"If I run fast enough maybe I can save everyone."

a character in “I'm Here”, as played by Fredalice

Description

Name: Patrick Miller
Image
General information:

Age: 29
Power: Super speed, with a little more details he can run faster than the human eye can follow this means while he's running he is completely invisible, but only while he's running, he can also run on water, and with enough momentum run up the sides of buildings.
Status: Hero trainer
Face claim: Sean Patrick Flanery
Sexuality: Heterosexual

Image
Physical Appearance:

Patrick is 6' 1" and is lean and muscular, though not body builder, but still has the hard muscles of someone who works out. He has tan and clear skin apart from a couple tattoos and bullet scars. While out on missions (training or otherwise) his body language is strong and tall, every movement is intentional and yet still fluid and holds his easy-going attitude. During normal days, or while back at the base, his body language is much calmer and more relaxed. He walks with a bit of a strut, though not necessarily a "I'm better than you strut" and more of a "I'm so happy, I'm high" kind of strut. He's always looking up, always looking into people's faces and eyes directly, usually while he walks his arms are in the pockets of his jacket. Whenever he sits his feet always have to be up, in a very relaxed position, this means that if he's on a couch and there's no foot stool that whoever is sitting next to him will become the foot stool.

He has spiky, short, brown hair and a the shadow of a mustache and beard. He has ice blue eyes that are usually crinkled with a joke inside them. He is usually always smiling and when he laughs his whole face becomes crinkled with the laughter. However when his face is serious, he thins his lips, suddenly there is no more laughter, his eyes will harden, and what's left is just a very stoic and still face. When sad his whole face becomes red, a vein pops out in his head; he doesn't really do a silent sad, when he's sad he's probably yelling and crying at the same time. There is also no anger, just that stoic look that means he means business and everything he does he is in control of.
Marks: He has a tattoo of the virgin Mary on the left side of his neck and three white bullet scars in his right shoulder that he connected with with the three-fold Celtic knot though it isn't a perfect triangle shape.
General clothing: He typically wears a dark colored t-shirt, a black coat, and jeans, with hiking boots, but on his days off from training the heroes or if he

Personality:

Patrick is the "funny man", he loved a good joke, he loves to make people laugh, and to laugh himself. He usually always has a smile on his face and a laugh in his throat; he prefers to see the world through rose-colored glasses, the glass half full, and see the best of everyone even if he has just met them and doesn't know them. He gives everyone the benefit of the doubt, even villains, often times giving them a second chance to do the right thing. It isn't hard to get him to like you, just by talking to him and opening up a little he will act like your best friend, which for some people this is kind of weird. He has an almost constant energy, he can't sit still or do steak outs very well, if he does happen to be still for too long (with the added bonus of having to be quiet) he'll start whistling/humming/etc. or he'll just jump right out.

However, he isn't without his flaws. Patrick is on the verge of becoming an alcoholic. This isn't because he is overly depressed and is trying to drown his sorrows, he just likes the certain euphoric mindset it comes with it. While he's drunk, he isn't mean, angry, or violent; he's more of what you would call the giggly drunk, when he drinks suddenly everything becomes funny, this can also mean that when people are sad or serious about something and are trying to confide in him he will most likely laugh like a school girl about it. In the past he has tried a couple times to stop drinking, but alcohol (especially whiskey) is a great weakness to him and one that he can't say no to. He also isn't the type of person you would take home to meet your family, his sense of humor can be rather crude, on the boarder line of offensive. Such as "Don't be such a girl about it" when he's talking to a girl, the thing people have to remember is that when he says stuff like this he doesn't mean to be offensive and you can call him out on it if it bothers you enough.

