Description: . . .
When forced into formal wear, his clothes are always deep, striking hues of blue and contrasting blacks, all the better to bring out his eyes, he's told. Though, Finn usually fidgets when forced into the stiff garments, preferring instead the flexible everyday clothes he wears otherwise. Finlay has only a few scars, a mark or so on his hands from his early days of learning the sword, and a mark on his ear where the string of his bow once snapped back and cut him on the shell of his right ear.

Poetry: . . . Though none save his dire wolf and sister will ever, ever hear his poetry, the compositions he pens have an undeniable sweetness about them. Finlay has a way with the written word that might not be expected at first glance.
Loyal: . . .Finlay stands strong beside those he calls friends. His allegiance is not easily lost, his trust and loyalty given freely to those he feels have earned it.
Numbers: . . .Numbers and sums are easy enough for Finn. He's quick at calculating equations and enjoys his lessons in mathematics almost as much as he enjoys reading. His father assures Finn that his head for numbers is directly inherited from him.

Swordplay: . . . Finn isn't terrible with a sword in his hands, but he's definitely not good either. Years of practice has beaten him into a fighter who might not impale himself with his own sword, but the weapon still feels unwelcome in his hand, and he'd always opt for a bow instead.
Dreamer: . . . Finn has a habit of letting his mind drift, perhaps as he creates an extra verse to his latest poem, or conjures up some fantasy in his head. He's a bit of a dreamer, at times unfocused on what he's supposed to be doing. He's trying to work on this though,
understanding the importance in standing with his head firmly out of the clouds.

- Personality
The good and the bad combine to give you Finn, a young man still growing into himself and his responsibility. He means well most of the time, hopes to live up to the expectations heaped upon him by his parents. Loyal and kind, Finn cares a lot about those close to him, and though he's not always the most eloquent with his verbal words, he'll try and comfort those in need. Finn's written language conveys much more of his emotions, the poems he frequently pens a testament to the secret romantic within. He writes love poems, and then ensures that the muse of his words never, ever sees the verses. Call him shy in the face of love, or scared at the thought of rejection, thus far he's only had the courage to share his poetry with a handful of select people.
With a father who boasts and jokes that he's the best looking lord around, and a mother with a wit just as sharp, Finn's gained a decent sense of humour over his twenty years. He's not as loud as the current lord, but among friends his playful nature comes out. Finn's an easy conversationalist around those he's comfortable with, quick to let a smile appear on his face, or a teasing remark slip from his lips. He's not particularly sarcastic, probably takes a second too long to get some of the more subtle jokes, but he'll laugh when amused anyway. He gets flustered around those who intimidate him, or those he's infatuated with, blushes more easily than he cares for, and wishes he could verbalise the words he so easily puts to paper.
Where he veers from his image as a dreamer is in the tireless practice he'll put in to achieving his goals. His studies are always completed with a perfectionists finish, even if it takes that much longer because he spent some time staring out the window and wishing he could go riding. Finn's physical training also sees a dedication to perfection too, or at least his archery does. If he's passionate about something, Finn usually puts in far more effort to better himself in the subject. Spontaneity litters his life too; the occasional daring as he gleefully challenges Seth or another friend to a horse race or something else equally thrilling, before laughing in good-nature even if he lost.

His father's direwolf also featured in many early childhood scenes, and Finlay's father has always been happy to tell the story of toddler Finn stumbling towards the giant wolf with a drooling grin on his face, sticky hands clutching excitedly at the dire wolf's fur as the creature patiently let the young Lordling hug him. For as long as Finn could talk, he was begging his father for a dire wolf of his own, and luckily enough, fate smiled upon Finlay Larcoix. He was seven when his father brought home a dire wolf pup named Seth. She was of an age with Finn, perhaps slightly younger, and Finn was instantly in love. In those early weeks when she was kept in the kennels, Finn would pilfer treats from the kitchens to take to her, offering the ones he hadn't eaten on the way (he had a sweet tooth and poor control) to Seth. He used to sneak down at night to curl up beside her, and after so many mornings being woken by servants or the disapproving stare of his mother, Seth was given a small room linked to his.
Their bond only grew as they aged. He insisted on Seth joining in on his lessons, to help keep him focused, and would gleefully go exploring with the dire wolf whenever free time as his. Finn wished she could join in his swordplay, which the young lord showed little skill in. Archery, however, gained his attention early. Finn possessed a good eye for the activity, and a willingness to practice that saw him increasing his skill quickly. His talent with a bow made the hunting trips with the DeGray household that much more enjoyable, for Finn was able to actively participate alongside the Prince and their father's.
There was only one year where Finn didn't go out riding with the men, confined instead to the hunting lodge. He was 15 and only just recovering from an sickness that had almost cost Finn his life. Out exploring with Seth, the human had slipped and fallen into a freezing stream. Thinking nothing of it at the time, they'd returned home, Finn soaked and shivering. The shivering hadn't stopped, a cough had developed, and his weakened body developed an infection that would see him bed ridden for weeks. Doctors were called, a nurse assigned to attend to him every moment of the day, and Seth was sent to the kennels. He came as close to death as one could without passing over, and spent weeks of recovery regaining his strength. Even now, years after the event, his mother still frowns in worry if he shows signs of a cold
Finn barely remembers the shifting behaviour of his sister during his sickness, only recalls the piercing scream that had echoed throughout the corridors and rooms of their home as she'd walked into the infirmary one night to find the cold body of the nurse who had cared for Finn. She'd succumbed to the sickness Finn had possessed, and in doing so helped reveal the supernatural aspect to Finn's sister. None save his parents and Finn know that truth, that Branwen is a banshee, the first in generations of their mother's line. Finn's always been protective of those he loves, and he'll keep his little sister's secret for as long as needed if it means keeping her safe.
While sick, Finn's love of poetry blossomed. Confined to his bed, he spent weeks alleviating his boredom with books or games with Seth and Branwen. He still remembers picking up that first poetry book and becoming spellbound by the passages. He tried his hand at poetry not long after, writing a short, sweet ode to the girl he'd been infatuated with for weeks. The crush passed, but Finn's poetry did not. He's subjected Seth and Branwen to hearing recitals of his poetry on more than one occasion, though never had the courage to show anyone else, save Cedric Degray during the hunting trip which saw Finn bolted from joining the hunt by his worried mother.
Now, at age twenty, Finlay is learning more and more everyday on how to run their lands from his father. He's got a head for numbers that sees his studies pass with relative ease. While his younger days saw the young man seeking outside entertainment when bored with his lessons, he wants to make both his parents proud, and so dedicates himself to his studies... mostly. He's pleased of the break visiting the DeGray's estate offers, even if he doesn't entirely approve of his parents presenting his sister to Prince Lathan like an offering. Still, he looks forward to the festivities with an optimistic smile.
