Rune is truly the heir of the Serrile line, who has ruled over the deserts of the eastern kingdoms for many generations. He stands at 6'1'', making him slightly taller than other males from his line, and has the light and speedy build of the desert warriors. He is not muscularly built, but he does have a slim layer of muscle on his arms from his sword training. Keeping the tradition of the venom, Rune has dark green hair and eyes, the color of deep snake venom. He keeps his hair long and tied back, and it currently goes down to the middle of his back. His skin is fair like the rest of his line, and he can normally be seen with windburn across his face and arms.

Before the time of the Serriles, a group of heretics ruled the desert and worshiped the snake god as an evil diety. At that time, Roshune Serrile was just the leader of a band of nomads. Apalled by the dark actions of the heretics, he led his small army against them, and took control of the throne from them. After that, Roshune put all of his effort into making the kingdom more powerful and cleaning up the messes the heretics created. His biggest achievment was reversing the way people thought of their diety; exposing the wisdom and cunning of the serpent and cleansing its name of the blood the heretics bathed it in. The people loved Roshune, and demanded that he take the throne and lead them until his death. Roshune and his wife bore a son, and to the suprise of all, he was born with venom green eyes and hair while neither parent had similar traits. The people took this as a sign of the Serriles' right to rule, saying that the venom of the snake runs through their veins.

Rune was born the heir to the Serrile throne, who has ruled since Roshune's time. Although his father still ruled justly and fairly, the family had long since abandoned its warrior heritage. Rune was not willing to accept the life of a noble, wanting to follow in Roshune's footsteps. He left the capital with his own band of loyal knights, and traveled the desert for years like a mercenary group, fighting bandits and protecting the people. The people fell in love with him, calling him the Saint of Swords and treating him as a hero. When the issue of Ithilia came up, Rune's father was prepared to hand over the spot to one of Rune's cousins. Not willing to let his father get away with that, he revealed his true identity to the people of the kingdom. The people were rejoicing; their Saint who had protected them for many years was in truth the lost Serrile prince! They argued with the emperor, demanding that he send the true prince rather than some proper noble to the school. Not able to fight the peoples' demand, his father had no choice but to let Rune go to Ithilia.

Hebi is much shorter than Rune, at 5'7'' tall while in human form. She is paler than Rune as well, prefering the indoors rather than the heat of outside. Her arms and legs are slender, lacking the muscle that others have, but she is very flexible and can bend her limbs in almost inhuman ways. Like the inheritors of her spirit, she has dark green eyes an hair. She keeps her hair long and wavy, and it falls down to her butt. She is more on the petite side, but has visable feminine curves. When she appears as a snake, she is the same dark green color as her hair.

Hebi has been the guardian spirit of the Serrile line since its begining. She is the spirit of the snake, and as such is the avatar of the Eastern Desert. Traditionally, she remained as a snake spirit and simply advised the heir of the Serrile throne; but upon bonding with Rune, her situation changed. Rune did not grow up in the palace, so she had to accompany him on his nomadic travels through the desert. She no longer could get by just by helping Rune with political issues, she had to become his confidante and his protector. He was the first person to channel her power since the third emperor, and has earned her respect for doing so. Also, Rune was the first to ever question her remaining in snake form, saying that it was "Akward to talk to a snake all the time"; so to appease him, she created her human form, and now uses it instead of her classic serpent.
