"Don't just stand there! Run, you idiot!"

a character in “It's the End of the World As We Know It”, as played by fallacywonderland

Description

Image

ImageAge: 23

Gender: Female

Appearance: India is 5’6” and has an athletic build. She has hazel eyes and her hair colour is a chestnut brown. She is a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl and mostly wears sneakers.

Sexuality: Heterosexual

Weapon(s): She carries a Bowie knife with her. She also has a 9mm Glock. she only uses this gun if it’s a necessity and she has no other choice. The sound attracts more of the infected and because most places are abandoned, sounds carry much further than they usually would. The only time she would use this gun is to get herself out of immediate danger.

Skills: India is a marathon runner, meaning she can keep up a fast pace for a long time if she has to. She is best able to use this skill on flat land, going up a hill or through a rocky terrain puts her on a disadvantage. She isn’t a sprinter, but so far she has been able to outrun and outlast the infected.

She knows basic survival skills like making fires and shelters.

Besides these skills, she is also a decent climber. Her family owns a small cabin in the woods, they used to visit this place every December. She is familiar with tree climbing and rock climbing, although without gear she can’t do the latter.

Family:
Mother(53)& Father(55) – Fate unknown
Brother(29) – Fate unknown
Sister(23) – Deceased

ImagePersonality: She is a no-nonsense type of person and definitely not a people pleaser, in fact, India loves to push people’s buttons. Saying stuff just to get a rise out of them or otherwise doing stupid pranks.

Aside from that, India has a real morbid sense of humour. With the zombie apocalypse on the rise, not many people can appreciate this. With the disaster and tensions running, she tries to stay out of conflict with people, meaning that she is less open to others. If India were to open her mouth, she’d probably say just the wrong things to get herself killed.

Growing up, she loved being outdoors and being active. She loved tree climbing, her older brother had even made a treehouse for her. India is pretty thankful now that her little hobby has been helpful in her survival. Although she was a social butterfly before shit hit the fan, she has been quite the loner this past year. Ever since she saw her sister get torn apart by an infected because of an idiotic mistake a fellow camp member made, she tries to avoid big groups. But there is truth to the old saying β€˜there is safety in numbers’…

History:India, the youngest of three children, had quite the unremarkable childhood. She lived in the suburbs with her family. Her mom was a stay-at-home mother and her father the breadwinner of the family as an accountant. She had the picture perfect childhood. Her parents were really a boring pair, her brother was always up for some pranks and her sister knew all the neighborhood gossip.

She wasn’t a student focused on academics, preferring a football to her schoolbooks. Her brother was the captain of their local football team and ever since she could remember she would go to his games to cheer him on. She tried a lot of different kind of sports until she found her passion for marathon running. It was actually by coincidence that she discovered this. Her gymteacher told her to run 20 laps in their gymhall as punishment for another one of her childish pranks. When she was on 19 laps and she still didn’t seem to tire, her teacher suggested she should sign up for the school’s track & field club.

She was pretty successful on the track & field club, gaining a full scholarship for the state University her sister also attended. She loved running track but she wasn’t sure if there was an actual future for her in that career path. After a freshman year full of doubts and worries, she choose to major in Sports Management. Although not everyone was happy with her decision (i.e. her parents), she was happy with her choice.

On the day of the outbreak she was with her sister in their dormroom. She can’t remember what happened during that chaos, but they did manage to escape the first wave of attacks. Through some miracle they even found firearms to protect themselves. India and her sister planned to go back to their parents’ house and plan from there, hoping their brother had the same plan. They were extremely close to their goal when the unfortunate accident happened that caused India’s sister her life. She hasn’t been the same since. Only living day by day, not really sure what to look forward to.

Love Interest: None at the moment

So begins...

Luke grinned after shaking the girls hand, watching her take a seat. Behind him, he could here Charlotte speaking in soft tones to Sean, but he wasn't replying. As usual. When the new girl walked in, the two quieted down, and both came to stand with Luke, Char's had on Sean to steady him. "Yeah he's fine," Char said, not hostile, but not in a way you should speak to strangers.

For fear of what she might say, under the heat of the moment, Luke stepped in. "We found a girl on patrol a week or so ago. She marked this on our map, and we decided it was time we stopped by." He smiled his natural toothy smile, the one that always made people comfortable because it was so natural. "She said she had something to do I believe," He finished, shrugging, then taking a seat on the couch across from Robin. Char followed.

