was willing to tell her...but she'd try to leave well enough alone if he told her to stop prying.

"Ahh...you almost called me Ru-ru~" He could sense that she was teasing her. "It's a pleasure to meet you to Haruo."

She sprinted over to him then reached up as high as she could. Just before she covered his ears, Haruo caught a glimpse of her eyes before she cleared her throat.

"Hold onto me real tight...don't want you flying off into some unknown area, if I have to fetch your ass out of a dungeon I won't be happy." Humor showing in her voice before she covered his ears for a reason he would soon find out.
"GIVE ME SPACE!!" He could hear the muffled sentence through the hands covering his ears, watching a ring of concentrated magic blasted out around them with enough force to stun the Saint's Order angels.

She then wrapped her arms around the large demon, to which Haruo reciprocated, placing his arms around her to make sure he wouldn't fly off as she described. He heard her let out a slow deep breath, the pair then disappearing in a flash of blue-silver. They appeared moments later and she released him gently. Haruo stumbled about for a short while before shaking his head and recovered.

"Well...here we are, let me break the barriers for you when we get to them and remove the traps." She said letting her hair down as she undid the ponytail, Haruo admiring the way her dark-brown hair flowed down. She touched the slight blue sheen in the doorway of the mill. There was a shattering sound and then a hastily whispered message that she'd left embedded in the barrier.

She moved on quickly, picking up traps and breaking barriers for him until he was in the main living quarters. She cleared her throat before going back out to, if he was right, put the barriers up again.
"Make yourself at home...you can look through the stuff here if you want any of it. I shared with a demon so there should be some gear that he left behind just in case." She said as she came back, going through to the wash room to get a damp cloth before she pulled the ribbons that kept the mask on her face.

Kaoru pulled the mask off then wiped her face with the cloth to cool it down a little before putting her weapons down beside her pallet and then stretched her arms up as she turned to face him. Haruo stared at her with wide grey eyes. Her appearance was dazzling and her lilac colored eyes seemed to draw the attention of his grey ones. Noticing that he was staring into her eyes, he blinked and looked away.

'It's a digital avatar, a digital avatar. No need to get so attracted stupid Haruo.' he thought to himself. He knew it was useless though. He had always admired video game or anime girls, even jokingly referring to them as his girlfriends.

"Can you tell that I put a lot of effort into Shreya's face?" She asked with a slight smile before tucking some loose hair behind one ear, to which Haruo regretted looking at. His face heated up as he tried to prevent himself looking at her. Shtap!

He quickly nodded, not trusting his mouth to say anything right now.

"Oh yeah, are you hungry or anything?"

"A-a bit?"

"So....Haruo...sounds like a Japanese name, whereabouts do you live in the real world?" She blurted out before looking down. The display made her look cute, which Haruo once again tried to beat it out of his head that the avatar was not real.

"I'm from Akihabara, Japan." he replied, scratching his cheek. "Kaoru's a Japanese name too, where are you from?"

Kaoru tilted her head to the side a little as she saw Haruo's face heat up as he tried to avoid looking at her. Had she paid too much attention to Shreya's face then? She then giggled a little as he nodded quickly, clapping her hands together happily.
"Yay~! Your avatar's very handsome, though you ah...haha you probably already know that though so you can disregard all that..." She said, covering her mouth after accidentally letting it slip that she found his virtual persona attractive. She was such a dork! He probably thought that she was so weird for randomly saying that to him, mentally she smacked a hand to her forehead before she sneaked another look at the well built demon. Hmm...the only downside was that in real life she liked the skinny guys, which kind of sucked because the skinny guys ignored her.

"A-a bit?" She nodded and thought for a moment about what they could possibly eat for a meal.
"Any preference for food?" She asked, trying to work out if she had the makings for anything he'd like or if she had to go foraging/hunting.
"I'm from Akihabara, Japan." he replied, scratching his cheek. "Kaoru's a Japanese name too, where are you from?" Her eyes widened as she looked up at him....no where had she heard that-.....oh goodness. Akihabara as in...in Tokyo?

