Jet Vareli

"Oi, ain't this gonna be a hella'va 'venture?"

0 · 396 views · located in Elenia

a character in “Elenia: Dark Age”, as played by Magix

Description

Appearance:

Image

The pic without the Metal, without the rings, his arm coverings are made of a maneuverable leather and steel at the elbows and the various rings sewn in. He wears a shirt (usually a white one tucked into the leather coverings). He wears the steel plated eye patch over his left eye since it's gone blind from an injury that he rarely talks about.

Name:

Jet Vareli

Age:

29

Gender:

Male

Race:

Lethlian

Power:

Light Gem host

Skills:

Master of Close Quarters combat, including but not limited to Mixed martial arts.

Weapon:

While not a fan of using much weaponry, especially ranged attacks as he sees them as dishonorable, he does use the few weapons he has spent years to develop his skills with.

Dual wielding Trench Knives (shown below), are arguably his most used weapons. While he's not as proficient with them as he is his Katana, he feels it more honorable for him to use them on a lesser skilled opponent. When he draws his Katana with the skull carved into the handle (the skill is seen in his profile pic, while the sword is shown below) against a foe, it signifies both his respect for them as an opponent, and his intent to kill them (or at least deal a near fatal blow).

The Trench Knife, he carries two, one on each side of his belt.
Image

The Katana, he carries this on his back, never to draw it unless he respects the opponents skill level enough to take their life with it. He will refer to it sometimes, as the "Death Omen".
Image

Personality:
No matter what anyone says, he's a fighter at heart. He's a pretty passive guy overall, never really butting heads verbally with people over things that wouldn't matter to him, which is almost everything that would normally piss people off. That doesn't mean that he can't joke around with the best of them however, as he does like to bring a more lighthearted mood around when he doesn't need to be serious.

On the battlefield however, he's like a completely different person. He always takes in his surroundings, but on the battlefield it's almost all he does, other then fight of course. Bound by honor; much like a Samurai; he never attacks even the most dishonorable foe from behind. Only when they know he is there, will he fight them. Almost always will he draw his Trench knives first, and do battle with a new opponent. He only draws his blade, which he appropriately calls "Death Omen", to acknowledge his opponents skill, and 9 times out of 10 to signify his intent to kill. When the opponent is respectable, but he doesn't wish to kill them, he will pull a fatal blow and either just wound them or strike them with the back of the blade. There's quite a few scars on his body, but he's never had the dishonor of a foe landing even a single blow on his back, not that he's been in many all or nothing battles overall.

Bio:

Growing up the only son of an old Dojo master, Jet was always into martial arts. He quickly rose to the challenge of learning many different fighting styles, adapting aspects them into his own personal style. After his father's death while Jet was 20, his mother having her untimely demise in childbirth, Jet found himself alone but never lost his outlook on life. He was considered a master of all his father had taught him, but he still strived to better himself and do more.

Closing down his father's Dojo for a year, he went on a journey across Yarevon, strengthening his mental focus and his endurance. After that he returned home stronger and more mature then before (although sometimes the way he acts may beg to differ). No matter what happens though, he always strives to better himself, keeps his hope and pride in tact, and above all else he never misplaces his sense of honor.

Upon his return to his hometown, he reopened up his fathers Dojo and has been running it quite successfully in his steed. Over the 8 years he's had running it, it's become quite popular, but martial arts is just a dying art and is becoming less and less popular the past few years. About a year or so after returning, he had found a young panther left on the doorsteps of his Dojo, injured and dying. Not knowing where it came from, but not caring much overall he nursed it back to health and had raised it as a pet ever since.

Other:

The Panther, known by it's name of Shadowmere, is extremely loyal, but unless backed into a corner an/or provoked it's as gentle and warm hearted as a normal house cat. The Strong Muscles in it's body allow it to easily carry around Jet and a smaller person for a decent amount of time. If wanted, Jet alone could ride him into battle, but that would leave Shadowmere too vulnerable for Jet to consider normally.

