The bread was finally done and piping hot. Emily draped an ornate basket with an embroidered cloth and nestled the fresh loaves inside. She then carefully folded the edges of the cloth back in on the break, careful to ensure that the decorative patterns were showing on top. The royals liked things a certain way, and she wasn't about to be punished for doing such a small thing wrong.
Lunch would begin in only twenty minutes. Emily set the bread basket near the ovens to keep them warm. Her stomach was tying in knots from the waiting. She'd just been informed that one of the other maids was sick, and that Emily had to serve the bread.

"Of course! I've been having fun since I met you," Philip said with a laugh in response to Isabel's question. It was true, this whole time was probably the most fun he'd had in months. It had been almost 2 hours though, and the carriage for home would be leaving soon.
As soon as the thought crossed his mind he saw a guard coming over the hill. Philip flashed a warning look at Jamie before going under the water. Even with the peasant clothes there really wasn't any hiding his red hair.

Evan's mind went blank again when Jamie kissed his cheek. He came back to earth when she got in the water and he smiled to himself. Ok, he admitted silently, for a royal she's not so bad...