"Akihabara as in....Toyko's Akihabara?" She asked in an unsure manner before rubbing the back of her neck a little nervously. "Well, it would be ironic if you lived in Tokyo's Akihabara....because I live in Uchikanda, Tokyo. Kanda station is on the same train line as yours right?" She mused, half wishing that they weren't opposing classes, otherwise they would have been able to possibly meet up in real life. Wouldn't that have been cool? To meet someone from a game....though she figured that she'd have to ask him one day that if he survived, if he would visit her grave or something.

But...that was way way in the future hopefully. There was a bitter-sweet feeling to that thought...he seemed like such a nice guy that it'd be a shame not to meet him outside of the game. Don't get her wrong, she'd been liked well enough in school...but not one guy had decided that she was in the same sort of area as cuter girls. The guys hadn't gone out of their way to do anything with her, treating her more like a guy than a girl which she'd found to be irritating at times but whatever.

"Feels so weird to not be in school...I'm probably missing English with my best friend Yukie right now." She said lightly, the face of said best friend however was starting to fade a little now...she couldn't remember just how much green Yukie's eyes had in them, or what her hair had been styled like that last day. However Kaoru pulled herself out of trying to remember and got to work, tidying up the place a little as best she could. Despite being a girl, she wasn't the best at cleaning...she was a lot better at cooking. So she stopped after a few minutes and came back to sit down on her pallet, nervous energy expended for now.
"So....where do we go from here?" She asked him after a good few moments of quiet, pulling up her knees enough so that she could rest her forearms on them.

"Yay~! Your avatar's very handsome, though you ah...haha you probably already know that though so you can disregard all that..." She blurted out before covering her mouth. He looked at her with surprise and then tried to hide his small smile.

"Any preference for food?" She asked. He shook his head.

"Here? Not really. Back in the real world? Hamburger steaks." He replied with longing, his grey eyes staring off into space.

"Akihabara as in....Toyko's Akihabara?" She asked in an unsure manner before rubbing the back of her neck a little nervously. "Well, it would be ironic if you lived in Tokyo's Akihabara....because I live in Uchikanda, Tokyo. Kanda station is on the same train line as yours right?"

"Uchi-kanda... Uchi-kanda... yes, same train line if the one you're talking about is the Keihin-Tohoku line." He answered, now more interested in the girl player. That would mean they were within visiting range. How nice if they could just log out and hang out with each other. Who knows? What if she was single?

'Haruo. No.' He whacked himself. 'No thoughts like this!'

"Feels so weird to not be in school...I'm probably missing English with my best friend Yukie right now." She said lightly. Suddenly she went around tidying up the place. Then she stopped after a few minutes and came back to sit down on her pallet, nervous energy expended for now.

"So....where do we go from here?" She asked him after a good few moments of quiet, pulling up her knees enough so that she could rest her forearms on them.

"I don't know. I usually just pick up mission after mission after mission. Hardly lingered in one place for long." Haruo told her before collapsing down on the floor and stretched. "I wanted to level up as fast as I could... but I'm tired."

"...Maybe... we could talk about why Humans are in your black books?" He asked with interest, rolling onto his stomach and propped up on his arms to look at Kaoru. "We have some time to kill while I take a short rest."

"Or if you're not comfy with that, we don't have to talk about it."

"Here? Not really. Back in the real world? Hamburger steaks." Kaoru groaned as she thought of hamburger steaks...because although she liked sweet things above all, hamburger steaks were one of her top rated meals. She was like a little kid in one respect though, always drooling at the thought of sweets. What she'd do for some dango right now....heck, she'd even go for some melon bread! On second thought, if she had some pocky she could share with-...no no no, back up there sister. She would have to try her damnedest to avoid that zone like she'd avoided doing her brother's laundry back before Babylon.
"I have.....roast beef or....hmm...vegetable soup. No hamburger steaks here I'm afraid."

"Uchi-kanda... Uchi-kanda... yes, same train line if the one you're talking about is the Keihin-Tohoku line." He answered, now more interested in the girl player. She tilted her head to the side as she sensed his interest in her, a quirky little half-smile turning up the right corner of her lips. She wondered if she'd ever seen him, even in passing when she had used the Keijin-Tohoku line to get to school. Kaoru reached up and touched the hair at one side of her neck, laughing a little as the game tried to compensate for the fact that in real life she was touching air;the ends of her real hair ghosting across the back of her hand. It was the little things that reminded her of her real form now...like how she had her ears pierced, but Shreya didn't...all that sort of stuff.
"Funny huh...if it wasn't for the fact that we couldn't log out, I'd want to visit you in Akihabara. I mean, I dunno about you, but I look real different from my avatar. You wouldn't recognise me I reckon." She said with a laugh, pushing a hand through the dark locks that she'd gotten used to over the months.