When he's working, as a hero trainer, and out on missions his whole personality seems to quiet. He's still the same old care-free, joker he always has been, but it seems to almost hide behind a more serious exterior. When it comes down to it, he may joke and laugh all the time, but that doesn't mean he doesn't know a serious situation, at least when he's sober. He knows his job and is completely determined to get to his initial goal almost at any costs. Patrick has, what people might say, as a hero complex, he has always felt he was the one responsible if a criminal went unpunished and it was his responsibility to save absolutely everyone. If he sees someone being bullied or pushed around on the street it will suddenly become his responsibility to make sure no one gets hurt, often times he usually doesn't get thanked or quite the opposite, but he will always save everyone whether it's asked for or not, whether that puts himself in a more dangerous position or not; he feels that that is his purpose in life.

Likes: whiskey, meat, skydiving and other such activities, cooking (loves cooking French food the most), dancing around like a fool, and singing/whistling/humming
Dislikes: too much silence, heat waves/Summer, the mornings, seeing others in pain (and nobody doing anything about that), caves/being underground, and having nothing to do/sitting still
Fears: that "bad guys" will go unpunished (i.e. rapists, mobsters, murders, etc.), having someone die on his account, and being buried alive
Weaknesses: If he runs too long he can spontaneously com-bust, he likes to take risks (even just for fun) and often times forgets about consequences, he's on the edge of becoming an alcoholic (he isn't yet, but his drinking is getting worse), he has a problem of not sitting still and gets antsy (when he gets antsy he'll either start whistling or will run and save the day waiting be damned), and he isn't a planner more of a think on your feet kind of person (makes it even worse that "thinking on his feet" isn't really thinking because he's run by his emotions)
Strengths: He will never leave someone behind (even a villain), he has faith that everyone has a little good in them, he has vigorously trained his body so that not only can he run farther and longer than when he was younger but he can also rely on his (normal human) strength in a fight, when he sets his mind to something he will do almost anything till he gets it, and people trust him easily not because of a silver tongue or anything but just because he doesn't hide any part of himself (except his powers during everyday life) and this gets noticed

History:

Patrick was born in Boston, in the "slums" section. He grew up without ever knowing his dad, so it was just him, his mum, and little brother. His mum worked as a waitress for two different places; a cafe during the day and pub during evening and night. They never had a lot of money to go on, but enough to live well enough. Patrick went to public school and was the class clown of every class. There were a couple classes in which the teacher loved him and loved how happy and energetic he was, but otherwise he had gotten detention more often than not for disrupting the class. In high school is when his powers showed up, he was walking home when he got jumped near an alley; he had to go pick up his little brother from home so he was making a run for it rather than fighting, the next thing he knew he felt a little winded, his hair was sticking up, and he was at his brothers school.

However running away like that had marked him to the thugs. It hadn't taken the thugs that long to find out where he lived. His mum was at work, so only he and his brother were at home. Patrick had gotten pretty badly beaten, but his brother had been killed after getting in the way. The thugs had run off before they could finish Patrick off because they heard sirens getting closer. They had never been caught and for the rest of high school that had killed Patrick every single day. Since his powers had emerged Patrick would spend more time running around the city rather than on his homework. He had just barely gotten his GED and for him that was a great accomplishment. His mum, after his brother's death, had become very depressed and turned to alcohol. After Patrick had gotten his GED he had sent his mum to rehab to get better because he didn't want to lose her as well. Only once she was gone did Patrick realize that there was nothing for him in Boston anymore. He had done some digging for information about others with powers such as himself because he refused to believe he was the only one. That's when he heard of a group in New York City.

