Rose had a hard childhood, being forced to watch her father abuse her mother at night after he'd come home drunk and angry. She had once tried to stop him and he smacked her in the face so hard that she bled. She didn't tell anyone about it, but one day, her father was arrested. He blamed Rose, telling her that she had told the police, and when he got out of prison, she'd pay, but he ended up dying there in prison. Now, she lives with her mother in a small apartment and does everything she can to help her out. Rose works at a local bookstore, and enjoys the quiet nights when she works reading (the bookstore has slow business) and helping customers.

Rose has a sweet and loving personality, and she is willing to help out anyone who needs it. She can, however be a bit selfish at times and loves having attention. She's sweet, mostly so people like her, but at times she can be bossy and rude, and not really care about other people's feelings. That side of her personality is triggered mostly because of her popularity. High social status gives her more confidence, and that confidence assures her that she can be mean, and still be adored, though in reality, she just wants someone to care about her. She needs the constant attention to make her feel wanted, so she does all she can to attract attention by looking beautiful, and hanging out with the right (wrong) people. She can come off as a snob at times, but really, its a mask, the real her (if you manage to get to it) is a sweet, loving girl who needs to know that she's loved. Rose is really just trying to find the love that her father never gave her as a child.
