Valkyom... A Castle-City surrounded by wide open plains and rolling hills in all directions. Mountains in the background to east as southeast with a large lake looming in the distance to the northeast. The city beneath the majesty of the castle was abustle with activity and preparations for a celebration following the official declaration of whom the princess's new groom would be. The princess would walk through the streets to the gates where she would board a fine carriage with her new fiancé and be taken to her new home wherever it was that he resided. The streets were lined with decorations and celebratory candles which would light the way for the princess and her groom as a final loving send-off from the people to their beloved princess.
Large metal gates barred the outside world from entering the castle itself, and the courtyard in front of the castle entrance was crawling with guards. There were no chances being taken, as the princess was considered a national treasure by both commoner, noble and royal alike. Her marriage was a sacred event which all would work hard to protect at all costs, and one rather unique individual within the castle was no exception.
Within the castle Ballroom were over five hundred guests, all of whom were invited to join this most wondrous event. A magnificent chandelier hung from the ceiling to light the entire room with beautiful red drapes covering the windows and an equally beautiful red carpet leading from the ground level to the upper level where the king and queen sat together side by side as they engaged in conversation with other royals and nobles who had come to join in the festivities. Numerous tables throughout the room allowed those who wished to sit a place to be while others walked about the room and engaged in lively conversation with anyone they found. A dance floor in the center of the room would play a vital role very soon, but for now was not but a walkway while those in attendance went about their business. A string of food and drink tables bordered the stairway leading to the upper level where the royal families exchanged words, and numerous guards were posted at various locations throughout.
"Sir Kyero, the guards outside report nothing unusual. Shall we continue our sweep?" Asked a guard of a young man standing with his back to the east wall and his arms crossed in front of his chest.
"Yes, continue sweeping the area. Any signs out of the ordinary such as unfamiliar footprints, disturbances in foliage, strange sounds... Anything. You report it immediately. Understood?" The youth asked.
"Sir!" The guard responded with a salute.
The guard trotted off as the young man uncrossed his arms and began walking around the room. His shirt was a deep charcoal grey coloration and was fairly loose to his frame with a simple collar and a line of buttons running down the length of his chest and stomach just off the center to the right side. The sleeves were also loose and open towards the wrist, and he wore a pair of loose fitting black pants with black boots. A red sash covered his waist with a red bandana around his head to keep his bangs out of his eyes which shone with a deep green coloration. His shoulders were broad, his frame athletic, and his stride purposeful and dignified. Such an arrangement of clothing was not unusual among those who took body guard work, but what struck many who saw him was how young he was. Most who took such work were in their mid to late 30's, but this youth was still in his early twenties at most.
As he circled the room he kept an eye out for anyone suspicious while also keeping an eye on the upper level to make sure the royal family was safe. The princess was up there with her parents and would likely descend before long to mingle with the crowd, and when she did he'd have his eye on her to make sure nobody of "interest" came too close. As a gesture of courtesy, it was understood that the princess was to be given a minimum of three feet of space at all times, but at such an event it was a certainty that there'd be at least a few who would break this rule in an effort to get as close as possible. It wasn't every day that anyone, even nobility, got to see the princess of Valkyom let alone speak with her. While it was unlikely to take place given the princess's known sense of duty, the princess did have the right to refuse any and all of her potential grooms. This fact gave many within Valkyom's nobility hope, especially those invited to this event. If they had the chance to meet the princess and plead their case to her convincingly, they hoped that she may yet become interested in a son of their family name and marry him instead.
Kyero had no intention of letting the nobility get closer than they were culturally allowed, especially with such ludicrous and selfish thoughts governing their words and actions. Whenever the princess chose to come down, he'd be watching to make sure the nobles kept their respective distance.