Sean stood behind, leaning his arms on the couch, and watched. He observed both girls, but since they had already spent some time with Robin, he was more interested in India. She was certainly pretty, and from the looks of her she was in her early 20's. "So how are you all related?" Luke asked, friendly enough.

Robin listened quietly in interest. A girl they say? One that lived here? Robin wondered who it was. She watched Sean talk to India then snapped her head up. 'Wait, a girl you say?' Robin remembered the little girl she meet, Suri. She told Robin of her sister who was missing. 'Did this girl happen to be around seven years old?'

When India heard Robin's response she couldn't help but frown. It was probably odd to get attached to anyone in such a short period of time, but India had gone a long while now without anyone that she could call comrade. And she could admit to herself that she liked the no-nonsense way Christy dealt with everything.

She was interrupted from her thoughts when the woman named Char answered her question in a rather dubious tone. She raised her eyebrows at that but surprisingly made no comment. However tempting it was... India actually had to fight a smile because it seemed that the group had at least one person who knew how to be nice and do damage control at the same time. And to be honest, she could respect that kind of fierce protectiveness Char had shown, even if it had rubbed her the wrong way.

"Eh, well I can't verify your story about a girl since I've only arrived about half a day ago." India answered nonchalantly. "But I'm sure Knox or Chad could get your description of this girl." she added with a shrug. She walked over towards the couch but sat on the opposite side of it, on the ground. She was trying to appear casual, maybe they'd be less distrusting. "Robin, I somehow doubt they're talking about a seven year old kid....although stranger things have happened.", she said evenly.

"And it's like I said, I'm new. I was looking for a shelter and by chance happened to find this place, they were really generous and allowed me, Robin and Christy to stay. Funny to note that we three didn't come here together. It seems this place is a refugee magnet.", India answered Luke.

Since he had asked her the question, it had given India the opportunity to ask them some. "So what about you three, what's your story?" she asked Luke but also locked eyes with Char and Sean.

Char looked confused at Robin, but didn't reply as the other girl... India was her name, said something. Luke knew he was what was keeping Charlotte from looking like a jerk, and looking like a caring sister, which she was. He put his hand on her knee, squeezing reassuringly. Sean's hands were tight on the couch back, whether because he was scared, or stressed, or just needed to be held up.

"Yeah, we feel kind of bad knowing it's low on supplies." Luke said, biting his lip lightly, and listening to India speak. "Sean's my brother," Char said, a soft, hardly showing grin showing on her face, but it was there, and that's what mattered. Luke gave her knee a squeeze. "And he's my best friend." She finished, nudging his hand with her knee. Char couldn't tell if they wanted to know everything, or just that, so she closed her mouth and waiting for a reply.

India observe the trio quietly from where she sat on the ground. It was obvious that they were extremely close, the way they were reassuring the other with just their touch. India noticed Sean's hands on the couch, his knuckles turning white. He looked extremely uncomfortable and it put India a bit on edge. She took that moment to observe the three some more. It looked like Char and Luke were closer to her age, while Sean looked a bit younger.

So it appeared that these three had known each other before this hell started. India felt a sharp pang of jealousy at that moment. She was with her own sister when this started. It was absolutely horrific but knowing she had her sister with her had helped India tremendously. Now, she was all alone, just herself and her memories to confide to. "That explains a lot." India answered thoughtfully. She didn't continue her thoughts because Robin spoke again. "Leaving? Robin, are you sure?" she asked a bit confused why the young girl wanted to go out there on her own. She didn't look like she could survive for long on her own.

"And as for supplies, they were going to run out of them eventually. Now there are more people to scavenge.", she looked at Luke expectantly, waiting for his response. Were they planning on staying and helping, or what?...

Char raised her eyes when the girl said she was leaving, glancing at Luke. Robin was young, probably about Sean's age, and it seemed ridiculous to her that she'd be able to live on her own. More so that she would want to. Sean was surprised at this too, again giving Robin a look over, trying to figure her out.

Both Char and Luke turned to look at India when she spoke, Char pulling her feet up under her basically in crisscross, but putting her feet on top of her legs, both because it was comfortable and because she didn't want to dirty the couch with her mud caked boots. It probably looked strange to others, but she was pretty flexible, so it might as well be natural. Both of them felt India's look, and Luke nodded, Char speaking for him. "Maybe we won't stay for long, maybe we will. Either way, you guys let us in in the first play, and we owe it to this group to help out however we can, even if that means going on one raid." Charlotte said, her eyes making a quick look to Luke then falling back on India's, a softer look in them. Luke nodded, "We'll help out. For sure."