He traveled over there, only taking a little under a day to get there. When he arrived he got himself an apartment and a job in a meat factory to stay while he did more digging on this group. He actually found out there were two; heroes and villains. The villains concerned him because of what happened to his brother he had become very protective of everybody, and is actually when he had developed his hero complex. So he until he was certain of where to find the heroes he had started fighting the villains on his own, sort of becoming a local hero on his block. This is when another man had arrived, his name was Gregor, who had invited him to join the heroes. Patrick, to say the least, was ecstatic and agreed immediately. He moved out of his apartment and into the heroes base, though he kept his job at the meat factory because over the years the workers actually became his family; they would pull jokes on one another all the time. Patrick trained with mostly Gregor, as he had a similar power to Patrick's. Gregor showed him how he had to maintain weight lifting and working out in order to stay in shape enough to expand his power. When Gregor became too old, he retired and put Patrick in his place. It had taken a couple years to get used to training others while keeping up with his own training he had learned from Gregor, but he has finally got a hold of it. Sufficed to say, Patrick is proud of the fact that since he was put in charge he had never had a trainee die, go missing, quit, or maimed while he was on watch.
Significant events: His brother dying which made him develop his hero complex, sending his mom to rehab which is what made him leave Boston for New York City, and becoming Gregor's apprentice because this has made him want to become the best hero/trainer he can be and why he keeps up with his own training instead of becoming lazy.
Joining the group: He joined because he wanted to stop the evil in the world; he wanted to punish any people who pulled something morally wrong (i.e. child molesters, rapist, mafioso, murders) and also to finally meet others like himself

James readied himself in a very short time for the mission. There wasn't really that much he changed, he looked exactly the same, the clothing was just from different manufacturers. The extra thing he added was a shining silver watch, attached to his wrist. Along with that, James wore shoes with extra grip on the soles and there was a variety of belts strapped around his body under the clothing. Their purpose; support, vibrations can easily knock a human over, so wearing things like these can prevent this from happening, allowing James to pull ot maneuvours as the ground is literally breaking up and changing in angle underneath him. Better to be safe than sorry.

With that, James left his room. He wondered slowly down the hallways, the tapping on his steps echoed deeply into the distance. Next, the stairs, there was no echo, no creak of a slightly broken step. It was quiet, and annoying.

Finally, James had reached the kitchen, he grabbed yet another apple and then sat in his usual seat at the table. His back straightened as he patiently waited.

Lara McIntosh

Lara just sort of rolled her eyes at Jack's response, knowing full well that he was making it up.

"I'm so, sorry to hear that. Were you terribly miserable after you lost her?" Lara asked, her eyes not wavering from what she was currently reading. She stayed in her seat for a while, making idle conversation with Jack while she read; other than getting her mask, Lara was pretty much prepared for the mission, that is clothing-wise. She still had to go meet Eris and talk about their plan of action.

Lara didn't rush her conversation with Jack, that was one perk to being close with her is that she never rushed conversations as if trying to get away, she just let them play out naturally and leave when the conversation lulled enough. When one such lull happened, Lara excused herself from the room and went in to get her mask before going in search of Eris. With her mask and book in hand, Lara made her way past the kitchen and dining room to the West wing of the house. Her all black outfit and white mask made her seem surreal enough, but adding onto the fact that she possessed people had made the public deem her as "The Phantom". In all honesty she would have come up with something far more creative, but she guessed this way it would be easier for everyone to remember her.

One thing about the living room that Lara never understood was how warmly it was decorated; with yellows, golds, browns, and whites as the color scheme it made the entire room feel very homely. Along with the giant and comfortable furniture. She had always wondered if Genivieve was the one who designed it as to lure potential villains in using most of their family issues by the promising a home with this room. She wouldn't put it past the devious trainer to plan that far in advance, however she could also see Jack having chosen the design on a whim once and is just sticking by that whim stubbornly even if he feels different about it now. This was just a question in Lara's head, she would never say it out loud because it was never relevant to absolutely anything.

Lara saw Eris sitting on the big, yellow chair and walked over sitting on the ottoman across from her. "So what's the plan then? Who did Geniveive say I would be possessing?" she asked with a straight face.

Patrick Miller

Patrick went to his room and pulled out his mask from an unused drawer in his room. He knew not everyone would choose to wear a mask, but he felt obligated to as he had to keep his identity safe while he kept up his job at the meat factory; after all someone had to pay the bills for their tiny base. He caught a glance of his reflection in his bedroom window, the reflection of a somewhat dark hero. Though he wasn't nearly as dark as Batman, he was darker than some of the others. Since he did wear all dark colors and the odd mask he had chosen that looked like something was eating his face, slowly but surely. This is why the public had deemed him "Evade". Patrick gathered that was because of the dark colors added a bit of mystery, or so he liked to think, to his persona, but also because of his super speed he was able to come close to evading the human detection. If anything he loved the name the public had given him, he actually took some pride into that name, even if others made fun of him for it.

