Personality: Sarah acts like a completely normal girl at school and whenever she's not at home. She gets good grades, has a few friends, appears charming and easy going and in general is well liked by her peers. And if you never try and get close to her, you may just always think of her that way and never anything more.All it takes is a careful look in her eyes and you'll see a girl who has cried more than a lifetime worth of tears and is on the edge of breaking down. She has taught herself to trust no one and lives in a sort of constant fear, literally flinching if anyone even just reaches towards her. However, Sarah loves talking to people and making new friends. She tries to have a great time at school to make up for her situation at home. She likes to help people and give them advice, lots of people think of her as the girl who can cheer anyone up. She only wishes that was the case with her parents. She feels so helpless about their situation and considers herself a failure. She's ashamed of herself for not doing anything about it so she hides this part of her life in fear of how people will judge her.

Family: Camille Henríquez, her mother who is in a mental hospital for severe schizophrenia, hallucinations, and anxiety attacks. Her father, Richard Henríquez, a heavy drinker who hasn't been taking care of his daughters ever since his wife had to leave and will beat the pulp out of either of them if they just slightly get in his way. And then her nine year old sister Danielle Henríquez, who Sarah would die for. She protects her fiercely and has been more like a mother to her than an older sister, ever since their parents stopped caring for them. Sarah has been trying to find a safe place for her to stay while things get sorted out because if anything ever happened to her, she doesn't know what she'd do.
History: Sarah's family moved from Chile just a year before her younger sister was born. Her parents never found the greatest of jobs but it was barely enough for them to afford living in their dumpy basement suite. They were living right on the verge of poverty, but for a long time, their life was normal, even happy. Sarah loved watching her little sister grow up and her parents loved seeing how well the two got along. After Danielle finished kindergarten, Sarah's mom wanted to get a better job so she went to university to get a degree as an operating room technician. Meanwhile, her father had gotten promoted so the family was making a decent amount of money and they moved out to a house, nothing incredibly nice, but it was a place to call their own. With her father growing more and more successful at his job, he found he had extra money to use how he liked, and he liked to drink it all away. The alcohol made him act violent and hostile, like a completely different person. Sarah's mom started to have anxiety attacks and major breakdowns because of the combined stress of school, and her husbands new habits. It only took a turn for the worse when she failed to graduate, and then days later found out her sister was killed in a car accident back in Chile. She absolutely lost it, and after starting to act dangerously unpredictable and sometimes violent, the psychologist said a hospital was the best choice for her. No one knew anything of their fathers dangerous nature, no one ever questioned if it was right to leave them with him.
The previous summer, when Sarah's neighbour offered her some drugs, she didn't even hesitate to accept them, she was desperate for something to give her at least a momentary escape from her troubled life. After all, it's not like her dad would ever notice or even care, and if he did, how could he criticize her? He wasn't so perfect either...