However, Sean was not paying attention to their conversation. His eyes still on Robin, he bit his lip in thought, loosening his hands on the couch, then removing them. He grunted something, not really words, but it might've sounded like words. He proceeded to pick one of their duffles off the ground, searching for something to eat. His head was still killing him.

India allowed a smile to form on her face, it seemed like she could trust them for now. They seemed genuine enough and it wasn't like India was looking for them to dedicate their lives to the group or her. A promise to help out in a way they could was good enough. It was all India was planning on doing. "I'm going to be honest, I am glad you decided that.", she answered truthfully looking Char and Luke in the eye. Sometimes it was best to be honest with people, she was a horrible liar anyway. "This group has a lot of vulnerable people, like a pregnant lady and a little girl. I think they could use our help."

And that was the truth. She could choose to leave the group because it was getting bigger, but she wasn't sure her conscious would allow that. She would do her best to help out for now, to repay the favour. Afterwards, they would have to think long term. Maybe there is a better place. There had to be bigger military bases around.

"You can rest in that room", she pointed towards the room where she has slept the night before. "There are some blankets and pillows over there." India offered. "And I think you can get yourselves a bit cleaned up as well." she added as an afterthought, grinning. They looked like they needed it. Besides Sean still didn't look that healthy...

She stretched her legs and decided to get in a more comfortable position with her arms leaning on her knee. India hoped she didn't have to wait long for the others before their raid. From her sitting position she could feel the familiar weight of her dagger and handgun, ready for use.

As Robin watched the others, she heard a muffled sound behind her. A few feet away, laying discarded on a table was a old looking for walkie talkie. She moved towards it ignoring the others. When she picked it up Robin finally heard was being spoken. "Zombies at the north-' Suddenly it was cut off. She looked at it confused for a moment then turned to the group. 'I think someone in trouble.' As she said this, Robin tossed the walkie talkie to India.

Sean didn't turn his eyes on Robin when she spoke, nodding his head lightly twice, before pausing and closing his eyes shut, cringing in pain. He opened his eyes slowly to her, shrugging. Sean pulled his arm out of the bag, though what he was holding was obscure.

Luke looked India back in the eye, smiling. "Anything to help, we'll do. Thanks," he said, turning to Char. "Do you want to rest?" He said to her, keeping eye contact when he spoke, but she shook her head. "There's too much to do." She said, turning back to India. Char knew they both needed to wash up and rest, that was a given, but she didn't want to impose or take advantage of the people, plus she needed to get her bearings.

Sean was looking at Robin, about to open his mouth when a radio went off. All three of the new comer's eyes flew to it, their breath pausing.

"We can help," Luke said, an eager smile popping onto his face as he stood up, pulling Char up behind him. "At least, I can. And Sean," Luke glanced at Sean, not sure if he was feeling up to it, but the faintest hint of emotion could be seen through his blank facade, and Luke knew he was. "Sean's more accurate than anyone I've ever met."

Luke was extremely eager. Not that he necessarily wanted to throw his life on the line, but it meant protecting the people who so happily took him in, and protecting Char. That was a goal too. Speaking of Char, she was currently looking at Luke like he'd given birth to a dog; a total what the heck look.

India was brought out of her musings when she heard the distinctive sounds of a radio going off. Robin moved before she could and picked it up, catching only the last couple of words. It seemed like someone from the group was in trouble up north. She caught the walkie-talkie from Robin and immediately got up, running back towards her backpack. It had everything she owned and who knew how long this rescue mission would take. She released her hair from the messy bun it was in and redid it in her signature high ponytail to keep it from her face, running back towards the group.

"Yeah, I definitely appreciate it. Not so familiar with the area around.", she answered hastily while lacing her bootstraps. "You do have weapons right?", she said as an afterthought. Chad and Knox hadn't mentioned where they kept the spare weaponry if they had any. She hoped the guys had their own guns. "Are you guys sure Sean can handle it, it wasn't that long ago that he was paler than a ghost." It wasn't anything personal, but Sean didn't look like he was in good condition and India wasn't a patient person during conflicts.

