Ashley woke up right as she saw the blur of her fiance whirl out of the bathroom. "Babe?" She groaned tiredly, wondering where the was going on his day off. She'd had the whole day planned out to where they were going to have a fun time for once, but his 'work' got in the way... as always.

"Baby, not again! You just canceled 'unexpectedly' on me last weekend. Our wedding is in a week, Spencer!" She growled, and ran a hand through her hair aggravated, and now standing in the door way, in her silky dress pajamas. They were a vibrant purple, and were ruffly from chest down.

Spencer stopped in his tracks when he heard Ashley, slowly turning back to face her. "I'm sorry baby." He said, walking over to her, wrapping his arms around her waist as he looked down at her. "I'll make it up to you, I promise. How about I stop by Benye's on my way home?" He said, leaning down to kiss her cheek. "I'll be back before you know it. I promise." He said smiling at her, his lips moving from her cheek to her lips, kissing her softly. He hoped she'd understand, he hates it when she's upset with him.

Spencer sighed, watching Ashley walk into the bathroom and slam the door. He ran a hand through his hair, shaking his head slowly. He would much rather be here, at home with Ashley, but it's not like he worked in a nine to five at office, doing work that didn't really matter to anyone. What he did, it affected other people's lives, it could mean life or death for others. "I love you," He called out to Ashley before turning and walking out the door.

Spencer pulled up to what looked like an abandoned building, but inside it was abuzz with many other agents. "What's going on?" Spencer asked the captain as he walked into the building. "You remember that drug ring you brought down a couple months ago?" His captain said. "Yeah, what about it?" Spencer asked. "Well, the boss's trial was to start today. And, um, well, he broke out on transit." The captain said. Spencer's eyes widened. "What!?" He demanded. "I know, I know. I was just as pissed when I heard the news." The captain said, pinching the bridge of his nose. "You knew this and you called me away from my fiance!? You know what he's threatened!" Spencer bellowed, clearly extremely pissed off. He turned to leave but the captain stopped him. "Cooper! You need to think about the bigger picture here. We need to find him, get him off the streets." The man said.

Spencer gritted his teeth, "You have a hell of a lot more agents than just me. Have one of them find him. My family comes first. And now, my fiance is in danger. Try to stop me one more time and I'm going to put you on your ass." He said, shoving past the captain and out of the building. He grabbed his cellphone from his pocket as he rushed to his car, dialing Ashley's number. "Come on baby, pick up." He muttered as he slipped into the car and started it up.

"Ashley, where ar-" Spencer started to say, but she was gone before he could even finish the sentence. She'd said she was fine, but he could tell by her voice and the extremely short conversation, that was not the case. 'Where is she?' He thought to himself as he pulled into traffic, tires squealing. He went by the house first, but found it empty. He cursed loudly as he ran back out and into his car once more, trying to think of where else she might. 'She'd said she was going to take the carriage ride by herself.' He thought as he started driving again.

Spencer pulled away from the house and merged into traffic, his mind reeling, trying to figure out what to do. He passed by the police station and saw a lot of officers rushing out and into their cars. He raised a curious eyebrow and followed the officers. When they stopped at a carriage, Spencer's heart dropped, thinking about Ashley. He threw his car in park and jumped out, running toward the carriage. "Ashley!" He yelled, avoiding the officers who tried to stop him from getting close to the carriage.

Spencer followed the ambulance to the hospital. The captain tried to call him, but he ignored it, his attention focused on his fiance. He paced back and forth in the waiting room until the doctor came out to tell him he could see her. He quickly down the hallway and into her room. "Ashley." He said, as he walked into the room, the worry clear on his face. He walked over and sat down in the chair by her hospital bed, taking a hold of her hand. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." He murmured over and over again, kissing her hand.

Spencer frowned at Ashley's words. "I'm sorry, baby." He said again, not sure what else to say. It broke his heart to see her like this. "I should have been there with you. This shouldn't have happened. I'm so sorry." He said, a pleading look in his eyes, needing her to forgive him. His phone rang for what seemed like the hundredth time, and again he ignored it.

"Cooper, we need you to come in." His captain said. "No, forget it. Right now, my fiance needs me. If you hadn't fucked up in the first place none of this shit would have happened!" He snapped, hanging up the phone and slipping it back into his pocket. He sighed in aggravation, running a hand through his hair, trying to calm himself down.

Spencer was finally able to gain his composure enough to walk back into Ashley's hospital room. He froze in the door way, looking at her. He yelled for a nurse and two came running as he walked over to Ashley, taking her hand, squeezing it tightly. "Everything is going to be ok baby." He murmured, tears stinging his eyes as the nurses worked on her.

Spencer sat down in the chair once more, holding onto his fiance's hand. "I'm not going anywhere, baby, I promise." Spencer had moved to lay down on the hospital bed with her, an arm wrapped around her, holding her close as he still held her hand. The nurses had told him visiting hours were over an hour ago, but he refused to leave his fiance's side. At Ashley's question, he hesitated. He'd thought about having children and he loved the idea, but he didn't want to put them in danger the way he did with Ashley, it would destroy him if any of the criminals he put away used his children to get to him. "Yeah, I'd like that, some day." He said gently.

He closed his eyes, but couldn't fall asleep, he had to keep watch over her, even in this hospital he didn't feel safe. He wouldn't put it past the man to shot her to come back and try to finish the job.

As hard as he tried to stay awake, he'd ended dozing off to sleep around 11pm. He woke up with a start, glancing around the room quickly, making sure they were still safe before his eyes landed on Ashley, seeing the tears in her eyes. He ran a hand through her hair before gently wiping the tears from her eyes. "It's ok baby, I'm right here." He murmured quietly, assuming she must have had a nightmare since they were still alone in the room.

Spencer kissed her once more before slowly pulling back and resting his head on the pillow once more. He knew Ashley wanted to wait until after they were married before letting him go all the way with her, and he was ok with that. He loved her enough to wait for her, he never once pressured her to go farther than she was comfortable with, but he was definitely looking forward to their wedding night. "Get some sleep baby." Spencer had waken up early, by his stomach growling since he hadn't really eaten much of anything the day before. He walked to the diner on the corner and got some breakfast for him and Ashley. When he walked back into the room, he saw Ashley was already awake. "Morning beautiful." He said with a smile as he sat down on the chair by her bed, setting the to go containers on the table. "I went and got us some breakfast." He said, opening the Styrofoam containers for her.

"Oh," Spencer said with a small chuckle, grabbing one of the containers of food so Ashley didn't have to carry them both and took a hold of her hand. He kissed the side of her head before leading the way out of the room and out to his car where he helped her into the passenger seat, passing the other container of food to her once she was in. He went around got behind the wheel, starting it up and backing out of the parking spot. "Anywhere you wanna go? Or just home?" He asked, glancing over at his fiance, a smile on his lips.
