James Thyme
Age: Twenty Four
Occupation: Architect
Appearance:
James always manages to look slightly dishevelled, regardless of how long he's been awake or what he's been doing, perhaps due to his thick hair that seems to have its own agenda. He has very dark eyes and a grin that could persuade the rain to stop and the pavements to dry. His favourite outfit would be jogging bottoms and a hoodie, but since he got his new job, he's determined to look smart with a shirt and colourful jumper and not embarrass himself -- even if his hair didn't get the memo.
Personality:
Enthusiastic, naive, people-pleaser, outwardly arrogant
James is generally an enthusiastic person, particularly about his new job as a dream architect, something he's wanted for years. He likes to appear arrogant and utilises his charming smile. He can be flirtatious in the right environment, but it doesn't take much to reveal the truth: he knows he is talented as an ordinary architect and enthusiastic about his new job, but he lacks confidence in his ability to do it. He finds failure of any kind very difficult to deal with as he is driven by a desperate desire to prove himself to everyone. He hates letting people down and because of this is a people-pleaser, with everyone except those he does not respect: rude people and drug-users. Both of which flick a switch on his personality.
History:
James grew up in a big family with three older brothers and two younger, although it never occurred to him to behave to make life easier for his mother. As a kid, he was frequently distracted in school and even more frequently was the distractor: often getting in trouble for messing around, but learnt to use his cheeky grin to get him out of trouble. While naturally intelligent, he didn't start doing well in school until he met a dream architect when he was thirteen, who inspired him to follow that path. With that goal in mind, he began to work much harder, heightening his natural artistic abilities with hard work.
He worked as a normal architect for several years and showed a lot of talent in the field, but every year he re-applied for extraction work. Until recently, he had not been successful. He has had a few months basic training in the mechanics of extraction and dream architecture, but with only minimal experience. He longs to be fully integrated into the work and to participate in a successful mission.