The small coffee table next to the couch had a map of the area. There were some places circled and some crossed out, she figured the markings meant that they raided the place already or wanted to. She could see there was a rectangled shape drawn directly north from the shelter. That was probably the place the distress call came from, she hoped. She looked up to Luke and Sean "I think it's this place, it's the only thing they marked on this map that is directly north from the shelter."

"If you guys are ready we should head out while the sun is still rising", India said a look of determination on her face. She unstrapped her gun and made sure it was fully loaded. The rest of her ammunition were in the sidepocket of her backpack, a place she could easily reach with her arm.

Robin nodded and brought out her weapons. It was just a simple pistol and dagger, but it would do. She pocketed the knife, and held her pistol tightly. 'Who ever needed help said it was in the north. We should go there first.' As she spoke, Robin eyed Sean carefully. She was a bit worried that he'd be too weak to fight. And it looked like he wanted to say something to her before they got the call in the walkie talkie. When they got back, Robin would have to ask him.

Chad was now on the roof of the nearby building " This is not good." He said to him self. He quickly attached the silencer to his .45. He began to shot at the zombies below. He was a pretty good shot but who knows how long he would be up there? Suddenly a banging sound came from behind him. They were on the other side of the roof access door. The makeshift barricade he made wasnt going to hold much longer. Chad pulled his machete out. If he was gonna go down he was gonna go down with a fight. Woth a machete that was freshly sharpened he was ready.

"I'm in," Sean said, a large grin on his face as he dumped a handful of what looked like a handmade trail mix into his mouth, chewing quickly as he and Luke exchanged a high five of sorts, something called daps. Luke nodded to India at the mention of weapons, reaching into what seemed to be a hidden compartment in his pants, and pulling out a 14 inch machete. He grinned, putting it back, and walked to India, glancing over her shoulder at the map. "Sean's fine," he mumbled, grinning, tracing his fingers along the area as India explained it to him, his arm touching her lightly, though he didn't really notice.

All this time Char was standing dumbfounded, looking between the two girls and her best friend. She'd expected Sean not to say anything, hell, she'd be surprised if he did, but to straight up not be mentioned? Not saying anything, she reached into her bag and pulled out her compound bow. Putting the safety on, she looped it around her arm, put the police baton partially in her boot, and picked up her Marlin. "Nice try," she muttered to Luke, rolling her eyes. Char also picked up Sean's rifle and, after checking that the safety was on, tossed it to Sean, who automatically caught it from being so used to this movement between the two.

At this, Luke looked dumbfounded, and walked over to Char quickly, putting her against the wall and basically as far as they could get from the other three in the room without going outside. "You are not coming," he muttered, trying to make eye contact. "It's not safe- you could get hurt." Char pushed him away, smirking.

"They need all the help they can get," she replied, pointing lightly at the two girls. "So I'm coming."

Char turned towards India and Robin, her eyes now eager as well. "What's the plan?

'First things first.' Said Robin as she double knotted her laces. She pulled tight and after making sure they'll stay, straightened out. 'We need to find out where the the distress call is coming from, and go about from then.' As Robin spoke she began to inspect her pistol looking for anything out of the ordinary. Pleased with what she found Robin tucked the gun in a easy to reach spot.

'I'd say if we are dealing with just a few undead, we charge in. Yet if we can't handle that, we attack from a high place far back.' She eyed the others after she finished speaking, waiting to hear if they liked her plan or if they had a better suggestion.

India rolled her eyes lightly at the exchange between the two guys, she sighed. Boys will be boys, even in the apocalypse. she thought with a shake of her head. Her eyes widened when she saw Luke pull out the huge machete from his pants, "How the hell did that... never mind." India turned towards Robin and mentioned for her to come over. "See Robin, I think it's this place. It has to be." she said with conviction pointing to the place on the map. She folded the map and put it in back pocket of her jeans. She didn't comment any further on Sean's well being. They knew him better than she did, and it wasn't her responsibility.

Char and Luke had a little dispute whether or not she was going to come with them, she was actually a little excited when it was decided that Char was going to join them. She grinned at the girl's compound bow, that was going to be a definite lifesaver, she could already tell.

"So the path from the left side of this shelter goes directly to this northern part, I think we should take it for the sake of not getting lost." India said looking Char, Sean, Luke and Robin in the eyes for their confirmation. If they had a better plan, they could offer it. "And I think it's best that Char take the front, she can take out the walkers soundless with her bow and clear a path for us. I want one of you guys to take the back and the rest will keep their eyes on the sides." she finished. "I suggest we don't use our guns, at least not until we get to the place. We don't want to attract more undead and who knows how many there are already.", she could be a little bossy when it came to it. "Oh and another thing. Do not under any circumstances wander alone."

