James is a mentally unstable survivor who prefers to survive by stealth rather than force.
Reed was raised as a Presbyterian Christian by his mother and father. He was in his junior year of studying religion when the war started. He maintains most ties to his religious roots, and as such, in person, he retains a helpful and kind personality towards humans, but due to mental issues, believes the "fallouts" are Satan's minions, and acts violently toward them, often seeking them out and hunting them down. Unfortunately, exposure to radiation has left his mind in a state of disarray, and he constantly falls victim to outbursts and other abnormal social behaviors during times of stress. He has developed an obsession with rounded objects and hordes smooth rocks and other curved 'treasures' in his warehouse hideaway. This obsession has also caused him to have kleptomaniac tendencies. A stranger encountering Reed should expect a welcome reception but be wary of acting in a way that could be construed as suspicious.
Reed carries a fire ax and work boots that he nabbed from a fire truck in the early days of the war.
James Reed was raised in the middle class by his mother and father. His home life was normal, and he was an active Christian for his entire pre-war life. Reed has no siblings but had many friends within his youth community. Reed's mother was a pharmacist and his father worked as a bartender in a pub downtown. Reed was away at college when the war peaked, and he was forced to flee into the city to survive. Months of drinking irradiated water slowly took their toll on his mind and he now displays manic tendencies. He has moved into an abandoned warehouse on the edge of the industrial sector of Glass Heights. It is there that he keeps his collection of 'rounds', stores food, and sleeps.
