"Don't just stand there! Run, you idiot!"

a character in “It's the End of the World As We Know It”, as played by fallacywonderland

Description

Image

ImageAge: 23

Gender: Female

Appearance: India is 5’6” and has an athletic build. She has hazel eyes and her hair colour is a chestnut brown. She is a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl and mostly wears sneakers.

Sexuality: Heterosexual

Weapon(s): She carries a Bowie knife with her. She also has a 9mm Glock. she only uses this gun if it’s a necessity and she has no other choice. The sound attracts more of the infected and because most places are abandoned, sounds carry much further than they usually would. The only time she would use this gun is to get herself out of immediate danger.

Skills: India is a marathon runner, meaning she can keep up a fast pace for a long time if she has to. She is best able to use this skill on flat land, going up a hill or through a rocky terrain puts her on a disadvantage. She isn’t a sprinter, but so far she has been able to outrun and outlast the infected.

She knows basic survival skills like making fires and shelters.

Besides these skills, she is also a decent climber. Her family owns a small cabin in the woods, they used to visit this place every December. She is familiar with tree climbing and rock climbing, although without gear she can’t do the latter.

Family:
Mother(53)& Father(55) – Fate unknown
Brother(29) – Fate unknown
Sister(23) – Deceased

ImagePersonality: She is a no-nonsense type of person and definitely not a people pleaser, in fact, India loves to push people’s buttons. Saying stuff just to get a rise out of them or otherwise doing stupid pranks.

Aside from that, India has a real morbid sense of humour. With the zombie apocalypse on the rise, not many people can appreciate this. With the disaster and tensions running, she tries to stay out of conflict with people, meaning that she is less open to others. If India were to open her mouth, she’d probably say just the wrong things to get herself killed.

Growing up, she loved being outdoors and being active. She loved tree climbing, her older brother had even made a treehouse for her. India is pretty thankful now that her little hobby has been helpful in her survival. Although she was a social butterfly before shit hit the fan, she has been quite the loner this past year. Ever since she saw her sister get torn apart by an infected because of an idiotic mistake a fellow camp member made, she tries to avoid big groups. But there is truth to the old saying β€˜there is safety in numbers’…

History:India, the youngest of three children, had quite the unremarkable childhood. She lived in the suburbs with her family. Her mom was a stay-at-home mother and her father the breadwinner of the family as an accountant. She had the picture perfect childhood. Her parents were really a boring pair, her brother was always up for some pranks and her sister knew all the neighborhood gossip.

She wasn’t a student focused on academics, preferring a football to her schoolbooks. Her brother was the captain of their local football team and ever since she could remember she would go to his games to cheer him on. She tried a lot of different kind of sports until she found her passion for marathon running. It was actually by coincidence that she discovered this. Her gymteacher told her to run 20 laps in their gymhall as punishment for another one of her childish pranks. When she was on 19 laps and she still didn’t seem to tire, her teacher suggested she should sign up for the school’s track & field club.

She was pretty successful on the track & field club, gaining a full scholarship for the state University her sister also attended. She loved running track but she wasn’t sure if there was an actual future for her in that career path. After a freshman year full of doubts and worries, she choose to major in Sports Management. Although not everyone was happy with her decision (i.e. her parents), she was happy with her choice.

On the day of the outbreak she was with her sister in their dormroom. She can’t remember what happened during that chaos, but they did manage to escape the first wave of attacks. Through some miracle they even found firearms to protect themselves. India and her sister planned to go back to their parents’ house and plan from there, hoping their brother had the same plan. They were extremely close to their goal when the unfortunate accident happened that caused India’s sister her life. She hasn’t been the same since. Only living day by day, not really sure what to look forward to.

Love Interest: None at the moment

So begins...