She walked over towards the door leading out of the shelter. Opening it ever so slowly she peeked her head out to see if the coast was clear. No walkers in the vicinity. Good.

"Ready when you are." she said to the group, pointing towards the door.

Char listened to India, her gun in between her legs as she reorganized her duffle, taking out her ammo boxes, counting them, and putting them back. She also pulled out her sheath, which in reality, for her, was a leather bag with arrows in it, more of a modern style sheath. Pulling her hair back into a ponytail and slipping a headband over her head to secure her hair, she pulled Sean's backpack over to her with her foot. Char started looking for a protein bar, pocketing it, and tossing his back pack back to Sean.

Luke looked at the map again with India, counting the space in between the compound and the tower with his thumb. Moving away to where Char was, he grabbed his backpack, swinging both straps on. "Do you want me to take the duffle?" He asked Char, picking it up then waiting for her reply. She gave a small nod and he took it, putting it on one arm, and moving towards the door. Sean picked up his backpack, putting his rifle strap around his arm and grabbing his baseball bat, following Luke.

Char did the same, attaching the release to her hand as she walked, testing each attachment point to make sure it was good to go. She picked an arrow out of the sheath, putting it on the bow, but not pulling back. "Ready." She said, taking a deep breath.

Robin nodded as India showed her the map. It seemed to be the right place. She turned as India put away the map and raised an eyebrow at Char's weapon choice. For some reason, it didn't surprise her. It was like the weapon suited her. She saw the others weapons, and looked down at her own knife. It was tiny compared to theirs. Shrugging, Robin twirled it between her fingers and headed towards the door. She stopped by Sean and gave him a quick once over. Her voice half joking and half serious she asked him, 'Your not gonna pass out again, right?'

India waited patiently until everyone was ready to go. She took her Bowie knife from where it was strapped on the backside of her boots, examining it. There was some dried blood caked on it and India frowned. It was dumb of her not to clean that properly, she shook her head and wiped the blade on her vest. Her clothes were filthy anyway.

When Char told India she was ready, India moved outside the compound. The sun was slowly rising on the horizon, the warmth of its rays pleasant on her skin. There was a slight breeze outside and just looking around the quite place you couldn't tell that it was the end of the world. Well except for the dead corpses lying around. India snorted, how odd that she was now used to this kind of scenery.

She walked over to the path they were going to take and looked back towards the group. "I'll take the left, one of you take the right.", she whispered. You could never really be too sure. While waiting for Char to take the lead she glanced over the left. There was a small cabin in the distance that was in ruins, some corpses lying on the ground but no signs of movement. "The left is clear." India mentioned.

She held her breath, waiting for them to move, gripping her blade firmly in her right hand while she had her Glock in her left hand.

Sean chuckled at Robin's comment, giving her a nod in reply, twirling his bat and catching it. He gave Luke a light tap on the leg, signaling him to follow India, and walked after him, lifting his bat. Char followed, putting the release against the string and getting ready to pull taught, going out in front of Robin, and walking beside Sean. Outside was pretty nice, the breeze felt good against Luke's string, refreshing, even though he'd only been inside for a little.

The three nodded at her words, and naturally, Luke looked to the right in front, and Sean to the side, both glancing back first. Char took the center of the two groups, pulling the release and string back, and putting the bow up to her eye to be prepared to aim. In the far off distance, she could see something moving, but whether it was a tree moving in the wind or something else, she couldn't be sure.

On the Sean circled back behind Char, following behind and leaving the right to the more than capable Luke. "Left's-" Luke started, and a swiping sound, followed by a crunching sound could be heard, before he finished. "Lefts clear." He finished, looking down at the corpse me was now crushing beneath his foot.

The outside air felt refreshing to Robin and she smiled slightly. She stopped to breath it in for a moment and watched the others check the sides. Her eyes followed Luke and she winced at the crushing noise. She made a face at the corpse and moved towards Char. The girl was focused, her eyes following something Robin could make out in the distance.

'Well,' she said quietly. 'I suppose we can go now.' Even as she spoke, Robin rose up in her toes looking for anything. She would not be taking any chances.
