Description
Name: Azjaaneh (Ah-zhuh ah-neh) Azanedell (Az-ann-eh-dell)
Alias: it, Jane
Description: A human female in her mid-thirties, brown skin, black hair, hazel eyes. Approximately 160 lbs, 5'11". Freckles, moles, scars, birthmarks, all present but not anywhere memorable. Doesn't smile. Wears a lot of castoffs in neutral colors.
True Form: What would an eldritch harbor seal look like? Yeah. Now make it longer, with some of its spots biofluorescent and add fused fins running ribbons along its body, like its great grandma was an eel. An aerodynamic streamlined form meant for fluid travel, such as through water or air. Filter feeder diet of aether. Intelligent. Solitary. Curious. Species has a social ritual of spinning, with a faster spin causing the aether consumed to bend toward outer extremities, the aether burning off in a vibrant display of color and empathy. It can be used to communicate long distance, but is also used to indicate mate suitability. It is not gendered, but pairing off is instinctual behavior. It doesn't have the ability to open gates or leave its plane of existence--- which is why it really shouldn't be in Elisonia Nexus right now. Possession isn't an ability it normally has either.
Recent History: Due to events unbeknownst to Azjaaneh, it was pulled out of its native plane and spat out into the Elisonia Outskirts. It didn't have anywhere to hide in suburbia and was quickly discovered and killed. Azjaaneh was further confused when it didn't end there. It was pulled into the body of an eyewitness, a child, and thus began the series of involuntary possessions.
At first, the parents thought their child was suffering from trauma, and the case was unusual enough that several specialists were involved in "re-teaching" speech and acceptable social behavior, as well as ordering a bevy of medication for insomnia, sedation and loss of appetite. It accidentally killed the child while trying to pry open medical equipment powered by aether; the first attempt to reassert normalcy on its own terms and feed on its own native diet. It transferred to a person far from the hospital, and kept up trying to find a way to feed without injuring its new flesh. It did eventually figure it out. There have been dozens of people -and one bomb squad robot- it has possessed in the interim.
In more recent times, an incarnation of Azjaaneh was killed by Jane, at which point it possessed Jane and incidentally destroyed Jane the person. For the last 20 days, it has been pretending to be Jane and doing a fairly good imitation. Except it still can't read. Either it has gotten a lot more convincing as a human, or her customers weren't very observant. But the real test is on the way: Jane was paranoid and hiding deadly secrets, the kind that warrant having a friend with instructions and a key to use if she ever goes missing or doesn't make contact on time.
