Emma is a very ambitious person and knows where she wants to go in life and will do everything to make it happen. She is a very caring person and with happily help people with her problems. Despite this the doesn't like talking about her own feelings to other people including her friends and family, tending to bottle up any problems or worries she has. She has good common sense and is level headed especially for a teenager. This is exact opposite of her mum who acts first and thinks later.
The first thing people often notice about Emma is that she is shy. Although she is friendly and likes meeting new people, it makes her very uncomfortable and she fines herself unable to be the person to start conversations. Once she is comfortable she can be very friendly and talkative. Unfortunately due to some bullying when she was about thirteen Emma has a big lack of confidence in most aspects of herself which makes it difficult for her to appreciate that she is a gifted writer and photographer.
Emma is a very caring and empathic person which is shown to most people who kind-hearted and nice to others.
Emma was born after her mum Charlotte had a one night stand. Due to this Emma was brought up by her single parent mother as she is unaware of who her father is. Charlotte had just started a job as a journalist for a local news paper and was 19 when she had Emma. Luckily Charlotte had the support of her family who helped her to raise Em.
Emma's family never had much money, her mums journalist jobs rarely paying much money even working with larger magazines like Kerrang. Making less than £19,000 a year money was always tight but despite this Emma had a very happy childhood. At school Em was quite often dismissed by teachers due to her background however she still excelled at school.
At high school Emma was moved onto a gifted and talented programme for her English because she was already writing at college grade standard. Emma loved writing and wrote many short stories, some of which winning national young adult creative writing awards. When she was thirteen Emma began getting quite badly bullied which was mainly aimed at her not having the money to spend on branded clothing, a lot her clothes being second hand and her rarely being able to afford to go on the high school trips. Since a lot of the bullying was aimed at her appearance she became very self conscious.
When Emma was fifteen the bullying got so bad she refused to go to school and was home schooled. This was after she had been in situations like often being locked in a storage cupboard and students stealing her clothes during showers after sport lessons.
Growing up Emma has always been very involved in her mums work. When she was a teenager she often helped in the offices during school breaks mainly doing secretary work. Through these experiences Emma discovered her love for photography and began using contacts Charlotte had made to start doing photography at gigs as well as helping on some of the magazines photo shoots.
Recently, Emma's mum was offered a editorial job at Alternative Press Music magazine in America. Both Emma and Charlotte decided it was a brilliant opportunity for them to start out fresh so they moved to Ohio. Emma's mum now makes about $25,000 which means that they are at least a bit better off. After moving to America Emma was offered a scholarship to Crossroads Academy after they were approached by Alternative Press pointing out her talent in writing and awards.