India looked up towards the sky. The sun was already setting so she didn't have much time left, she cursed out loud. She had spend the entire day looking for a new shelter, whilst scavenging some items. So far she had found some canned beans, a bottle of soda and some crackers. At least she wouldn't go hungry. But still, it was not safe to stay outside during daylights, in the night it was a disaster. The battery of her flash-light had died a couple of days ago. And even if she had batteries, India wouldn't have ventured outside. It would be akin to screaming, "Hello every undead within the area, please come eat me."

She had a choice. She could stay within the area, and find at least some place with four walls and a roof, or she could take her chances and continue walking in the hopes of finding something better. "Okay, India. What are you going to do.", she muttered. During the long trek she had taken to talking to herself, to keep the boredom away. It wasn't helping much. India counted her bullets once more. She had at least three rounds of ammunition for her small handgun. So if she had to, she could probably clear an area to make it a safe zone. But it wouldn't do much good to her, all alone. She couldn't sleep knowing there was no one taking watch and she couldn't stay up all night because, damn it, she was tired.

Some shuffling noises came from the right side of the road. She could already see the outline of the undead, it probably wasn't the only one in the area. At that point she heard a very faint but distinctive gunshot. She had learned to keep an ear out for every kind of noise there was. And she was certain this was a gunshot, there had to be people nearby.

"This might be the dumbest thing I have done so far." India whispered softly, she was going to sneak towards the sound. If there were people nearby, that meant shelter! But the gunshot also meant that they might be in contact with the infected. She had to take the leap of faith. India craved contact with other humans, she hadn't spoken to another person in so long. Sighing, she quietly sneaked towards the sound of the noise.

After that initial gunshot, India couldn't hear any more. Maybe the fighting had stopped? "Now, where did that sound come from.." she was sure it was somewhere close by or else she wouldn't have heard it that clearly. She had to get on higher ground to see more clearly. Luckily there was an abandoned old truck nearby. With little effort she managed to climb on the wind shield of the truck. The glass was cracked and before it could give way she jumped onto the hood of the truck. It made an awful croaking noise and she cursed herself. Hopefully there was no walker within 20 foot radius...

With the sun setting, India couldn't see too far ahead. So she waited. For anything, a movement, a sound. She didn't have to wait for too long. There were a couple of walkers all shuffling to the same direction. There had to be something there, she imagined. Carefully, she climbed down the truck. This time not making any more noises than necessary. She quietly sneaked behind the two walkers. They lead to a small clearing. India could now hear faint sounds of something... She couldn't place the noise into anything she knew so she stayed hidden.

And there it was! India saw the silhouette of another person. It looked like a woman, India couldn't be sure though. She tried to get around the place so she could get a clearer view. It was definitely a woman and it appeared that India had made the right decision, because behind the woman was a shelter. It looked like a freaking fortress compared to the last place India had stayed in.

The woman had already cleared the area from walkers, she now seemed to wait for more. India waited cautiously, if she made a move now, there was a big chance she would be shot before getting a word out. After a few minutes it seemed the woman was satisfied, because she turned around and walked towards the shelter. India only now noticed that there were other people in front of it. Maybe they would be willing to take her in for the night. She didn't want to seem like she had any ulterior motives, so it would probably be better for her if she made her presence known sooner, rather than later.

"Let's hope they're craving for canned beans.." She muttered. That was all she had to offer them at the moment, besides her loyalty of course. She walked towards the clearing in front of the shelter, her shoulders straight and her head held high. There was no mistaking her for a walker. Most walkers couldn't even walk straight. She didn't want to shout to get heard so she whistled. That had to get their attention.

Christy turned round when she heard the whistle and grinned at the women now walking out of the forests behind her, the group of 4 had run back into the house. "Guess you heard my gun shot? Real noob move." She commented, she hated it when she did something so amuture.
"Names Christy, Your also here for the shelter? Well if you tell me your name maybe we can approach it together, cause I am pretty scared that they will shot me if I get any closer by myself." She was joking about the shooting of course, but she really did want the women to be there next to her when she had to knock on that door, as she hated facing embarrassment alone and what she and just done was pretty damn embarressing.

