Chath

In fire, there is the spark of chaos and destruction... the seed of life, of creativity.

a character in “Elemental Wrath: Rise of the Gods”, as played by Xorath

Description

Darkness, so thick that you could practically touch it... taste it on your tongue, was the only thing that filled the dark cavern a mile below the peak of Mt. Hubris... or so it was thought. What was before the two primal men that dared explore deeper into their home with their bright, hot stick was beyond their comprehension. They knew nothing of the structured metal behemoth before them, nor of it's shape. Sharp, jagged edges lined most of the structure. It appears designed after some great, winged beast, unlike anything they'd seen before. Eventually, they come across the sunken eye sockets and wicked maw of the metal statue. It's at this point that things go horribly wrong... or, depending on your point of view, horribly right. The fire on their primitive torch is snuffed, seemingly sucked into the creature's eyes. The eyes begin to glow, fire roiling out of the sockets and between teeth. The statue begins lighting up, the hollow metal filling with fire. The villagers cower before it, and with that, Chath's power receives the boon it needs. A horrible screetching noise... metal upon metal, is followed by the groan of that same metal straining to move after so many, many years. The cave quickly becomes too small for the metal dragon. An opening, the vent of the dormant volcano, is his way out.

The two men are consumed, feeding the fire within before he forces his way out of his prison, smoke and ash filling the sky and covering the earth. Streams are muddied and, as he spreads his wings to take flight, heated with his passing. The black metal of his body was an impressive sight, the Fire God as majestic as he is fearsome, and it was this form that would make the lesser creatures bow to him. Such a being demanded fear and respect... and typically got it.

Personality

Quick to anger, and just as quick to cool down. Chath is not kind to those that cross him, and unfortunate are those that betray him. He demands absolute obedience... power and protection is the reward that he gives. Chath loves creativity and life just as much as he does destruction and conquering his enemies. As such, he typically has an industrious mindset, and encourages his followers to create. Most often, this entails weapons of war. Egotistical and fickle to a fault, the God of Fire demands sacrifice every twenty years. He firmly believes that fear is the most valuable resource that one can possess, and nothing reinforces obedience and fear like giving up one of your own to appease your god. This act of faith, and the life force he obtains, allows him to sustain his physical form.

Earth is an element that he tends to get along with, as the two work well together.

Water is his opposite in many ways, though they are both connected to the aspect of Life. The God of Fire secretly admires his natural enemy for this reason.

Air can stoke or snuff a fire. Chath is neutral towards this element.

Death is his hated enemy. Chath is bent on his destruction.

Equipment

His mind. Chath is ruthless and cunning, and that is the best type of equipment one can have.

However, it does help to have a bit of assistance when one is running about and being godly. Just as fire destroys, it leaves behind new life. This aspect of the Fire God is manifested as a scythe. Somewhat ordinary looking, it possesses the power to renew devastated land at a faster pace than nature typically allows.

History

It was impossible to tell how long he'd lain here, dormant in the darkness, squandering the power he still had on surviving, building his power to one day awaken again. Despite this dormant state, something still burned below the broken world above... desire. Desire for vengeance, and an unspeakable rage. One day, he would rise to blister the sky again, and when he did, not even Death himself would stop Chath's rise to power.

So begins...