No guts, no glory. Not a common term that a man of Honor frequently throws around. Most likely because the most true honor bound men have no want or need for glory. History has shown many great warriors that come from a humble family, not known outright to most people. Just goes to show you that no matter where you come from, there will always be someone that'll throw you for a loop. You could be born a noble, a carpenter, the son of an inventor perhaps, maybe even a blacksmith or a dock worker. No matter who your parents are, or where you come from, anyone can be better then you are, no matter how they look. However, few realize and remember this fact. Funny how the world works, isn't it?

"One. Two. One. Two. One. Two. One. Two." The same repetitive phrase echoed over and over again. This training however was crucial to early development into martial arts. One used to be able to hear it for miles around the area, but sadly not many people want to train in martial arts anymore. It's mainly become something that kids start when their young, and give up on in favor of becoming a knight later on. Even if they could become an even better, albeit different, knight utilizing it, they still give it up. That's what children tend to do though.

Jet grew up when the voices could be heard from miles. That was back when his father was running things. Sometimes he missed those good ol days. It did make things all the more rewarding though, when someone did decide to stick with it past the beginner classes. It was those special few that got a more hands on experience though, with Jet personally.

There was a different training room in the back for them, and it was currently occupied by Jet, 3 young men and a young lady. They were all in their teens, ranging from 16-19, and currently it was a 4 on 1 sparring match. If you're thinking it doesn't seem quite fair, you'd be absolutely right. They'd need more then 4 to stand a chance. Unfortunately for the trainee's, even with the somewhat advanced training gear for the time, the blows still packed quite the punch.

They surround Jet on three sides, but Jet never let any of them get behind him. That was his one iron clad rule that he always stuck too. That, and the fact that he's never run from a fight, kept his back clear of any scars. The rest of his body, wasn't anywhere near as lucky, his eye especially, having lost use of it. Each scar held a different story, ones he remembered well. Ones that are for another day and time.

Back to the sparring match on hand, punches and kick flew at Jet, which he blocked, easily reading his diciples' moves. This went on for a good ten minutes, Jet parrying their blows, sometimes hitting back with a quick jab forcing the person hit to stumble back and the one unable to get in, rotating in to fill the empty side. Finally as they started to pick up on his movements, he decided to switch it up. They'd have to learn to be quicker in order to get him in the future, though that was something he was confident the 4 of them could do with enough practice.

Jet blocked the punch of the guy on his left, delivering a quick jab to his gut, forcing the guy to fall to one knee. The next was the guy on his left, to which he did the same maneuver with similar results. The final guy tried to deliver a kick as Het took out the other two, but found his leg blocked by the shin of Jet's right leg. Pushing him to the ground, there was just the young woman left standing, who took the offense as the last guy fell. A kick straight for Jet's rib cage, which he was barely able to block using both arms. As he tried to push her back as he did with the guy before, she whipped her other leg around as she tried to swipe to across Jet's face. He was able to arc his back enough to avoid the hit, and then retaliate with a kick of his own as she was caught midair.

The 4 trainee's stood up, defeated once again, but getting better each time. Jet smiled at them and laughed a bit. "Very good, one day I'm sure you'll all be able to beat me one on one. I'm proud of all your hard work. Now rest up, because when you come back again in two days, training will be pushed up to the next level." They all bowed to each other and left as usual. An hour or so later, the Dojo was nearly cleared out, leaving Jet alone. The Dojo would be closed the next three days, in honor of his father's anniversary.

With a sigh as he locked up the Dojo after dinner, taking the weapons he always carried with him, he went straight to his father's grave site. He was buried not too far away, under his favorite tree. Jet's father would always sit under the tree in his free time. Other then the Dojo, it was his favorite place in the world. Jet found himself most days sitting there, just telling stories of what had happened in training that day. He sat next to his father's grave as he began speaking about the four students, and the day's events. When he had placed a hand on his father's grave stone though, something happened. There was a flash of light, and suddenly he found himself in a dark cave.

Jet stood up and looked around the area. It was pretty dark and unnerving. Jet could still use the other senses he trained somewhat after losing his eye and was in danger of losing the other, to at least know if anyone was around and where, but he was in trouble if anyone could see better and wanted to attack him. Then the thought hit him, was he dead? Did he somehow have a heart attack and this was some sort of heaven, hell, or purgatory? No, he didn't think so. He didn't fell dead. Then again, what's it like exactly to feel dead?