Suri went over to the door. The small five year old was shaking in her boots. Literally. She was dressed in a kelly and lime green striped sweater, a jean skirt, and little cow girl boots. "W-who are you?" She looked at Robin, and then whimpered. Suri grabbed the nearest hand, which was Evelyn's.

Knox and Ryker had decided to take the last patrol of the day. "Gee, ain't this something?" said Ryker. Knox sighed and looked at his brother. "What the Hell does that mean, Ry?" "I'd never thought we'd be looking out for zombies... walkers, whatever. I thought the end of us would be a meteor, a mass effect tidal wave, damn, even the chinese." "You fucking love 'Red Dawn', dontcha?" "It was the third remake, they couldn't have made it any worse." They both chuckled. "What day is it?" "I don't know. I think we're somewhere in fall or winter... Almost your birthday, Knox." "Damn... twenty-six on the twenty-fifth. Ha! It rhymes!" "Shut up, Doctor Seuss. I hear something..." "I got your six baby bro."

India took a moment to observe the shelter, it seemed that the people residing inside weren't so keen on visitors, not that she blamed them really. The woman India approached seemed friendly enough, though. "Yeah, I did" she grinned right back at her. It was nice seeing a happy face after being alone for so long.

"I'm India, and actually I think I should be thanking you. If you hadn't fired that shot I wouldn't have been able to find this place." she answered Christy pointing towards the shelter. "I'm actually pretty impressed by it, it looks like it can hold out quite a lot of those things.", she continued. "And yeah, don't worry Christy, I'm right behind you.", she teased. India was aware that Christy was joking, but there was also a small truth to her statement. They could choose to open fire, though it would not be that wise to attract the undead.

"Do you reckon they'd let us in? I really could use some rest", India complained. Now that she had taken a breather, she realized how tired her body was. She was sure she looked like a mess.

Robin frowned. They even had little kids here? She was a cutie, Robin had to give her that. She bent down, getting eye level to the child. 'I'm Robin. Nice to meet you.' Panicky she may be, the teen wouldn't want to scare a child.

Suri chewed on her finger on her unoccupied hand just a little before replying. "I'm Suri Simmons." She mumbled out. Suri shuffled her feet a little. "Have you seen my sister? She's seven and her name is Marney..."

Robin compressed letting out a string of awwws. Suri was adorable. 'No. I'm sorry sweetie, I haven't.' In fact, Robin hadn't seen another living human up till now. The last person she saw before these guys was her father, and that was a little over a week ago.

Christy smiled at the other women, it was good to joke around after fighting for her life for so long. "Don't know, hopefully after all they let this other girl in but you never know." She commented as hey approached the settlement, "It's a military safe house, so they guys have really got a good hideout, it was the place I was actually aiming for but they got her first I guess."
Her and India approached the door, and taking a deep breath she gave the door three hard knocks. "Please god let them open the door!" Christy said silently, sending a pray out to whatever god was still watching over this world.

"Military, huh..." India mused. "How did you even know it was here... Are you with the army? Well, were with the army I guess.", she rambled on. It was probably her nerves that caused her to suddenly talk so much. Christy had said that they let another girl in, so they were probably open for more. Especially people who could carry their own weight. And one look at Christy was enough to let India know that she knew what she was doing.

India tried to appear neutral. They might be suspicious if she came barging in with a big smile. "Anyone home?", she called out loud enough for the people behind the door to hear, but not too loud.

Knox growled. "Damn, Ry! Just a squirrel. Lets go back." They walked for a while and saw the two women. Ryker coughed. "Hey, you girls looking for someone?" Knox elbowed his brother. "Ry, hasn't anybody taught you manners?" "They ain't important nowadays." He snorted. "Sorry for my little brother. He needs more instructional criticism. Any way, what is it that you're here for, madams?"

Suri sighed. "Oh. Okay. I hope she comes around. I think it's my Daddies birthday, almost. He said he'd do anything for her to come back. I miss her too." Suri smiled lightly at the newcomer. There was a light shimmer of hope in her eyes that had dulled, but it was still shining.

