When Inessa was first born, her family was not poor, but nor were they as well off as they are now. The best description would be upper lower class, perhaps, for while they could survive on what they had, the family was hardly able to afford any luxuries, especially with all of their children. Inessa was the fourth born, and would not be the last. Her father was a government official at that point, but rather low down in the ranks, while her mother worked as a seamstress to supplement the family income. Inessa was young and happy, playing with her older siblings. So long as she was careful to stay out of trouble, things were good. And while she played, and attended school, her father was making friends with the right people. He had always been a quiet, thinking man, and this allowed him both to get into the good graces of important people, and to find information on them which was less than savory.
It seemed over night that Alexander rose to be a very high ranking official in the government. And, at first, this did little to change the lives of his family. He had seen other powerful men destroy themselves with avarice, and thus even when elected as the president of all of Russia, he kept his family humble. At first, anyway. But as the Russian proverb goes: "Poverty wants some, but Avarice wants all." Soon, the power and resources went to Inessa's father's head. She had only barely processed the influence of her father, before she was being swept away in a world of luxury that she had previously thought only existed in the fairy tale stories of kings and queens her mother had once taught her. While her three elder siblings were quick to adjust happily to the wealth, and her younger siblings came to forget anything had existed beside it, Inessa was careful about this new life. She knew enough of her old one to mark the differences, and to be curious.
Such behavior had been what made her the favorite child of her father, his youngest daughter and perhaps the most perceptive of his children. From him, she learned the importance of connections, of power, and of finding a way to get what one wants using the mind. But from her mother, she heard reminders that things had not always been this way, and that she could not forever rely on the wealth of her father. She must learn to make her own. And perhaps that is why she is in Jefferson Academy --to form connections that might aid her in the future, when she will stand separate from the political corruption and influence of her father.
High School Career:
Inessa's father might not be one of the best liked among the world's political leader, but he is still undeniably powerful and influential, and it is for this reason that she is in the upper ranks of the Jefferson Academy social structure. She may not be in the A-rank, but Inessa finds herself just below, and is happier for it. She strongly dislikes the protection which A students have to deal with, and finds the freedom and comfort of B-class to be the perfect compromise for her. Over her years her, she has become known for her ability to get her hands on things for others. Call her a smuggler, a thief, or simply someone with great connections --her methods are efficient. She's the one to go to for alcohol, drugs, information on enemies, and anything else that might be difficult to reach. She is very much her father's daughter when it comes to connections and strings to be pulled, and it has made her someone seen as valuable by much of the student body.

When it comes to Inessa, very little is as it seems up close. One must take several steps back before they can see the full picture of the Russian girl, who can easily be a person's closest friend or worst enemy. On first sight, she comes across as a polite and charming young woman, hardworking and motivated to better herself. She works hard in her studies, is a member of the basketball team at Jefferson Academy, and gets along well with most teachers. In fact, most people are surprised to find a daughter of a country known for its coldness to be so warm. She is fiercely loyal towards her friends, passionate about things she cares about, and clever enough to keep herself in good standing with her teachers. She knows how to pick her fights.
And perhaps that is the innocent hint at the layer of ice that lies beyond the smile and the dancing, the girl who works well on a team. There is a reason that many of the students who might be considered to be on the darker underbelly of the student body know Inessa by name, and have her number on speed dial. Though she might be polite to teachers, in reality she is the source of some of the things they are trying to keep out of their schools. A businesswoman by nature, and excellent at finding things out that people don't want found, Inessa has a sort of quiet influence that might be considered more suiting for a woman whose father is in charge of the KGB. She knows something about everyone, or knows something about someone who knows something, and thus seems to have a finger on every string in the school. She is cunning and calculating, often seeing things in terms of what she can gain from them, and how she can keep herself, and those she cares for, out of the crossfires. And, if one gets on her bad side, they are sure to find the joy in their mouth turn suddenly to ash at some point, even if they do not know why. She is not a forgiving person.
Inessa is frightening because of her two sides, but she is not to be presumed only one or the other, of course. She is genuinely loyal and kind to her friends, and her hard work is no show. Loathe to rely too much on her father, for she knows that such power is finite, Inessa throws herself into her studies and things that she believes will help her in the future. What Inessa wears varies greatly. Some days she may feel content in nothing but a soft gray V-neck and dark colored jeans, but others she may feel more inclined towards skirts that show off her legs and fashionable blouses. It really depends on the occasion, for while she is not particularly fashionable, she isn't completely careless when it comes to her clothing either.