As he came out of his room and walked down the hall to the front door, he put on his mask and yelled, "Alright gang, let's hit the road! The sooner we get into position the more we can be prepared for the villains!" His typical demeanor of joking and carefree was gone now. It had been replaced when the mask was put on, turning him more serious and ready for action. This was his typical attitude while going on missions with his trainees. Once the mask was put on he knew that he would be putting them into situations that normal kids and teenagers should never have to be put into, whatever happened to them would be all on him and so it was his job to make sure that nothing of that sort actually did happen. It was his job. His responsibility. His hero-complex.

Paisley was just heading out to meet the others when Genevieve appeared. Snapping her gum again, Paisley smiled at her. "Oh, yes?" She replied very sweetly, when she heard her name being called. It was an obvious facade to Genevieve, who knew her well now, but it was a very good way for her to get 'into character' before she went out, in her opinion. Genevieve, however, didn't reply until she was face to face with the girl.

"I want you to stick with me and Jack close to the truck. This is not about me protecting you but rather you protecting me, Jack and I will be going for the goods inside the truck and I want you to stand close and make sure that no one gets close to us, do you understands. This is very important and I need to know that you're up for the job." was all that Genevieve explained. Really? Not about protecting her? Paisley saw right through it. Of course it was. She sighed and nodded anyway. "Yeah, sure, I'm up for it. You really think I wouldn't be?" She smiled again at her. Then, purposely leaving her mask where it was, hidden in a drawer in her dresser, Paisley skipped down the hallway to return to the others.

Evelyn hurried down the stairs, her stomach twisting into knots. As she did so, she grabbed her mask off the table and hurried on, the ribbons that tied it on trailing behind her. She got down into the meeting place and sat down. Patrick was already in there, and she gave him a small smile in greeting. She inclined her head towards him, too, and waited for the others to arrive.

As she waited, she tied on her mask, and adjusted it so that she was sure it wouldn't move, and wouldn't interfere with her eyesight. She couldn't exactly look after Daniel if she couldn't see. She let go once it was perfect, and nodded to herself, before twiddling her thumbs, knots curling her stomach and turning it into butterflies. Then she had a question that she was dying to ask.

"Patrick..." She began, very quietly. She looked up from her lap, where her hands were. "What exactly are the documents and why are they so important?" She finished. She hoped he could answer her, she felt that if she knew the importance of the documents she would work just that much harder to keep them around.

Following Evelyn into the kitchen Daniel made his way over to the fridge reaching on top for his mask, granted it wasn't the best place to leave it but after a long day of going out on missions and being exhausted it was a miracle he even remembered where he had put it. He likes his mask because it covered his face still allowing him to breathe without obstructing his vision, he also very much liked the nickname the public had given him, "Toxic", on the few times that he had been out, it went along with his mask and the hazardous material symbol on the back of his jacket that he wore to all of his missions.

Daniel pulled the straps over his head securing the gas mask to his face before pulling the hood of his jacket over his head, now that the fear of having to face actual villains had faded he was now beginning to replace it with excitement and he actually looked his trainer, Patrick, straight in the eye smiled enough for it to wrinkle his eyes so that the trainer could tell that he was smiling, he gave Patrick the thumbs up to show that he was ready. He then walked over to Evelyn standing quietly next to her putting his hands in his in his pockets and waiting patiently for the next order. He kept repeating over and over in his head that he could do this that it wasn't that big of a deal, that he had to believe in himself and above all stay focused.