"I don't know. I usually just pick up mission after mission after mission. Hardly lingered in one place for long." Haruo told her before she watched him lie down on the floor and stretch. "I wanted to level up as fast as I could... but I'm tired."
"Ahh...trying to power level on your own huh? I can see why you're tired, I haven't done a mission in just over a week." She sympathised before giving him a little bit of a sad smile. Her poor brother...Kaoru wondered if her mum had already put her brother to rest. She wondered who would be at his funeral... because at the last time they'd looked, none of their friends had made it out of the arena. They'd stopped looking at the username lists after a while, the sadness still too raw over their loss...and now she had lost her brother too.

"...Maybe... we could talk about why Humans are in your black books?" He asked with interest, rolling onto his stomach and propped up on his arms to look at Kaoru. "We have some time to kill while I take a short rest." Ahh....yes, she'd said that she'd tell him. Well, she was always true to her word and she wasn't about to stop now.
"Or if you're not comfy with that, we don't have to talk about it."
"Well ah, last week I did a dungeon raid with my brother. W-We came out and there was a group of humans waiting...Yuuta tried to fend them off but my barriers kept breaking because they were working s-so well together. He was hurt really bad and I just...I had to get him outta there. I used all my remaining mana to bring us back here but he ah...he didn't...h...he-.." Her eyes filled up with tears, a slight sniffle coming from her as she couldn't go on.

Her throat tightened and she swallowed thickly as she blinked several times, swiping at the tears that had slid down her pale cheeks.
"I'm s-sorry, I just..." She choked out before turning her face away from him a bit, her hair slipping down to hide her features. "Told you i-it was a sorry tale." Kaoru murmured, her shoulders shaking just a little as she took in a deep breath. Despite the tears and the grief, she was glad that she'd told someone...kept her brother alive and well in her heart, with his goofy smile and the way he used to ruffle her hair. It was all part of her now and always would be.

"I have.....roast beef or....hmm...vegetable soup. No hamburger steaks here I'm afraid."

Haruo shrugged and had an expression on his face that seemed to say 'I'm fine with either', since well, he had no preference for food in the game... maybe save the fact of the grub stew. That... was nasty.

"Funny huh...if it wasn't for the fact that we couldn't log out, I'd want to visit you in Akihabara. I mean, I dunno about you, but I look real different from my avatar. You wouldn't recognise me I reckon." Kaoru said with a laugh, pushing a hand through the dark locks. She did have a very nice laugh to listen to.

"Don't fret it. Same here. I look the complete opposite of what I am in-game." He laughed in reply, then added with a wink. "Visiting huh? I'd visit you in Uchi-kanda too... but Akihabara has more things to do."

"Ahh...trying to power level on your own huh? I can see why you're tired, I haven't done a mission in just over a week."

"A week? I'd be restless out of my mind by then. I like moving."

Finally, she started telling him the tale she promised to tell him after the fight with the Saint's Order.

Haruo got into a crouch and shuffled over towards her.

"I'm s-sorry, I just..." She choked out before turning her face away from him a bit, her hair slipping down to hide her features. "Told you i-it was a sorry tale." Kaoru murmured, her shoulders shaking just a little as she took in a deep breath.

Feeling guilty, Haruo scratched through his white locks trying to find the best course of action. Finally, with a small sigh, he reached under Kaoru's dark locks to wipe her tears. Finding that difficult, he hesitantly tucked her hair behind her ear so he could see clearer. After a while, Haruo's gaze was averted, searching around the ground for imaginary rubbish. He was biting his lip, guilt already gnawing away inside him.

"H-hush, hush." He said softly, almost a whisper. "Sorry for making you cry... hush."

Slowly, gently, he placed a hand on top of her head and moved it slowly, ruffling her dark hair. Haruo's expression was hard to read, a combination of pouting, frowning, blushing. Even he himself was probably confused.

"I don't know what a guy's supposed to do if he makes a girl cry...okay?" He tried to reason for his actions. "Shhh, hush."

