[color=#006400]At her core she's an attention seeker. Whether for better or worse, she has a very strict idea of what makes a person valuable and she will not tolerate anyone she perceives to be more valuable than her. Most often this manifests as her antagonizing or undermining girls who are more attractive or who receive more male attention--although she'd spurn that male attention most times if it *was* directed at her. She is at once exceedingly insecure and very conceited, not an uncommon mix in Ravenpointe. It makes her skin crawl to feel vulnerable, so she puts on her fake face the majority of the time and surrounds herself in lies and half truths. She can be ruthless if you threaten either her sense of security or her false personality. She pretty much believes that everyone is this way, but just won't admit it.

Her parents had always been chronically absent from her life. While they would make efforts with her brother they seemed singularly unconcerned with her, and they travelled too much to really make a difference in either one's life, no matter what their intentions.In the summer after Freshman year, Cassia Hamilton broke down. In earlier years she had always had friends and had somewhere to retreat to, but high school was a whole different animal. She was a small fish in a much bigger pond and no one spoke to or acknowledged her. She would go days sometimes where she would wake up, leave before everyone else, have no one speak to her throughout the schoolday, and then go home to her big, quiet house and have no one directly speak to her until bed. After months of this she retreated into herself, no longer trying, sometimes not even attending. Alone in her room, she withered. She had never been all that kind, and had always been mildly self centered, but in her self neglect it was magnified and she started to hate everyone she came in contact with, no matter how casually. By the time the school year was over, with the whole empty summer stretching ahead of her, which she knew she would spend alone in her house, sometimes never seeing another human being, she crumbled. She curled up on her parents' bed and drank the bleach from under the bathroom counter.
If you asked her now, she'd say that she wasn't trying to die. She just felt trapped, like a cornered animal, and she was doing something, anything, to get out of that corner. But in her more private moments she suspects that she never really got out of the corner, and that maybe slipping up and dying would have been her only way out.
She was found quickly, sent to the hospital and then put in a 72 hour psychiatric hold that stretched out much longer than intended. It was in that place, the temporary ward, that who she was crystallized. She was introduced to amphetemines--in the ward just low grade speed but she upgraded to ephedra and adderal once she was out and had access to her money again--and she was drawn into the endlessly dramatic fishbowl that is institution life.