"Heroes come in all shapes and sizes. In all races, and from every kingdom. You will be put through a trial, and only by passing said trial can you hope to save yourself and this world. Complete your task, but beware. Things may not always be what they seem. Pass and you will join your future comrades, fail and the cave will claim you as its own forever."

The ominous voice echoed through the cave, and suddenly he was somewhere new. It was still a cave, but better lighted and there was someone standing on the other side of the room. A woman in dark armor. No doubt a Shadelian knight. Jet stood there for just a moment before a voice rang out, in only his head.

"The legend of the gems, you are familiar with the tale, yes? Of course you are, even the young children know of it. You have been chosen as a prospect of being a host. It's a harsh and daunting task though. One that any partake in, will surely regret. That is if they live long enough to regret it. I'll give you a choice though, see that woman over there? Kill her and I'll let you go, free and clear from this.

Jet listened to the voice, but he wasn't about to just listen to some unseen force, to kill someone on it's whim after it describes a children's tale. 'What did that woman do? What makes it alright to kill her, just to save myself from a fate that has been dealt to me?' Jet thought to himself, not sure if that was the proper way to communicate with it or not.

"What did she do, you ask? She's a Shadelian that may dare call herself an ally. A shadelian knight that brings nothing but pain and despair to the world. We're all better off without her, plus you get to return to your life. Would you really prefer to throw your own life away, rather then ending someone's who will likely stab you in the back later? Go and cut off her head before she even knows what hit her. It's better that way."

Jet stood still, his mind set as the voice spoke. 'You want me to kill her, because of her race. You want her dead, because much of her race has made an ill choice to harm the world over helping it. You want me to dishonor myself and kill her in an unfair way, when she doesn't deserve it, all to save myself from a fate you try and paint as bleak. It sounds like an adventure to me, and if your story is true I would gladly put my life on the line to save Elenia. I will not slay that woman. Not now, and not ever, unless she does something to deserve it.'

The shadelian woman disappeared into a cloud of black smoke that rapidly filled the entire cave. It dispersed as quick as it covered the area, but Jet found himself in a new area. There were more people here, but at least they were moving, unlike the last. Jet stood there a moment bewildered by what just went on. Where the hell was he, and what the hell did just happen?

Scarlet sighed a bit as the Sorian came over. It was a bit of relief that someone seemed willing to help, but it was a bit of disappointment in his question as well. What happened before the baby went missing? Well that was just it. How could she possibly explain what had happened, without seeming completely insane? In the end, she just figured just fuck it, she probably already sounded insane anyway. "Okay, well.... There was this beach... and this wave... The Wave got big, then as it came in the beach disappeared... The wave pushed me in and then I ended up here without the baby. I know it sounds crazy, but that's what happened. If the baby is dead, it's my fault. He wanted me to save him, and he was my responsibility, ya know?... Have you seen him anywhere?" Deep down she knew he probably wasnt’t real. She wasn’t so naive to not see through an illusion, but it wasn’t in her to just give it up so easily.

----------

Zet stood still trying to eavesdrop and gather what little info he could. It seemed that the group wasn’t exactly the most talkative bunch. Some chick looking for a baby, that probably wan’t even hers. In fact that was quite obvious for anyone that really noticed her reaction. A mother, especially a young one, would be completely panicked if their child was missing. This girl, seemed concerned, but not worried as a Mother would be. There was an Aquarian girl that seemed to be the weakest in the room, the girl looking for the baby coming in a close second to her. There were quite a few that looked to be more suited for battle, but bringing them together with weaker people didn’t seem to make much sense. Why were they all here? Well unless someone tried to figure this out, they’d possibly never actually make it out.

Zet had too many things he wanted to do with his life then suffer a pathetic death here. He walked forward, and sent Ruby to search the rest of the cave with just a glance and head movement. Turning around he could see the whole group at once. He decided if no one else would actually break the silence to figure out why they were here, he would. They all had to be wondering it, no? He cleared his throat before speaking. “I am Zetisuke, or Zet for short. I have no idea yet why we’re here, but I intend to figure it out. I will not die here. Does anyone else wish to introduce themselves before we move on?” There probably wasn’t any time to waste with beating around the bush. Best to just be straightforward before the magic air disappeared.