"Oh!" Kaoru gasped as Haruo's fingers brushed against her cheek, surprising her as he brushed away a tear. However he must have found it a little tricky because she then felt him tuck her hair behind her ear. She blinked and gave him a wobbly smile although it was just as he averted his gaze to look at the ground. She frowned slightly in confusion as he bit his lip, had she said too much?
"H-hush, hush." He said softly, almost a whisper. "Sorry for making you cry... hush."

She had to lean toward him to hear what he was saying, eyes widening a little as he placed a hand on top of her head. When he moved it she stared up at him in amazement, her cheeks going a light pink as she saw the mix of emotions on his face. However she felt comfortable regardless....it was a kind thing for him to do, though she could sense how awkward he felt about it all.
"I don't know what a guy's supposed to do if he makes a girl cry...okay?" He tried to reason for his actions. "Shhh, hush."

"You're doing well...you didn't mean to make me cry, it's alright." She said softly, trying to soothe the both of them as she reached up and dried the last of the tears away. To make him feel a little better, she knelt and then wrapped her arms around him in a gentle hug. Kaoru rested her chin on his shoulder for a moment and sighed. "I kinda needed that....to talk about it...and it never hurts to have a good cry every once and a while." She explained before she hurriedly let him go.
"S-Sorry...I just thought that you looked like you needed a hug." She blurted out, sitting back on her heels for a moment as her cheeks turned a slightly darker pink.

OOC: Short post is short...but my nephew just woke up from his nap and he be wanting foooood......lol.

"You're doing well...you didn't mean to make me cry, it's alright." She said softly as she reached up and dried the last of the tears away. Haruo was a little surprised when she knelt and then wrapped her arms around him in a gentle hug. Kaoru rested her chin on his shoulder for a moment and sighed. "I kinda needed that....to talk about it...and it never hurts to have a good cry every once and a while." She explained before she hurriedly let him go.

With the hug and a short moment of intimacy as she rested her chin on his broad shoulder, Haruo's face was an instant fire engine red.

"S-Sorry...I just thought that you looked like you needed a hug." Kaoru blurted out, sitting back on her heels for a moment as her cheeks turned a slightly darker pink.

Haruo blinked a couple of times, mouthed like a goldfish and grey orbs met lilac ones as he looked at her. That was very... very unexpected. Time for a change of subject.

"Eer... I'm new to all of this... hugging and stuff." he bounced onto his feet, cleared his throat. "Now... is there anything you need help with around here? Cooking?"

He walked around for a little, then did a comical twirl, one he usually did back home. It's good to know some habits never die even when your body was half dying in the real world. When he completed a 360, he struck a pose.

"I'm actually pretty good with cooking, even back home in the real world." He boasted sweetly, then made a dorky smile that surprisingly fitted well with CirCle's features. "Even then since I was so caught up with education and games, I tend to just pour hot water into a styrofoam bowl..."

"Now then... what's it gonna be? Or are you going to do the cooking?" He raised an eyebrow. He really didn't believe in all the 'kitchen equals female domain'. It was stupid in his opinion. What if a guy wanted to eat and his wife was away from home for several days? Starve to death? Eat outside?

'And that is why, knowing how to cook is never a bad thing.' Haruo thought to himself.

She noticed how his face changed colour and he started to resemble a goldfish. A little confused as to why he was looking so surprised, she was about to ask when he decided to explain.
"Eer... I'm new to all of this... hugging and stuff." She looked up in surprise herself when he bounced to his feet and cleared his throat. "Now... is there anything you need help with around here? Cooking?" She wracked her brain to try and find something he could do, eventually coming back to the cooking as he had originally suggested.
"I suppose you could help cook.....are you any good at cleaning too?" She broached the question gently, suddenly feeling a little emotionally drained from the tears.

She got to her feet after a moment on her knees, looking at him just in time to catch his random comical twirl. A slight giggle coming from her as the large framed demon really was quite funny looking when he did that.
"I'm actually pretty good with cooking, even back home in the real world." He boasted sweetly, then made a dorky smile that she found fitted CirCle's features quite well...not to mention made her respond with her own dorky smile. "Even then since I was so caught up with education and games, I tend to just pour hot water into a styrofoam bowl..."

