West has always had just a touch of paranoia; perhaps from his solitary upbringing. Or maybe just because of his Coyote instincts. He is quick to be self defensive, protective of others, and has a hard time letting anyone come in and take things from him. He can be snappish and angry, loud mouthed when he is upset. And generally just a pain in the ass really. But he does it all in the name of keeping others in the pack safe.
More world wise than he is book smart - though he is quite the storyteller and has a way with words like no other. He is an adrenaline junkie through and through, and is always chasing that next thrilling adventure. He can get a bit obsessive and wrapped up in the moment. So utterly focused on one thing that he may wind up missing the obvious even when its staring him right in the face. He can be careless of others feelings sometimes, and other times he can be too careful of them. Coddling almost. And its almost impossible to tell which version of him you'll be getting until a conversation is over and done with.
West can talk for days and days without taking a breath. And then he can go for weeks being the silent observer. He basically wrote the book on contradictions. But he doesn't mind, he is who he is and that's all there is to it.

Just like any other shapeshifter he of course has the ability to shed his human skin to take on the form of a coyote. In both forms he has heightened senses - though of course they are much higher in his Coyote form than they are in his human; these senses often include better sight (night vision), a better sense of smell, and hearing. He is also quite strong, though he is fit as well so this is not completely because of his shapeshifter abilities.
In his human form he is quick on his feet, fit, and capable of many things. A healthy dose of paranoia keeps him in shape for combat, but its his protectiveness of others that drives him to constantly keep learning new fighting techniques. He rarely if ever uses weapons, so he has only a basic knowledge of them at all.
{“I was born and raised in this forest, it will always be my home."}
The wilderness is laced in his blood. A constant humming of her song running beneath his skin. Born in the forest, and raised there, more Coyote than human some days. Reliant on his base instincts to get by. His parents were much the same, people living on the fringe. Doing as they pleased apart from the local pack. But West grew up with a longing for camaraderie, a bone-deep need for socialization; something his kind rarely ever got. By the time he was a teenager he had started getting closer with some of the members in the Wolf Pack. Holly didn't much like him, she could smell that he was trouble from a mile away.
But the pack was never one to turn others away. They eventually accepted him into their ranks, and though his parents were saddened to see him go they understood that he was fundamentally different from them. Incapable of solitude. Despite always being the quickest to shed human skin.
It was a few years later when he decided to go on a journey of a sorts. A self-reflection sort of thing that had him traveling in both human and Coyote form through several states. It was down in New Mexico where he met Cataleya, he could see something of himself in her. An inner struggle. They sat down, had a few drinks, and shared stories of their lives. West suggested, gently, that she seek out the Wolf Pack. But he didn't stick around too long to find out if she did or not. He finished his journey and returned home.
In his spare time he writes, and has created a particularly popular cult-following online that has garnered him some extra cash here and there.