----------

Jet sat down against a nearby wall with his sword in his lap, and didn’t move until things started to pick up again. Even then, it was only what seemed for him to be stretching his neck. After Zet spoke he just laughed a bit. “Oi, ye don’t be fuckin’ puillin’ any punches when ye wanna know something, do ya boyo? I like that about ye, so don’t be gettin’ offended.”

Before Jet had the chance to even say anymore his ears were met with a low growling noise. Shifting in the cave structure? No that wasn't even close to this sound. This was an animal like sound almost. Either they weren't the only ones in that cave, or someone was quite hungry. Jet was inclined to believe the former first. His eyes slowly looked around the cave until they spotted a strange glowing shine from one of the shadows. When the light (that was unexplained on how it was even there in the first place, having no seeming oxygen flow to keep the flames lit or any of them breathing for that matter) hit something just right it gave off this glow. To be more precise, it was 2 small somethings. When he looked at them, they seemed to move a bit, disappearing and reappearing with the movements in and out of the light. Finally they started to move closer. Jet readied himself to face the oncoming creature for whatever it may be, without making movement to alarm the whole cave.

As the creature started to become noticeable, Jet had dropped his guard against it and instead started to laugh a bit. He should have recognized those eyes anywhere. "Oi Shadowmere, I see they brought you 'ere too." Said Jet as the panther came from the darkness and rubbed up against Jet's leg as if it were a common house cat. Jet pet it on it's head, clearly the two knew each other, and it sat down next to him.

Jet then turned his attention back to the ballsy Zet. He wore the colors of a well known Noble Lethlian clan. The Krovi clan was famous, or perhaps infamous was the better term. He wasn’t sure if the other races even knew about them though. “Sorry ‘bout that. Me name is Jet. If we be dyin’ ‘ere so be it.” That being said he took a flask out of his pocket, opening it and taking a swig from it. “I just hope we die while I’m locked.”

Scarlet listened to what the Sorian was saying, but it wasn’t anything she didn’t already expect. Still, she had to at least confirm it, right? What if by the off chance the baby was the only real thing? She couldn’t abandon it. Not without a thorough search at least. “I... I know that already. I figured he isn’t real, but there’s still a chance he could have been. I just can’t abandon a defenseless baby without searching, ya know?” As he seemed to snap and extend his hand though, she cringed in a defensive stance for a moment, thinking he was going to strike her for some reason. Embarrassed when she realized he was just introducing himself to her she just smiled a little and shook his hand. “Scarlet Zaion, umm... normal girl. It’s nice to meet you, and I thank you for your help.”

----------

Jet took another swig from the flask as the young aquarian girl came over to him. She couldn’t be more then 15 or 16 years old by the way her face looked and her general demeanor. Of course she was a pretty little thing especially for her age, but Jet could still tell she was rather young. In fact, she looked to be the youngest there among the group. As she began rambling off her questions Jet looked at her for a moment, thinking on how he should answer. He could be funny, and mess with her, though if they were to die in here that would just be terribly mean. In the end he just decided to go straight forward and answer her questions.

“Oi, Shadowmere here is a Black Panther. It be a species only found in Yarevon if memory serves me well enough. Even here though, it’s a rare breed, even rarer to be findin’ any as tamed as Shadowmere. Wouldn’t wanna be pet’in’ one out in the wild. As far as her bitin’, well you’re safe as long as ye don’t piss ‘er off or make ‘er feel threatened. O’course she be pretty protective of me as well. Anythin’ else ye be wantin’ to know Lass?”

Zet stood in the ruins of an old temple. After looking the place over for just a few moments, he knew exactly where they were. He hadn’t come out this far often, but there was one instance in which he had come out this far, and he recollected the area well. This wasn’t one area anyone forgot about easily. Zet walked over to a piece of higher ground, where he could oversee everyone there. That meant they could hear him just as well. They may have pretty much ignored him earlier, but he chalked the rudeness up to the confusing situation there. Now that they knew what was going on.... well, kinda knew.... he expected they’d listen. Well most of them. Well, at least half of them half listening.

