Appearance: Philip Jarrett stands six foot six inches from the ground, built nearly entirely of muscle, and oozes commanded respect from every pore. He has no hair on his head and wears nothing but his captain's uniform, save when it's time to sleep. He carries a sword at his hip, and a pistol at his other, though they are both mainly for deterrent use. His uniform is adorned with a ship's steering wheel pierced by a sword, signifying his rank.
Personality: Jarrett is a hard man, accepting no failures on any part, least of all his own. Having grown up serving in the Polish military, he shows little compassion, though he has a soft spot for children, having lost his own daughter to Armageddon.

History (before and after Earth's destruction): Before the destruction of the planet, Jarrett grew up the son of a commanding officer in the Polish military. Since the day he was old enough to comprehend the terms "military" and "armed forces", Philip knew he wanted to follow in the footsteps of his father, who was his hero. He enlisted as soon as age would permit.
In the military, he served diligently, rising through the ranks relatively quickly. He was forced to take leave for a time, however, as his world was rocked by the death of his hero-father.
After his loss, Jarrett became a hard man, sharp as needles. He was wounded putting down a large-scale riot, and while healing in an infirmary someplace, he met who he believed to be the love of his life. The two shared many passionate nights, but it wasn't to last. He was forced to return to service upon healing completely.
Nearly a year later, the woman sought him out, carrying with her a beautiful baby girl. Philip Jarrett could not have been happier.
A promotion followed, causing the man to fly into cloud nine; he didn't think his life could become any better.
The promotion was followed by the invitation to command one of the Great Arks, a decision he made without knowledge of the consequences. He was sent into space, boarded the Great Ark Luna, and saw to the structure's completion and systems checks. Shortly after, he learned he was among the few chosen to live, that his family was not, and there was no turning back. Military training and years of hard life kicked in. He was present when the passengers arrived; he watched as the planet was impacted and eradicated.
Two years later, Jarrett still mourns the loss of literally his world. He often finds himself in a trance-like state, staring into the spatial void, hopeless and despairing. He once harbored hope for the colonies' futures, but no longer.