Genevieve smiled at her young pupil, "I knew you would be," the smile was insincere but the words were not, Paisley had shown much progress in the time that she had joined the villains but that progress accounted for nothing if Genevieve didn't have a matching set of the two sisters, though Paisley's sister seems like a lost cause she would not give up and the first chance that she saw to convince Evelyn of changing to the right team she would pounce on it. Genevieve indicated that Paisley should follow her as she spun around her hair flying outward as she did so, practically gliding down the hall at a brisk pace. Genevieve walked into the front room making her way over to the large double doors and first pushing the button on the intercom that was located next to the front doors she spoke into it.
"Time to head out.... now."the last word was a little forceful to show that she was serious and don't take two more hours getting ready. She then walked over to the doors pulling both handles down and open relieving three parked limousines, one for each team, in their circle drive. It was a wonder what a few calls a head of time could prove useful, Genevieve smiles red lips and walked over to the first black car, the driver offered to take her hand and help her into the limo which she took, he tipped his hat before helping her down saying, "Mistress," this was the clever name that the newspapers had donned her with. She both adored and loathed it, on one hand the name reminded her of class and elegance on the other the meaning of the word meant someone who slept with another woman's husband, but since she couldn't change it she chose to accept it. She settled into the vehicle waiting for the others to arrive, they had been using this company for months to get around being driven a block from where they were meant to be and let out to do their business then driven home no questions asked, and the best part of all was that they took stolen money without a second thought. Genevieve so enjoyed when everything went according to plan, she was thinking this when she looked over to see the box that held their communication devices, small silver earbuds that fit neat and nearly invisible in their ears allowing them to keep in touch, Genevieve took one out placing carefully in her left ear.

Chris sat quietly in a chair in the living room, watching as other members of the house walked by, and fumbled with the mask in her hands. She had to wear a mask to conceal her identity. She, along with Patrick, had jobs to help pay the bills for the base, and she was a school teacher at the local highschool. She didn't want to see one of her students on the streets, and for them to yell "Hey Ms. Williams!" which would catch the attention of the villains for sure. The mask covered only one eye, her left one, which she was completely blind in.

Just as she was about to place it on her face, she felt her phone buzz in her pocket. The caller ID read "New York Police Department." Chris knew immediately it was her colleague from the police force, who would call her whenever something big came up. It was rare when he called, so she knew this was important.

"Shoot" she said, getting straight to the point and not even bothering to greet him with a hello.

"Some guy just turned into diamond at the airport!" The way be screamed in her ear made her pull back, and what he said made absolutely no since to her whatsoever.

"Pardon?" She heard him take a deep breath and then continued to tell her the whole story of what happened at the airport. As he spoke, Chris realized that another one of them were found, but he had used his powers in a public area. Videos were probably now streaming around YouTube and if the world found out about there powers, they'd be in some big trouble.

"Alright, thank you." She said quietly, placing her phone in her back pocket, then sighing pinched the bridge of her nose. "What the hell are we getting ourselves into"

She rose from her comfortable seat in the living room and ran off to find Patrick.

As soon as Genevieve entered the room, Eiko poked her head over the counter of the kitchen. Her cheeks were stuffed with the mini cupcakes that they had kept in the kitchen, and she kinda resembled a chipmunk the way her cheeks her puffed out like that. The sides of her mouth had little dabs of chocolate frosting.

She noticed how most everyone had something to disguise themselves. Lara had her mask, Genevieve had the war paint. Frankly, Eiko never cared mush for disguising herself. No one ever recognized her anyway, what with her mismatch clothing never being the same combination twice, and her hair changing colors daily. (this day particularly was a dark blue, almost purple color.) True, she did stick out quite a bit, but to her that's all the fun in it. She like the fact that she was different. It's what made her, well, her.

Once it wad made clear that it was time to leave, Eiko ran out into the drive where three limousines were parked, one for each group. She grinned, jumping from the stairs and running out into the yard with her arms extended like an airplane. The limo driver opened the door for her, then stepped out of the way as he knew she would knock him down with her energetic nature. (And the fact she was on a sugar rush.)

Once comfortably seated, she took the little communication earbud and attached it to her headphones. That way she could keep het iPod on while on the mission. Eiko sat quietly and waited for everyone else to arrive while she played "Dumb Ways To Die" on her phone.