Zet cracked his back a bit and stood tall. At least as tall as he could. "Listen up everyone." He said with a loud almost commanding voice. He actually didn’t know if anyone would have a problem with him, but other then maybe the Light host, seeing as he wasn’t sure the extent of the light host’s knowledge of the area, he knew the most about where they were. It was his responsibility as a guardian to protect them all now, and he intended to do as much at the cost of his life if the need arose. "We can't afford to be wandering around at night in these woods. There's a town we can make in a few hours. If we move now, we can get there before nightfall. You don't wanna be caught moving in any of these woods at night if it's unavoidable. Any Lethlian worth their salt knows that."

Zet stepped down from the high ground, as Ruby landed on his shoulder. Well now all that was left to see how they replied. Hopefully, things would go smoothly, though with this ragtag bunch, who knew really.

----------

Scarlet was completely offended by the ass hole of a gem host that she had as her guide. Although she had little time to voice her complaints, she had plenty of them. She wasn’t a weak little girl. She had a good mind to kick that ghost’s ass.... if one could kick a Ghost’s ass..... Who was she kidding, he was probably right. She didn’t have extensive training like some of the others clearly did. Soon enough though, they were move once more. God did she hope that they’d stop teleporting them all randomly. It was annoying and making her feel sick.

After standing for a moment, she realized something. This wasn’t just the teleporting that was making her feel sick. She really did feel like shit all of a sudden. Her body became sort of heavy, she was terribly dizzy, and she tried her best to keep from losing all she had eaten.... ever. What kind of magic was this? To be fine one minute, and the next feel like you’re on death’s door and have been for a while. How could she possibly save anyone like this?

In actuality, Scarlet was just spiking a fever that was rapidly increasing to near borderline death for most, and the other symptoms were just as a result of it. Hard to think about any of that when you can barely stand though. She stood still, trying to take in everything that happened, that was going on, and all that, but it was tough. Maybe she was dreaming? Maybe she was dead. Maybe she just lost her damn mind. Yeah, the latter was probably the most likely thing. She was just nuts, and would probably die alone, because she was so bonkers. Could be worse though. How she didn’t know, but damn it could be worse.

Sitting down, thanks to gravity, she closed her eyes. if she really focused and tried to tell herself she was okay, it could dull the symptoms enough for her to at least concentrate on her fucked up world insider her now insane mind. if she was gonna die, well at least she’d wanna know how, and why.

----------

Jet didn’t say much the whole time. Of course he accepted the gem and the responsibility. Although to be fair, he was partially drunk and not even sure if that was real. Once outside they all kind of began to regain their sense of what was going on, though Jet was kind of at a disadvantage for that. When he looked around he didn’t see with his typical sight. Bright spots were like staring into the sun while wearing night vision goggles. Dark spots were a darker black then he had known to exist. In the moderately lit areas he could kind of make out shapes, but with depth perception completely off. He ended up slamming his eyes shut.

Shadowmere rubbed against his leg, so he leaned on her and pet her head. “Oi Shadowmere, bring me to tha nearest person ye find.” Maybe someone there could help shed some light on his problem. At this point the only vision he had that wasn’t painful, was complete darkness.

----------

Monroe sat on the ground, meditating through most of that entire ordeal. Yes he accepted his fate, and yes he would fight to his full extent. However, there wasn’t a need to give up his beliefs either. He would fight, he would win, and he would keep his inner peace, while hopefully bringing peace to the outer world as well. When he was through meditating, he went to stand up. That’s when he realized it, his feet and arms felt like they had 2 tons of weigh strapped to each of them. Maybe 2 tons is a bit of an exaggeration, but even for the brute that he was, he had trouble lifting them and moving. After a short time, he was finally able to get to his feet, but it was quite the task. He saw the shadelian host nearest to him. He noticed her limping before, so decided to go over to her.

