Physical Description: A young man with shaggy black hair (and a blue highlight), as well as the forearms, paws, tail, and ears of a wolf. Wears a blue scarf, a black undershirt, dark short leggings, a narrow toga-like garment, guards on his arms and legs, and a mask obscuring his face.
Personality: Unlike the coy, taunting Red, Derecho is blunt and serious. He doesn't tolerate any fooling around in his team, especially not when there's an urgent situation at hand. His cool nature seems to have rubbed off on Red at times, just as her fiery nature tends to rub off on him.
History: A ninja hailing from Beistal, the capitol of the animas (beast-humans). He currently leads the Seven Groves, the top seven ninjas of anima-kind. There have been a couple of sightings of him spying on any soldiers on the move in Mystome's mainland. For Red, he looked all too familiar - her uncle, Corset Hood, was killed by a black-furred wolf anima. Needless to say, the two initially don't like each other one bit - Red dislikes Derecho because she thinks he's the murderer, and Derecho dislikes Red because her actions before gave away the positions of him and his men. However, if the war campaign is to be stopped, the two would have to trust each other and work together.
Equipment: Comes armed with his katana Shingetsu. When in sync with his wind chakra, it vibrates at a minute level, allowing it to cut through tougher guards. The vibrations can be amped up to create an otherworldly noise that would knock out anyone that isn't synched to its frequency.
Abilities: He has trained in the art of wind chakra - unlike magic, animas' chakra is dependent on the user's physical and spiritual strength only, and is mainly attributed to certain elements. In his case, he can manipulate the air for various attacks (and stealthy tricks). He is also trained slightly with shadow chakra, essential for the best of Beistal's ninjas for evasive combat. Enough training has given him access to audio chakra, an extension of wind chakra that allows him to manipulate sound.
Other: Drive in battle can allow him to take on the form of a blue wolf humanoid (such is called a Pulse). In this state, his strength and agility increase twofold.
Specific Moves
- Tsukinami: A charged blade strike that emits a wave of otherworldly noise.
- Shade Blur: A chakra that makes his body's molecules vibrate to the point of seeming intangible, allowing him to zip forth unharmed. Takes focus and energy to pull off.
- Wind Howl: Wind chakra. Casts a rush of wind forth, pushing foes away from himself.
- Tornado: Wind chakra. Spins about in a vortex of wind. Good for defense.
- Vacuum Cut: Wind chakra. Creates a swirling ball in midair, sucking projectiles to it.
- Sonic Gale: Wind chakra. Dashes forth quickly by the wind, slashing with his blade.
- Garoutokkan: Wind chakra. Charges forth while armored in swirling winds.
- Blurry Moon: Shadow chakra. Warps forth, leaving behind a flurry of shadow slashes.
- Eclipse Edge: Shadow chakra. Casts forth a wave of shadow, which gets bigger as it travels outward.
- Stealth Bomber: Shadow chakra. Plants a focus in the ground, which then becomes invisible. If a foe happens to come near it, it will explode.
- Blind Blow: Shadow chakra. Unleashes a strike that applies shadows to the foe's eyes, obscuring their vision with darkness.
- Garoukaru: Shadow chakra. Appears invisible and stays still. If a foe comes near, he'll reappear, unleashing a surprise strike of shadow.
- White Noise: Audio chakra. Casts a noise field around himself through his blade, stunning or even KOing anyone else.
- Sleeper Note: Audio chakra. Vibrates his blade with a mysterious tune that inflicts sleep to those that hear it.
- Noise Cancel: Audio chakra. This effect mutes all sound from him, allowing him to approach foes practically unnoticed.
- Alert Bell: Audio chakra. Places a vanishing focus nearby. If an enemy comes in proximity to it, it will unleash a loud ringing, paralyzing the foe and alerting others to his/her presence.
- Garounari: Audio chakra. Unleashes an adrenaline-fueled howl, stunning foes and inspiring courage in allies.

Trivia
- Derecho's name comes from a powerful straight-wind storm capable of carrying many thunderstorms, tornadoes, and rainfalls. "Vena" is Latin for "wind".
- His serious, methodical attitude contrasts heavily with Red's hot-blooded behavior. This derives from the trope "Red Oni, Blue Oni", in which Derecho is the Blue Oni.
- Ironically, he shares the basic color of Leonardo, the level-headed leader of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
- His use of wind chakra is reference to the Big Bad Wolf, who blew down two of the houses of the Three Little Pigs with a mighty breath.
- "Shingetsu" is Japanese for "new moon". The kanji symbol on its grip means "moon".
- Derecho's outfit has elements of attires from ancient Greece and Japan.
- The execution of his charged attack, Tsukinami, is similar to how the No More Heroes character Shinobu casts the Sonic Sword attack.
- The purpose of the Alert Bell is derived from tripwire traps lined with bells, which alert one to intruders.
- His three strongest skills contain "garou", which means "hungry wolf". "Tokkan" means "charge/rush", "karu" means "to hunt", and "unari" means "roar/howl".