'Your daddy?' Robin hoped this girl had a good father, one that cared for her. She was so tiny, and couldn't be older than five in Robin's eyes. 'Well, I'm sure you'll find her. Family always finds each other.' She smiled at the girl, enjoying the company Robin didn't know she missed.

"Take a wild guess sugar." Christy said before nearly facepalming, not a time to joke Christy! "Ah, sorry, not the time for joking. Look I'm here to apologise for the amature move with the gun silencer and I was wondering if you would let me and my friend here in. We kind of dont have anywhere to go and were wondering if you had space in there for 2 more. As you can see with those walkers I can take care of myself and its always useful to have a few more gunners on a team with a pregnant women." Christy gave her most charming smile, as placed her gun back into her bag as a sign of peace.
She needed sleep, and so did India from the looks of it and she wasn't going to let flashing her gun around get in the way of her and a bed.

Knox sighed and smiled. "Sure. Make yourself comfortable... and be careful with you mouth, uh... What did you say your name was, missy?" He looked them over. He saw that sleep was probably their main priority. Ryker, though, snickered. "Really, Knox? You're gonna approve of this? Do you remembered what happened to Marney?" "Ryker, don't you dare talk about my daughter in a situation like this. It wasn't my fault. Wasn't anybodies..." Knox looked at India. "No bites or anything, correct?" He started to walk in the compound with Ryker tailing behind.

Suri grinned. "Thanks, Robin! But, um, she didn't leave. Marney was taken." She frowned. "Daddy was upset, he said if only my mommy was here, she'd keep us all in check."

India was a bit confused by the mixed welcome they got. The guy opening the door didn't look that happy to see them and it didn't really help that Christy was being sassy to him. Not that she could blame her, India had said some dumb stuff her entire life. "Yes, I am India and this is Christy. Look I get that you're cautious but we can help around. I even have some canned food with me..", maybe those canned beans would help her after all.

She turned around to the two guys who had appeared just as they were waiting. "We were just hoping we could stay. For the night at least..." she smiled prettily, it was always better to appear charming than not.

"I promise, we won't cause you any troubles.", India continued while looking back and forth between the two guys and the people behind the door.

It appeared that they had some bad experiences with people before. "No bites, honestly." India said holding up her hands. "You can check if you like."

"Okay, India. Nice to meet ya, and Christy. Come on in, girls." Said Knox. "I'm Knox, and the smart ass behind me is my little brother, Ryker. And Chad here is no better." Knox chuckled a bit. "DADDY!" Suri ran to her father. Knox picked her up. "Gee, princess, I wasn't gone for so long." He kissed the top of her head. "And this is my youngest, Suri." Suri looked at the women. "Oh, hello!" She giggled. Ryker snorted. "Whatever. I'm gonna go do something..." And with that, Ryker walked off.

Christy grinned happily as they were let in, finally a good nights sleep!
"I wouldn't have it any other way." Christy said as she entered the base behind India, where she saw the 3 women who had been outside and a young girl, she smiled at the young girl, it was good to know that she was being taken care of when most people would of just dumped her because of her being a burden.
"Thanks for letting us in, i don't know if i would of survived another day out there!" She thanked the group.

India let out a small sigh. She had offered to let herself be checked, but it was the last thing she actually wanted to do. "Thank you, Knox.", she said grateful for his welcome. "Ryker, Chad", she nodded towards them. They were probably not too happy about them staying, but they weren't opposing it. She looked as a little girl appeared, she was actually surprised that this kid was still alive, however morbid that sounds. She hadn't actually seen a live child in... she couldn't remember..

"Hey there, Suri." India smiled warmly to her. She waved to the rest of the group and gave her best pageant smile. "It's really generous of you to let us stay."

India looked towards the girl. "I don't have water but I do have some bottled soda, if you like?", she offered.
