Caph was born the oldest of three siblings, each three years apart in age. His family was never very wealthy; his mother was the "laundry woman" of the town, and his father was a simple laborer. As a child, Caph often found himself home alone or otherwise unsupervised as his parents worked nearly every day. Because of this, he quickly learned his limits: where he could go safely, what he could manage to steal without getting caught (his parents never knew of this particular hobby of his), where exactly his boundaries were and how far he could push them. When his younger sister was born, he was only three years old. Though his mother was able to take care of her while still an infant, it wasn't long before Caph was charged the responsibility of overseeing her as well as himself. The two grew close as they explored the town together.
Caph was only six when his younger brother was due to be born. It soon became apparent that something was wrong with the pregnancy, and Caph could even see this in his young age. She was weak, and could take only half the work she used to be able to do a day. Because of this, times became hard; Caph often stole food to keep his family fed. Unfortunately, Caph's mother did not make it through the birthing, though her newest son survived (barely). After the death of his wife, Caph's father became detached...at least, all the good things. With only one adult, supporting a family became hard. Caph began joining his father in the field when he was still considered a child, but he knew it was necessary. His sister gained Caph's previous adventurous habits and took her younger brother around the town while her older brother and father were at work. However, at this point, stories of the Lycan threat had reached the town; their father was stern in his warning to stay inside the house.
Caph was still a boy (perhaps eleven years old) when the town was attacked. At this point in time, the Lycan virus had not evolved much; a swarm of the giant beasts just rushed into town one night. Caph was the last one out of his house, ushering out his two younger siblings with his father before the family fled the town. They made it a couple of miles before the family was forced to rest; all of the children were completely exhausted. Though his father knew they weren't "out of the woods" yet, he knew they had no other choice. A few hours later, Caph awoke to the screams of his younger sister. A small group of Lycans had found the family. Caph was not able to see the fate of his family before he was bit; he fell unconscious just after he was bitten.
Caph awoke in an unfamiliar location, surrounded by Lycans. He was adopted into the pack, spending his first couple of years with this group of Lycans. These were the toughest; he was still young mentally, and he found it hard to control his urges. He was one of the few in the pack that could take human form, and he found himself spending a good deal of time in that form because it was easier to resist the urge for human flesh. The pack itself was very small, which allowed them to travel without being detected. After a couple of years, the pack traveled to the main "lair" of the Lycans - there were more Lycans here than Caph had ever seen. Here was where he spent the largest portion of his Lycan life thus far. Here, he learned the more intricate ways of being a Lycan; he learned to use his ability to turn into a human to deceive his prey.
After spending a good deal of time here, he left the large group of Lycans to form his own pack, though the reasoning behind his leaving is known only to him. He slowly created his own pack through the changing of several humans, including a Meiya Centiel. Only a few of the pack can change into a human form, however, him being one of them. The pack travels together now, changing people to add to their pack and further spread the virus.