"I used to cook when mum and dad were working late, so I've gotten good at it...cleaning still isn't my forte." She said with a slight grimace as she hoped he wouldn't call her femininity into question.
"Now then... what's it gonna be? Or are you going to do the cooking?" He raised an eyebrow at her and she poked her tongue out at him, leading him into what appeared to be the kitchen. A pot hanging on a hook above a pile of embers, which she added some slivers of wood to.
"I would like a little help if that's fine with you Haruo...would be nice for a change of pace." She said easily before looking in a small wicker basket that had ingredients in it. "So...what do you think we can make with this stuff?" She asked as she moved to the side so he could see in too.

ooc: I know it's short :<

"I suppose you could help cook.....are you any good at cleaning too?" She broached the question gently.

He did the little tap salute to his forehead.

"My room's a mess, never had time. Mum always told me that if we set our heads to it, we can do anything so... we'll see what I can do about cleaning. Cooking's a-okay with me."

"I used to cook when mum and dad were working late, so I've gotten good at it...cleaning still isn't my forte." She said with a slight grimace causing him to laugh lightheartedly.

She poked her tongue out at him, leading him into what appeared to be the kitchen.

"Always around to help people, me." Haruo joked about his position, then peered over at the basket. "Well... we probably won't do much with those..." He brought up his menu and prodded several items, all appearing and accumulating on his palm, then winked at Kaoru. "What if we added these?"

Dropping the items into the basket, it was filled with many different things, ranging from red garlic-like things to white spring onions and several outrageous looking vegetables and slabs of meat. This was a game after all...

"Nobody ever says no to the big prize." Haruo added before slapping down a large piece of rather aromatic meat, the <Zernes Meat>, claimed to be the game's greatest food item drop from the crystal-like deer creatures and said to taste heavenly. "Don't ask me where I got the <Zernes Meat>. All I can say is that those critters are really annoying, hard to catch and even harder to get drops from."

Slapping his hands together and rubbing them with delight, he smiled at Kaoru, "Now then... shall I get to cleaning and you to cooking? Or do I need to work double time with as many limbs as I can manage?"

She smiled at the salute he gave her and she nodded as he explained about the cleaning but said he'd readily help out with the cooking. His laugh caused her to respond with one of her own as he followed her into the kitchen, a slight frown furrowing her brow as he came over and looked in the wicker basket. So they couldn't do much with it huh? Figures...ahh well, as she turned to see him wink at her and then she spotted the things in his palm.
"Hey...last time I checked, I saved your butt back there. So maybe I'm here to help you out from now on?" She teased in response to his joke, a slight softness in her expression as she winked back before he dropped the items into the basket.

"Those look good, though I'm not quite sure what you have in mind for us to make?" She questioned before spotting a vegetable that looked like a potato and she laughed.
"Apparently whichever world you're in, there's still potatoes in it." Kaoru commented as she picked it up and showed him, the potato looking perfectly ordinary compared to what he pulled out of his inventory next. Her mouth forming an 'o' of surprise as the white haired demon pulled out a large piece of <Zernes Meat>. She found a new respect for him right then and there....he would have had to have stealth up to the eyeballs to even get near one. Or he lost patience and tackled one....At this she imagined him tackling one of the majestic beasts. She smiled a little as he comented on just that...how hard they were to catch and get drops from.

"I'll now admit that I just imagined you tackling one of them...not gonna lie." She said before he clapped his hands together and rubbed them with delight. She grinned and shrugged a shoulder before removing her mini-jacket and tunic, leaving her in a black lacy dress as she put the items of clothing back into her inventory for now.
"I'll let you do the cleaning while I do the cooking....anything in particular you want me to do with the <Zernes Meat>? Seasoning it or anything? Or we just roast it and have vegetables with it?" She queried before tying her hair up in a bun and planting her hands on her hips as she looked at the meat before her.

She'd only ever cooked it once before but she'd done it in a stew with vegetables...simply because her brother wouldn't have put up with the slightly burnt bits of meat that could have resulted from roasting. However she went and started peeling and chopping vegetables regardless, she was going to give him a balanced meal. She put the cut up veggies in the pot to boil and then looked at the red garlic shaped thing in the basket....would she dare put it on the meat? Or leave it as it was? Oh the dilemmas of cooking.