Eventually making it near her, he flopped onto the ground, leaning against a tree. Of course, 450 lbs doesn’t fall to the ground without a sound, so he may have even woken the sleeping girl up by just sitting down. “Excuse me.” he cleared his throat before going on. “Miss, excuse me. I saw you limping before, and there seems to be some blood on your armor. It’s dried, but not old enough to have been from a past wound. Maybe you should get it checked out by one of the others. I saw the Sorian guardian help the Pyrian guardian earlier. I actually saw the Pyrian guardian going through her sack, which looked like medical supplies as well. I could be wrong, but I would think that at least one of them could help you. I doubt the old hosts wouldn’t have retrieved a medic to go along with us.”

Monroe sat still in his meditation. In fact he was so still, if not for the small movements of his chest from breathing, it wouldn't have been out of the question to wonder if he had died right there. As Arienna began to apologize however, he broke his meditation and just looked up at her. "Do not think another thing of it. It is frustrating times that have fallen upon us, these gems not helping the situation either. I never was one that knew when advice was unwarranted. In the future I will try to hold it back, unless you come looking for it. I cannot say I won't offer it again by mistake, but I will try."

Monroe didn't want to piss any of them off, yet his advice did have that effect more often then he'd like to admit. He did notice the way some were moving through the area. It seemed like they should get moving soon. That meant time to try and get up. Monroe closed his eyes, focusing on lifting his limbs, one at a time. After a while he got one arm up and leaned it on the nearest tree. He'd use that to get the rest of his body up and moving.

----------

Scarlet followed Arienna, though she was still having difficulty standing, let alone walking after her without zigzagging everywhere. She smiled when Ari apologized, although she still knew that it wasn't exactly genuine. Baby steps though. She didn't expect Ari to change because of a ten minute conversation after all. When Ari finally looked at her, Scarlet gave a reassuring smile and a small nod. She apologized, so they didn't have to stay there anymore. "We'll leave you alone now." Scarlet said, peeking out from behind Ari, and grabbing onto her arm. She made it seem like she was starting to pull her away, or at least tried to make it seem like that. In reality she was using Ari to balance herself and stay standing. This walk was going to be more difficult then she thought.

----------

Zet did want to know what she meant, but he wouldn't push the issue. After all, that's what he got upset about more or less. As she started walking off, to only realize she had no idea where she was going, he just laughed a bit and sighed to himself. She did seem like she was going to be trouble, but a trouble he didn't mind at all. "Why don't you hold your horses and let me lead once everyone is ready? After all we wouldn't want to be split into groups and get attacked by Bandits, Bears, or any other animals in the woods, would we?" he walked over to Kass pulling her away from the forest a bit, and rubbing his hand on her arm, trying to warm her up a bit, though he doubted it helped. "We'll get there soon enough, okay?"

----------

Jet nodded as Ven made sure he was the light host. His next question was an odd one, but Jet didn't mind if the young girl rode on Shadowmere. "I'm sure Shadowmere won't mind, will ye girl?" Shadowmere purred a bit, which meant she didn't. Jet then nodded to Ven (even though he was facing the woods), although in reality he didn't know who the hell he was even talking too. "Umm... Don't think me rude or nothin' but who are ye? I don't be knowing voices yet, and lack of vision really dampens me ability to tell one from another. Oh and I can be fightin' without me eyes just fine.... At least if I was alone. Blind doesn't 'xactly let me tell friend from foe though."

You wouldn’t be able to believe how relieved Scarlet was as Ari put her arm around her to balance her. She tried not to show it much though. As soon as they were away from the others and Ari asked if the Gem was still plaguing her Scarlet just smiled putting on a brave face. “The what? Oh that silly old thing? No way, I got over that ages ago. I feel fit as a fiddle now. Like I could take on Rune’s army by myself!” Of course as she finished her statement she immediately pulled away from Arienna to go throw up in a nearby bush. After she was finished, she stumbled back over and leaned on Ari once more. “Okay... maybe a little....”

Zet could only shake his head at Kass’ story about the bears. It was a little amusing to be perfectly honest. When he hard her start sniffling though, he turned around to look at her. She was crying... instantly he felt guilty about it. “Don’t cry Kass, I don’t mean any offense to you by pulling you away from the woods. I just don’t want you to get hurt... Not that I couldn’t protect you from everything in there, because I can. Or maybe I hurt you pulling you away too hard... I’m sorry, please don’t cry...”

