Escaping - Jazz has a special gift for getting out of things, whether that mean places or situations, and this gift has been developed over the years. She can find her way out of nearly anything, physical or otherwise. A natural escape artist, her methods are often creative and effective. Perhaps this talent doesn't say much for her personality, painting her as someone who tries to escape her life, but it comes in handy quite often, so she doesn't mind.
Intelligence - The young woman is as quick as a whip, with a sharp tongue to match. She can certainly hold her own in any battle of wits, and doesn't allow herself to be caught in a web of ignorance very often. Jazz makes a point of knowing what is going on around her, because she dislikes the idea of things happening that affect her without her having any control over them whatsoever. It's a very frightening concept, helplessness.
Dance - Jazz has been dancing ever since she was younger, though it began with ballet and eventually turned over to swing dancing and the charleston. She loves the older dances, the social sort that require improvisation and a natural sense for how to move in tune with one's partner. They lack the discipline of ballet or tap, but have these unspoken rules all their own. She still takes ballet, figuring that it would be a shame to quit now, but lacks interest in it.
Weaknesses
Stubborn - Jazz has always been a very stubborn young woman, the sort who refuses to accept help from others, as though the act of accepting help is one which puts her at the mercy of another. On the rare occasions when she does accept help, she will go to any length to repay the person, even if it comes off as irritating. Besides this, she tends to be very strong-minded, and never knows when it's time to give up, often landing herself in tight situations.
Music - The young woman is, and always has been, somewhat tone deaf. She can't manage to make any instrument sound anywhere near decent, and her singing voice is atrocious- a strange contrast to the rest of the members of the academy, most of whom appear to be more musically inclined. Whether it be piano, violin, voice, or flute, she is so terrible that it should almost be considered a talent. It takes skill to be that bad at music, after all.
Claustrophobia - Claustrophobia is a common phobia, widely recognized as being the fear of small, closed off spaces. Jazz has a severe case of claustrophobia, the only limit on her adventurous tendencies. When trapped in a small space, she tends to hyperventilate and freak out, her mind going cloudy and her head feeling dizzy. In many occasions, she has passed out. Needless to say, she steers clear of closets, little rooms, and other such places.
Jazz has, like most people, a personality with many angles and sides, like the facets of a gemstone. They all make up the same person, of course, even if one doesn't notice the entirety of the picture until they step back and their focus lessens so that the little pinpoints of detail are less important. Someone who did such a thing, took a step back, would see a girl who craves adventure and freedom like a child craves affection. Jazz constantly seems to be moving, never one for idle time, but rarely makes plans about where she is going. For someone so intelligent, she is foolishly impulsive, and prefers spur of the moment ventures over things methodically planned out from hours in advance. That simply isn't her style of doing things, because she considers it to be very dull indeed. Rather, improvisation and creative means are her favorite weapons, and she has come to wield them like familiar weapons against boredom and monotony. Her intelligence lends her an active mind that is constantly observing and absorbing, even if she doesn't always notice the important things, and that active mind is quick to react, making her ideal in situations that haven't gone according to plan. Of course, she can be completely unreliable in ordered situations, and is the one most likely to break protocol and go off on her own, but she usually figures things out in the end. Usually.
Despite an impulsive and confident nature, Jazz is no optimist. Quite the opposite, in fact. She doesn't believe on relying on others because things tend to fall through that way, and can be surprisingly distrustful beneath her jokes and banter. As far as she is concerned, the best way to have something done is to do it yourself, because otherwise one will only end up disappointed. She isn't a perfectionist, but is independent to a fault, and absolutely despises feeling in debt to a person. When she does feel that she owes someone something, she will do whatever possible to resolve the debt, even if it annoys both her and the person she is trying to repay, until the issue has been completely finished and all loose ends are tied up. It's just her way of doing things. One might find it strange that such an impulsive person would be such a realist, but she discards the idea of formulating plans ahead of time because she is a pessimist. She expects that things will never go according to plans, and criticizes those who study a plan too thoroughly as being far too reliant on a theoretical situation. She can be rather hardheaded in this situation, ignoring the benefits of strategy and preferring the maneuverability of making it up as she goes along.
As far as her relations with other people go, Jazz is a rather friendly, if sarcastic and fast paced, person, and only has trouble befriending those who she considers too slow. There is nothing that the young woman despises more than a person who simply can't manage to keep up with her- it's simply bothersome, as far as she is concerned. But if a person can keep up, or is worth her slowing down for, then she can be a good enough friend, though she's unlikely to rely on them and, likewise, dislikes being relied on. Still, a friend can count on her intervening in a fight, and is safe in the knowledge that she abhors gossip with a passion, and won't hesitate to drop a drink down the head of anyone who speaks poorly of them behind their back. For all of her independence and pessimism, she does have a sense of loyalty and affection for those she has become fond of.