Jet held Shadowmere showing her that it was okay as Ven loaded Nadanna onto her back. It was by far from the heaviest load she’d ever held before. “Oi, inventer ye say? Well that be soundin’ like somethin’ I don’t know ‘bout. Shadowmere ‘ere normally could be of help in guiding me, but she’s kind of preoccupied now.” He reached out and grabbed onto Ven’s wing, glad he remembered names well enough with the brief experience they had earlier. “I hope ye don’t mind if I just hold onto yer wing to follow ye.”

Scarlet tried to smile coyly, but Ari was correct. Still, she didn’t like worrying anyone. “I’m sorry... I just... I don’t want people to think I’m weak... Especially after the shit that ass hole said back in the cave. Insulting me... The gem picked me, so obviously it has better taste then him...” She leaned on Arienna, and crossed her arms in a childish manner. As Ari held out the water, Scar took it, and reluctantly drank a bit. After throwing up so much, she was weary and not wanting anything in her anymore, but Ari was right, so she trusted her judgment. Handing the water back to Ari, she smiled a little. “Thank you for the water... I’m alright, I think. I just may need to lean on you for a while... if that’s okay?”

Zet froze as she started talking. He honestly wasn’t ready for that at all. What should he say?.... What could he say?.... Guess he’d just have to wing it. “Things happen Kass... Don’t blame yourself. You said it was a hunter that killed it, well what exactly do you think that hunter was out there for? What exactly do you think the bears do for food? It’s basic instinct to kill. To survive... it’s almost a necessity. Kill or be killed. Kill to eat. Kill to protect your loved ones. Kill to protect your people. People... Animals... No matter what race or species, we all kill something. Weather it’s plants, or other creatures, we all kill for our own purposes. Parents lose their children, children lose their parents or their siblings, it’s life. Wipe your tears.” Zet walked over to her, and removed her hands from her eyes, wiping her eyes with his own two hands. “We’re at war Kassidy. We have to kill, or we’ll all die ourselves. If we die, so does the rest of Elenia. It’s the lesser of two evils... Survival of the fittest. You’re a kind and gentle spirit, however you can’t go on and feel bad for everyone we have to kill. If we do our jobs right, then we’ll have to kill many. Otherwise the people that can’t fight for themselves will suffer. Eleina will burn at the hands of Rune’s army. People, animals, all united in one giant massacre. No body wins then, and everyone loses people they love. So dry your tears, for we all need to be tough. For the sake of Elenia.”

Zet looked up at the sky and then back at Kass, before she even could respond. “Hang on a minute, we can continue this as we walk.” Zet stood up, on the elevated hill nearby, and called out to the group. “Everyone we can afford no more time for rest. I can make it to the town in 4 hours by myself, however with the current situation we’re in, we’d be lucky to make it in 7-8. Sundown is in 6 hours. We have to move now, so everyone please follow me. I’ll only walk at a pace that everyone can keep up with.”

Jet felt a little bad as Ven seemed to have such a negative reaction to him touching his wing. How would he have possibly known though? After all, the other race’s reaction to things weren’t exactly a common thing studied. They had their own lands for a reason. “Me apologies boyo. Yer shoulder will be fine. I suppose we will be a unit like a family. I don’t be havin’ a family meself, so it may be nice. Sounds like we all be needing to get movin’ though, so lead the way. Shadowmere will follow close, and I’ll be holdin’ on to ye.”

About 3 hours later they all continued on. They had made it almost half way. They’d make it to the town a little after dark at this rate, providing they kept the same pace. Something that seemed more difficult for some then others. Scarlet was still on her own two feet, but without Arienna to lean on, wouldn’t be moving at all. Monroe, though he didn’t show it, was having great difficulty moving forwards. There wasn’t much he couldn’t lift usually, and having his own limbs now being one of them, was quite the difficult task. Jet was moving along fine, holding onto Ven’s shoulder the whole time. Zet, still leading the group, hated moving so slow. Of course at least making sure Kass was okay, made it more tolerable.
